Best/Worse/What did I learn today? A blessing room for friends of old to Chat and a group that ALWAYS welcomes newcomers..come sit a spell!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear that.
Don't over do it after your injections.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I am glad to hear you will get your injections sooner.

My SIL Sharon called, she brought me more rocks for the landscaping project AND dinner! We had a nice chat & dinner together. She retired just a few months ago and is physically working harder than ever. She watches her grandson before & after school. She is cleaning up the landscaping at the church she attends & helps her mother with house keeping and outside stuff.

Bit stormy this morning, -15, not sure what wind factor is..sun now retrying to come out

Lordy Lordy my doctor was in a very bad mood..two are doctors have Covid so he and few others retrying to pick yep the slack..think he is giving an end of life injection this afternoon..gather that by a conversation he was having on the phone so didn’t ask a lot

He did refer me to specialist, new med to try but still renewed my prescription for Tylenol 3 incase the new med (font know the name) doesn’t work for me.

Injection in shoulders and left hip so am sore
Having lunch/supper now, hot bath and we will see if i feel up to doing something this afternoon

Guess you are all busy

Verona, ON

Stormy day here. Big fluffy snowflakes. -30 with the wind chill overnight.

Couldn't sleep last night so I have been dragging all day. The TH have to make do without any walks. It is glare ice under the newly fallen snow.

Betty glad the doc left you with some painkillers. What are the injections he is giving you ? To quote my sweet dad "this getting old is for the birds."

Stay well and safe.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am here. Just being lazy today. Hubby and I went to Applebee's for valentines lunch today. Enjoyed our time with a perfect margarita.
Praying the injections and new pills work for you.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Spent the day at a dog show. I didn't show, but brought my puppy for socialization. He did really well, and didn't seem to mind all the noise and people and other dogs. I'm beat, and it wore him out, too.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Hope the shots will help you Betty.
Managed to get a small bit of shopping done and then to Hooters for lunch. We love their wings. I love I can order the flats I like best and just plain no seasoning or sauces. I don't like that they don't serve hot tea. When I know we are going there, I take a tea bag with me and they are happy to bring me a cup of hot water. Didn't carry my purse today so wasn't prepared. Wings were very good though.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Karen, that surprises me that they would provide the hot water when you bring your tea bag in. So many places would NEVER let any outside food/drink come in. VERY kind of them!!
Dog shows sound exhausting!
Glare ice, count me out. I have enough trouble staying on my 2 feet without ice.
I hope the injections & new med help Betty.
Linda, that is my sister's favorite drink.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lordy it’s -24 with a feel like -30 so it’s COLD.

When my girlfriend Barb and I drove to Texas and spent a month travelling around, she has now passed on, was in 1990, she drank 3-4 cups a day, brought her tea bags with her and if the restaurant did have hot tea I don’t think she was ever turned down.
If my memory is correct with year it was the year there was an oil spill so we moved on to Padre Island, even went over to Mexico for the day. I’m rambling

Dianne, best to rest, dogs won’t miss their walk for a few days especially in this cold..are you still reading when we lost our heads”? I am where the 2 girls start their friendship..lately when i decide to read 8n bed i read so little and fall asleep.

Deb, just socializing for the pup at shows and his accepting all turmoil around him is good. How far from you was the show?

Your lunch at Hooters sounds great Karen, a reward for walking the mall and shopping.

Pat, we have to be careful out there, like you there is a light layer of snow and you don’t see the glare ice. I told Joe not to come and do it, at least with the snow there is a bit of grip.

As for the injections, usually a few days it hurts, today it feels on fire.

Little Ezra comes at 10, he was to come yesterday afternoon but i wanted to do groceries after my doctor appointment..gave mom option to cancel and come next week or this morning, they chose this morning..hopefully he will finish his jammies.

I have 2 tiger blocks (alternate direction) 1 Miss Emma block to do for kitty quilt, then 24 paws..might get my laser cutter out and see how i do with stencilling them, embroidering paws it seems regardless of what i do they pucker a bit.

Took out hamburger and peppers out, have a hankering for stuffed peppers for supper.

Might go under back deck, hoping i put Valentine’s Day totes there vs back shed, I’m sure before bed tomorrow nigh valentines day will be put away ..

That is my day, what are you all doing?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty there are two restaurants who do not have hot tea and both are very good to bring me the water. I offer to pay the price of a cup of coffee but they never charge me. Here in the south sweet iced tea is all the thing. In the summer I order unsweet and use my sweetener in it. Not quite as delicious but will do.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Great they do so, know we had no trouble..even Linda does same if no hot tea..sweet cold tea i don’t think is a thing.

