What do you do for fun when you're not gardening?

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

You did just fine! Beautiful hibiscus flowers.

Southern Dutchess Co, NY(Zone 5b)

Is cold porcelain the same as cold cast porcelain?

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Wow, you made those? They're beautiful.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

They are stunning! Great job.

Eugene, OR

Beautiful!!!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I thought they were real flowers!

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Me too !

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Gorgeous! Do you sell them?

Sarasota, FL

no, do not sell
my instructor did suggest I teach

I've tried to upload a pic but it won't
will keep trying

In any case it is a dough--called paste, like fondant
you roll it out like pie crust and cut it with 'cookie cutters' to form the petals, leaves
it is assembled while still maleable and then air dried

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

They might be having problems with the photo program. The first one you did came through. They are just lovely!

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

You must paint them also. And what a great job!

Sarasota, FL

venu--actually, the paste is colored with a dust so a base color is choosen and kneaded into it before shaping

the dried product can be dusted to highlight and shade
leaves can be spray painted but again start out with a base color
whole flower is sprayed with matt clear coat

I also do bead work and stained glass, fused glass

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

How about some pictures of the glass work? I love stained glass.

Sarasota, FL

pollyk--if I can get it to load
been tring since six pm
now just after midnight

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

I still think there is some problem. I'd give it up for now.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

GW, I have just discovered mosaic work and have fallen in love with it. The next step I want to do is stained glass. Is it a pain to do, because then I will love it.

Sarasota, FL

venu--it is very rewarding
fused glass on the other hand is horrid
I am an immediate gratification person and waiting for a kiln is difficult 10-12 hour before you can look
my stained glass is copper foiled not leaded

Snug, :o)

Sarasota, FL

snug--how about
a garden, library and camera

Sebastopol, CA(Zone 9a)

A garden, a library, a camera, and some cats.

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

A garden, a library, a camera, a cat, and some dogs.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

and chocolate

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

A garden, a library, a camera, a cat, and some dogs, chocolate and a nice cold beer on a hot day.

Southern Dutchess Co, NY(Zone 5b)

....or a Margarita.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

...a Cape Codder.

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Hot coffee with chocolate bundt cake.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

...with real heavy whipped cream?

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

At this rate, we'll never get any gardening done!

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

no whipped cream...cream cheese frosting !

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

But we'll sure feel good.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Then I'm not baking it for you. Only heavy cream, whipped to a frenzy, and covering the cake so it can't be seen.

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

calorie free right?

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

whipped cream is so "inert"...cream cheese is da bomb !

Southern Dutchess Co, NY(Zone 5b)

Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate. And champagne.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I'll skip the champagne for even more chocolate.

Sarasota, FL

laughing myself silly

I love it

I'm sure cicero's list was longer, too
someone else shotened it!

Sebastopol, CA(Zone 9a)

It's nighttime for some of you and it's raining for the rest of us, so we're not really losing any gardening time with this list. I just have to add peanut brittle, preferably See's peanut brittle.
