2ND VICTORIAN SANTA WORKSHOP..TODAY IS THE DAY!

Glenview, IL

Deborah and Debra...LOL Waving Hi tooo!

Debra, yours is looking awsom.
Sorry abou the machine, yep get the other one...hehehe.

Remember Hat scarves? or Hood scarves. My is a scarf with a hood attched and the ribbon is sewn on and around the neck.
The fur is a fur headband...glue a fur strip to a wire and fit accordingly.

Big smile, worked like the charm!

How you doing Anjl and Debrorah.

ARGGGHHH, batteries died..recharging now!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

fleur, what color is your robe? I like it!

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

yay! thanks betty....!!

I did follow along...took a long time to get the hair unglued from my fingers to type this tho! LOL!

Blue santa is all done, except for embelishments....need white and silver I think...so back to Michaels tomorrow :o) then I'll be ready to post a pix.

now going to try to tackle the fur robes....but will need to amend the pattern for these, as that fur is really thick! may just make a simple robe to go over a gown underneath :o) will have to play with it tomorrow.

does anyone know if michaels sells the wooden base? I need two more! lol!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Anjl I think they would. Look in doll making, should be a wooden stand there and also clock models/making. Should be some round wooden clock faces there too. My Walmart has the round wooden clock faces that would work.

Glenview, IL

OK..Deb took a pic with my phone!

Can you see, it is ribbon.

I hope this works.

LOL, beard is a bit tricky...can't wait to see.

Glenview, IL

LOL, I guess you can't see
Doh, fergot the picture...hahaha.
LOL, gettin Santa happy here.

I'll check the doll section! thanks!

did any of you cover the base with felt... (to prevent table scratches etc? ) just wondering :o)

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

What a wonderful Idea! Walmart has those felt tabs in the hardware section.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

They have the felt squares in crafts, too!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I just covered my base in the extra velvet to match the robe;

Glenview, IL

I am back for a sec...
Yes, that was a really good idea.

Judy you are creative...

Pacifica, CA

santas are terrific!

betty thanks for posting the hair,i have three bags comming, now where can we find that mold for the face?

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

You guys are doing so great. We won't say what stage my poor Santa is in, but hope to make some progress this week/weekend!

Glenview, IL

Wow! Deborah...How Awsom! Love you Mystical Elf.

...Scarf and hood are all one piece.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Liz, the mold I have was purchased about 20 yrs. ago..was a chocolate mold that I did a mixture of glue and plaster of paris...

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks, Judy! That's a such creative way of doing his hood and it turned out beautifully. The wide trim really sets it off.

Deborah, are you sure you are new to sewing??????? That's awesome! Did you sew or glue the robe edging onto his hood? That's not easy to do either way. And river rocks! Too cool!

AnjL, good idea about the felt bottom. (adding to my long list of pilfered ideas)

Shuggins, don't worry. You're not the only one. If all else fails we can post photos of our Easter Santas!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Wow, Deb! That's beautiful!
Great hat ideas, Seed! Now I know how to do mine that I don't have enough fabrid for the scarves!

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Audrey, I forgot to answer your question. My santa's robe is a moss green. It's a faux suede fabric - would not recommend it. It's too thick to gather easily at the sleeves. I do like the color and texture and may use it for an outer vest on a future santa.

Wow Deborah... that is one HANDSOME Santa!!
Amazing work Sistah!!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I like that moss green!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Thank y'all. I glued the trim on shawl. I'm going to add hair to cover his mustache and get a close up so you can see he has on glasses. LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Looking forward to seeing it..my goodness your creative juices are flowing..lol..now how many more?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Guess I am going to have to print out everything. A blasted @#$% sinus infection with cold has put me out for now. Oh well, I am sure with our wonderful instructor and all the pictures I will be able to get mine done---when I feel much better than I do now.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You know I'll be around..hope it clears..let me know when you are ready to continue

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

We will all help you, Marion. You get well.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Thanks everyone--back to bed.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Wow, he's gorgeous...what did you use as little pressies...did you wrap them yourself..willthe next 2 be similar?

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Deborah that is great!!! Can't wait to see your next ones. If I had known you were staying up so late we could have continued to chat.....took my med at 5 instead of in the am, and was awake until after 4!!!

Marion, we can work together, I still have more to do!

Debra, thanks for the comments on the suede, I almost got some a few days ago.....glad I didn't......I am easily frustrated!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Deborah, please tell us where you go the little gold frame glasses from. Or did you make them? Very nice looking santa.
LK

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

I'll use the same fabric and fur until I run out. The fur sheds badly on to the velvet. The best two will go as gifts. The little presents were in the craft dept at Walmart and the glasses I bought were on a santa face tree ornament at the Dollar Tree. I broke them off and had to glue them best I could.
Thank you Betty for giving me the tip on the mustache. It really made a difference! I can't tell you enough our happy making this santa has made me feel. Thank you so much for taking your precious time to share your craft instructions with us.
Debra I do love your faux suede santa too! Making a vest for one would be cute too. The color green is perfect.
Trisha, I couldn't sleep. My aunt has been in ICU since Wednesday night. Shes in critical condition and it's been touch and go with her. I was at the hospital all afternoon again today and spoke with the Doctor. He's in high hopes she'll pull out of this. Two more days will tell for sure.

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

wow! love the santas so far :o) maybe it pays to wait and do mine after :o) you all will help with my creativity! lol!

went to Joannes today and they have felt squares for .25 cents each! yippee!!

so bought enough to cover bottom and top of the platform :o) also, they had a black felt there that on one side had the look of leather...so will be using those for the gloves on the rest of the santas :o) ....they had no round wooden bases, so I had to buy some 8" rectangular ones for mine and moms santas :( hoping they will work! lol! just gotta get DH to drill the holes in the base for the dowels :o)

and absolutely NO patterns for a fur santa coat :( may do a search online, if not... gonna have to wing it there! lol!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Will be saying prayers for her Deborah..as for the Santa's..it's been my pleasure..

Victoria Harbour, ON

sometimes on a wing and a prayers works well!
