oh Betty - it sounded so promising that he would return the $$. I hope the company follows through & lay those fraud charges on him! (that is, if they can find him...). something similar happened to Bob when we first moved to Calgary - fellow hired Bob, after 2 weeks, no pay, finally ended up owing Bob over $500. I insisted on Bob going to the head office & tell them what this Contractor was doing. They gave Bob half of what he was owed, although it wasn't their responsibility - how nice of them. The fellow was "into" them for over $35k for vehicles & other equipment he got a loan from them for, so they were chasing him down, too. He was on the run, and not answering the door when Bob or they went around to him place - although his truck was outside. Never did find out anything more, but they were a decent company.
Went for my Stress Test, Echo Test & another test that I can't remember the name of lol They said everything's clear, and I'm to also keep on my same level of Warfarin - blood test on Friday. The end of Oct I go to Calgary for them to try to figure out why I have the repeat of blood clots, 2 years in a row.
Otherwise, I'm feeling fine 👍

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

the blood clots are scary Susan.

Betty.... too bad those ill mannered men couldn't have their mama see them!! Reminds me of when I was a kid and had a girl several years older than me making my life miserable.... My mother advised me to walk to her house (it was just doors away) and wait until her mother was present, then ask her "What have a ever done to you to deserve the way you and your friend treat me?" Yep, ended that! hehehe

Morning all,oops afternoon
Overcast with a high of 70, do need to get my grass cut before I have to rake after it’s cut because I waited too long..

As you all know I’m on call for my BIL and have been for years..he bought an office office, anything that I could do for him could be done from home.he bought late July a beautiful office building in midland, right next door to Mom’s restaurant, located 1 st street after Shrine..all the girls no longer work from home.. I’ve virtually been doing zilch for about 2 years..this morning Suzanne called me, said Paul asked to see me..only 8 minutes from home so was at the office by 10, when I got here he was waiting with keys in his handstand said we are going shopping...ahhh Staples, because of my neck injury he said pick an office chair and don't be looking at price, then we shopped for computer and misc. office supplies..Drats, concerned myself, don’t want to be on schedule...shaking my head no..was told I don’t have to come in to the office, reception has a large screen tv, a fireplace, extra large kitchen should I want to do crafts but told me I only have to come in if I want to come in, stay home, whatever, but if I do want to drop in, he says with a laugh he wants me to be comfy..should have a chair that supports my bad shoulder..sohere I am for an hour or so, niece just ordered in lunch then said off you go

So beautiful out there, had started a fall panel I bought at Easter this morning but then ran into meet up with Paul, now I’m just enjoying the weather, trying to decide if I want to cut grass or just enjoy the afternoon?? Know if I walk my gardens I’ll be out there working..best I just sit with feet up right..

Because I forgot my hot/cold froggy on my trip I could make another, missing heat on my shoulder.

My mind is working overtime with girls coming a week today, mind is everywhere.

Should put all my tasks in a bowl and pick one lol

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Wow Betty, sounds like BIL made and offer you can't refuse. I could really use a job like that.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Me too!! sign me up Betty!

Early morning, yikes was 68 this morning, tad cool when I did my walkabout in the gardens, both Ziggy and I were on the lookout for that black/white critter lol

sunshine showing me that I need to do windows..today has to be grass cutting day but too wet to do it right now so rather than machine quilt the fall piece I will put it on the frame, would love to have binding to hand sew.

Still a bit of colour in my gardens so here is hoping it survives 1 more week.

Actually took my fall decor pieces out yesterday as well as the quilts/throws..really colourful ,tad early but wanted the girls to see it as I know Sherry decorates every corner of her home..

Local garden centre had mums 3/$10.00 last week, will check to see if they still have some when I’m in town this afternoon.

Just sent Jeff some $$$ for him to etransfer to Caleb, his 20th birthday today..no more teens..he is at that exclusive camp in far north and doesn’t come home till next weekend when he heads to university..his 3rd year I believe and think Braedon leaves for BC for his last year..soon will be in the working force.

Well, coffee time, dust and vacuuming then downstairs to put throw on frame

We have company just an hour away. We didn't expect them until this evening and thought we had today to clean...Oh Well.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Do like my friend does, get a couple of Get well cards out, place them about and if they they, didn’t know you were I’ll? you say yes, can’t you see I’ve not been up to cleaning.

Lol

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Dim the lights...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Going to look for someone that does windows...I buy hopes perfect glass from Bath and Beyond and Lordy it works great, just need the energy.

I remembered that I think today is the day that Jeff picks up the boys from camp, Braedon missed running the camp so when he got back went and spent 2 weeks..hoping to find out if our schedules work so that I can drive to Barrie and have eats with them..not going to travel though if it’s 10 tonight....5 or 6 would be good..

