Terrible....We heard an Amber Alert yesterday morning. Turned out to be a 2 day old baby. Later we heard mother was found shot to death. Baby is believed to be also dead. Was taken by father. It is believed he threw baby into the river. So very sad. I keep waiting to hear the SOB got caught.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? A blessing room for friends of old to Chat and a group that ALWAYS welcomes newcomers..come sit a spell!
I used to buy that ice melt spray when I worked in crisis. One winter there was NONE to be found. Ben & I drove to Seattle to see one of his daughters and stopped at a little mountain town Auto Zone & bought a whole case of it for Christmas presents for co-workers.
The baby quilt is adorable.
Headed to Prosser for 3 days, I have my phone & laptop with me. My EQ is on my laptop so I want to do more practice lessons on it.
Omg Karen that is terrible, what ever possesses a person, maybe he felt they would be better off..but what a good home the child could have had…hope they caught him..i had a 3rd cousin whose husband shot the kids and her a week before Christmas..her sister fought for him, said no way he could of done it..as it happens he is out of prison, remarried with children.know tell me what kind of person would marry such a person??
Will be nice for you to get away Pat, drive safe and enjoy your time away.
My doctor’s call was 1:40pm, i will give him benefit of the doubt and wait till 3 then start calling his office. Big sigh
I am working on hunters star quilt. Will be the only one I do. Too many small pieces.
Yes, our heaters are all on. 2:06, and our Temps are now 35. Hot chocolate is warming up.
Karen, that is so terrible. Praying he is caught soon.
Thought I had posted
Doctor called..MRI update
Good news is i know something is wrong, bad news is it would be high risk surgery
Severe spinal stenosis, mentioned spinal cord and vertebrae, guess like a pinched nerve but several places down my spine
numbness in hand , pain in foot, neck pain and buttox pain all stemming from this..in the condition the mri shows he said it would be a high risk surgery a nd wouldn’t suggest i do,but will make an appointment if I want to or at some point I decide I’ve had enough dealing with pain.
Nothing else can be done except to know my body, do what I can and rest when I can’t..get extra injections and take 4-5 Tylenol 3’s, cbd oil until it no longer works then if i still do not want the surgery he will up to stronger meds
Then i went on the tell him about being pretty well bed or couch ridden these past 2 weeks..i gave him my symptoms, the pain in every bone of my body, he said it was my fibromyalgia acting up and normally a bad bought lasts 2 days -4weeks then goes but does come back when irritated…
Betty - I found you lol
I'm joining the "gawd, I'm SO busy" club lol Think I'll fit in just fine here! Heading to the Arena, representing the Wellness Centre at the AG Society's AGM. Have a cheque to pay the rent on the room we use, and give a small report on what we do at Wellness.
Cya later!
Betty, if it were me, I would seriously think about having surgery. Taking pain pills the rest of your life isn't fun. All your doing is taking more or stronger pills to try and cover the pain.
That's my 2 cents.
Susan, sounds like you are off and running too. Take care.
Susan, sounds like you are busy and enjoying every minute of it,
Lindakay, when i see him on the 16 i will ask fora referral to at least speak with a surgeon . The thought of putting metal rods and fusing isn’t appealing but i will hear what another gas to say..waiting time to see a surgeon likely takes a long time .know based on mri he wouldn’t do it..but on really good side i have answers
Looks like someone isn't sleeping.
Yes, at least talk to the surgeon.
Was having trouble, pain wakes me up..l
Yes, will get appointment with specialist, long wait I am sure, now just have to grin and bare it which I have been doing.
Sharon called at 7:30, i slept in wouldn’t you know so jumped out of bed, got dressed and she was in driveway…. Breakfast wasn’t great, only
1 waitress, by the time we got our meal it was cold..she didn’t charge is for coffee
Sad to hear about breakfast. I have been in the same situation, and when I get cold food, I ask to remake mine. They always do with no complaints.
Oh well, if we ever go back just maybe they will have more staff..Greg told us of another place we should try, maybe next week
In my cleaning cupboard (hate to show you what it looked liked) i found 2 books with tips, 1991, some things you would do or use so i put them 8n washroom, a,ways someone who comes and sits fir awhile lol
Talk about bored, did my to do and now that i found the almost 3 decade petit point i got out embroidery floss and am winding it on cardboard..used all that I had..knew i had a craft bag somewhere with plastic pockets i never used so will use that..Lordy what a mess but it’s keeping me occupied, will soon be bed
Amazing what we find when cleaning out.
