Dr. Ho unit is great Carole..before I left on holidays I set it somewhere, now I can’t find it.. too bad she wasn’t taking new patients...enjoy your company..

Was gone all day with Sharon, tired me out but think I’ll get into my working nightie and see if I put my feet up or work on a project..around 7-8 I have to go over to Greg’s and let the dogs out for a bit, best not fall asleep and forget.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Nice to see you posting Dianne. Ouch on the teeth extractions. Funny how the dogs know we are nervous or not feeling well.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Pat, before the move down here, Jess and I both got some QOVs made up ahead. Plus we have blocks enough for several. We are both taking a break. Jess because it's marching band season and she's very involved. I started making myself a king size quilt, actually it's an over sized king because I wanted one to fit to the floor. It's all cut out and some parts sewn together but now all put into a tote box so none gets lost or messed up. I'm making Christmas gifts, and some advent calendars, and have the makings for a bay quilt as I have yet another great grand on the way. It's a boy this time, we haven't gotten a boy in 7 years. In that same time we've gotten 5 girls.
I asked granddaughter what she wanted in a quilt. She said bears & bees and forest colors. SO....I found a perfect panel to start with. I didn't want teddy bears or real bears. I'm going to cut the blocks apart and then decide what I want with them. Yesterday I found coordinating fabrics now to find a pattern. I was thinking bear paw blocks but having a hard time finding directions. Any how this is the panel.

Karen, a bear paw quilt block is easy.

I tried to print this pattern, only the words printed, none of the illustrations. Could be my computer, it's old and cranky.

Afternoon all,

Been up and out since 7am, had to let grand doggies out and feed them, Greg and Mel should be back early evening so guess that is it for dog chores..

Dianne, Lordy I cant even imagine the pain it must be to have so much work done, 3 hours is a long time, no can do..weather about the same here, bad storm passed through about 11 last night, glad it was short lived.

You hit the panel dead on Karen, she will ohh and ahh for sure..I have the bear claw pattern if you haven’t found one yet.

Went shopping yesterday and Sharon and I went to Cookstown, I bought a Santa runner pattern, why I don’t know..lol. But they did have a patter I fell in love with, we’ve moved to another page, am sure I posted it, just incase will do so again..decided I’ll order the kit IF the backing is included, have to tell Sharon as she might want to do same..expensive but I’ll get what the hanging one looks like, same fabric.

I had unexpected company drop in early evening, wanted to take me out but I decided not.but we did visit for an hour, sure made my day.

Carole, did you find Xmas gifts for family or was it sunshine and you just enjoyed a bbq?

Took the pieces of 2x4’s I had left from the table made a month or so ago that we’re just sitting in garbage pile, need to find fall decor and decorate them, I did buy fall decor yesterday but much too big

Sharon asked if I wanted to go to town and I said no, maybe I’ll message her and say yes..

Love those pumpkins. Nice use of scraps.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thank you, better than burning at least they have a function. Sharon has a lot of different widths in thickness so may search the web for a simple idea.

I’m posting a before and after, I also got the bathroom sign done now where to put it. As for the pumpkins I used the bandsaw on and cut side chips to give more detail..more work but liked it better! My opinion only....

Sharon called this afternoon and wanted to go into Midland, I got dressed and went with her but my shoulder was killing me so have been laying down ever since I got home.

I’m about half done the penny rug and I thought I might work on it but dad is calling my name, not for sleeping but make myself comfortable. Before I do it I have to call and see if Melanie and Greg are home because if they’re not getting home till late I’ll go and let the dogs out.

I like that one that Linda posted because it has a variety of sizes. I just can't get it to print correctly.

Afternoon, plans was to cut grass but storm blew through, was soooo dark, had me worried for a moment lol

Susan how are you feeling?
Dianne, feeling a tad better?

Of course always worry about you all!!!

Girls came this morning then I started to play..because I cut out 3 table runner kits out I decided to do one, the top at least, tomorrow perhaps I’ll quilt it..thinking Christmas gifts.

Municipality will either be doing the ditches in front this week or next week, anxious to have them cleared out.

I’ve had a craving for turkey all weekend, think I’ll go to town and try and find a frozen stuffed turkey, know I’m on my own but love left overs..can’t cook tonight but could do it early morning

How is the weather in your neck of the woods

Verona, ON

Betty Food Basics have turkey on sale until close tomorrow night for 99 cents/lb. They are not stuffed though.

Heavy rain storm moved through here around 3 pm.... more on the way.

Mouth is still pretty sore. Lots of raw spots. I wanted something warm instead of rice or yogurt so had mashed potatoes. Tasted great ! Sutures out on Thursday.