Just put stuffed peppers in oven and baking a cake..something to fill in my day..

7 year Ezra came over to finish his pj’s this morning..he is feminine, wanted lace 9n the bottom lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good job on the jammies.
Betty, I don't think I would leave my home if it were that cold.
We are watching the duper bowl.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Yeah, me too Linda! I don't deal well with the cold anymore.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Happy Valentines day everyone.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, just opened my door, thought I would check if I put the totes for Valentine’s Day under the back deck but the cold attacked me as soon as door opened…need to get my prescriptions in town but i just might wait til tomorrow, might be warmer..another day or two won’t kill me.

Happy Valentines Day to all, hoping you are doing something special 8n celebration of the day but for me it brings back memories and focuses on my being alone, big sigh but that is ok, I’ve enjoyed my pretties for a month.

Think the cold has a bit to do with body pain..

When you gals say you couldn’t live in the cold i think come summer when you barely can go outside winless you have AC then i sit out and enjoy our beau.titular spring and summer.

I still can’t get over that March last year we saw no storms, that my outside gardening was done and that the pond shortly up and running, Lordy that is but 3 weeks away.

Sharon messaged me late last night, just saw the message, she had to put down one one of her puppies..a girl..she was off to bed and very upset.

Think I will bring upstairs a cutting Matt, ruler and cut to size the squares i have done as well as cut the borders..that should keep me busy.

Will not have to cook today, made 4 stuffed peppers, mashed potatoes and veggies, took all my time to eat 1, so mega left overs.

What is on your agenda..

Prayer for Joyce (Joycet) Ohio, surgery this morning on her hip!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Oh poor Sharon, that is heart breaking.

Last week a friend brought me flowers and they are still nice!! Valentines day is not one of my favorite holidays. Come to think of it, neither is Mother's Day, all holidays have lost their luster for me.

I am off to cut Phil's hair and see if Marie needs any help with her quilt top. We are encouraged to have them ready to show on Wednesday at our final meeting of the embroidery BOM. Yesterday she said she had the top together except the borders.

I cut up into about 1 inch pieces all the cut off batting & fabric, made a cotton case, then a fleece removable cover for a new kennel pad to donate to the pet shelter. Stanley does NOT agree with my choice. He thinks it should be another place for him!

Victoria Harbour, ON

You will have to make them another, Stanley wants that one. I’m enjoying having Sharon interested in sewing/quilting like you have Marie..sometimes we are on track but sometimes the other can catch something we don’t see..you have a great set up there Marie.

Got a message from Joyce, she is out of surgery, all ok.

I had my iPad on coffee table, had danger sign on it..sun is so hot it caused the warning…hard to understand with sun that hot why temps wouldn’t be warmer outside.

Just brought my cutting map and supplies upstairs, will have a bite to eat then start cutting my blocks to size.. they are so colourful

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear Sharon had to put a puppy down. Was the puppy sick?
Beautiful flowers Pat. Stanley looks very comfy.

Glad to hear Joyce is out of surgery.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

So sorry to hear about Sharon's puppy. Regardless of the issue, that has to be a difficult decision to make.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, -15m but bright…with girls coming and warmer weather i did the back area as there was only 3 or 4”,:took me but minutes, pushed shovel filled with snow into drive, seconds later my main plow guy came..

Time to have my coffee then head downstairs and tidy up a tad before PAT and June come. Wow come Wednesday high temps with rain, what a mess that will make.

Yes, Sharon is having a difficult time with the loss of this dog…think personally it’s getting hard on her and she shouldn’t do breeding.

Spoke to my boys yesterday, both are getting excited for their flight to Newfoundland to enjoy snowmobiling on lands no man has ever travelled..am sure some great photo’s will be taken

Well I’m ready for St Patrick’s day,,, one room

Verona, ON

Good morning everyone. Still very cold here but it is sunny.

Give Sharon a gentle hug from me Betty. It has to be so hard for her. I could never breed my dogs. I would just be so emotionally involved I would have trouble even giving the pups to new owners. I say gentle hug Betty as I don't want you straining your neck and shoulders.

Yesterday I saw the Neuro Optha doctor. 10 years out and still some problems. The right eye is in good shape. Whew ! I knew that as I it shows in my everyday activities. My left eye still has effects of the residual tumour and it might be as good as it gets. I have to have laser surgery to take a film off of the eyeballs so that might help with my vision.

Hope you had a good Valentine's Day. Like Pat I never have made such a fuss about the holiday. I stopped at Foodland on my way home and there were scads of guys buying flowers. My friend who was with me said "wonder if they are buying out of guilt or love?" Never thought of it that way.

