Where did you get that username?

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

My screen name comes from my cat as well. I also use it for selling books on Amazon and collectables on eBay. I'm originally from CA so when I needed a "name" I looked at my cat who is a CT rescue and there it was - A Yankee Cat - without the spaces.

miata...I think what threw me was the 'blu' part...is that a color? LOL

Welcome aboard both of you!

Handles are so interesting!

Brunswick, MD(Zone 6b)

I started with the screen name blgmiata on other sites, which is my intials (BLG) + my car, until my brother started calling me big miata! Thanks for the welcome :)

Just found this thread. Well the "green" part is a shortened version of "greenthumb" which I'm always aspiring to. The "elf" is a shortened version of my real name, Elfrieda; as most of my friends call me either elf or elfie. I usually answer to both.

I saw one posting of someone's Welsh corgi. I used to own two --- beautiful dispositions. The Cardingshire corgi does have a tail; it's the Pembroke corgi (which the Queen has) that doesn't have a tail. Oh, yes, BTW -- "Corgi" is Welsh for "dwarf". They were bred centuries ago to traverse the mountains and hill to herd the crofters sheep and cattle -- and to guard their children. It's a very, very old breed. I miss my corgis you can tell.

But....but....your name is orchid923.....

Indian Harbour Beach, FL(Zone 10a)

Ooops -- it's my other "one". Just ignore me -- I've been out in the heat too long !!!!

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

Okey dokey greenelf... :-D

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 8b)

Nice to meet you Greenelf, Elfie, Elf, WelshCorgi, PembrokeCorgi, and Orchid923..did I leave anyone out? Ü

Indian Harbour Beach, FL(Zone 10a)

Please don't confuse me any more than I am at the moment !!! Oh, what the heck -- I'll answer to anything......

Arias is the angel of sweet smelling herbs. I chose this name because I love lavender and lemon balm so much. I love all herbs, and I also collect garden angels.

I'm a lifetime WeightWatcher and joined DG when I was at the tip top of my physical conditioning. I ate Cheerios for breakfast almost every day as a weightwatcher (I actually like them), but "Cheerio" was taken. I'd also been going to the gym everyday for 2-1/2 yrs and was feeling great. Hency, "Gymgirl."

Which reminds me that since I'm almost 15 lbs. over my goal weight and can't attend a free meeting until I get in line again, I need to go to the GYM! And start back on my Cheerios!

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

I'm a life member too - that has lapsed!! It would have been easier to just pick a higher goal weight!! LOL!

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 8b)

Hi Arias and Gymgirl!

I'm kind of a gym girl myself and I love Cheerios....have you tried the new crunchy one?

You can't attend a meeting if you aren't at your goal weight? I thought that was the point.

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

Fly,
Yes you CAN attend a meeting if you're not at your goal weight - it's just not free, and you have to pay the regular monthly meeting fee...

When you're at (or below) your GW, you attend the monthly meetings for FREE...

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 8b)

Okay, I get it, thanks Gymgirl!

This thread is fun. I've often wanted to know the story behind many usernames. I usually use sunrise for my screen names because I love early morning, especially watching the sun rise. It think it must have been taken because I opted for my other standby which is related. It comes from a Psalm - 'When morning dawns and evening fades, You call forth songs of joy.'

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

Absolutely beautiful!!

Crossville, TN(Zone 6b)

I will have to look up the Psalm. I love it.
My DH signed me up and I never changed it. He used his initials.
LInda

For me, it's just simply my name + plus the age I wanted to stay at the Previous year. hehe so I guess I gave away how old I am. :o)

I just found this thread--wow! what original names some of you guys came up with! Mine is not all that original--it is a contraction of my names-- Marilyn Sue --therefore I came up with 'marsue' --easy enough, huh! and to my grandchildren (8 of them) I am Ma Susie

murmur--I am with you--my youngest child is soon to be 36 --he was born when I was 30--just gave away my age, but I don't feel like a senior citizen--age is all in the mind and I still think I'm 30 - Ha!
My oldest grandson is 22, for heaven's sake! I can hardly believe it myself!

(Zone 1)

Just popping in to read some more about folks and their user names! I love the uniqueness of some of the names y'all choose! I have no imagination whatsoever when it comes to things like picking usernames ... or even naming our pets! Some people just have a knack for it, but not me!

Well, I am heading out to do yard work! Days like this make me feel my age .... 59! I have been saying for a few years now that I hope I'm not still having to mow the lawn and do all the yard work at 60. We talk about selling the house when hubby retires and buying a townhouse .... looks like I will be mowing a few more years - he's thinking he will work until 70!! I'm afraid if that's the case we will have to hire someone to do the yardwork. My Dear MIL was mowing and doing stuff like that at the age of 90 .... she was an inspiration but I know I physically won't be able to handle all the work at that age!

Have a wonderful day everyone!
