Betty, have no idea where Sumner is but enjoy your trip and drive safe.

Linda, I broke my back abut 5 years ago when I got hit in the greenbelt by a teenager on a bike. He was going very fast and planned on going around me but there were little children on the left of me and palm trees on the right. No where for him to go. It was an accident. And I am so blessed that it was fixed by a wonderful brilliant doctor. I think the success came from it being in my lower back. But I am also a very strong willed woman, and so are you Betty. We are half cup full, not half cup empty type of people. Everyone on this thread falls under that description.

Linda, our weather here was beautiful. My housekeeper was here today and I spent about 4 hours in my front landscape and had a blast. I did a lot of clean-up. Tomorrow I am going to spread some light soil, with a mild dose of fertilizer because our temps are going to be in the 70s later in the week.

Karen, are you walking with a walker. I have one I use in the house and if I need to walk the greenbelt with the landscapers. It helps me because if I get tired I can immediately sit down. I have one that has large wheels and I use it in my landscaping.

A neighbor just dropped by, I will try to return.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Sharon, I don't need a walker now. I do have one from when I had my by-pass should I ever need it. When we mall walk I carry and use my cane. I like the security of having a prop with me. In the stores, I'm the one who pushes the cart as it helps me too.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon all, -2:with light snow from time to time..

Sharon not I going to Sumner but wish it was I, so tired of not being able to travel..
Ahhh I do remember now Sharon about the accident, so glad you are still able to play 8n your gardens.how right you are, we sure do push ourselves to the limit, we don’t give up that is for sure, maybe some time we overdo though..70 and playing in the gardens, what I wouldn’t give.

Karen, must get myself a cane, although i don’t know what it would take for me to use it..I have to be pretty bad to use the chair lift..gotta wonder what is wrong with my brain.

Have to say it’s a lot quieter on fb for me, sil Charlene and girlfriend Joanne were posting every hour long posts about pro trucker event being held in Ottawa..each to their own, but so many anti government groups have joined in from here and USA, the conspiracy theory, Covid just the flu..well I’ve lost 6 I know, ask them if it’s a conspiracy so rather than say what I’d like to say just took them off my Facebook, right or wrong, i don’t need to be agitated and upset, life is to short for that..i have obeyed the rules to date, not easy when you live alone to go anti medical rules now…
Big sigh..no need to comment on that, my opinion only and doing what is right for me,

Had a talk with Ziggy that we would not be getting up at 5:30 this morning but he must not have his hearing aids in..grrr

By 9 a.m. i had done my daily task..clean cupboard next to stove..didn’t really need it but i washed everything down..got garbage bins to roadside and went to Foodland as Sharon wanted a stuffed turkey roll..

Not getting a lot on the kitty quilt but did do another 2 blocks then couch for me..have Dr, Ho on my shoulders, yikes big time, need new pads, left shoulder pad was shocking the heck out of my shoulder, off it came..one more large pad then must make an order to DR. HO

Sitting on the heating pad..going to give myself til 1:00 then up and at it I go, next break going to use the food unit for 40 minutes..am sure the cold has a lot to do with my hurting as well. Must say,I’ve noticed these patches that send electrical vibes is doing its think on right hand side, can feel them go into spasm BUT on left, don’t feel anything but a little tingle.

Would be a good time to do some petit point stitching but need some embroidery thread..for those of you who do cross stitch, can you jump all over the place or must it be a row at a time?

Hope all is well in your neck of the woods and that you have something to keep you busy..must say it’s awful lonely and it’s starting to get to me..not a life!

