I am really enjoying the Disneyland rose. It is new for me this year..I have not been a great orange fan..but after the California poppies and now this rose..I may be changing my mind...

My budlehia is huge. It was about 4 inches tall when I got it last season.
I am 5'4" and it must be twice and tall as me now. It is beautiful now that it is starting to bloom.

Beautiful roses, beahive.
Thanks, soferdig, Andrew is doing well. Slurp slurp is right! Think I'll tell him about the stomach tube option. Maybe it will make him feel better.

Here is Phlox 'blue paradise'.

Thanks for your kind thoughts, but I would rather smash my finger than sit on a knife. OUCH!! Finger is doing well, I can even type with this splint on now and still no pain.

Bea your roses are just super. So many blooms. Do you fertilize often and with what?
Lovely colors. So many blooms.

Pixi, Beautiful color in that last shot.

Whoops, Delph shot I meant.

Pixy..glad to hear your son is doing better. What a horrible way to spent your summer "vacation". beautiful phlox!

Thanks for the kind words willowwind. I fertilize only twice a year. Once in the fall before they rest for the winter and once again in the early spring when they start to show some signs of life. I did add alphalfa pellets this year to give that a try and have been using messenger since spring. It is hard to judge if these extra's helped, because they pretty well did well last year without all the extras. I have had many bushes with black spot and powdery mildew this year, but I am sure that is due to our cold and rainy"spring".
Let pray for perfect rose weather for next year..

tils that is a wonderful photo of the red dahlia - its almost like a Busby Berkley dance routine, I expect to see it move round and all the little fairy dancers opening and closing their feather fans.

so sad, oneanji, all the ones I wanted are sold out already.
Hi laurie! Long time no post!

Hi Pix, I think we have just been on different threads. But nice to catch up.

So, I guess things really ARE growing here. . .not as bleak as it seems I guess. Although some of this year's plantings are rather dismal, there is still lots of growth going on. Here is the "un"potager and the front bed. Just about everything visible in the front bed against the house was planted last year and is doing really well this year. The dicentra is just about done, but the hydrangeas are just coming out. The ligularia "rocket" is blooming as is the astible. The potager, on the other hand, seems to be presenting a mixed bag of success and not so successful. Nonetheless, I like the way it came out. And, I love the way the camera gave my house an arched roof line and an unusually shaped front door. Kinda wish it really looked like this!

Here is apparently the last of the asiatic NOID from the HD/WM mixed bag. Still waiting on the orientals.

Cyclamen, which has been a houseplant for several years. But I put it outside a few weeks ago and it apparently loves it. I will plant it in the Faerie Garden.

Okay...and this is something kind of odd on my Ligularia dentata 'Dark Beauty.' Noticed a lump on the stem of one of the leaves, which I have been watching. Then it gave birth to this ~ Any ideas? Teratoma? Alien? Normal? Not?

My lingularia looks like that also. THE THING is huge. I was hoping it was a bloom. Astilbe is not from me, sorry to say. Your garden area looks great and good pictures. Lily is lovely. ^_^

Port Angeles, WA(Zone 8b)

Willow ~ Thanks for that! I was concerned that whatever it is would start to devour everything else around it. Not huge yet, but definite huge potential. I was hoping for a flower as well, but alas and alack. . .still waiting. Astilbe must have come from Pixy, then, or OH WAIT! Maybe Poochella! I think that's who. Anyone hear from her lately?

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Beautiful pictures, Sheri. Just think what it looked like last year at this time. You've done a lot.

Port Angeles, WA(Zone 8b)

Thanks, Kathy. Yeah...I think that's what got me to thinking it isn't all that bad. It has come a long way, but patience is not one of my finer virtues! = S

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

It's too easy to focus on what hasn't been done. LOL

Hey - check this out tonight. I think it's supposed to be gone tomorrow. JOSS WHEDON.

http://www.drhorrible.com

I love it!! That is too good! Actually, Dr. Horrible reminds me a bit of my daughter's current boyfriend..... and everything that implies!! LOL!

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Oh. Pix. I'm so glad you like it. Have you seen the TV first-season series Firefly and the movie Serenity, also by Joss Whedon?

No, I don't have cable. I didn't know who these people were. Just finished watching it, and actually the ending part is pretty sad. I've heard of the movie, but I haven't seen it. Interesting social commentary. Geez, I hope the parallel between Dr. Horrible and my dd's boyfriend ends after the first scene!
