O good lord. Pixxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sorry my x key got stuck.
The poor boy, I always dreaded it when my son rode his, he never got hurt on it, But did on his 10 speed. waring no shoes and speeding down the street. Toe got in the spokes, flipped the bike and broke his shoulder. what a mess. Broken shoulder and mess up toes, couldn't wear shoes for weeks.
Sooo Sad for him. that is rough.

Yikes, Pixy! What an accident!!!!! He must be feeling pretty miserable. I imagine that it will take him some time to heal. How on earth do you feed a teenager enough food with jaws wired shut? Mine swallows things whole it seems and then ten minutes later is searching the kitchen for more.

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

Sorry Pix for your sons war wound but all fractures are memorable "man" builder stories. You need to break at least two or three bones in the pre adult years. Mandibles are good healing bones it is the teeth that take the bucks to replace. Oooooooh. Hope all goes well. I will be able to show pictures of Charlize when I get home in 2 weeks. None on this computer. Sorry.

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Steve, That does not make us Happy, Want to see the pretty Babe, the light of your life. And you have no PICs. Bad Grand Pa Pa. LOL

pixy..hope your son will be Ok soon. What a terrible thing to happen! My oldest daughter had a terrible fall from the top of a play structure at school when she was about 10 years old. An ambulance, backboard..the whole 9 yards! After examination, she had a bad back contusion and a broken wrist. Thank god for nothing more serious. The funny thing is, on the day she had her cast removed, my youngest fell off another structure at school and broke her wrist also.
The Doctor raised an eyebrow on that one!!

Well, plenty of milkshakes for your son..but no cheeseburgers & fries for a while.Poor thing! Sending this rose for your son.

The Hymenocallis festalis aka Peruvian daffodil, from this years Sorticulture are blooming. The yellow ones don't show up well in the photos but are an interesting adjunct.

Closer peek.

Balvenie, those are very cool!!
sofer, I've had enough with 'war wounds'. I hope this is the last one for him. Fortunately, his teeth were untouched. I was charmed by that, I can tell you. The braces came off just last week. First thing I did after registering his 'my jaw is broken' was look at his teeth.
Mauryhill, I share your concern. Getting enough calories/nutrition into him is a complete challenge, especially since the pain meds take his appetite away. He still needs them, though.

Here's a fuzzy photo of Abutilon 'red tiger'.

I don't know what these lilies are. They were mislabeled. But I like them anyway.

The perennial part of the front border is coming into bloom. Love those Helenium 'moorham beauty'. They'll be blooming the rest of the summer if I deadhead.

Good pictures everyone. Love that red Flowering Maple. Mine is pink.

Pixie Give my best wishes to your son. Poor baby. V-fusion, Ensure, V-8 all good things to drink.

Snohomish, WA

Plan on digging that flowering maple up before the first frost or you will have dead thing for sure!
My son played football thru school and I feel for you pixy! Worst day of my life when they got me out of the stands to see if I wanted to ride to the hospital with my son. Turned out ok, but the feeling is horrible! So glad he survived! Your son must be getting sick of food thru a straw! Hope he gives up the skateboard thing, but at least he is outside doing things and not sitting on his butt playing video games and getting in trouble on the computer. Hope he gets better soon!
And Tills, the crocs and chicks and hens saved me from a drownig in the tub!

Wow, Beahive! I hope some of my glads turn out to be that pretty. I've never grown them before and there was a coop here on DG that had awesome deals. I went a little 'glad crazy'.

NWGordon, I know you feel my pain! Football!! I don't think I could bear it. There should be a club for people who have raised sons to adulthood in one piece. Andrew is doing MUCH better today. He's taking less pain medication for one, and that makes a big difference in his functioning. We saw the surgeon today and he was thrilled with how things are progressing, so we were very relieved.
The abutilons are in large pots. I overwinter in the greenhouse and have learned that it's easiest to keep them in large pots and then just 'place' the pots where I want them. No digging, no disturbing roots, etc.

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

Pixy..hope you get some pretty ones. I had to replace all my glads this year as I did not know that they are not hardy in the PNW. Ex CA girl..where everything can stay in the ground. I am learning..the hard and expensive way!!
This delphinum was hiding way back in the flower bed. It would be very pretty next to the glad I just posted. Wheels are spinning for next spring already!

My cat Feisty was enjoying my Strep this evening. I was out watering & taking pictures and she was alone in the house. Playing hide and go seek with herself. Funny Cat!

That baby blue delph is the prettiest thing i've ever seen.

Your tub is great NWG.

I smashed my middle finger of my right hand a few hours ago and went to the ER. I think i will be just reading for a few days.

Best of recovery WW you need to be more careful. I stuck a fillet knife in my butt yesterday when I was kayak fishing. No stitches just hard to sit down.
Tills how did you paint on those flowers such pretty red? LOL
Nice perenial bed Pixy! Hope young master is doing pain free by now. Slurp slurp. Just think we have to put in a stomach tube because none of our patients can suck through a straw.
