Best & Worst, what did I learn today.

It's been so long since I started a thread, I wasn't sure I could remember how!

Glad you did, Pat, thank you!
I got a lovely offer today from 2 ladies at bowling, to help me packing. Then when I got home I found some boxes on my deck. Now I can start packing in earnest. I cleared out my closet shelves and have room for boxes.
I took an old paint can into the hardware store and they matched the colour so that I can paint over patches where I took down pictures and shelves. And I have a lot of those 😂

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Having the matching paint will sure make things easier!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Ok, I will be gone for a week. I leave in the next few minutes.

Silly me, I was up until midnight getting another quilt off the longarm. ONE more "done". it still needs binding but it's not coming with me.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

If I ever win a zillion dollars, I'll get a longarm quilter! Build a separate room for crafting, too!

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Thanks for the new thread Pat! Where are you off to now? Enjoy!

You're really on top of this, Susan. Will you be moving in to Winnepeg itself, or a more suburban area?

Had to drive to drop Hamish off for shows yesterday. He'll be away for a couple months with a friend of mine who is a professional handler. I'm hoping he'll get his Grand Championship. Got up at 4am yesterday, got home at 8:30. Drove to just south of Nashville TN and back. I'm exhausted today, but, had to take Charlotte an hour away for progesterone testing. We're planning one more litter with her. My vet is open 7 days a week for reproduction things, which makes it easier to get in.

Just got home with her, waiting to hear about hormone levels. In the meantime, I'm just going to crash on the sofa.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hi Deb
I'm moving to Winnipeg

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yes, Pat - my 2 birds are doing well together.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hurray - my paperwork came in from Canada Revenue, so I've forwarded them on to my mortgage broker so he can proceed in finding me a lender.
Also, when I changed banks I did not properly notice Service Canada that sends out my pension, so it didn't come in on Tuesday as it should. I called them yesterday, gave them my updated info & was told it would be 3-5 days for my pension to come in. It came in this morning, less than 24 hours after I called them! Hurray, all my bills are now paid!
Red Letter day lol

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

So happy everything is coming together for you Susan!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Exciting about taking your dog to be shown. This will be his time Deb?

Susan, things are chugging along. Soon you will be a position to move forward.

Linda, what are you working on? More one block wonders? I STILL have not done one!

Lake Chelan is about 4 hours away and it was beautiful area. the pink dogwoods were in full glory! The indoor pool was not used much in early evenings, and we had it to ourselves several times.

I quilted, played board games and used the pool. They ate out everyday, at least once I only joined them a couple of times. Too expensive and too many calories! I enjoyed it all so much and I am headed to their house July 3 thru the 7. Marie is headed back East later this month for a week. I enjoy our time together but enjoy it apart as well.

The quilts in no particular order: Peach & mint green, done while at Chelan. I was making them to fit batting & backings I have at home. the quilts are 72 x 84. 55 x 40, 40 x 40. 43 x 36. The colors are pretty dull compared to actual fabric. They are based on a pattern I bought. I was going to list the name of it but can't find it in my stuff! It started with a 8.5 block and had a 4.5 along one side and 3 @ 4.5 across the top. Then it had a few that were 2 @ 6.5 (instead of the 3 @ 4.5). It made it very easy to make a scrappy looking quilt with 12.5 blocks.

Quilt pattern is Flowers in the Garden by Sweet Jane's

Those quilts are really pretty, Pat.

He'll be staying with my friend from Florida, and she'll show him for a couple months, then, he'll come home and one of his sisters will go to Florida. He's already a champion, working on his Grand Champion title. At least that's the plan right now. I'm glad to have him out of the house. My girls are starting to come into season, and it seems like they go one after the other, so I have a bit over a month of boys being obnoxious. One less boy is good!
Planning on having another litter. Charlotte, the mother to the boy who just went to Florida, will be bred Monday. It will be a frozen semen litter, so they have to surgically implant the sperm. I'm really excited about this. Fingers crossed it works.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I'm SO excited. I told my neighbour yesterday that I will be selling my place & moving. Today he came by & said his friend is looking to buy, and so I phoned his friend. He'll (Chuck) come by tomorrow afternoon & look at the place. He doesn't want a large place so my 1,000 sq ft mobile would be good. He currently lives in Calgary & will sell his home there to move to this little hamlet. If he buys it (for cash), I'll have to find an apartment in Winnipeg to move to (and of course sell a lot of stuff HERE so I don't have to move it).

