I'm not sure if it's been out for a year yet.
Best/Worse/What did I Learn Today? Come sit a spell and chat with friends, all welcome...
Yeah, cop hitting the back of her car is NOT good news for anyone. Whether she was or was not on the phone, the cop HIT HER. I mean, I am glad she was NOT on the phone, but how would that have justified the cop's inattention???
I did take Ben into urgent care, 3 RX's and probably strep.
Another reason for shutting off the hearing aids at family functions is that all the ambient noise is SOOOOOOoooo loud when you have your hearing aids in!!! It can be miserable! That is one of the things I noticed when I got my hearing aids.
Good Morning all, Well I have an wonderful day yesterday. Thank you all for your hearing aid stories. My neighbor has them and he often takes them out Once he put them in his pocket and lost them Expensive to replace them. \he deals with the same Hearing aid place that I went to, here in Newcastle. I will have to control my glee when I tell her that she was wrong. I know that is not very nice though LOL. I would have no problem accepting wearing them if it was necessary though. They are practically invisible. Betty I love the work you do on all your pretties. I have just taken my sewing machine out for the first time in about 15 years I think. Not a fancy one. I bought it from Sears. .So the reason is... I stopped in to visit friends at their trailer on my way home from Dare to Dream Farm where I had gone to buy Honey Vinegar and other honey and Maple products they make. First time there Great experience. Honey Vinegar has many healing properties. I had heard from a friend that it helped with the pain of arthritis..So..Ted the fella of my friend whom I had worked with so many years at the Oshawa Holiday Inn. He asked me if I could sew. I laughed and said I used to sew a few things..doll clothes..pillows etc. but that I hadn't;t had it out in years. Well, he had about 16little pouches that he wanted sew with magnets in them to hold down the screen to block the sun in the afternoon on the deck of the trailer. Apparently Audrey's machine is broken. He had used three safety pins on each little pouch to hold them together. Not very satisfactory. So I have a little project. I MUST quit smoking because of my severe edema (from the Venous insufficiency)..and this will help keep me busy with my hands for a bit. They were both encouraging me to quit yesterday I finished the last cig last night that I had. I had to fight the urge to go to the store last night..But I got through. I put the nicotine patch on. I also found the little scarf I started years ago and knitted a few rows. Ted suggested I try to paint..I laughed and said I couldn't draw a straight line but he said it didn't matter I can paint flowers..so I will try to do that on a dollar store canvas. I think I can look on YouTube for some ideas. Have a great day crafty ladies..I need to get crafty again. LOL
Carol, you are very right. Smoking is a big deal when you have impaired blood flow. Congrats on your first step, it's hard! Both of my parents were smoking and gave it up. My 80+ YO aunt just quit!!
That is so sweet of you to drag out the sewing machine so you can help with the sun blocking screen! Great project, sewing enables us to do SOOOO much more, I would be lost without my machines! Knitting, sewing, and painting?? LOL, your hands are getting busy!
There are some "paint with me classes" being offered locally. Marie (my sister) REALLY wants me to go with her. I don't have the heart to refuse. I saw the projects, I got to admit, they do not interest me. Tobe honest, I could paint them out instructions. I'll go at least the first time so she can get comfortable. LONG time ago I used to paint a little, now the only thing I paint are walls and paper towel holders!
Carol, what helped me was...and I know this sounds silly but...I would NOT allow my self to bum a smoke from anyone. I said if I wanted to I could buy a pack , but I didn't. It will take a while, just remember, The urge to have a cigarette will go away, whether you have one or not.
Hello!
OMGosh I have been MIA. I am so sorry! Betty done wore me out! haha NOT.
Just so much going on and I am friend.
Huck & Daisy holding their own, but Huck is going downhill fast.
AND Now I start typing and someone is here! Grrrr
Be back
Betty I was trolling around on you tube and found a young guy Drake Milligan. He won the Senior Youth category at the Elvis contest in 2014. They no longer have that competition- right?. I remember it was always just before Meaford. He's very good !!!

