This thread is fun.
My name comes from the fact that I study zen meditation and I work in clay. In reality I am not a potter I make sculptures in clay, but zensculptor didn't just seem to fit the day I chose my name.
Where did you get that username?
I love your name! Zen is one of my favorite words. It says it all!
I tend to think so too.
What can I say? Just call me Miss Originality! LOL
And we are glad you are Katy!!
Glad you didn't stick with garandausmom D, that would be a hard one to use when your sleepy! lol!
The zenpotter is really peacefull, nice choice.
Billyporter, your's is still the one that grabs me, I keep having to say to myself "it's a she not a guy". See I don't have a clue who Billy Porter is, and can't relate to that.
;-)
Dwerland is alot easier to pronounce lol
I figured Zenpotter was a very disciplined potter!
Katy....original is good :)
Shelia, actually there is another Billy Porter. I saw him on ''Ellen,'' I think. Anyway, he's a singer, but he's black. Mick Ronson is English and from the 70's. Sigh, I miss the 70's.
SCENE: "Billy Porter" seems to be a popular track from PLAY DON'T WORRY. You wrote that, right?
RONSON: Yes, it was the first time I had written lyrics for one of my own songs. David had written some lyrics for songs on SLAUGHTER and I decided that I had to learn to write my own sooner or later. As it was, "Billy Porter" is a sort of a joke song. We'd had this friend named Billy and he told a lot of jokes, so the song was originally a joke song. But then I was thinking about Lou Reed in New York--because I'd just been talking to Lou before that. So, the lyrics came out of me thinking about things Lou had told me about getting mugged in New York and the joke parts I'd already written.
Well I got that one wrong! LOL!
Oh dear me, I am not very disciplined in my clay work at all.
zen
Zen....I have lots of artist friends...and know that artists ARE artists because they get bursts of inspiration...and then after the work is done and the art is created....just "zen-out" for awhile. Then another inspiration appears that just makes you HAVE to act on it..etc. So, true as you responded...not disciplined in the traditional way...but then who ever heard of an engineer/ disciplined/ organized type who was also an artist??? LOL (I know I might get some responses to this....I suppose there ARE some out there...)
Cocoa, do you make chocolate?
I'm sorry ......friends forever?
As far as I'm concerned chocolate is the ONLY gift! lol
I am fly's almost nearly best friend.
Who's ceejaytown?
Oh, me too.....(((((me waving!!)))) People get CJ and I confused, so we need to stick together. LOL
Cocoa, are you coming to College Station in November, you can bring chocolate to swap for plants!!!!
Well, there goes my cruise for sure!!!
OK - Cruise back on!
cocoa....I don't have friends that are that shallow....BTW....I can pick up that cooler for ya on my way lol
There ya go Cocoa, we will send back plants. LOL!
Guess the cruise is off again CJ?
Aaaarrrrggggghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lulu, I will be nice to you even without chocolate : - )
Connie that pretty much describes me. To add a twist to the whole mix at one time I taught both art and high school math. Now it is art and gardening.
Dees, how lucky you are to have your own nursery!
Looks like you sell more than treez. lol
As with alot of people my name comes from one of my pets. His real name is Andy but ever since he was a kitten he has been OBSESSED with dirt. He will tip over any house plant and start rolling around in the dirt. He almost tries to swim in it for some reason. So, after a few instances of finding my house destroyed and my cat coated in dirt his nickname became "the dirt tiger". Needless to say I can no longer have any house plants. And his name seemed fitting for a gardening website!!!
Cute name dirttiger!
I have had my cats do that and I had to resort to stinky mothballs.
I grow cactus in the house and the cats don't bother them. Although there is one that they like to rub against and use it like a brush.
There are some really neat origins to some of the usernames. I am fairly new to DG but I have been enjoying it immensly.
I grow alot of herbs and have a cat that loves to dig them up and roll in them. I give her homemade catnip toys but it doesn't slow her down much.
Hi everyone!
Couldn't resist this thread!
My -Hiraeth - Hiraeth is a welsh word (I'm a fan of welsh culture). It means "to long for something", or "longing".... In portuguese we have a similar word, it is "saudade".
I love the sound of it, (hee-rah-eth)
Well, call me crazy!....
Love
MyHiraeth, aka Fernanda
Beautiful!!! I love Welsh/Irish/Scottish culture, too!
Welcome MyHiraeth! That's a very pretty word, thanks for the pronunciation, mine was way off.
Hi!
Thank you Ceejay and Fly Girl! The welsh culture is really fascinating, and has surprising similarities with the portuguese. It's probably our common celtic origin. For instance, the phonetics in welsh are much the same as ours, with a few exceptions..
Ceejay, forgive the stupid question, does ceejay mean C.J.? If so, what do the initials mean?
Fly, if you ever need tips on languages and pronounciation, call on me! It's my other passion! :-)
Love
MyHiraeth
Yes, CJ stands for my first and middle name, but I go by CJ....
I didn't realize that Portugese was the origin of the celtic language! Did I understand that correctly? Interesting!! We visited Ireland last year and fell in love!
I chose me name because we live in what we call "Our Cozy Little Nest on Cedar Street" Corny...I Know. What can I say? : )
Pretty neat I'd say.
cedarnest.....I don't think it's corny, it's sweet.......and who doesn't like cedar?
I love it.