Karen, I am right there with you, pushing that cart. It does help. The only bad experience I had with the swaps was when we did the round robin & one participant kept all the work that was done. . I offered to send a check to have them all mailed to me & I would do her round & mail them on. At one point she acknowledged she had the centers but then went MIA and never communicated again. It was very sad & frustrating.
Sharon, I agree. This group is a half-full kind of women. That said, we all have need of a good vent occasionally and that certainly is encouraged here, a safe and nonjudgmental place.
Having a deadline to finish the quilt tops has been a help. We are all scheduled to get together on 2/16. The organizer requested each of us to come with at least ONE of our 4 quilt tops done (even if not quilted yet, at least the flimsy done). There were about 30 + women in groups of 4 each. I am looking forward to seeing all the women's quilts and getting ideas from their work.
Linda, are things calmer in your town now? Are you still working at the shop at all?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Our town still has thousands of illegal coming over daily. They are now trying to keep it quilt. They are not sending many back. They are still given money for a plane or bus ticket for them to get to thier destination. Pretty sad.

Victoria Harbour, ON

All good experiences for me Pat, so miss these swaps, Found I was more committed in getting these blocks put together in into a quilt by far sooner than I would have. How exciting to go and see everybody’s work, that was quite a group. Will you have yours quoted do you think?

Linda Kay, heart goes out to you living in such a region, must be so overwhelming for you all. What do you consider moving after Todd retires? Imagine if it’s not one problem it would be another, the whole world seems to be in chaos

Pat, I do remember the round robin going south. I didn't get in on that one thank goodness.

Betty When I bought my cane, I had no need for one. I just happened across it one day and it was cool looking. I get comments on it all the time so it's kind of fun to carry. So find yourself a cool fun one and use it like an accessory. Always better to have one than to fall. In fact I had two cool ones but I gave one away to someone who really liked it.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That is an idea Karen, never thought about a cane being anything but the traditional..guess a health store is where one would look.

Just climbed into bed, about an hour later than usual so that is ok maybe 6:30 tomorrow..

Yikes, i like sleeping at edge of bed, lately Ziggy wants to lay there so i have to move to middle of the bed, if i had a hubby am sure I’d say go use other side I’m comfy, but a furry i move over..lol

Dianne meant to tell you the other day when i was coming home from shopping there was a conversation with a Canadian book writer, she wrote “when we lost our heads” by Heather O’Neill..
must go to local library and see if they can get it in, if not i will have to order from Barrie…

I found one of my cool canes at a roadside veggie stand and the other at a hospital gift shop. I've seen them at craft shows too. I only paid $10. for each of mine but it was many years ago.

No, we are stuck here. Not too many places much better. Like you said, always something.

Pat, not, I am not at the quilt shop anymore.
I had my next project for a customer on a shelf, ready to go. When I went to the shop, the fabric had been moved. I asked the old owners grandson what he did with the fabric. He said he didn't move, besides that, the fabric was out of place, and wasn't paid for. He knew that is where we kept our projects, and the fabric was paid for. So the old owner and I looked for about an hour, and couldn't find it anywhere. I told her I can't make the quilt, if I don't have the fabric. Her grandson flew off the handle, told me if I don't like it, I can go **** myself.
So I walked out and haven't been back.

Betty, those cookies look so good.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I’ll be on the lookout Karen..maybe on market place someone might have some they carved

Omg Lindakay, isn’t that the way to run a business, he won’t be in business very long if that is his attitude, now what will happen about the quilt? Which quilt are you working on now? My kitty throw isn’t the type of quilt that excites me, had I not cut all the blocks before Christmas I would change to a different project..suppose to be cartoon like, just not my thing..scrap user though. Todayidid the fish and Felix

Had a big bowl of salad for lunch, wasn’t hungry when i got comfy in bed, now I’m hungry for peanut butter and jam but hate to tell ziggy he has to move.

Those cats are cute. Is it for someone? Maybe a cute baby quilt?
I don't know what's going to happen about the customers quilt. It's out of my hands.

I am working on another hexagon quilt. This one is made with a pretty hummingbird panel in the middle. Almost done putting the top together.

Victoria Harbour, ON

It’s a belated gift for Darlene, she went to Florida in November so i got everything else done, so i have till April to get it done..she is a cat lover.not pushing it, doing a couple bocks a day.

