Thanks for the kind words willowwind. I fertilize only twice a year. Once in the fall before they rest for the winter and once again in the early spring when they start to show some signs of life. I did add alphalfa pellets this year to give that a try and have been using messenger since spring. It is hard to judge if these extra's helped, because they pretty well did well last year without all the extras. I have had many bushes with black spot and powdery mildew this year, but I am sure that is due to our cold and rainy"spring".