LK Del Rio made the 11 pm news last night. I perked right up...lol

Stay safe and well.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks Dianne, they were out so got a rain check, bought one at foodland, not stuffed but they had same distributor that sells the stuffing on the side so I’m ok with that..change of plan, will wait until Friday to cook so left overs last me all weekend..Sunday I have machine embroidery course in Cookstown so I’ll have turkey sandwiches to take with me.same weather here.Only sutures out Dianne? Do you have to wait awhile for implants?

Never get to watch 11pm news, what happened in Del Rio? BreAk weather record??

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Hi all, We had a cooler day today..my garden helper came and worked 3 hours and then we had a downpour. Didn't last too long..and then just light sprinkles for a bit.
I saw my GP today about my edema. He gave me a prescription for a pill called Lasix. It is supposed to get rid of some of the water retention. He said to take it in the morning because it will make me use the bathroom often. I'll be enjoying the new tall toilet a lot! LOL By the way my garden guy didn't like the inexpensive grass seed I bought. He said I should buy Scotts turf builder Grass seed ..so off I went. He is digging up a large area and taking all the weeds and turf out and will reseed it.
It is where I had a large tree cut down and the mound all around it taken away. last winter.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Exciting Carol, our yard is uneven & lumpy... I can also see where a tree had once been. I would love to have it all reworked but who knows.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Can't imagine why we made national news. It is cooler a bit. Temps are maybe 98 or so, instead of 100+.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, brrr tks cold, had head on at 72 but am freezing so just turned it up to 74, see if that helps..sniffling a lot so maybe it’s because I might be coming down with a cold..

Carol, weather here is about same as your place, rained again all night and off on this morning..I’ll have to remember the name of that seed, although I think I’m buying good see it doesn’t seem to work.

Lindakay no2 we will all be waiting to hear whT is up in your neighbourhood..are you still sewing with your group?

Pat, you should have had the company who was just there work it up for you..my area is almost lost cause, I work all spring/summer to get it fixed then Andrew plows all winter and digs it up lol

I’ve go a little table runner I bought pattern for Saturday almost done and have lots of painters cloth so am making fall pillows to entertain myself..think I’ll go take a neocitron though and catch this cold before it’s full blown

I'll be darned I can't remember what it was about Del Rio but I think it was something about the weather.

Betty I don't get the final implants until early Dec. The bone has to heal around the screw that was put into the jaw. I don't heal well so that's why I have to wait 3 months rather than 2. Apparently the radiation not only did a number on my teeth but also the bones in my jaw.The dentist also carved away a bit of bone so the denture would fit better. It amazes me he could do all that work with just freezing.

It's quite lovely out after a night of pouring rain.. Sun is shining, there is a slight breeze but it is becoming humid.

The TH are annoyed with me and don't mind showing it. I am waiting for Purolator because sometimes they call and I meet them up at the township road.I don't want to miss the call or even the driver venturing down the lane.So no walks until the delivery is here. It is getting dark so early that I have to put glow sticks on the TH by about 7 pm when we walk.

So Debbie how are Huck and Daisy ? Glad you enjoyed yourself in Canada.

Full moon on Friday the 13 th. The critters outside are starting their carousing early.

Betty does Greg go to Port Dover this Friday ? He has a motorcycle right ?

I must have had my teeth out in Dr. Frankenstein’s office, with freezing only all came out and new dentures set in..it’s beautiful her now as well..

Did you get your parcel yet?

I will have to ask Greg if he is going to Port Dover..know he took Friday off because he was going to cottage for weekend, then he took yesterday off, his 25th anniversary and says he is sooo busy that he can5 keep up the pace, he is trying to hire another him but doesn’t have time to go through applications and hiring process

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yes, I still go to our quilting group, every Wednesday. I am working on 2 baby quilts, for friends that are due in October.
Dianne, Sending prayers for a speedy recovery for your mouth.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

ouch Dianne, on the long time for healing....... just thinking about screws being put in my jaw makes my face ache...... (shudder)
Betty - I'm doing fine - back my normal self (look out world lol). Dr said I should now be monitoring my own INR. I go in on Thur am to get my bloodwork done and when I find out the results, I'll base my meds on that - sounds easy enough. Dr told me this on Tues, but hadn't told me this before. He'd always given me the INR results. Guess I'll get the results from either the pharmacy or med clinic.
I got a real bonus yesterday - our Property Manager asked me if I'd like some sewing stuff - LOTS of fabric, patterns (some pretty dated ones, but I like dated lol like me!), notions, and threads - some never even opened! Oh, and LOTS of buttons lol I like buttons ever since I saw my grandma's & my mom's button jars.. 😊
The other week a neighbour of ours came by with a bag of yarn - her daughter had started to do some knitting, but got bored with it so gave up. LOTS of wool lol
Weather's not great now - really feels like fall, and we've been having MORE rain. It's been a really rainy summer, too.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Congratulations on the fabric and buttons. Make sure you take photos of what you are working on.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan, nothing more exciting than to get supplies you can use to make treasures with and more so when you can make a $$$ on it!look forward to seeing the projects..

