Comments regarding Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Co.

I have just received my seed order in less than a week after ordering. It included a free package of seeds and a nice little "good luck" greeting from the packer. This is my second year ordering from this company and so far, so good. I love their catalogs too. I literally drool over the big shiny colored photos of the stock offered. I love that they sell seeds from open pollinated plants and support good causes to help reduce hunger in the world. I love this company!

I received my seeds today along with an apology on how long it took! I can't believe how fast I received my seeds, seems like I just ordered them. THey have nothing to apologize about. I am very excited to deal with a company that sells all heirloom seeds and has such wonderful variety. Thank you

Great selection, great on-time service.

First time I ordered from this company. Website was good, I'm sure more photos will be posted when quality photos become available. The order arrived 5 days (including a weekend) after it was placed. The seed packets are retail story quality; now hopefully the weather co-operates this year so I can enjoy great new varieties of pepper and tomato. My free seed was a packet of red romaine lettuce. I'm not a big lettuce fan, but I'll plant some and give the rest away....perhaps to a local food shelf so someone else can grow and share; and always count my blessings for an unexpected gift. Thank you!

Politically correct speech keeps people from showing their true character. I'd rather be offended because that provides me an opportunity to see a person's heart and perhaps engage in meaningful discourse.

I found Baker Creek right here on Dave's Garden and decided to give them a try this year. Their assortment of seed is really good. I ordered and my order went out the same week. I would have had it at the start of this week if it were not delayed due to the Holiday. The seeds look wonderful! I am excited that this company has proven to be reliable with great speed in shipping.

I will continue to order from them. Before I got out of the post office picking up this order, I had told two people all about this company.

This is the first time I have ordered from this company. They have so many positive comments on many websites that I decided to try them. Their on line ordering is easy and informative, with many choices. Communication is excellent and shipping is fast...neatly packaged and ready to go. I would not hesitate to recommend this company or order from them again in the near future.

I received some Baker Creek Heirloom seeds as a gift last year. I planted the lemon summer squash seeds in late July. Our growning season is short, but I harvested over a dozen squash in September before our first frost. The squash does look very much like a lemon but taste like any summer squash! Neighbors commented on how pretty the squash was. I plan to grow this one every year.

I love this organization's seed catalog. I have found their website to be very user friendly and placing orders with them is so easy. Also, each order is very quickly filled and usually arrives in my mailbox within three days. I just love looking at everything in their catalog and on their website!

Just a wonderful company to do business with! I ordered my seeds 4 days ago and they've already arrived! The other 4 companies I ordered from haven't even shipped my seeds yet, but Baker Creek has already gotten my seeds to me! I'm amazed at the speed at which my order was processed and shipped!

Their amazing selection of seeds.... wow! I ordered many things I've never even seen in catalogs before and I look forward to my upcoming growing season. Some of the things I wanted from the catalog were no longer in stock when I placed my order online, but that's my fault for not ordering as soon as I knew what I wanted! Just got my order from Baker Creek. I ordered Jan 7th and they arrived on the 12th. That's pretty good service for a busy season and delivery halfway across the country. They even included a packet of 'parisienne' carrots as a freebie-always a plus!. They had all my seeds in stock and included a thank you on my receipt-always welcome. I'm looking very much forward to growing my interesting and unique seeds this season!

This is my second year ordering from Baker Creek. This year, my order was placed via phone on Dec. 31st and was received on Jan. 4th. Service is speedy and their staff is super friendly and helpful!
This year, I only ordered a few packets of flowers and they threw in a complimentary packet of dill seed! Last year, I got lettuce...my consolation prize because they were out of the Marvel of Peru seed I wanted. I ordered $100. worth of seed last year, most of which I didn't get to use because my stepmother was diagnosed with terminal cancer and I traveled to Louisiana to help care for her. I had already started my tomatoes in trays and carried those with me on an 860 mile trip. I ended up sharing my seedlings with my sister and aunt in Louisiana, my brother in southeast Texas and brought 2 of each variety back home with me after she passed. I think the return trip home was just too, too much and/or I got them in the ground too late here, because they didn't do anything. On the other hand, all of my southern relatives enjoyed the fruits of the vine...six different varieties of heirlooms. They assured me that my seeds were WONDERFUL! My Little Finger carrots did quite well. The neighbor's bull mastiff really dug my broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage. I have an incredible supply of seeds I never got to use. I placed them in a plastic tub and they have been kept refrigerated all year...so I will try again. Sue, the nice lady on the other end of the line at Baker Creek tells me they should be good a few years, provided they didn't get hot. So, wish me luck. By the way, the neighbor built a privacy fence, so Sabre shouldn't be digging my veggies this time. :D

Their catalogue is beautifully illustrated and I have found the detailed information on the seeds very helpful.
We moved from Connecticut to Casa Grande, Arizona 4 years ago. Gardening in Arizona is a challenge but I have had great results with the seeds we have received. If results were not 100% perfect with some seeds it was through my own fault as I am relearning how to garden in Arizona. For me keeping a journal has been helpful - some seeds are simply not going to like our hot Arizona climate.
My gardening style is 100% Organic - No GMO - low water usage. Baker Creek is the right fit for me.
My latest order has just arrived and took 3 days to reach me, receipt signed and dated by Tim - what a class act!