Love the bin for your threads.
How is your son's frost bit chin and neck?
Morning, -18 with a -24 feel like so cold day in my neighbourhood, no snow nut it’s a coming.
Are you sooo using the heaters Lindakay or is it warming up?
It Kyle that has frost bite, no it is still massive red, once you have frost baptize it stays, minute he is in cold it will bother him.
Just making my coffee and will bring it in the bedroom , my to do is my closet..not that bad as i just did it before Christmas.. not sure anything in it to purge, I’ll see, top shelf could be wiped down so not a long job.
2 of the 3 boys will com this morning then if I’m ambitious i may go to town for groceries and maybe go to staples to enlarge my petit point graph..eyes certainly aren’t as good as the where when i bought the kit.
Other than that nothing very exciting.
How about you all..
Meant to add a feel good story after a tragedy.
A n accident occurred 4 weeks ago near Hwy400/Hwy 12 in which a man lost his life…during the arrival of emergency services his dog Cassie ran away, in Sharon’ community he has been seen, so many in search but to not avail..at 3 or 4 a.m. yesterday he was trapped and although loss so much weight he is doing ok..there will be bills so a go fund me fund has been set up to cover his needs.
I can imagine just how grateful the family p is, after 4 weeks they had all but give up but Sharon’s neighbours reported seeing her make visits to the area where she lost her master but would runaway when approach..was also hard to Seeger when she would hide as she was white.. with the snow storms and deep freeze we have had these past 4 weeks , how sp Cassie survived is a wonder and better still a miracle
I didn't know that about frost bite.
That is a beautiful story, to hear the dog was found and returned home.
Yes, heaters still running here. Problem another 3 to 4 days. Then we start our spring.
One of my cousins got frost bite in his teens delivering newspapers. Ever after, when his hands were the least bit cold they would turn white.
Yes Karen, you are always bothered with it had an 7ncle who lost toes due to frostbite
Very cold here today, storm is heading this way later today spans will be for a few days so best i get a move on and go to town
Hi lades. It's been a "felt feet" day. Feb 19th is the Wellness AGM, and our chair asked me to make felt feet, for the cement floor, leading into the library. I free-hand drew feet on cardboard and glued it to felt, in pairs. Tues I'll get the ladies to cut on the lines of the feet to make 6 pairs of feet. I'm not sure how to temporarily attach the cardboard to the cement floor......... Any Ideas? With people walking on them, they have to be sturdily attached, but not leave a mess when they're taken off.
I made a huge cheque, because we're making a donation to the Silver Willow Senior Centre, and now I have to make some foot shaped name tags. Our chair wanted me to stick paper name tags onto felt feet, but that wouldn't stay. I'll come up with something before then, I'm sure.
Not for sure what glue to use. Maybe rubber glue/contact cement?
What about temporary spray glue like for quilts?? I don't know how difficult it would be if you used colored contact paper instead.
Our poor pets when we pass away, especially when it's a traumatic death. The poor dogs are so confused and scared. I am glad he is safely caught and can be cared for.
I just got back this afternoon, I was reading to catch up and saw what you posted Karen, how very sad.
Ben was such a gentle kind soul; it will be 2 years since his passing in just 3 days. it was his birthday 3 days ago. I am grateful that are Marie & I got a way for a few days. I will have to take pictures and post my quilt progress when I have time to hang it up on the preview wall.
Morning -8 but snow moving in this afternoon..
Got my daily chores done, enjoying a coffee then downstairs to play,
I had the chard fir the embroidery piece enlarged to make it easier to see, a colour chard so hoping what embroidery thread i don’t have Walmart will..$1 a skein, nfont think I’ve paid that for my other skeins.
Drats, Ziggy kept meowing to get me up a five, just noticed as i type my eyes are Getting heavy, almost nodded off,,maybe a nap before going downstairs lol
What are you all up to

I really hope to get the additional 3 pieced blocks made & the final row of the quilt done, borders added, quess we will see. I am really hurting today, barely moving.
Could be the anniversaries Pat getting you down, when I get a bit off sometimes i think what anniversary is coming up.
Tomorrow is another day Pat, if you try to do it when you are not well likely you will have to remake them due to mistakes.
Best i not get too comfy on the couch or here i will stay until bedtime
Sounds like you enjoyed your trip Pat. Can't wait to see your quilt.
Not doing much today, other that working on valentine gnomes. I am making one for each of our quilting group. Need to find 1 inch wooden balls for the noses, and seems like they are on the list of everything else not available. Trying to figure out plan B.