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Susan, Oh it would be wonderful to make your sale that fast without paying for professional help!
Deb, I can imagine getting as many males out of the house as possible would be a blessing! LOL
Linda, you out there somewhere?

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Oh, that's incredible news, Susan!! Praying all this works out for you!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am here. I check in daily, but it showed no new post.
Sorry I missed so much.
Thanks for the new thread Pat. Your quilts are beautiful.
Susan, praying all works out for your move.
Deb, good luck with your dogs.
My Lizzie had her pups on the 3rd. 2 gray females, 2 black females and 1 black male.
I woke up Thursday morning so dizzy, every time I tried to move,I passed out. My son called 911 and was taken to the hospital for 3 days. For some reason my blood pressure decided to go crazy. Every test was done. No stroke, no heart attack. I am on new blood pressure pills.

My home has sold, definitely. 1st of August at the latest. I may find some short-term rental in Winnipeg until then. I know that I don't have a place during July (my friend has company that month), but you never know what I can find in the meantime while I wait for housing to have an opening. Once in Winnipeg I can apply for housing, but not until then. I'm stressed out, but the Lord will provide. HE has until now - look how fast my un-listed home sold for. Mentioned to my neighbour on Friday, viewing set up on Saturday for Sunday, and sold on Monday!
So much to do, do, do! Sell & pack or throw out what I don't sell.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

GREAT news on the house Susan.
Linda, THAT was scary! 3 days in hospital was a stressful time as well when you have new puppies at home! Is Lizzie making enough milk this time? The little gray puppy looks so silky and wrinkly in that photo, too cute.
Marie spent a lot of time cleaning and organizing the back patio, it sure looks nicer. I need to get someone to install a watering system for the big planters. I am not interested in trying to water those daily (or more often in extreme heat). by hand. Too much work!
We also need to get estimates for a big pull down sun shade. The old one was impossible to take up and down, was in BAD shape. Going without a sun shade would be a poor decision. We have huge windows facing west into the sun. I am not interested in trying to water those daily (or more often in extreme heat). by hand. Too much work!
Marie and I have plans, she leaves for her daughters in MA for a week later this month.. I go in July to one son's. and still need to plan a trip to see the one of the others. We have already registered for a retreat in Oct. I think she is trying to find "another outing" to schedule for us. We have friends going on a cruise again soon. I wish we had an easy travel partner for her to go with. I really am more of a home body than she is and it would make life much easier for everyone if I could stay home and take care of the pets. .

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oh, Linda Kay - so glad that you're out of the hospital! I agree - scary & stressful!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, congratulations on the sale if your home.
Still not for sure what happened, doctors are saying it could be vertigo, maybe an ear infection, or just high blood pressure. Still going through testing.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Have you ever had vertigo before or high blood pressure?
I may be going to Winnipeg to check out an apartment. It's hard to find one that will accept budgies and fish, but I may have found one.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have had high blood pressure for years, but nothing serious. I have never had vertigo before.

Good luck finding an apartment.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

REALLY? I never thought the bird and fish would cause an apartment availability issue! Cats and dogs, yes. But a bird or fish? who knew!

I got the 2nd shingles shot yesterday. I have done NOTHING today. Sore and achy, tired.

Beautiful, BC(Zone 8b)

I came back to DG after a long hiatus. I tried to update a plantfiles entry but the data kept dropping from the file. I'm curious to know how DG is doing these days. I've been so focused on my small backyard nursery for the past few years. I did 2 orders of seed recently and hope it arrives tomorrow on my birthday. Found some cool plants recently. Google Pinus bungeana and check out the attractive bark of this pine. Unfortunately alot of my pics on DG are no longer upright as I had uploaded them. I tried to do Advanced Search but it seems to be broken. I had a quiet day but have so much to do in the nursery. I love picking plants to grow and have more focused on the rare/obscure and underutilized. Just thought I'd say hi!