Love buttons as well, I’ve colour coded buttons but never does it see I have the right buttons, like now, need 6 black for Santa jacket and none..do have enough of raised design button but that would not do seeing as it’s a table runner, need it flat.

Don came this morning, When Pat asked if don could use my saw I assumed glass saw but nope was wood one..here I cleaned the glass one, filled with water and now have to empty lol

Went into town, brought the fall pillow with me, their pillow inserts were $4, bought 5..put pillow insert in the finished one and dropped into office, put each of their initials in a cup and picked, Cindy got the pillow, seeing how disappointed the girls were I said I’d make them each one..have one 1/2 done

Cooking eggs for egg salad sandwiches, will finish pillow top then go out and cut grass..think I will take that turkey out of freezer to defrost, I’ll cook it tomorrow then I’ll not have to worry about cooking all weekend...even thought of baking pies ..

Fall weather getting to me 😊

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

It sure feels like fall here as well. Had to wear a jacket this morning when I left for exercise. When it was over the sun had come out and was much more pleasant.
Going fora hearing test tomorrow. My Scottish friend keeps saying she thinks I have a hearing problem. I tell her it is her heavy Scottish accent that sometimes I can't understand. We will see.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Starzz (I know you've given your name, and I've seen others use it, but I've forgotten lol), I had people tell me about 14 years ago that I needed a hearing test..... I was fine, just not that interested in paying attention I guess 😂anyway, never hurts to check though...
It was cold this morning, but sure got warm later in the day. It was 22celsius at least, and the sun was very warm.
Started bowling season, and had a good afternoon today. It was a 90th b-day for one of our members, and he brought the balance of his birthday cake that his daughter made - yummy. There was a lot of the sheet cake left, so we eight enjoyed it. Bob bowled a 260 (5-pin) and a 199! I didn't bowl quite so well, but really enjoyed it 👌

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

forgot to mention - The friend who gave me these boxes of sewing items asked me to make chair slippers lol I didn't know what she was talking about, but they slid onto the chair feet to keep the floor from being scratched. She'll give me the # of them she needs, plus an approximate size.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan u made those years ago but I did crochet them, circles, then did a fairly long single crochet to form a rope and worked along the circle edge in and out of crochet openings..put one on each chair leg, and pulled string together, made a tight bow against chair and the chair moved with ease without scratching the floor....then there new clear plastic gadgets came out and I use them instead, don’t think they are as good.

Good luck Carol on your hearing test, better to know and get the proper aids if indeed you do have something wrong with your hearing.myselfi think my hearing is too good, lots of things I shouldn’t hear lol

Was a gorgeous sunrise, haven’t looked at weather forecast yet, still haven’t don’t my grass and so need to, then going to embroidery class all day Sunday, hour drive to get there ..makes for a long day.

Sitting here with penny rug tabs, need them done so I can finish my fall rug and I’ve a top that could be made into a pillow so I’ve lots of chores to do today..best I add washing my floors to the list! Lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, I have a friend that cuts pieces of balls to fit the feet of her chairs. She uses gorilla glue to hold them in place.

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Susan..Hi, my name is Carol. I had the hearing test and I don't need the hearing aids. They said they would follow up in 3 years.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Good, Carol - so may people think they know why we're not hearing, and maybe...... you're filtering out stuff you're not interested in, such as struggling to understand an accent? lol Men are good at filtering out stuff they don't want to hear LOL

My friend wants me to make the knitted chair slippers, so putting balls on isn't what she wants, and I don't know how to crochet.
Betty - that's a good idea about drawing the string through - just do a circle and make an i-string to draw through it. Easy enough to thread the i-string through.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Almost forgot to mention - our friend has an electric scooter/bike that we're buying. she paid $1.5k and we're getting it for $300! Not bad, eh? We can pull the battery out in the winter, and store it in the canvas shelter we put our garden tools in.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

The hearing aids have made a big difference for me but I do really still really struggle with accents. Usually I just ask people to SLOW down!!! I do that with people on the phone ALL the time, even with hearing aids.
$300??? YIPPPEEEE!!! Last year when Marie & I went to Sewing Expo in Puyallup, I had planned on taking my late father's scooter that breaks down into pieces for putting in trunk etc. Anyhow, in the end the battery would not take a charge and Marie made arrangements for me to RENT one. The $300 would have been a better deal!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Pat, they are expensive to rent but I couldn't have done the quilt show without it. Recently went to a smaller show with no riders and ran out of steam rather quickly. This Plantar Faciitis is hard to deal with. Not seeing any improvement. The shoe inserts help but it doesn't take long before I'm worn out. End of every day I'm limping.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, almost afternoon..