If you can’t find wooden balls you rake an old nylon, cut a little square p, fill it with some batting , twist, , tie, cut off excess and use glue gun.. i actually like them better than wooden balls
Betty - what a wonderful idea! I don't think I have any nylon, but will look.
Linda - this is supposed to be temporary, so contact cement wouldn't be a good choice. On cement it would be permanent.
Only thing I could think of was the 2 way tape but you might have to use a scrubber when taking off
I am sure it could be minimal and taped with wide tape on top
Didn’t do a lot but found enough scraps to go around the St Patty pillow and did one cartoon kitty for Darlene’s quilt.
Tomorrow I will finish the 2 pillows
Don’t want to overwork right?
Yes, I am alive. Got the grandson off on his church mission. We had a lot of family events. We got a hard freeze for about 2 or 3 nights. Made a total mess in the front landscape. Didn't touch much in the back. Go figure.
Emma, Peanut and I are still missing Cecil everyday. I was looking at new puppies but decided Emma and I are just fine. She is getting better every day. Has more kick in her step. She lost a pound but that won't hurt her. Peanut, the cat, was Cecil's best buddy. She is getting better also. I do not think Boots, the other cat, has a cue, one way or the other.
I have a bedroom, down stairs, we call mother's room. When we designed our home, we made sure we had room for my Mom, in case we needed it. The closet in that room was crammed with many treasures, photos and many many blankets. Well everything is out of the closet and spread around the room. Going through many boxes of photos. That is totally time consuming.
Betty, I read your report on your pain. A neurosurgeon would be who should operate on you. They can do such wonderful things these days. I feel so blessed because hen I broke my back, it was fixed by a neurosurgeon, fused and 2 metal rods and 8 screws. I have been so blessed with no pain and it has been close to 5 years.
Susan, you are one busy person. Ask Google how to temporarily affix them to concrete. Google knows everything. All the stores here have removed their spacing footprints.
Karen, how is it going with your walks.
Betty, I love your St Patrick piece. So bright and cheerful and so cleaver.
Betty, I see your temperatures everyday on my i phone and am amazed at how low your temperatures have been. We will be in the 70s next week. and, then with a blink of an eye, it will be 100.
Hugs to you all. I am so behind, I will try to keep up. Sharon
Sharon, you will be busy for awhile, sorting through all those boxes, and oing down memory lane.
I didn't know you broke your back. That must have been very painful. Glad the surgery went well for you.
Susan, hope you ind something for your feet.
Sharon, our walks are going well. I am impatient and want them to make an instant improvement. I still have to go slow and sometimes take a rest but I really hate to miss one.
Glad to hear you are still walking Karen. Just take it easy.
Betty, that for the advice on the pantyhose for noses. I had some knee highs here. Cut them in squares, then ran stitches around the edges, like making fabric yo yo. Put a bit of stuffing in the center, and pulled the tread tight. Very easy yo do.
Well.... they say there is more than one way to skin a cat!! (Catfish, that is, not a puddy tat). The nylon sounds like a GREAT plan for a substitute nose!!!
I got sidetracked with a LONG phone call from oldest son. Sounds like I will be making a drive up to Sumner ASAP.
I got my fabric cut & organized but not sewn yet. I may yet, it's only 10.00 and I try to stay up until midnight to increase my chances of getting to sleep.
Morning, -2 here so warming up..they called for snow today so we will see.i am sure the snow truck are happy to get a great, tough job Snowplowing, long hours and every one needing it done right away.
Been up since 5:30, now 7:30 and I’ve not done much.
Wonderful you had time to visit with al the family Sharon, i also didn’t know you broke your back, had to be close to my coming to your place?? Yes, I’ll see specialist to hear what he suggests, will be a long time before an appointment opens up…
I agree, when going through photo’ you go down memory lane and takes forever to go through them. Guess Sharon more shrubs in back that frost has to contend with thus less damage, will you be able to salvage
Like human i am sure our furry friends miss and mourne one of their own as well..hard going with a puppy but if you have mega energy then maybe one will come up.Susan, come up with a solution Re feet.. how about making out of cardboard a stencil of foot, with chalk board eraser Pat the feet design cut out with eraser once you’ve rubbed chalk on it…that or test light spray of shaving cream you buy at $$ store, test it and see how it washes off …a long shot i know
Glad Lindakay the nylons worked, same procedure i use..u buy a few knee high’s in different shades so i can match my project better..i often flatten a bit so they look more realistic.
