I agree, Susan. I have such fond memories of getting to know so many people through gardening. Then sharing our ups and downs of life.
Those driftwood mobiles are great. I will be on the lookout for some driftwood next time at the beach. Thanks for the photos of the girls Betty. Debbies Dais was very active back when I was on here all the time. I so remember Judy and Liz. Notmartha etc. Just woke up after dozing off on the couch. Now started watching a movie on Netflix called Wine Country. Looks to be be a really good chick flick.
This will give you a lchuckle. These girls are old friends. We all used to work together at the old Holiday Inn. Stevie in the middle is liviing in a retirement residence now and had asked me to order 6 pair of Vanity Fair panties for her. Purple is her fav colour. So she is quite a character ..still has a great sense of humour. She's 83. We all got together at her ground floor apt. on Aug. 10th. We do it once a year because we are all a distance away now..and the two younger ones are still working.
Cheers, all.

I got a FB notice telling me that Linda Kay & I have been FB friends for 10 YEARS! And I know that we were friends LONG before that. WOW!!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I've been working on putting together some of the blocks from the many block swaps. One of the blocks was labeled "2008"!!! I am finally making progress though! I miss the blocks swaps. So many of our friends have gone to "different site" and of course several have passed away. I miss them all.

Was gifted with $100 us joanne shopping card and another metal art piece..i is spoilt lol

Tired but will push myself, doing bedding and avoiding laying my head down, maybe that way I’ll sleep well tonight.

Had friends join us,all days always another adventure
One I could have missed, we went to cranberry marsh, in their gift shop which houses all their home made thought I’d open a cooler for goats cheese and cranberry mix, went to open the door of cooler and a big double sided sign fell and hit me on the shoulder..couldn’t be the bad one,had to be the good one grrr, talk about a bang..attendant doing wine tasting was only interested as to if she could see blood. Grrrr

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Oh, THAT had to hurt like the dickens! I am so sorry Betty. The wine attendant was less than empathic individual!

Your craft workshop looked like LOTS of fun!! Wish you lived closer, looks like my kind of fun!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh no. Sorry to hear that Betty.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - SO glad that you're back here!
Ouch on the shoulder. Clerk wasn't too bright if she thought only there being blood was a hurt - there could be other injuries! grrrr indeed!
Nice gift! I could use a $100 gift card, easily lol

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Consider what the going rate is for a craft fair/ classes....

I found my camera!! "Right where I thought I had put it!". I was certain I had stored in right ON my desk or table, next to it. I never dreamed I would forget there is a small drawer in my office organizer. It open mesh so I saw the long green fabric lanyard I had put on it. I am soooo relieved.

Worked out in the barn today for a couple of hours and FINALLY found the missing Halloween panel that I had been working on. Also the Moose panel and brown broken log cabin (I don't know what else to call it. The Log cabin is made of varying widths with some focus fabrics in some centers.

Colonoscopy is scheduled for 2.30 PM tomorrow. Clear liquids today.... I am hungry!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

So glad you all had such a fun time...well except for the sign mishap.
I really didn't accomplish anything today. I didn't sleep well last night and finally gave up trying. All day today I felt drowsy so figured no sewing for me. Did snooze a bit on the porch but feel tired now and will give it up soon.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Karen, I HATE it when I can't sleep!!! Then no truly awake the next day. I am HOPING to sleep tonight. I don't sleep well on an EMPTY tummy. I don't need or want a FULL tummy.... just NOT HUNGRY!

I have the pieced border on the Halloween wall hanging and I'm ready for the final black edge border. I am really enjoying it!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Much better night last night. DGS in TX messaged me and we chatted for a while He said he has already cleared Christmas off with his boss. Good thing, Only time I get to see him.
Will be doing some sewing for sure today. Was puzzling on how to quilt the advent calendars and dreamed the solution. Wall hangings so they don't need a lot. The other two arrived in the mail yesterday so will get them caught up to the first three. Also got the panel for the baby quilt so it's next on the list. I wonder if I'll ever get back to my own quilt?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon, Karen that is good news, Christmas will be here before you know it..imagine I’ve got the furnace on brrr...rained heavily yesterday and again this morning.

Pat, how are you feeling today, on the sleepy side after meds? Does it usually take a long time to get results back?

I did 5 loads of wash, still have my nightly on, debating if I want to stay as is or get dressed and do some shopping, also need to return slippers I bought on Monday, had them on for a few seconds and sole already letting go around toes, good way to trip.

