Whats Blooming part 4

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

I got this little seedling (not anymore) at Rachel's from someone. All I know is that the tag said ' Perfect mix' Can someone tell me what it is?

That might be Nicotiana?

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Nice lilies and dahlias!!

Mary, I agree with Patricia. That looks to me like nicotiana.

Sorry, Tills. That one was from me and yes, it's Nicotiana 'perfect mix'. It's from Select Seed. I love this mixture because some of the seeds produce an almost periwinkle blue bloom. I've not seen that color anywhere else on a nicotiana.

Just downloaded a few photos. Here is 'Giraffe'. An appropriate name for this very tall lily. I hope the rain doesn't knock them down.

That is gorgeous. Wow!

What do you mean by SORRY? Pix. Love it. So far its the only one that likes me.
I thought it was but wanted to make sure, not haveing any luck with the rest.
I LOVE THAT LILY To cool.

Well, what I meant was that I should be better about labeling pots when I'm giving them away. I think I just got lazy with that one. don't feel badly about the others not doing so well. I lost a lot of little seedlings this year due to the cold weather we had. I know lots of people did. It was a terribly disappointing spring. A lot of the plants I gave away early on didn't even end up doing well for me, even though I germinated them. Blah! Next year I'm going to be more discriminating.

I got the heucheras today! Thanks for babysitting them! I will share babies as they get bigger. i cannot wait to see them bloom. They are so special since they come from Laurie.

I was sure you meant it that way was just making a funny, sorry it came across wrong. I lost alot too, 3 that I bought at Heidi's last fall.

So glad you got them, I have some too. Was so worried how I could get them to you and afraid something would happen to them while in my care, sign of relief when I found out Gordon was going to meet you and come out to Heidi's.
Laurie sent me some Hellb seeds, I did so well with the frist ones, though we would try it again. I have one for you, but didn't send it yet. still to small to leave the nest. and want to give this to you in person next time we meet. ^_^

I'm so glad the heucheras are with both of you - okay, I accept they are special because they came across the fond, but they are really special because they are very different from most heucheras - I love their silvered leaves as they mature, but it is the tall tall dark terracotta racemes that I just love - really very different. I'm not really sure of their providence - I got them from Graham Gough who owns Marchants Hardy Plants (what a marvellous garden he has, but a very limited website - I think he needs Neofarmer to go do some photos for him). But I suspect he may have gotten them from Elizabeth Strangman* when he worked and trained with her. Either way, both of those gardens are in East Sussex (nr me), and I have never seen the plant anywhere else, or seen it listed - perhaps we should put it in the plant files at some point.

I hope it grows well for both of you - I do love the idea of it spreading throughout our network.

*misspelled name - corrected it.

And there is something about the name 'brown finch' that is just sweet. So unassuming, and yet so completely right. I'm looking forward to those blooms. They sound much softer than some of the heuchera blooms I've seen. I grew a whole lot from seed this year and ended up ripping out most of them because the blooms were this garish shade of red that just didn't do anything for the plants around them. I could have just snipped the blooms off, but that would have been an on-going job and I do have enough of those lately.

Onanjl - beautiful blooms on your Brug. It likes the heat down there, I'll bet. Hope you're on the mend soon.

Ohh . . . it's beauful. Mine is still pretty little, but it's got big leaves (doesn't know that it's still little. LOL) and it's putting out new leaves, too. It's in its own pot, as are my little starts from Pix, so that the slugs don't get to it until it's older. Although my slugs are climbers, too, so I do regular rounds keeping them away. So far so good.

And it' so special that I got it from you!!

Oh yes, the hydrangeas are at their peak!! Hydrangea Lane is bursting with bloom. This one is 'Amethyst'. It's hard to get the right color on the computer, but it's really dark cobalt blue with a hint of purple. The one in the background is from a cutting I took two years ago. I don't know the name of it, it's from the garden across the street.

And here is Ayesha, blooming with Komanche.

Thumbnail by

This one is 'My Sharona'. I bought this two years ago from Big Dipper farms. These are the first blooms I've had.

Thumbnail by

This is a white lacecap I've had for about 15 years. I brought it over from my other house when I moved. I have no idea which one it is but it blooms like this every year.

Thumbnail by

This one is 'Pia'. This hydrangea is a different color each year. The first year I had it, the blooms were absolutely hideous. They were this muddy shade of pink. The next year I had the most astounding red/purple/lavender mixture. It was really cool. Last year they were more purple. This is from this year. At least it's entertaining!!

Thumbnail by

Okay, I'll stop with the hydrangea. I have a lot of hydrangeas. Never too many, though.
This lily is called 'Nymph'. she's a keeper.

Beautiful pictures everyone! Rachel

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Rachel!! I've missed you.

Pixy - beautiful hydrangeas. I think one of the mature cuttings you gave me is Komanche. And she surprised me with a beautiful bloom this year. Thank you again.

Yes, I think you do have a Komanche. Already a bloom? It must like you! Got to say that the first time I saw that plant it was in a full sun location and it looked pretty bad. The color was washed out, and in general it looked sort of 'dry'. I wasn't sure I was going to like it. I have mine in full shade, though light shade, and it loves it there.
Nice daylily mbabbitt! I wonder why mine don't look that lush? I don't seem to get those nice groups of blooms on my daylilies. I grow a lot of the spider types. Maybe that's why.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

I have it in a spot where it gets morning sun, but light shade after noon. It's gorgeous.

Love that Spanishglow and the multiple blossoms.

Bothell, WA

Yes, Spanish Glow has a very high bud count and it is blooming great this summer.