Betty, does your Sister have Parkinson's? She needs to see a Dr.
Evening everybody, been a busy busy day
Good for you Carol getting your machine out and thinking of a painting class.so wish you all lived closer I’d help you all out.just ask Debbie how easy I made it for them to do their birdhouses.would be so much fun and Lordy do I have pain, surfaces and brushes.
Difficult to stop a habit..I try to get off Pepsi/coke and that is not going well.
Debbie I so enjoyed your photos on Facebook!
was up early and off to Cookstown For a class, Lori takes an hour to pack all your goodies anyway I didn’t think I’d stay long but I just went on like all the other ladies in fact they need to bake and I ended up making three, they aren’t overly large there for groceries for a little odds and ends had fun embroidering it and chatting. Now with the loss of strength in my arms I have to get Greg to come and put the domes on the three bags... I think they’re cut, wether or not I’ll use them or not is another thing
1st kit..penguin kit
2nd front bags folded
3red back of bags
Sure was an expensive day I bought two packages of pre-walk around Bob And’s and paid for my penguin quilt kit and there went $240..No there’s a reason I stay home!
Beautiful bags. What do you mean by domes for the bags?
We have a store here by the name of Home Goods and it sells big beautiful bags for just 99 cents so I have LOTS of them! I frequently use them like gift bags.
Lovely Betty..thanks for the tips on not smoking ladies. I have made it through the day. But at one point I almost jumped in the car and drove to the store to get some cigs. I just kept taking deep breaths. and saying you have to do this. I put another nicotine patch on earlier this evening. I also cleaned the garage..have to keep busy. I have the machine out on the table all ready to go. I just have to read the book to refresh how to thread it. I am tired now..and will do the sewing tomorrow.sometime.
I found some smooth large pebbles when cleaning the garage..so will paint them and put nice words on them and put them in the garden. Feet and legs are burning now..so I will get my ice wraps and put them up. Good Night all. Thank you for the encouragement. It means a lot.
Betty - it's Not a medical scooter - it's like a Vespa.
Congrats on working to be smoke-free, Carol!!! My friend Susan was told (when she was 55) that she had the lungs of a 95 yo woman, and now she's quit smoking at age 57 a year ago, and feels SO much better :) I'm SO proud of her. I quit 21 years ago, and couldn't Think of going back to being a smoker.
Currently I'm making Sticks Card Games - 6 sets (3 in wooden boxes, and 4 in Christmas boxes), for the Farmer's Market on Tues from 10 - 1pm. I made some Salsa & pulled out some jams & marmalade too. Bob's going to sell his homemade winter scarves. He knits them on a hand loom.
Looking forward to seeing if we sell out. He has about 15 or more scarves. All different - different patterns, & colours & lengths
Morning, dark out there, been up for an hour, one of these days I’ve promise myself ill sleep until noon. Weather will be 72-78 this week with no rain, hole by mid afternoon I’ll get to cut my grass, sure needs it..
Missy is laying beside me wanting to cuddle, I’m not going there as I want to cuddle in bed today as well, we’d make a good cuddle toy for each other but girls are coming to sew at 9 and I need to go look for my pattern for the Christmas wine stocking we made so many of last year..can’t be too far
Oh happy days, township came today and did my ditches..best I not back into one as they are about 4’ deep
is the ditch at the end of all the properties to handle the run off? and accept some of that SNOW you plow off??
No, front of properly..yes will certainly help run-offf..the other side of the street it’s sidewalks, on this side we have culverts..went to Foodland for a few groceries, main road going down towards the lake next road to me) is being prepped for paving..I should call township to thank them, am sure they get a million complaints but not a lot of thank you’s.
Got a call, thursday I called specialist office to see if I could go on cancellation list, got a call, go at noon tomorrow. Just took my harness off and won’t take any pain meds, don’t want to mask the pain like I have been..here is hoping something will be found..why I need to bring shorts and light shirt is beyond me!!
