On Mt. Bailey?
To cool I want to know too.

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

lol, mt bailey is the huge pile of dirt that DH put in the middle of my garden area last yr :o(
I sprinkled a bunch of seeds from the Mixed Nuts swap on it...and now I'm trying to figure out what all is growing there! lol! MT Bailey with flowers is now about 9 feet tall! lolol!

Here is another unknown growing there...maybe hollyhock?

Thumbnail by 1AnjL

That last one is a malva called 'zebrina'. Once you have it, you'll always have it somewhere, but not too much of it. It's fairly well behaved for a reseeder and the flowers are really nice. That first one has a gentian-like flower but the leaves don't look much like it. Maybe someone else will know.

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

okay here is another... is this one hollyhock?
the flowers on this one are really big. starting to bloom at the bottom of the stalk similar to glads, but I'm not sure if thats because it was so crowded in there that it wasnt getting sun! lol!

this mt. bailey project really has been alot of fun...except for the morning glory take over! lol!

Your blue flower is a convulvulus. I grew them one year & they do reseed.

This is a Clematis gone mad, I have a big mound, Sorry Pix's don't know what I did, but it likes it. I have neglected it (sorry to say) Roots are not shaded, and it is nuts LOL

This one is really gone, started to come back and that last freeze did it in, but have is brother and he is okay, going to take starts off of him.

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

to take starts, do you just do a cutting and then stick in soil?

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

A little Rootone and yes, sometimes it will root itself, I tryed on new shoots in spring did not work, maybe the older stalks. the ones I have came from someone just sticking them in nice soil and they rooted. same with my Fushia.
It came as a stick.

Tills, you are magic with clematis. I don't think mine ever look that good.

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Tilly - most of my Clems are in full sun - no shade at roots & they get whacked back hard.
You just gotta love a plant that puts out so much for so little!

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

I have not cut them back at all, maybe that why its just having a ball LOL
But I have to this year I need to treat the arbor, don't want to use a farie brush to paint it, now thats just to much work :-D

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

Is that 'David's' head sticking out of the Jackmani clematis Tills? LOL I get to go home and play in my garden for 3 weeks today. I haven't had but 2 days this summer to enjoy my creation. Oh boy! Then I can get some photos on this page and talk a little more. I don't cut mine back either Tills because it just provides a climbing stalk to grab on too.

My Mom has one clematis that says not to cut it back. It blooms beautifully each year on old wood. I'll have to find out which it is.

I'm still trying to work on using the macro. Here's who I found in the roses tonight.

Lily

I love the closeups of those insects! I saw a tiny beetle today that was entirely gold! It looked like it had been painted with pure gold paint. Wish I'd had my camera.
I had to post this combination. Who knew that orange, red, and purple looked so good together?

This lily is Oklahoma City. It's with Helenium 'moorham beauty' and some other stuff.

This lily is labeled 'Red Hot', but I'm pretty sure that's wrong. Now I have to figure out which one this is. I wonder if it's Red Dutch.

Pix just love those Lilies.

Still behind you Bea, my Laritris has not opened yet, soon.

Great pics.

Eugene, OR

Thanks Bea, the hardest part that evening was waiting for the bug to stay still and the breeze to let up at the same time. Lol

Beautiful lilies Pix, I wish the blooms would stay longer. I love your color combinations.

thanks, Sally. I do love combining plants, although sometimes the disappointment is tremendous when things don't work out. Tonight I was looking at the 'lily bed' and realized that what I am really trying to do is make it where everywhere I look there is a boquet of flowers growing. These bloomed today. This one is Honeymoon. I do like it with the canna leaves.

And Boogie Woogie with bear breeches. The smell is intoxicating!

I for one think you have succeeded in your "natural bouquets", who needs vases?

I love the lilies. But OMG that rose is BEAUTIFUL!

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

Sally..it is a new one I purchased bareroot this spring. It is doing very well for the first year. The blooms are huge and it is a pretty soft while with the pink edging..no disease so far and the bugs don't seem to congregate on this one lile some of the others I have. It's a keeper for sure!

Shot this bumble bee today.. getting ready to land in the lavender

That's a beauty for sure, I draw the line at bumble bees though. Would have to be a really good zoom! haha

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Wow. Those tomatoes are awesome. And I envy you your red dragonfly. I love to watch them and have quite a few, but none that are red.

Vashon, WA(Zone 8b)

I have quite a few tomatoes, but none that are red, and no red dragonflies either, but lots and lots of bees.
It seems like I've been waiting for weeks to see this bud open. Can't remember the name of it, but my first lily of this type.