I am going to bundle up and get the TH out for a walk. It has been so cold we haven't walked for a few days. Kai is just bonkers and needs that energy release.

Stay safe and well.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Yep, you need a hot walker like they use for the horses! Pets and kids, wish I had some of their energy!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

My sis called and asked if we could come over today. The smoke alarm in her new house kept beeping and her hubby was out of town. She's no better on a ladder than I am. As we walked in the door, first thing I saw was my mother and grandmother before hers old Singer treadle. I told my sis she better hide it if Jess came over as she is hunting for one. Sis said if Jess wants it, just take it to her. She's happy to know it will stay in the family. Jess cried when I got home and we got it unloaded.
I started sewing at age 8 and by then my mother had gotten a newer singer. This one just sat covered with a table cloth over it and a plant sitting on it until my mother passed. Basically we just never saw it so out of sight out of mind. It's in near perfect shape, just needs a belt. It even has a key that locks the machine cover and all the drawers. I have never seen a key for one before

Karen, that is beautiful. Glad you are keeping it in the family.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, storm warning for today, snow, heavy rain, winds moving in later tonight..
Only place i have to be is local Pearce to get my scrips so will go at 9 then in till Friday when grocery day. Flood time worry is upon me.

Omg Karen, isn’t that a precious gift to get, a hand me down through generations. Nice that it went to someone who truly appreciates its sentimental value. and still can make mega quilts fir future generations.

Dianne, how long will it take for your surgery? Are you expecting same weather?
Another 3-4 weeks and the TH can get gorgeous walking days ..Dianne i am up to where Sadie has been sent England and Marie being given drugs and at her dads country home, i am disappointed in the book, author had made it sound like such a good read, oh will, will keep reading

I bought a puff with 75 cardboard o out embroidery floss on, ran out, think by the looks of it I will need another 2 packages, now that i am almost organized it’s time to start embroidering

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning.
Be careful driving Betty.
I am getting ready to go to our weekly quilt gathering at the church.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

It is so wonderful to be able to pass on something that a member of the family WANTS. I can't think of anything I have, other than my wedding rings, that anyone wants. My car?? LOL, but that is such a temporary thing.

Lots to do today, I leave tomorrow for 5 days. Grandson will take care of Stanley for me. I am bringing my smaller sewing machine & a project with me, as well as the laptop to continue studying up on EQ.

Today is the day for "Show and Tell" at the BOM. We were all encouraged to make up at least one set of the 4 sets to show off. If I did NOT have any made, I'd still want to go, to see all the blocks made up, whether in a quilt or not. Not sure how many will show up. I know of several that are not, oh well.

Verona, ON

Yep Betty I am in for the same weather. Thurs looks to be the most dangerous day. I'll not bother going out until Friday. I checked and I have enough meds except for 1 to get me through and that is just a pain killer. If the pain gets too bad I'll have a shot of rye. That should set me on my heels.

Betty I set the book aside but I will go back to it. I fell into the Karin Slaughter rabbit hole. Wow her books are a good read.

We've walked. I've taken the bags of garbage up the lane to the township road and vacuumed the upstairs. Think now I will set a bit then wash the floors. The dirt and dust coming in from the TH's enclosure is overwhelming. I sweep or vacuum then wash the floors upstairs at least once a day often twice. Once half load is off I'll get a dump truck load of pea gravel. I'll have to spread it by hand but will do it over several days. Maybe I can find someone with a bobcat to spread it.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Safe travels Pat.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, can dump trucks not lift their tailgate by inches and ride out gently spreading the gravel..am so sure i had that don’t at the farm. Yes, still nice here today but as you say, tomorrow isn’t going to be nice..the wind is picking up..wanted to go to Barrie but guess it won’t be til Saturday.

Have fun Lindakay at your gathering..

Nice to see Pat what fabrics sewers use and how each block, same pattern turn out so different..take photo’s if you can..drive safe..from the sounds of what you are taking with you, you will not be bored.

Hate running out of meds, Dr.Prescribed a med that I picked up today..when you read about the med info it almost makes one not want to take it..pharmacy said start with 1 a day then 2 after 7 days..caused loss of balance, hallucinations, sweats, nightmares etc. Not so sure i just want to deal with pain and not take them

Was working from project to project and was enjoying the day, came up and sat, drats, likely won’t go back to work on projects

Enjoy your trip Pat.
Betty, I love those cats. Can you tell me where you got them, and what they are called?
Praying for better weather for you all up north.
Betty, what new meds are you taking?