Looking forward to seeing your project

Good morning. I have been up for hours so I will probably have a nap later.

My cane is very unique. It is a beaver chew. A retired OPP collected wood as they travelled across Canada. He would sand them down then stain it. His wife had MS so he knew what needed to be done for her and just expanded his line.

LK I too would walk out. If that is how the new owner presents himself that business will not around for long. Geesh !!

I just want to pass something on about this trucker convoy we have here in Ontario. It has nothing about their causes. A friend volunteered for 2 days at a way station where the truckers could stop and rest, sleep, whatever. Anyway after the 2 days and everyone was gone the volunteers went to clean up the area. Over 100 trucks were there at a time. Only 1 piece of trash was picked up and that was a piece of paper.

Kai is snoring in my ear. Glad he can sleep.

Morning, -8 with a feel like -12, missed the freezing rain, how about you Sharon? We will have snow all day today but I don’t think more than an inch or so..bet my plow guy and Joe are resting up for the last 1/2 of the winter..Ziffy has been out twice, not for long but think he is getting Spring fever.

Well all of you using canes have given me the push to start looking for a cane, all of yours something one would want to carry, needed or not.

Dianne, know you are an avid reader, have you heard of Heather O’Neill?

Pat and June were to come this morning, June called last night, not up to it so not sure if Pat will come..Sharon is getting her hair cut at 11 and will drop in for a few minutes and that my friends is what today will bring..

Hoping to do this kitty and 2. “MEOWS”, I’d be happy if i got that much done..my day chore was the microwave..done!

Beautiful cat block Betty.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ahead of the game Lindakay, on my 2nd MEOW block, did Tootsie and finished St Patrick’s day pillow, didn’t have ribbon but found some mini green ric rac to make bow..turned out ok.

Lindakay, Pat didn’t come today but was telling me when she called that the wonderful fabric shop in Orillia, Threads and Things has been sold..so hope it’s a better experience for us than what you have gone through

Thought while taking a break I would take out 2 neck warmers and hand sew Hyde on them, takes and hour each so something to do rather than just lay on the couch but I will have to put that off for awhile, my trusted furry has decided that the wool is a nice comfy pillow
Watching City Line with so many ideas to recycle fabric..main show will be tomorrow so I will have to put that on my schedule.

Took out a roast from freezer that I cooked and ate less than 1/2 so now I’m making a lemon meringue pie to go with it....

feeling better today, doesn’t it show.

Betty I have Heather McNeil's new book loaded on my Kindle.

Had a scammer try to take me for $799.99 saying their was a charge going on my MC. I hung up when he started to ask questions that were none of his business. I called MC and they said there was no charge but since I called if it does show up they will decline it. Apparently I ordered an Apple phone.

Toying with taking a nap I am so tired but am worried it will stop me from falling asleep tonight. I'll tough it out and take a sleeping pill tonight.

Victoria Harbour, ON

They do try don’t they in hopes they find someone who will take the bait..was cra, then bank, someone must stay up all night thinking of scams.

Is the book called “when we lost our heads”. If I could remember my app password I would see if i can order it on my iPad..good luck with trying to remember password.

Tatters and veggies cooking, roast warming in oven..got the rolls and pie done without burning anything lol

Want to go to Midland later, if i take a nap now along with you I’ll never go.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

That is a cat pattern I have been debating over but other than making it for myself, or maybe a lap quilt to donate to the pet shelter (for their store), I can't think of why I "need it" and I have been trying to cut back on spending. My fabric stash is ridiculous, and I am concentrating on using it up.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wish you lived closer, maybe your supper is better..what we having?

Want to eat before I go to town otherwise I know I’ll stop at McDonald’s and have a Big Mac.

