Wow, your cat looks like the sister to the one with the turkeys! I'll have to see if I have her picture around here!
What do you do for fun when you're not gardening?
Cute pictures!
The wild turkeys here chase my one cat, so I have to be carefull when she's out in the spring and fall. The turkeys aren't around much in summer.
I would love to have a sunroom, especially with floor heating. We were actually thinking about a sunroom, then we found out we had dry rot.....so we got new siding instead. Maybe later if the economy ever gets better.
Pretty kitty pictures everyone. Poor babies, chased by turkeys!
Ah, the turkeys have never caught her. Honestly she (Opie) would get chased by anything, birds, butterflies. Opie is such a weenie, she's afraid of her own shadow. Very loving cat, though.
Our other cat Gigi just lays there and the turkeys walk around her.
My Pookie is like that too. Anyone strange comes in and she's under the bed. She had been dumped in the field behind our house, took me two months to get her, she was just so frightened. Now she's attached at the hip, always somewhere near me, if not on my lap.
It was the exacty same with Opie! That must explain it. Someone dropped her off here way up in the woods in November 2006. We tried to get her to come to us, but she wouldn't. We left food out for her, and water, but she ran everytime she saw someone. One day in the middle of a snowstorm in January, my husbands friend opened the garage door, and she ran in, and never left.
She's attached to my husband, but if anyone else comes she's gone behind the chair.
LOL.
I think the cats who find us, or we them, are the best.
Both of mine found me. And they have no intention of leaving, or scooting over, or moving off.....
edit: typo, gets me everytime.

ROFL Mine would do that if she could. She walks on the keyboard as it is.
Gretchen is an in your face cat. Has to know what's going on, who's here, whatcha doin? I have to put her up if we have a repairman in, she gets in the way. LOL
Sharran...Exactly!!
Do yours talk?
Daisy is very quiet.
Jazz is always chatting about whatever is on his mind, particularly if I talk back. He must have the last word.
Both of mine talk. Gretchen is much louder, sounds like your Jazz, she'll talk your ear off. Pookie is a little lady, very timid, very quiet, but she purrs louder.
Hah! My bird can trump your cats! She says, "I can tickle your belllllllyyyyy!!" So there... :-)
KaperC I have been reading about your birds on the thread about the macaw rescues. Great thread.
I have never had a bird.
But Gretchen turns her belly up to be tickled. hahaha How are the kids? Settled all back in after the company?
Oh...where do I start responding to this thread. I resemble so many of the comments.
First...I used to crochet, scrapbook, do many different crafts, and read more than I do now. Now my favorite pass-time when the ground is frozen and covered with 6 feet of snow is working in PlantFiles. I've become a bonafide addict.
I do still read some, and I've finished the first three books of the twilight series. I have the fourth one sitting on my desk beckoning me to pick it up. But if I do, I know my productivity will be nearly nil until I finish it. :) DH just finished John Grisham's newest release 'The Associate' and it's now on my nightstand waiting in line right behind 'Breaking Dawn'. Also on my nightstand is Janet Evonovich's between the numbers book 'Plum Spooky'. I gotta get them all read before spring. :)
Then there's the reference books. Then there's more reference books...etc. etc. I have an entire room full of those. I pick them up to look things up, but how I would love to have the time to sit down and actually READ them....maybe someday.
The Clan of the Cave Bear series was awesome! I don't think I have them anymore, but I would love to find them again and re-read. I do have the movie that was made of the first book, which was Clan of the Cave Bear. It was really good, but not nearly as good as the book.
Oh, and my first husband was a burp too. LOL
Freddie, my ever faithful office co-worker says 'Hey!'
We love our birdies. The macaw named me Bird Girl. We often call the two girls "girly girl, birdies, good girl" etc. One day out of the blue she says "Hi Bird Girl" to me. Don't know where she got it, but she never calls DH that, so apparently it's my name. LOL
When we first brought her home, she would talk in her first owner's voice - some rude words and "back! back!" gave me some clues as to her life there. But she also learned "Hey Baby" from him. The rude words are gone and she hasn't used his voice in more than a year. She says "Hey Baby" when DH gets her up in the morning.
Pookie - my sister's cat above - is really funny. When I visit, I can hear them both running around the house at night getting their exercise. Have to keep the door shut to the spare room 'cause they hide under the bed. I'm allergic to some cats, though hers have never bothered me, so I keep my distance. Give 'em an inch, you know....
They are fine now, Sis. They were just getting used to having DSS and his GF around when they left. Sunny (the cockatiel) landed on DSS's head a couple of times, which was amusing.
Nice co-worker. I also enjoyed The Clan of the Cave Bear series and I love Ann McCaffrey's Pern series. And I like the Eragon series also. Great dragon fan here. ^_^
Joan, ditto....a friend sent me an old cottage garden book. It is more reference than anything, and I must have read that thing 3 times in the past month. Huge book, too.
Funny Joan, I have the fourth book in the Twilight series and haven't picked it up for the same reason.
Our local library system, which is huge, has 80 books each of the Twilight series, and they are reserved two years ahead.
My favorite 'reference' to read is the Pam Harper books, a lot of good reading there.
Anyone read"The Story of Edgar Sawtelle"?
Its the last book for me.
Theyre going to make a movie out of it.
Yep, read Edgar Sawtelle, gave it to my son for Christmas.
And the verdict is...
Ummmmm....can't remember.
Does that tell you anything?
Yep! LOL
hello
when not gardening, I do crafts
make jewelry--assemble from pendants and beads, findings
I also do cold porcelain
Welcome to Dave's Garden, gardn_whisperer. I hope you'll enjoy the site as much as we do.
Hi Whisperer, that sounds interesting, but I am not sure what cold porcelain is??
Hi Whisperer, I'd like to know also.
Welcome gardn_whisperer!
Yes, me too.
Jewlery does sound like fun, and my granddaughter would love that. Maybe next winter I will do that.
Here's something that popped up today....thought it might be fun to do too, but it has to be done when the rose petals are fresh, and I never cook or work at the stove in summer. Still, might be fun.

Cold porcelain is when you get up in the morning, step into the shower and realize the pilot light on the water heater blew out during the night !
Welcome, gardn_whisperer !
ROFLOL So True!!
And have no idea how to re light it.
That wasn't exactly the answer I was looking for, JD!
Welcome Garden-wisperer
We are a friendly bunch here.