I never thought fish or birds would hamper finding an apartment either. I hope you find the perfect place for you, Susan.
I've never gotten the shingles shot, I probably should. Just one of the many things I've procrastinated on. I've heard it's painful.
Welcome back Growin. I don't venture much farther than this thread on DG, but, the site seems to be pretty much a mess. I hope you stay and join us here.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I had the 2 part shingles several years ago. They never made me sore or sick.
Hope you are feeling better soon Pat.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I may have a townhouse to rent! Thank goodness for friends in Winnipeg. My friend Karen is searching for me, and has invited me to come to her place to get an orientation on the co-op and see the place. A basement, 2 bedrooms & a postage stamp yard! Hurray! I haven't had a basement since 2006! TWO bedrooms? Never thought I'd get THAT luxury! I'll likely head out on May 28th to see it & get an orientation. Nice area, too.

Frisco, TX(Zone 8a)

Shingles shots were no big deal for me. My son's partner got shingles at age 40. Very painful for a few months. Anything would be better than what she had to go through.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

That sounds perfect, Susan! Two bedrooms, and a yard, where maybe you can do a bit of gardening!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Praying it's what you need.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thinking about it, I told Karen that I couldn't afford it. It's 1/2 my income & then I'd have utilities & groceries on top of it. I don't have to have a townhome - an apartment is fine. It's the inside space I need, parking & a nice neighbourhood. Website says they have apartments and no waitlist (so not accepting applications) for either the townhomes or apartments. Karen says that's not necessarily so - they take applications on a "need" basis. We shall see. She's a good friend to help me this way.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Susan, praying you get the perfect "fit". A postage stamp size land of any kind would be a wonderful bonus.

Welcome back Growin, is THAT your greenhouse and gardening area??? HOLY COW!

Teacup, I have had several family members contract shingles and they said they would not wish it on their enemies, it was AWFUL. I arm is still a little red, ichy & achy. I am REALLY hoping to avoid all together! Good to see you post.

Deb, I am with you, even a tiny bit of something is better than nothing. I got permission for a barrel with flowers when I was in a tri-plex getting my MA. I did however, have the most awesome view of my neighbor gorgeous backyard. I felt I was cheating, All the view and none of work from my 2nd story balcony.

Linda, how are your quilts coming along? You have not posted pics lately.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I booked a flight on May 29th to Winnipeg with Flair Airlines - a basic airlines, so cheap as heck - under $60 one way. My friend Karen is getting some places for me to look at. I think I could manage the townhome - has a basement, too, so it will have the space I have now & then some. With utilities included, I should be able to afford it. It's a co-op, & I have the signup fees now. I've already sold about $1k worth of stuff & next Saturday it's the Car Boot sale & then my hamlet's yard sale on Sunday & Monday. Hope to meet up with Michelle while I'm there, too.

Welcome back Growin!
Teacup - I agree about the shingles. I know people who've gotten it and it's very painful.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I wish I could get a flight to ANYWHERE for just $60!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Happy mothers day ladies. We have not been sewing for about a month or so. My son has been traveling doing tattoo conventions. Sewing needs a serious clean up. Hope to get that done soon. Seems like everything gets shoved in there.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I'm with you, Linda Kay - serious cleaning needs to be done in my sewing room. I have more bins of material than I do of year round clothing, coats included 😂

Sounds like my sewing room disaster is in good company! ''I hope all of you had a wonderful mother's day.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I had a great Mother's Day, thank you.
Hope you all did, too

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Marie's alarm did not go off, I woke her up and got her to the airport in time. I get 7 days of taking care of the house & pets without taking into consideration helping out another human being. YES!!!
I got to dig up FREE flowers last night. My neices's coworker's grandfather's estate is going up for sale and it's 3 acres of "once beautiful gardens" that have been neglected for years. I wish I could tell which of the seedlings were PINK dogwoods. I do NOT want a white one. Somehow, I need to get more flower beds ready. That means shoveling off basalt rock and peeling back super heavy weight weed barrier.
