Comments regarding Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Co.

We have ordered from Baker Creek for two years now. On both ocasions their service has been excellent and shipping was very fast. The seeds had a very good germination rate, better than we have experienced with other companies. This is fast becoming our main garden seed company.We highly recomend this company and their great variety of products.

Ordered seeds last Thursday and received my order this Thursday. Order was complete and just as ordered, with a package of free seeds included. This is my second year ordering from Baker Creek. Was impressed with their customer service last year and this year was just as great. Experienced a good germination rate last year. I am looking forward to planting the new seeds.

Fast service, great website. I'll be starting some seeds indoors to brighten what will be a cold winter.

This is the second time (this year) I have ordered from them. Seeds for late Fall/cold frame planting arrived very quickly. All of the seeds except perhaps one or two that I ordered in the spring germinated and grew well. In fact sometimes it was just too much seed! I hate to waste them, so I am going to keep some for next year, hope they still germinate. I loved the extra packet they gave gratis. It was a type of small carrot that now will be on my list every year. The problems I had with the couple of seeds that did not do well I can pretty much say were my fault because I put them in the wrong spot or didn't water enough during germination. Or both. Will gladly order again. They are updating website and I think it will be an improvement. I also like their commitment to local food banks giving away seeds to distribute to gardeners so that they can then grow extra for the local food bank.

I ordered seeds and got them very quickly with a nice note thanking me for ordering. They also donated 50 seeds to our non profit organization going to Haiti in 2 weeks and this is a huge blessing! Thank you!

I love the variety and unusual seeds available! This is my 4th year ordering & I haven't been dissapointed yet.

Great variety to choose from. Excellent prices and very fast shipping. Will purchase from again.

I placed my first order with Baker Creek last year and was very pleased with my experience with them. I received my seeds 4 days after placing the order and only one of the pepper seeds was out of stock. Of course, I was not charged for the "out of stock" item and was pleased to find the pack of free seeds with my $25.00 order.
I found the number of seeds in each packet to far exceed the number listed on the pack or online. With that said, I have to admit that I didn't have the germination rate I would have liked with these seeds. However, due to the higher quantity of seeds per pack I did get more plants than advertised even with the low germination rates.
I only had to call Baker Creek once and the young lady that answered the phone was polite and very knowledgeable.
Overall I have been extremely happy with Baker Creek and placed my second order last Thursday. I received my seeds on Saturday and all the seeds I ordered where sent.
Baker Creek is a great seed company and I urge anyone who is "thinking" about ordering to go ahead and place that order. I think you'll be just as happy as I have been.

I am very happy with this company. I have ordered from them twice now and was able to find seeds that were unavailable elsewhere. The seeds came promptly in the mail and my order was correct. I am especially excited about trying out the mangle wurzel beets as a fodder crop for my mini Jersey cows.

This time I've ordered seeds that I couldn't find easily elsewhere... they came in a flash.

This is my second order with Baker Creek and they have both been delivered accurately and quickly. I have been very pleased with the quality of the seeds that I have received. All have germinated nicely and I am enjoying harvesting my summer vegetables. The Tatume Mexican heirloom zucchini and Ronde de Nice French heirloom zucchini are awesome!! Thank you Baker Creek for providing us with non-GMO alternatives!

Needless to say after my experience this past January I am very surprised to read all those compliments about Baker Creek. We do have an about 2000 sqft vegetable garden near Lake Champlain (NY) that, year after year, does very well thanks to a mix of great top soil over sand and goat manure. This past winter reading about Baker Creek we requested their catalogue and charmed by its appearance and choice of seeds we ordered (January 6) 36 packages of various seeds. The seeds were delivered promptly with a typed note at the bottom comments box “out of stock: RB104, EG110, EE101, SC103, WM 129 thanks for ordering, happy planting” and a hand written “Thank you, Rhonda”. Since we had ordered so early I called to inquire about having so early in the season almost 15% of their products out of stock and was told all the ones I had ordered and many mores had never been available due to bad crops but too late to have them removed from the catalogue. I had to call twice to get the refund when the check finally came it was not signed, so I called again and soon received a signed check ($12.50). Well even though it was disappointed not to have all the seeds we had ordered it does happen occasionally with other mail orders company even if not in that high a percentage. I should mention too that the packaging was certainly not in par with the beautiful catalogue but there again we figured it was due to their success and did not stopped us from planting! Sadly that was not the end of our troubles as the germination of some seeds was very poor and a few others were certainly not what was advertized on the package. Every year we do order as well from Fedco, Johnny’ Selected Seeds and John Scheepers, and have never encountered problems with seeds germination and/or mislabelling of that magnitude, good thing that still a sizeable portion of our seeds came from them this year as it would have otherwise been a depressing gardening year.
As the saying goes it was too good to be true...