Debby, remember ‘wish’ my saying I didn’t receive the 2 solar pumps?? They came in today so guess I can see what else they have for sale..

When I saw a lady carrying a parcel I so hoped it was the heated shoulder cap, but nope, mom” saga, I could so kick Sharon..mom dropped off Brian to do more work at Sharons seeing she was taking her dog to midland vet..Sharon had been out and pulled in next to mom, mom turned her head and wouldn’t even look at her and left..

Her dog has stones and needs surgery, think it is scheduled..anyway last night mom called Brian and told him she forgot her purse at the vets and wanted Sharon to go get it and what does Sharon do, runs the road to goget it..when someone treats you so badly you shouldn’t be so helpful, I just know I’d have said no..but then lol she would have called me to go🤪

Tired today, think it’s more the cold that wants me to make a hot chocolate, cover myself up with a quilt with Ziggy beside me.

See the kids walking up the street with their school bags laughing so they must have had a good day..

Maybe I’ll just surf the web looking for fall and Christmas ideas

Victoria Harbour, ON

Did surf the web and did buy lol

Greg dropped in for an hour, he still is having trouble hiring another “him” so started work at 4:30 and left at 3:30..while here he received 3 calls..was going home to bed..said they were 14 camping at the rodeo in North Bay, said he is getting older and needs more naps ...lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

You Mom is a stickler. I would have told her go get it yourself.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

So sad when a mom acts that way. Mine was like that, didn't care how she treated people, very selfish. Very sad when you don't even mourn your own parents.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Goodness, it's hard when our relatives are stinkers and then expect YOU to preform as if things were good. I am sure I would have Brian, "No, not unless SHE calls me to ask me nicely." When my client's are rude the caregivers agencies, THEN discover they still need their services, I insist THEY be the one to request continued service. I won't LOL.
I have recently had to remind my husband to "not be rude". That is so not like him, I heard him speaking disrespectfully about another church member because the guy had not returned his calls, or answered his email etc. I told him it was inappropriate, his reply,"I am frustrated!" I just don't think it's necessary.

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Thanks for the photos, Betty. Your friends sure can paint well. Love those birdhouses. Nice to put a name to a face. So happy your connection to this thread has been sorted out. I want to look for a few bits of driftwood now after seeing those mobiles the girls made.
Do you think your Mom has a bit of Dementia? I have heard from others that some elderly people with Dementia turn nasty.
May I ask if any of you have Venous insufficiency? About 2months ago my feet ankles and now my calves swell up very badly. That was the diagnosis I was given. I was prescribed compression socks.. but after a couple of hours, they are so painful to wear ..especially around the top band digging into my calves.
I have to ice them and keep them up. I have an appt. with a cardiologist in late Oct. Sorry to moan about this but | don't know anyone who has this problem.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

My Dad had that. It caused his blood clots, which caused him to have strokes. Please see the Dr.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I have not heard of that, like Lindakay, best you be tested..must be so painful Carole a d always more so when when is as active as you..you have driftwood in your region as well? They were easy, fun project and would make great gifts.

Karen how are you feeling? You will not overdue trying to get things done for family visit.

Pat I’m finding people are rude more than I remember, scratching my head, is it because We’ve less patience.

Aunt Muriel called me this morning, been for tests again, something bleeding in her head, she is a trooper, my god she is such a positive person, can’t believe she and mom are from same family.

Have a bunch of running around this afternoon, thought I’d make an applesauce cake for the girls in the office and drop it off, I bought by the pound dried fruit, am thinking I put too much fruit and made it too juicy, think I’ll be keeping them and eating them myself unless they thicken while they cool

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Carol, we found that special Velcrose wraps, one brand is Circaid, were very helpful and much less painful. I have NOT heard of using ice. I would think that would lessen pain but thicken and slow blood, not help with circulation. The Circaid are difficult for you put on yourself probably, unless your back is VERY limber like mine. They sure are easier for me to put on my husband than the compression socks! They seem to have really made a difference and are much more comfortable for him.
Have they put you on any special medication for it? Or just aspirin to thin your blood? Exercise is helpful but being up on your feet long periods or standing is NOT, or sitting in one place too long. There are also pumping exercises that you can do to promote blood flow. Ben also saw a specialist for a while doing special massage to help promote return blood flow.

