Why does my lilac have white fuzzy stems. How do I get rid of this or do I throw out the plant? Zone 7 New York
White fuzzy stems
It's either powdery mildew (common in lilacs) or white prunicola scale which is a tiny insect that looks like fuzz. Increase sunlight if possible and prune to increase air circulation. If scale, horticultural oil should do the trick. Neem oil is good

I think it might be aphids or powdery mildew