Verona, ON

An absolutely stellar day here. I've been out throwing blocks of wood around... well actually stacking. But I sure would like to toss them rather than stack.

Keiran and I stacked wood for a few hours yesterday. He left last night to help this weekend at an event where people work with puppies to see if they would be a good service dog. He loved it last year and was excited he was asked back. Not everyone is.

Hope it works out you can meet up with your boys Betty. I haven't seen a couple of my nephews in over 30 years. Not bad blood just circumstances. Last week my oldest nephew turned 59. Holy moly!!!

Karen I can never understand people who show up out of the blue or arrive waaay too early. I was raised to never be late for anything. Dad always said it was disrespectful. I was never late for anything until I met Warren. He was so bad that friends would tell him they wanted us to come an hour before they actually did. One time we were already in downtown Toronto and he decided rather than go home we would just go for our dinner at a friend's. I tried everything to slow us down but arrived we did. Judy was vacuuming and looked at DH and blurted out "What are you doing here?" The gig was up... lol

LK how are you feeling ?

Pat what do you have planned for your weekend? You always have a jam packed weekend.

Susan that warafin route is hard to maintain.I love all those green veggies you are not supposed to eat. I was lucky the blood tech came to the house 3 times a week so we didn't have to go into Ktown. Sure would be nice if you and Bob could go visit your friend next year.

OK going to watch the news then go throw more blocks of wood around. I'm behind as there was no way we could have worked during that hot spell.

Town was crazy, everyone out shopping for school clothing and supplies..stood in the lineup at Rogers for an hour only to decide I wasn’t getting a replacement phone, Jeff will bring me one of his last ones..

Vegetable stand that closed last year, had been open for 50 yrs..building is falling down, well guess the old fella decided he would sit outside and sell his veggies so I came home with a car load. We had a good laugh, I asked if he’d be around next weekend seeing girls will be here and I want fresh veggies, he gave me a wink and said ‘sweetie I don’t know if I’ll be here tomorrow, I’m not young anymore’ lol. Never say die, goi g to sell veggies till last of his days

Dianne, stellar day here as well although it is clouding over, I’ve a lazy on so just going to relax, but cooking fresh corn first..

Spoke with Jeff this morning, he had to go to a mid morning meeting so likely wasn’t leaving till 2, add 4 hr drive there and to me about 2 1/2 I’m afraid it might be too late but told him I’d see, call when he’s about 45 minutes out.

Dianne just think how pleased you will be be come winter, you will be cozy near the wood stove..glad Kieran is able to do some hours.

I am always on time as well, I also pride myself on the fact that if I say I will do something, commit, there has to be a big reason I don’t do it.

Microwave is telling me lunch is ready!!

Was going to stop for a fast food lunch but Lordy they were busy so cooked something up, likely will do for supper as well.

Sharon has to go to Barrie tomorrow, waiting to hear what time..I don’t want to waste the entire day,we will see.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Jeff is about an hour away, bit late to take the road so we gabbed..got to chat with Caleb, hard to believe he turned 20 today. Jeff will leave in the morning and take a 4 hr drive one way to take him to university..in 2 weeks same with Braedon but he flies to Vancouver after being picked up.

Guess I’ll get comfy and call it a day..tomorrow might just do major grocery shopping for the gals, they arrive thursday early evening..am getting excited!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Company is Son, DDIL, grands and greats. Son usually works until about 4 A.M., I figured they would probably head out then and normally they would have . Half way through his shift, his boss came and said get out of here and go see your parents. So they left about 11 last night. I was totally excited to see them. They did nap for a bit in the early afternoon so I took that opportunity to do a bit of quiet cleaning, dusted, swept instead of vacuum and watered plants. Got the eggs hard cooked and peeled for potato salad and devilled eggs tomorrow. Good thing the chickens have been busy lately. Kids spent most of the day in the pool and hot tub. Tonight we went to first game at school and stayed through their halftime show. All pretty tuckered out by then. Lots of company tomorrow for Bryan's 40th birthday celebration. Good night.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Diane, I used to love splitting wood. Ex would cut into length, I would split and kids stack. My cousin would drop off old telephone phones. We would use creosote end as property marker/ boundary edge and cut the rest for fire wood.

got an email Thursday night that contractor didn't get last job finished when he thought he would, he NOW says, will be here MONDAY... lol... heard that before! Wednesday (because they were coming Thursday) I was out in the dark transplanting the last of the flowers out of the flowerbed that would be eliminated with the patio construction only to find out Thursday evening that they weren't coming this week at all!! ... oh well.

I'm going to work in my sewing room and sort out some projects and put them in clear containers. Then, Monday, have my neighbor boys move them out to the storage. I want to keep ONLY the current doll sewing project, maybe the fabric to finish up more blocks for 2 quilting projects. The rest OUT and make some room for thinking and walking!