The worst part of the colonoscopy was the VILE prep to drink and getting the IV in place. Nurse gave up and anesthetist put it in. The procedure ahead of me was canceled so they rushed me in, got it done & out! I walked in hospital at 2.30 and was out less than 2 hours feeling fine. I think I was under such a short time, they found nothing to really focus and be concerned about so I "cleared up" much faster than I would have. I didn't even feel dizzy or woozy afterwards, didn't need help with dressing etc. Gas afterwards very minimal, easy to pass and not painful. Lucky me! .

Multiple diverticula were found in the colon, some very small internal hemorrhoids were found, other than that, NO issues, again, LUCKY me.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Great news Pat..here they do not let you go home without someone picking you out, even said no to a taxi ride..is it same there??

I got my shoulder brace this afternoon, comes with a cord you can plug into a computer to provide heat, what a sight lol. Tad uncomfortable but helps the pain a bit.

I had to have someone with me for colonoscopy. I had so many and EGDs when I was doing that bleeding. However because I was over 70 for the last one and I had no issues, Dr. told me I never have to have another as they don't do after 80. YAY!!
The prep is vile. I couldn't even drink it all, I started vomiting it as soon as I had about half down. I warned the Dr but he said all was ok.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

YES, you have to have someone bring you AND stay there at hospital so they know you are not driving home.

Glad to hear you found something that helps with the shoulder pain Betty.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

That is good to hear Betty, Totally worth the bother if it helps.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - that's quite the look for you - I think it's quite fashionable, and ever so good for you for heat & circulation :)
I'm back to doing some handsewing to "fix" some banners I'd made & that were given to me from our old church for the church we now belong to. As our old church is being torn down, it was awfully nice to them to give me the banners back. They were a little worse for wear, so that's why I'm doing some applique repair.
I'm also going to make some cushions for the lawn chairs so they'll be ready for next summer. I have some pretty large wooden chairs.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Praying that device helps you Betty.
Pat, glad to hear you had good reports. I agree, that prep is nasty.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Barbara's birthday today. Miss her so much.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Miss her as well...

Have. The heat on my gizmo and Lordy it feels good..was thinking about specialist appointment, think I’ll not take drugs, nor put my arm gizmo on and let the pain be at it’s worse so she can really see where pain is?

Surfing web, trying to find fall and Xmas projects

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

When is your appointment.

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Thank you all for your info. I did see a doctor at a walk-in clinic and she diagnosed it as Veinous insufficiency. I see my General doc on Tuesday, Sept. 10. I am scheduled for an echocardiogram and to wear a heart monitor on Oct. 7th. Then see the cardiologist on Oct. 22 to discuss the results. This was all done by the wonderful woman Dr. at the walk-in clinic. Unfortunately, she is not taking any new patients.
I received a Dr. Ho circulation promoter today that I ordered a few days ago. I haven't tried it yet. I was quite busy today getting ready for my sis and her family for the weekend..

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I don't envy you Betty. The 5 days without my Naproxen in preparation for the colonoscopy about had me in tears. Going to the MD at the worst pain is great idea however, OUCH!!!!!!

Carol, I have not hear of the Dr. ho circulation promoter, I'll have to look it up.

Karen, how are your Quilts of Valor projects going?
Linda, I remember you were involved in some charity quilts as well. Still doing that?

Verona, ON

You all sound so busy. It's great to read what is going on in your lives.

Betty I hope you get some relief from your new sling. It looked like everyone had a grand time at your place.

Pat good news on your colonospy (sp) I don't mind the actual procedure but the prep is vile.

It's cool today but the sun is trying to peek out. We had a really heavy rain overnight so I don't have to water today. Even my pots on the deck got soaked.

Thursday I had 5 teeth pulled and the groundwork for 2 implants. I go back on Thurs to have the sutures out. It was a long 3 hours in the chair. I have a temporary denture on the bottom and I have to keep it in until I see the denturist on Mon. I'm still standing so that is a good thing.

Pat this Dr Ho has a few things out on the market. He has mega TV ads and not short ones. Often the ad will run for 30 min. Carol I hope what you ordered gives you some relief.

The TH are being little (well not so little) devils this morning. They were pretty clingy starting Wed night. I think they sense my being nervous about the procedure. Diesel actually got about 10 ft away from me this morning on our walk.

Stay safe and well.