I tried ordering from Baker Creek last year for the first time because of all their positive ratings, but I found that their seeds don't work for everyone, especially me. I was all enthused over growing heirloom varieties in my garden, but found they are not always suitable. All my heirloom tomatoes died of assorted blights and we ended up going to the Farmer's Market to buy tomatoes last summer because we got none from our two dozen assorted varieties. I'm going back to raising disease resistant hybrid tomatoes for the most part. Also Bakers had sold out on many of the seeds I wanted and made substituions that were not suitable for my zone 5a and the produce did not mature. So if you shop this company and early production is critical, do not allow substitutions. One variety of squash seed did not germinate at all. Other than those complaints I found the seed selections very interesting and fun to grow, but in the future, I will look for hierloom seed sources closer to my own zone.

I have ordered seeds 3 times from Baker Creek. All 3 orders were shipped very quickly and accurately. I placed my last order on Sunday and received the complete order,($100 worth of seed), on the next Friday. I have had close to 100% germination rate with the seeds that I have purchased from Baker Creek. I will happily buy more seeds from them!!

For the past four years I've ordered from Baker Creek with mixed results. They are frequently out of what I order, the germination rates have been poor on many seeds, and the customer service is, as people have written, "snarky". Because of shortfalls with BC, two years ago I started rounding out my orders from Seed Savers. This was when I fully appreciated the difference in germination rates. Seed Savers has a readily available selection seeds, quick turnaround, and great customer service by pleasant people who answer the phone.

This year I ordered from Seed Savers first and was going to use Baker Creek to round out my order. I went to BCs site to find they weren't taking orders over the holiday. When I was able to order on line, many of the things I wanted weren't on the system and the turnaround jumped to 35 days. The reason given for the long turnaround is because of high demand and being a family owned business. This shouldn't be something unanticipated. This is high demand time for seeds and it makes logical sense you would hire part time or temp workers to round out your business model during this time period.

I gave up on BC and went back to Seed Savers to order the rest of my seeds for the season. I'll have them next week. They may not have been as interesting as the ones I thought I was going to buy from Baker Creek (which some ended up being unavailable), but they meet my needs.

Ordered from Baker Creek again this year. everything arrived quickly and the order was correct. They happened to be out of some of the items I ordered but my refund was packaged in with my seeds. Excellent company will order from them again in the future.

Can't say enough good about Baker Creek. Their seeds are quality and germinate well. Shipping cost is cheap and it's fast...I've consistently received my orders within 5 days or less, and I'm on the West Coast. I've only dealt with customer service once and the person was friendly and helpful and canceled my accidental order no questions asked. Their huge heirloom selection and dedication to honest service are what keep me reordering every year.

This was my first time ordering from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds. I was pleased with the wide selection of seeds available on their site. I was also extremely pleased that even though I ordered seeds a week before Christmas they arrived in my mailbox 3 days after I ordered. I can hardly get mail from across town that fast let alone from halfway across the country. I have a few months to go before I plant but so far I am extremely happy with Baker Creek and I will definately order again.

I love BCS. This will be the 3rd year I've ordered with them & at least the 6th order. They've always been quick to ship, have a gorgeous catalog & of all the seeds I've ever ordered (at least a couple hundred dollars worth), I've had ONE pkg that I was not happy with the germination rate.

BCS is one of the FEW companies I order from anymore, as we are careful to plant only non-GMO seed.

I drive to Baker Creek each Spring to purchase our seeds. In all of the purchases we have made, we had only one packet of seeds that germinated poorly. They replaced those seeds and the next batch did quite well. The store is a hoot and the selection of heirlooms wonderful.

I've ordered every year, often several times, from B.C., and have always received prompt service. Seed count in the packets is generally very generous, always at least as stated, and I've always had excellent germination. This company is truly a gem. Well done, Baker Creek.

My experience with Baker Creek has been very positive. I ordered vegetable seeds for my garden and they arrived shortly after I ordered them and the germination rate was over 90 percent.