Son will be out of town until Monday night so I'll have the game/sewing room ALL to myself and can leave my ironing board up and use the big table!! Whooo oooo!!

Past my bed time, good night all.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, going to be a sunshine day so must make the best of it re garden work but few hours before I can do that as everything is sooo wet.

Busy ladies, lots to do when company comes but how worth it! 5 more sleeps and my my house will be a buzzing..

Karen that was nice of his boss to give him the extra hours off..with all that activity you are including a birthday party, mega work ahead!

Pat, no company will allow you a few extra hours to do what you like doing..does the contractor have projects to keep him busy for awhile?

Looking forward to what you create, love seeing photos..

Have the tack and machine back on frame, lots to keep me busy otherwise but I might give it a go to see if there is a crack in the track or not or if I was just roug( with it..

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Hugged son goodbye and said goodbye to my car again. He is using it, Ben & he did not find time to do some maintenance that was needed on his.

Hopefully he will come back happy camper. He is meeting for 3rd time woman in Portland. She & He are both pretty gun shy. She has 3 yo daughter that Kev will meet for the first time in person although they have all been chatting regularly by video.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Here is hoping all goes well Pat, seems the way young ones meet now days!

What will you do without a vehicle, but then I remember you have several right?

Did more Thani should have, hurting so going for hot bath in soak salts, have a light late lunch, early supper and put my feet up..major yuk spraying my ails so have to make sure I’ve no plans to go out shopping lol

Lovely day for sure, a fall day it is..I know you all say nope to early for fall but I’ve an area I can rake leaves, wether or not from lack of moisture the are falling, doesn’t matter, they are falling lol

Jeff was saying that when he headed north Friday there were visible signs of leaves turning.

Tub is calling my name

I met Ben online, we drove back and forth for months before we got married almost a year later.

I have found a big leak in both the very front flower bed where the picket fence is AND in the flowerbed along the house. Those were both brand new soaker hoses THIS year! Grrrr…. now, find way to fix or buy new and I'd better hurry! Already lost one dahlia and the stores won't be selling hoses much longer! Seeing the dead dahlia is what alerting me to problem. With the leak, the first portion of the flowerbed was getting too much water, then it wasn't getting enough water to really soak the far end.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh no, that’s a big job, one you didn’t need..likely your community hardware store would??fascinates me people meeting on lone..how many years married?

Although we had rain, everything is dry here, will have to start putting the spray hose out in the morning and early evenings..

Yard looks nice cut, so much weeding to do but it will have to wait, who knows, maybe next year. Grrr

Sharon picked up black embroidery thread for me in Barrie but they didn’t have see through..have to keep playing with machine

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

We have been married 13 years this month.
I'll worry about hoses on Monday. I can water other places between now and then.

I believe I read that more than 50% of couples meet online now, I'm too lazy to look it up and reference for you!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, brrr really cool this morning..

Coffee taste wonderful, Ziggy is watching the birds in the trees, both up early to start our day.

Well that’s a longtime married Pat, great when you find your match based on interests, for me, staying away from those sites!! Lol

Now to think out how my Saturday will go, do have to run to Sharons at one point, I’ll give her a few hours to get up..maybe do a bit of tree trimming and go into town for a bit.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Been busy but making progress, leaving for sharon’s to pick up the embroidery thread she picked up for me, would love to get names embroidered for the girls to make it easier..as well base coat of birdhouses, waiting for main base takes forever sooo we won’t have that problem, will be relaxing vs fighting the laments, camp weather paint just doesn’t help..by tonight they will all be done.

When making the quilt racks I had short dowels, what to do with them, decided to use them up, if I don’t find something to do with it I will set it against fence for ivy or clematis...then I finally got the old clear thread working, not without a few cuss words though.. will cut painters tarp into pillow kits, while I start embroidery I watch machine make sure it’s doing the right stitches lol while quilting the fall throw. yikes, cool downstairs, fingers are numb, do me good to warm up, maybe run them under hot water??

Bob & I met the old fashioned way - through someone I worked with :) Although, I almost married someone I met online before I met Bob........

Victoria Harbour, ON

Interesting for sure how people meet these days..

Went to Sharon‘s for a bit, her basement is coming along nicely, not quick enough for her but nice. I should’ve had my camera her friend garden is there spectacular in colour some she planted from her old house and someone is there but beautiful must be in the right direction to get the benefit of the sun.

I dropped off her quilt ladder as it was still here and ended up coming with 8 beautiful light fixtures, now to get them installed ..no won’t be today lol

Decided while I was out and zillion things on the go, Why not add one more thing to the left. But the fixings for the spaghetti sauce, Lordy hamburger is not cheap I bought one package for the sauce and one package for the meatballs and they were minus a few pennies $20 each, good eats though!