Victoria Harbour, ON

They were a design from Lunch Box Quilts

New meds

Auro duloxetine 30mg twice a day along with my 3-4 Tylenol 3 and other meds for fibromyalgia… drug city

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Be careful driving, taking those meds till you know what the do to you.

Thanks for the name of the cats.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, 0 with feel like -4
Karen enjoy your time with family, just don’t overdo or you will come back home feeling unwell and having to start exercising .

Between rain and snow melting I’ve a lake in the back and starting in the front, yep, pumps are working 0/T. Totally expected.. how about you Dianne, think you are on upper ground right?

Pat, I’ve been up since 4 full of energy, haven’t taken the new me, thought I’d drive to Barrie but who know how long before the freezing rain comes so I will stay home, always another day… worked a few hour on June’’s quilt..she is tired of it and wants it quilted. Backing is in the washer, once dried I’ll put it on the frame, been so long I’m hoping i remember machine settings..guess i will start with oiling.

Time for oatmeal, need something on my tummy to take new pill

As i am typing can feel eyes getting heavier lol

Verona, ON

Pouring rain and it looks like the same until it turns to snow later today. It has been raining all night. The TH will have to be happy playing in their enclosure. Their enclosure is huge so I can make up games to keep them active. They are a bit of a wuss though and hate rain... now snow is another story.

Oh Betty I have been thinking about you all night. I bet you didn't get much sleep. You are right Betty I am high up plus it is bedrock. I insisted we have a sump pump put in even though DH and the builder said I was crazy. They weren't isolated in the farm house when it flooded one April. DH was nice and cozy at a show and beautiful hotel room in Ottawa. The sump pump had been disconnected. It was a dirt basement and the water was up to the second stair. I was so sore and tired of baling that I stood in the water and reconnected the sump pump. At that point if I got electrocuted I didn't really care.

The lane is treacherous with water pooling over the ice. I don't need to get out until Sat. Plus if I am concerned Kieran can bring me some kibble from Foodland to tide me over until I can get out safely. He will be working at Foodland. He gets more hours than any of the other teens because he is such a good worker.

Stay safe everyone. Please do something to treat yourself today as you deserve it. I have very fancy dark chocolate treat hidden away.

Victoria Harbour, ON

We have same Dianne..light snow has started with a tag of ice pellets..think it’s best we both stay in til Saturday..nothing i need except fabric to finish kitties but that can wait.
Love those times when one canes say “i told you so” nothing like a flood to keep you down.

Good for Kieran, pays to be a good worker and handy for you on days like this.

What kind of games do you prepare for Th?

Susan, how are things going your way?

My boys are 9n the plane to Newfoundland, not sure if it was 6-8 going with Greg.. this mommy always worriesg

Victoria Harbour, ON

Boys arrived safely, trailer full of sleds…
Having moose stew before setting of time their holiday location.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Starting to wane off, getting up at 4am I’ve put in a full day..the day was the best I’ve had since, well I can’t remember..can’t say it’s the new meds because i just got my injections, we will have to see next month when vaccines start to wear off but for today I’d give me a 95% and I’ve kept busy downstairs..

Did 2 pillows, monogram pillow for Joe KING and Marie’s birthday is Sunday so a WOODMAN pillow for her.

Got as much touch up done on June’s quilt, on the frame and about 10” quilted
NOT going to push it so calling it a day..got to do something though while sitting, what will it be… hmmm maybe I should relax like Ziggy!

Maybe time for hot chocolate and fresh baked coo kits from Marie and Ted..not a wonder I’m putting some of that 20lbs back on.

Dianne did you get the storm yet..wind is up, so dark out there..hoping that it misses us

Beautiful quilt Betty. Lots of work, putting in all that detail.
Please be careful if you have to go out in your weather.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Storming out there, sooo thankful for my Joe, can’t imagine shovelling this winter.

Actually i find quilting something so appliqué.’d much easier, i outline outer and inner of design. So you don’t have to worry about being continuous.. been forever since I’ve had one on the frame..

My craft room is a mess, i am working on kitty quilt, Grayson’s play car mat, the pillows, I’m thankful i can pull the door closed and nobody any the user if they visit.. that being said, anyone who visits always wants to see what is going on in the craft room 😜

Dianne is the storm in your neck of the woods

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, -15 feel like -23 so a cold one for sure..

Both Jules and Joe have been here, in fact Joe is cleaning my car, think the roads look clear, so off I go to Barrie, just. Need 3 fabrics to border the kitty blocks..i possibly could get it done this weekend if I i have the materials.

Need a gift for Marie for her birthday Sunday

Sun looks as though it wants to come out and shine so off i go
