2ND VICTORIAN SANTA WORKSHOP..TODAY IS THE DAY!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Her name is Lisa and please everyone say prayers for her please. She's 9 months younger than I and we grew up together as sisters instead of aunt and niece.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Will include her in my prayers most certainly..was raised the same way..sisters at heart!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Anjl, make thea vest, instead of a coat. Maybe just a bit shorter than the robe, and opened in front instead of back. That's what I'm gonna do!

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

lol, do you have a pattern to share with me audrey?! teehee!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

So sorry Deborah, will keep both you and your Aunt Lisa in our prayers.

Betty, Oh Happy Dance!!!!!!! I got the Santa Face candy mold today and it looks like it will work quite well!!!

Anjl I agree, I am getting so many ideas from seeing other peoples projects, plus I have been taking pictures of some in the stores when I see one I like.

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

lol trish...thats exactly what I was doing today...the clerk started heading my way!! probably wanted to know why I was man handling the santas! LOLOL!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

LOL! Just use the same one for the robe, only maybe a little shorter!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Great ideas girls..Trisha looking forward to seeing santa done with your new mold..

By the way, posted on the Best/Worse and What did I learn today thread the recipe for the faces...

Running a bit behind, must run, talk when I get to the office..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Anjl, If your still trying to figure out how to do the fur outer coat, take a look at my purple santa, he has a velvet outer coat, and same color silky like dress underneath. I did not gather the sleves of the velvet outer coat, they are just hanging down.
Here is a close up. Hope you can see it.

Good idea. LK!

What you could also do is not sew up the back - leave the 2 edges open, put a 1/4" seam allowance on each side and trim with either the fur, or gold trimming whatever you like , then cut another piece to insert...once you've cut the the area the sleeves will fit in, add to the open front a section which will now become your robe and gather the pieces together..would work like a charm

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Hummmm. I might try that with one of my next ones. How could I make use of all the fur I have left over? It's really fluffy faux fur.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Are you Deborah cutting right through the layer of fur or are you putting your scissors just through the mesh/material holding it together..if you do it through the material/mesh you'll not get all the fluffy fur floating around?

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Deb, you could send it to me!!! LOL LOL LOL!!

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

for the outer robe on my blue one I just took the robe pattern and turned

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

I cut through the material holding the fur on then I have to sew a hem onto it to keep that fur line where I cut to stay put. It sheds really bad too.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Doesn't usually, if you put the point of your scissors onto the material and JUST cut the backing, little snips, it should not hardly shed..

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Thanks Betty, I am going to try some in the next day or two and see how they work......

Keep talking ladies!!! I am getting lot's of good ideas and information from you....thank you!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

It went into cyper space. LOL I had to go chase it down.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

LOL....Glad you caught it!!!!

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

Betty, on the fur coat santa...should I shorten the pattern so that it is not as wide around? its pretty thick and stiff material, so thinking if I go with 36 inches around... it wont drape right?

thank you for the tiddit about the cutting the fur! lol! I will definitely use that technique!

also.... what type of thread to use on thick fur? I have quilting thread...will that work?

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Yep she has crated monsters and we LOVE her for it!!!!

See how I am spending my evening now LOL

have a green one waiting for the finishing touches ..the sled is drying as DH stained it for me LOL

Anjl, Thick quilting thread should work well.

...on the fur pieces, try an exacto knife on the back side. (this way you only cut the mesh) you will loose some fur but not a much.

and here is why I've been gone......ROFLOL...Over even!!

Taking a breather,
Betty, OMG what did you do to me? LOLOL, I am sort of taken over with this one Santa!
..UH, one thing led to another, still haven't put faces on snowmen...but there props are almost ready!

Yahoooo, I just PODGED an ice table!!
...Did you know, podge does not dry any faster while you watchit.
hehehe, 2 good coats 2more to go.

LOL, I think I'm sort of dramatic here...
Someone slap me already!
...shake my head, blink, blink...coffee, tea, pop
oh my maybe Miller time!

Oh Gosh, I am obssesed..............

Glenview, IL

Big Smiles Phylis!!
He's just Slendid...What materials are you using??

love him!

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Thanks ...umm I just look at what walmart has and grab what strikes my fancy LOL
some have been a stretchy velvet type, the green one that is almost done is more of a curtain material and the gold is ummmm a light weight umm shiny one ..LOL
Hobby lobby had the sheer Christmas materials like I used on this one and the blue one that I put over the robe using the robe pattern and turning it around so the back was the front left open.
the trims are ribbons that are out for Christmas at Michael's and over in the ornament wood stuff is where I found the merry minis as they are called meaning the tiny lights and train.

now I best get my fanny to bed should have been there an hour ago at least ...LOL dang obsession here LOL

Glenview, IL

Well, Hands on the Hips here!! HOBBY LOBBY has material????