Pat how f arm is sumner? Hope the trip isn’t because of bad news..
Anxious to see your blocks
Karen they truly must be helping as you are missing them when you can’t go out..you are doing the right way, know you want to be further in the routine but that is not always better.
Sumner is almost 4 hours away, it is near Seattle (which is western, northern part of state, where is rains, is GREEN). I live in southeastern part of the state where it is desert. There is a brutal mountain pass between us that can be a challenge, or not. It varies widely and sometimes is CLOSED!!
I was planning on a visit in February anyhow, this way I can assist with some transportation issues (they need to get the car in for repair) Dana has asked for some help with mediation.
I did get the blocks done last night & then sewn to the quilt top. I still need to get the borders on. It took me until midnight, then I had to read a chapter or two to wind down for sleep.
There is a funeral luncheon to help with this afternoon. I can't really help in the serving, set up or clean up. I can't stand that long without pain, so I try to always contribute to making food.
Then there is grandson's homework to oversee. When I am out of town I have him call to report in on his status etc. I check with him to see that he has SUBMITTED it, with his ADD he will sometimes do it and forget to hit the submit button! It's better if I am there, but sometimes this is all I can do. Just having the routine on the days I am there helps to carry over for when I am not.
I still hope to get the borders on today. The body of the quilt is about 60 inches square, I will add a 2 inch golden borden and then 5 inches of the word print fabric and bind & back with the batik. The part of the quilt that looks very yellow is actually a rich pumpkin color. I made the pieced blocks and combined it into the quilt, another BOM member did the embroidery as part of our exchange. The background fabric of the embroidery & pieced blocks is "Shadow Play Indigo". It's kind of a pain. NOT black and then isn't blue enough to read as blue. I would not choose that fabric to work with given a choice.

Lordy I could not keep up with you Pat, so much responsibility..you are trying to be everyone’s a ALL, sure hope somebody is looking after you..not a wonder your brain won’t shut down.
i love your quilt, once quilted it will be a work of art. Are the larger embroidered blocks done in 4 triangles then sewn together? What did you have to do in exchange, make her blocks lol
I shutter to think when you say mountain pass, when we left Las Vegas to go see Liz in San Francisco there was a pass, b3cause there were fires we had to take another pass..was at night and you virtually with oncoming cars see way down, wayy wayy down…never so glad to get to hotel.
When will you be leaving, Stanley going with you?
Greg call to chat a few hours ago,, the are going to Newfoundland a week thursday snowmobiling as is Jeff. He and Mel along with some friends went to my cousin Doug’s place, he lives on an island, had a great time, told me he heard Neil, old friend who lost his wife this spring won a million dollars end of November…his 2 kids hot mega $$ for Christmas.
I’ve already had my bath, was a lazy day, embroidered 2 balls of wool for the kitty quilt..Lordy must have done more than just that but guess i didn’t.
Yep, had to make her blocks. They are part of the BOM exchange, each of the 4 of us in our group, made 4 blocks of "our block" and gave it to each of the 3. At the end of 10 months we each had 4 sets of different blocks. Those were a single block, not made of 4 quarters.
Remember the pink on white blocks I pictured? those were the ones that Marie & I were doing. Each month the block was slightly different as you can see from the heart quilt (another participant in our group made those blocks).. I still need to get it quilted. It is 62 x 76. I have not started on Marie & my blocks, I am hoping to design something cool on EQ for it.
We were very blessed in our group. EACH and every month, all of us turned our blocks in on time. Sometimes we needed help from each other, our machine was down, or our design stick was corrupted, but we made it every month. The other groups were not as responsible, some were REALLY bad. I would have hated to have been saddled with one of those!
I have always had sleep issues. I am not much of a TV watcher, but back when we lived in Boise, I would watch one episode of some series just before bed. When Ben was alive, we would watch TV together in the evening, 1 or 2 episodes of a series. I have not had TV on since he passed 2 years ago. Generally, I read before bed to wind down. Sewing and other creative outlets are too stimulating before bed.
No Stanley will not go with me. Dana's cats are VERY antisocial, and it would be miserable with Stanley locked in my bedroom. My grandson Aiden will feed him & play with him while I am gone.
Newfoundland sounds like fun!! A million dollars would certainly allow for some outrageously expensive gifts.
Pat, those blocks are beautiful. Looks like a lot of work.
Betty, praying your family has a safe trip.
I remember our swaps in this site, Pat. They all for the most part seemed to go well as far as all getting their blocks in a reasonable time.