First, I LOVE the catalog... I took it on vacation with me and planned out my garden for next year!

Second, I found the online reviews by other gardeners VERY helpful.

Now... for my experience with Baker Street... it was fast, easy, and my seeds arrived promptly!

I have read some reviews complaining about the free seed pack... and I have to wonder if they really gave a negative because they didn't like the pack... really???... why not give it to a friend if you don't want it. I was surprised to see a free seed pack... excited even! and if I end up with 14 of the very same seed pack... then my family and friends will all receive fabulous seeds!

I really hope to visit their farm for the festival next year!

I have ordered from Baker Creek Heirlooom Seeds twice through the internet. Both experiences were great. They had everything I was looking for and shipping was super fast. I like the low flat rate shipping. Free seed packet was a nice surprise both times. I highly recommend their self-blanching cauliflower. I harvested 18 heads and all were very white and delicious. All seeds are non-GMO and that makes me feel good about what I grow. I have also visited their Petaluma store and LOVED it. I felt like a kid in a candy store. It was so hard to choose because of the great amount of varieties. Their customer service is terrific. I have passed the word to my friends and neighbors that garden...Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds is THE place to get your seeds.

I think I could kiss you people! Ordered a selection of seeds. Seems like VERY generous counts re:how many per envelope. Some said 100 seeds but I'm pretty sure the number was closer to 200. Planted everything in early June and am enjoying a gorgeous August! Couldn't ask for more from a company! <3

Received my order exactly one week after it was placed. Everything was in good condition. The seeds were relatively cheep. Great selection of quality heirlooms.

I found ordering from these folks to be a really great experience. I ordered on the web initially, then called to ask about shipping dates. The staff was excellent, responsive and knowledgeable and followed up with a courteous email a day later. The seeds I purchased arrived far more quickly than anticipated and were amazing!! They sent up small green healthy starts in only two days in dreary, cloudy weather. Order with confidence from this vendor, and if you need phone assistance, you will not be disappointed.

gorgeous catalogue, and they had exactly what i wanted, received a free pack of seed with my order. this company makes me want to move to somewhere i can grow more stuff as i live in zone 3/4.

From the website, I ordered a packet of Pennsylvania Dutch Crookneck Squash on July 13, 2010. The package arrived in the mail on the 19th, but that included a weekend. Within, was exactly what I had ordered and a package of lettuce seed as an added bonus. Along with clear instructions the package stated a minimum of 20 seeds but contained 35. Handwritten on the detailed sales receipt was the date packed and by whom. Their prices and shipping rates were both reasonable. I am planning on ordering a catalog. Several seeds were planted on the day received and have not yet broken the surface of the ground, I will update later.

What a great experience! The catalog is beautiful with in-depth information that really helped me chose what to order-not an easy process with all the wonderful varieties available.

I received my order, with an apology for the delay due to weather. However, between the time I ordered there was a three day weekend, so actually from the date of order until the seeds were in hand was only FOUR days!! Wow! This company clearly cares about people and seeds.

Shipping was very reasonable, seed packs have extras-very generous, and the freebie was a nice surprise.

Number one on my list!

This is my second year buying seeds from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds, and it won't be my last. Love the catalog, and they provide excellent customer service. For example: I emailed earlier this year thinking the Spinach seeds I ordered were bad (i.e., not germinating). I received a quick response indicating they had not had any other complaints about the seed, and they explained that Spinach can take a while to germinate (the note also said that if they ultimately didn't germinate they would certainly refund my money) -- sure enough a short while later I had baby spinach plants that ultimately the plants produced tons of fresh spinach leaves. My vegetable garden is in full production -- thanks BCHS!!

If they can get my order in perfect condition all the way to the other side of the planet here in Argentina in no time at all... you can rest assured. Top notch outfit, if you ask me. Great personal attention. I have a new seed company!

Great selection of heirloom seeds. I just received my package of 11 envelopes of seeds within several days of ordering. They threw in some free broccoli seeds, and wrote a little thank you note on the receipt. I'll definitely order from Baker Creek again.

They're a really polite and well-mannered company. Even though I received my seeds in over a span of the regular five days, they sent a thank you and "apology for any delay" sheet. Also, I received a free random packet of seeds. Will most likely be doing business again next summer...