Has anyone on here have that hair removal unit for chin..Marie is always talking about it, I’d like to buy her one for all she does fir me

That's the book Betty. I ordered it from Amazon to load on my Kindle. I think I might start it this afternoon. My bones and joints are talking to me so after I get some blocks of wood in I'll start it.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ohhh going to try my password

Victoria Harbour, ON

I haven’t read a book in forever Dianne..found my password, ordered my book, ready to read..

Going into Midland then once i am cozy in bed I will read, not Like i use to..read non stop til book is read. Put it on my iPad, Jeff filled my Sony with books and i just couldn’t get into it not being actual book but with my having to sit more who knows just might start reading

Will be interesting to see if we both enjoy, know i really enjoyed author explaining the book while on talk show Sunday

Victoria Harbour, ON

Back from town, big shopping spree, mouse poison and new tense pads for Dr.Ho and salve fir the sire I have under my denture plate…life is so darn sad.

Going downstairs and shutting machines and lights off, putting supper away, getting a piece of lemon meringue pie, heading to bed in hopes i enjoy my new read.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, I love the cat and pillow.
Ziggy looks comy too.
Not for sure what hair removal thing you are talking about. When I get a stray hair, I use tweezers.
That pie looks delicious.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I had lunch down the street that a friends lives and another friend joined us. The friend that joined us belongs to a country club and pays dues very month for food an they do not eat all they pay for. So she stops off and picks up lunch. We order ahead from the menu. They are selling the majority of their properties and business and moving to Utah. They have purchased a smaller home to stay in when they come back to town.

My daughter is in St Louis to visit new grandson and granddaughter and their parents.
She will be coming back Sunday with Daughter and babies in tow. They will be here for two weeks and then they head back for another week visit and the Tracy will come home home alone. Babies father is up to his ears studying radiology so will appreciate the time to sleep when he is home, which is only about 6 hours a night.

Our weather is still beautiful. Suppose to cool down later next week. This is the time of year you get ready to plant your tomatoes but in your heart you know it is too early.

Betty, your temps are still too low for me.

Verona, ON

Betty just a word of warning about that book ...... it starts off very dark. It is not a book that I could read in 1 sitting but that being said is it is interesting.

Sharon when 1 of my nephews went on his mission he was sent to either Idaho or Oregon. It was so long ago I can't remember. David is in his 60's now. While there he had a terrible bicycle accident and to quote him "his head broke open like a melon." He had a Masters from BYU, another from Harvard and when he went to University of Toronto he could not start his PHD until he completed a Masters from them. Yep he is a professional student.

Pie looks delicious Betty.

Sweet dreams everyone.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like a fun day with your friend's Sharon.

Good night everyone.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good afternoon everyone.
Looks like everyone is busy today.
Betty, are you doing ok?

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

yeah, so much for a quiet planned day. My sister Marie called, she was at HER MD appt and the specialist called asking her to get her husband in for lab work ASAP. , Marie had another MD appointment for this afternoon already booked.
I drove out and took Phil to the lab, she got done in time to take Phil home before her next appointment. There comes a certain time in life it seems the only "social life" we have is taking ourselves or others to medical appointments!

I was scheduled to have lunch with some of Ben's family today. There is a Pilipino restaurant they like. Ben's SIL is Pilipino and Native American. They were coming to Tri-Cities to take care of other business and we met for lunch. They live almost 2 hours away. We had a nice visit.

It is 69 degrees OUT!!! HOLY COW! I have few bulbs barely peeking out.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Seems like it is always an appointment for something.
Glad to hear you got together for a nice lunch.
About the same temp here today.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Still here, in bed
Did go to Barrie with Sharon this afternoon re my iPad, she came for company to make sure I’d be ok to drive, was..now I have 2 iPads, one for upstairs and one downstairs
Feels like i have 600lbs on my shoulders , tomorrow is a new day

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear you are in so much pain.
Praying you get some relief soon.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Doctor moved my injections from thursday to tomorrow morning in his office