Just having lunch and then I’m going to get back at my projects and see if I can’t get them all done today..

Ohhh Foodland had a lovely little fall flower arrangement and cute mini mums so one of each came home with me..

Thumbnail by Bettypauze Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

I drop in for breaks, everybody must be extra busy and NOT taking breaks lol

Made about 80 meatballs, had to make a 2nd batch, pot too small, just have to add what is left of meatballs to 2nd container and let simmer, Lordy I hope I don’t burn them

Maybe I’ll sit upstairs so I won’t forget to stir

We have fires in neighboring areas so skies are not the normal beautiful blue of Tri-Cities.
The contractor had the back hoe delivered this evening.... guess they really are starting tomorrow! THAT's good news.
I got a phone call from good friend, her son died of an overdose. They do not have the toxicology report back yet, so they don't know if it was intentional or not. He was only 17 and a beautiful person. He had been diagnosed with depression this past year, his family had recently learned of his addiction. He was looking forward to treatment that had already been arranged.
He had been a teen volunteer at Royal Family's Camp for foster children and was excited to serve again this year. I can't help but think it was NOT intentional. No way. I am still in shock. I am planning on making a quilt to donate in his name to the camp. Each year, EVERY child get a quilt with their name on it to take home. A physical reminder of God's love for them.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We had a nice day, it did rain for a while but the kids were able to get pool time. Sad they will have to go home tomorrow but thankful for the time with them. Hubby kept the smoker busy with jerky, ducks and salmon. Much enjoyed by most. Even Payton who wasn't going to eat changed his mine when I told him there was smoked salmon.

Pat, heartbreaks for you and your friend, condolences..how a parent deals with this I don’t know..makes me ill just thing that with the increase in suicide in the young that it could me one one of my own, we think they are strong but who knows...

Backhoe for Landscaping in your back yard near the back door right?

Glad you had the family with you Karen, sorry, although I’m sure the meal 2as delicious i’d had to pass lol

Hi all,
Been so busy I am falling behind in my computer time. LOL
I got a new Smart \tv. Just love it!
Had a Birthday dinner for my eldest son Mick. Just 4 of us as most others were busy with other plans. We did an old fun thing..fondue! I came across my fondues pot in the basement while cleaning and thought it would be fun to do it again. We did a cheese fondue and a steak fondue. My daughter Cindy and grandaughter Kate and Mick and I. I made a carrot cake with whipped cream cheese frosting..thanks to Betty Crocker. :) It turned out very well. I also bought a Magic Bullet on the advice of my sis. Having fun making smoothies and it does other things too. I grated all the cheese for the fondue in it. So easy and quick. Was on sale at Canadian Tire. Betty, I love your Autumn quilt.

Lovely family Carol! All those blondes! We are much darker in my family. My twin was the only "blonde" in our family and he darkened up considerably until he went gray.

Contractor had said he would need to move about 3 yards of dirt from against the house etc to get proper drainage & clearance under the patio floor. Fortunately we have an easy place to dump it, right off the end of the yard. That had been the site of the previous owner's garden. The yard ends and drops off about a foot so we'll have room to make that a more gradual slope.

Today will be busy; contractors for new patio, a mechanical to help Ben with truck and I have my 2 neighbor boys hired to help me move some stuff & do weeding.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lordy is a grand day out there..doors open, light breeze..feels as though I’m on a speedway though ,cars are just a racing!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Had to r7n, salesman at the door..
Beautiful family photo Carole..Lordy I haven’t had a fondu in decades..bought an expensive one, should show you, paid $150 and used once...Hm maybe that is something the girls and I can do this weekend

Pat, looking for photo’s of your project tonight..

Not a lot going on at my house today, trying to decide if I have energy to do bedding today or wait for rainy day tmr.

This morning I embroidered Thomas and Green on pillows, later I’ll do Watson and they will be done for the gals to make their project.

Maybe nap first

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I did not get as much sorted, labeled and boxed as I would have liked to. what I had done, I had the guys move to the barn. They are out weeding now. I didn't want to send them home without at least an hour of work.

The jackhammer is done outside, breaking up some pads of cement & moving old curbing. Back hoe is moving earth, Sam says they expect to be done with the patio by the end of next week. It seems I must have left my camera at work. I needed some more "before" pictures. I'll have to settle for some "after" pictures when the time comes.

I already have a piece of lawn furniture bought for it! Found oversized metal chair, missing it's cushions at the thrift store and could not resist. It's sitting in the flower bed for now. I saw an old picnic table that someone was discarding last week and was sorely tempted, unfortunately our truck wasn't ready for me to drive.

The car is loaded with stuff to deliver/or donate & I have more to gather I so should get with it. My SIL is taking one of my Singer sergers. I'll never use it when I have such a nice EASY to thread serger, my Ovation is wonderful!
