LOL! Ya, "purrrrr," they're good at that aren't they?
I have carpet torn up by my office door because I close it when I leave for work. I kept blaming the dog until I caught my cat tearing at it one day trying to open the door. He's actually gotten it open. I'd come home from work and think "Didn't I close that on the way out?" Poor dog. I never realized a cat could do so much damage to carpet.
"puuuuurrrrr"
Is There Ever Too Much of Luping's Basil?
Furry alien dead ahead and he's after my nuts......
LOL!
ROTFL
Here is another jungle plant your cat would love...........LOL
Well, I feel like it's a jungle at times!!
My witchy cat destroyed the carpet between the living room and hall cuz someone forgot to check before they closed the door for the day....but that's okay, cuz the blind Beagle, Benny ate the door facing trying to get to the cat.....I love my animals....
Hey Kassy. Put a daylily pic on Basil mint and other goodies thread for you. If you like it, I can give you some.
Cherry Lambic (Kriek) is the best one!
I'm going to attempt downloading AVG anti-virus today. On dial-up it seems to take forever!
LOL jean on those animals
You may not like that one Dave. Are you running the new windows program?
I switched from AGV to Avast.
It seems to work better with widows xp.
What program are you running? xp?
Hi Kassy, I have Windows XP.
OK Dave, I would consider Avast first then.
AGV my son found out seems to be set up more for windows vista.
If you ever need a free program off the net, ask me and I'll ask my son ;-)
Not sure what all he can find, but he knows his way around the net.
Thanks, I'll have a look!
Your Welcome ^_^
When I see him tonight I can ask him if any of the other ones are better.
Not sure what one my nephew is running, I'll have to ask him, because he has a trogan in his computer in a hidden file somewhere. Every time he logs on and I am on it sends me this message on messenger...............
(8/24/2009 11:37:05 PM): HOT!HOT!
I won't put the link in.................LOL
I e-mailed him to let him know he had a problem there!
Thanks Dave! Good timing, was just getting ready to head out on errands. Guess what I'll be checking out tonight!
ooooOOOOooooo Kassy! Is that grape ivy??? Wow! My cat would be in heaven! Of course the plant would be destroyed...
LOL moon. Was the blind beagle trying to be nice and let the cat out or were more sinister thoughts afoot? Man what a sight to come home to!
Yes Ican, that is grape ivy.. I got it when it was just a tiny thing, and now have trimmed it back many times in the 9 years I have had it.
Actually my cats leave that plant alone, it's all the other ones I have to worry about.
And I may be looking for a new home for it. I don't want to overwelm my BF with too many plants, or such big ones. One friend won't take it, because she is afraid she will kill it.
Good evening everybody. Dave thanks for the plant info.
That Chipper really rattled ya Kassy....grin
Ican, the dog was distressed by the cat's crying and wanted to help, of course he would have gone nuts if the cat had been near him cuz he is afraid of her....grin One day the carpet will be replaced with bamboo floors....one day.
It took over five hours, but I put free antivirus on my computer, scanned all my programs and deleted all viruses, and removed my outdated antivirus (from 2005).
There were at least three "Trojans" called Win32 Trojan-gen, LdPinch-CYW, & Rootkin-gen, and there was a worm called Koobface.
The new program even blocked a new virus just since I've been back on line in the past few minutes!
Thanks Rachel & Kassy for helping me with that! My machine works a lot better now.
hi everybody....just got in....how's everyone doing?
Geez, enough viruses on there? Wow! I'll bet it works better now!
We have a little liquor store up here where you can buy singles in beer that has a great assortment. They had Lambic in raspberry, black cherry, apple & peach. I stuck with the black cherry for the time being. I did find a banana bread beer I was bold enough to buy. The gal at the register assured me it was really good...hmmm...
As long as it doesn't taste like garlic beer. I'm sorry I don't care HOW much you love garlic. I love garlic. Blah!
Oh Kassy Kassy Kassy, you can't give that plant up! I have a pathetic thin grape ivy I saved I still don't know what to do w/it. It should probably be transplanted. I trimmed it back and it gets new growth but the older leaves keep falling off. Dunno what the heck. I haven't had it long though. O.k. tell me your secret and don't say I dunno I just water it (that's what your gonna say isn't it).
Here's the other side of my living room. I won't even go into my kitchen and office. Your BF likes plants, it'll all be fine, one at a time...like moss on a tree...
Hello everybody my names Katrina, new here. just learning
Hi trina, welcome!
Ican how is that beer, not too sweet? i don't like it sweet either.
so other than beer, what is the topic of discussion if I might ask and thanks for the welcome
LOL, anything and everything. Gypsies / Rebels remember? We laugh at rules! Bwahahaha!
Trina we mostly show our plants and sometimes go off topic esp with food & drink.
I have had blueberry beer, that was way too sweet for me. I don't even like sugar in coffee though.
cool anybody have any ideas on how to keep dogs and cats out of my flower gardens other than shooting them with an airsoft gun like my husband suggested
Trina honey if you come up with an answer for that we'll nominate you for empress of the gypsy band...LOL Welcome to basil world...
My DH (dear husband) Jim uses a paintball gun with a light charge...stings like fire for a second or two(yup, tried it on ourselves first), but more importantly it makes a loud pop that scares the heck out of them....that and a lot of hissing and barking at them...grin
Ican, practicing for Hallowe'en, are we? The raspberry lambic we had was slightly sweet with a touch of tart to it. Can't handle the cloying sweet stuff. Your houseplants are gorgeous. I love the containers, especially the one doing double duty for the dog and cat toys...grin
Dave, glad you finally got a grip on those worms....people that purposely try to muck up other folks' computers ought to be flayed and dipped in salt....often. Grin
Hi Ican, I think you might have a Bottle Palm, Hyophorbe lagenicaulis. The young plants have fronds with an orange mid-rib, that get large and gently arched with a twist. Your plant looks a bit etiolated from growing indoors.)
It is closely related to a Spindle Palm, Hyophorbe vershaffeltii. The fronds are sharply arched.
Below is a photo of a young Bottle Palm, grown from seed. It is just a few years old. They take a long time to get large and show a bottle-like trunk.
E komo mai; Welcome Katrina.
The general discussion here is leaning about plants; what they are, how to grow them, things that are made from them. Please join in!
Aloha, Dave
Pictures of houseplants huh? I'd be taking pics forever then! I have over a hundred of them and then a well meaning friend just brought me over a thousand plants I have no clue what to do with it
Show us any that are unidentified!
Ok does anyone know what this tree is? sorry the pic is so dark. When I got it it only had a few leaves and everyone swore it was dead. well I put it out on the porch when it got warm and had gained more leaves over the winter...well after being on the porch in direct sunlight it flowered! It smells great I just don't know what it is
That would be Nerium oleander, Oleander. Very pretty but poisonous. They like a lot of sunlight.
2nd one looks like Schefflera actinophylla 'Variegata'.