Was up at 7, not a wonder as I went to bed at 6:30 last night..wet and cold so I put a new pair of p.j.’s on, took turkey out of freezer to defrost, had some project to work on and said ‘it’s a pj day for me, going to stay in pjs and have a me day...no sooner decided to do that that mom called, she was up at her sisters in coldwater as Bella her dog had an operation(all went well, 2 large stone and had 12 teethed out) anyway I’m in emerge with mom..oops doctor just came

Was a short wait, I expect3d to be there 5-6 hours but it seemed to take Walmart longer to get the prescription than it did to see a doctor..shingles

She is back at aunt muriel’s And I’m back into Jammie’s and have turkey cooking.

My eye is still red, broke a blood vessel, so no harm there..

Hoping to find all that energy I had this morning and get some projects done.

While waiting for mom’s meds I picked up groceries, forgot potatoes, only enough for little old me so didn’t invite anyone for supper..looked while T Walmart for black buttons for Santa runner, nope didn’t have 6 of same so I’ll add eyes and binding and finish coat buttons later..binding is something I can hand sew and takes little energy.

Great news Carol, so now you are able to tell your friend it’s just the accent lol

Now Susan that is a deal..should ask aunt Muriel what she is doing with hers, you never know when I’d need one..yep, need to take battery out.

Best I get a move on, cut out 3 kits for shopping bags I need for tomorrow’s class, just used left overs..wouldn’t take much to do 2 pillow

Karen, meant to say how sorry I am that you are having difficulties getting around..yes those carts are wonderful when you want to participate in events you feel you couldn’t do without one..Lordy how many do they have at an Event?

Best I check on the turkey, hate to burn it

Verona, ON

Betty have you had the shingles shot ? It's not covered by OHIP but is only $40.00. I got the shot a few years ago... I just dreaded the thought of getting shingles and had been exposed to it. My MIL had shingles for a couple of months. It spread to her face... I felt for her.

Went to the local Farmers' Market this morning. It had poured rain all night so not too many vendors. I was able to get 3 sweet potato squash but when I cut 1 in half it is nowhere near ripe. I popped it into the oven anyway with butter and brown sugar.

Carol good news about your hearing test. I had an old uncle who wore hearing aides. When my nagging aunt got too much for him he would just shut his hearing aides off. We all laughed and laughed and made bets on how long it would take him to do that at a get together.

Stay safe and well.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yes Dianne I got it a few years ago, just before I turned 70 doc asked if I had it I said no, he said better I get it before turning 70 because I’d then have to pay for it..didn’t cost me anything.

Sharon just called, a cop rammed the back end of her car, she is at police station, he said she was driving too slow, as if, he is suppose to be in care of control of her vehicle..hoping it’s nothing more than that..always something, not a wonder SHARON has bad nerves

Victoria Harbour, ON

They just confirmed she wasn’t on the phone and she is free to go and they would deal with officer..says she has 7 days SHE can press charges

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

The old shingles shot was discovered to not prevent shingles. There is a new one now. I couldn't get the old shot because of my compromised immune system, but I can get this one. Will be asking next visit. Even though I already had shingles, I can get them again and let me tell you it's not something I want to deal with again. Worst pain and it lasted from beginning of Nov. to end of Feb.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Looked painful..wonder Karen if mine was the new one, only 1 yr ago I got it??
Understand you can still get shingles but not bad, here is hoping I don’t get it..

Spoke to Sharon, was about to eat a turkey dinner so told her to come over, I’d wait seeing she hadn’t had supper..omg felt sorry for her, she has shakes, had them since childhood, gett8ng Worse, tonight she had to use 2 hands to hold her fork and still dropped half of it on her plate. She says she normally eats with a roll, puts the fork against it to help shakes...she is getting worse and at times says her head shakes ..some days I see her hands shake a bit but tonight was beyond belief..

Here I’m sitting holding my neck in mega pain as I eat and her shaking..quite to pair..I held off on meds but going to head downstairs to make sure all machines are off and call it a day, take my meds then