Called Greg, told him to drop in to take turkey and fixings on his way home after work..fridge full of food and I go buy corn on the cob lol. Season soon over..
Anytime I need an exam, they need to see your legs to test for reflexes. Same with your arms. I always have to bring shorts.
hehehe... I remember wearing short sleeve shirt and thinking I was prepared. The nurse said "Bend over and pull your waist band down! Yep, shot right in the butt.
I'll bet Greg was happy camper to get those primo leftovers! Yes, I will be sad to see corn gone. Fresh corn on the cob is sooooo good.
I have been back on the stationary bike now for a while. I am pedaling about 2.5 miles in 15 minutes. I would be a lot faster if I wasn't reading a book while I am pedaling! I should start walking with Kevin, he usually goes a couple of times a day and completes the 1 mile loop around the block. I just know I can't keep up with him and he probably enjoys the time on his phone with girlfriend in privacy away from home.
Morning all, suppose to be a sunshine day, about 74 degrees, perfect for me..
when people walk it’s sometimes just as much for reflection time as it is for health.what is your goal for mileage Pat?
Guess LIndakay it sounds normal re shirts and loose blouse..
Girls come at nine so I will have to get list of meds and clothing together.
Greg worked late and got her at six..he was ready for a long chat but I was edging him on towards the door..he left with 4 containers of food and yes he was happy, said enough turkey for today’s sandwiches for lunch. I said ‘not kicking you out’ as I edged towards the door when he said ‘sure feels like you are saying there is the door use it!! Drats..so needed to be comfy in bed
I gave him his 25th anniversary envelop as he was leaving, almost forgot about it, he said we will give you a call when we go out and you can come out with is..told him it was for Greg and Mel time..we talked about the years and how quickly they go by, he said he was beating milestones, he turned 50, did his 25 anniversary , if he liv3s another month he’ll be beyond what his dad and I lived and then just needs grandchildren to see as he dad didn’t get that opportunity..I could see his dad was on his mind!
Went for my appointment, did a lot of testing with probes and needles and found nothing wrong with the shoulder itself or my reflexes....did say that she thinks it’s muscles pressing on a nerve so she sent me down for an X-ray and told me to book imaging appointment then come back up when I had that date and they would book an appointment to review what it shows.
Put my name down for the x-ray and asked for the appointment, almost died, they were booking end of December for shoulders can you imagine? She had said our next appointment here, so I asked did you mean there may be another facility that I could go to? She said there was and checked the system, there was just a cancellation in Collingwood for Thursday morning at nine, it’s about 1- 1 1/2 furs away but I’m willing to make that drive. Sooo back upstairs I went to the receptionist and told her about Thursday’s appointment and couldn’t believe my luck... looked at her schedule and started to laugh, yesterday when she called to say they could fit me in today she forgot to take my name off the sept. 30th so I get to keep my original appointment lol
Leaving doctors office I ran into Paul/wilena, she’s not doing very well , not much they can do for her, we chatted for a few seconds then on the way home I heard a horn toot and it was Greg he headed one way while I headed home, guess he will drop in tonight on his way home to find out how I made out.
Part that scares me the most is if they said ‘we we can’t find anything!!
Hang in there. There are test they can do, to find the pinched nerve.
Betty you had better buy a lottery ticket !!! I am so happy for you scooping up those 2 appointments even if 1 was already yours. MRIs unless you are already a patient in the hospital take forever here too. It's the same with some surgeries. I know of someone who was months out for a knee replacement so he made sure he fell and need an ambulance to get to the hospital. He was admitted and had the surgery within a week. Don't know if I could do that.
Absolutely a stellar day here. The baby rabbits are driving the TH crazy. There are baby snakes too. Chaos came running towards me with 1 in his mouth. He was so proud of himself...lol.
Pat you have encouraged me to get back on the stationary bike again. I have a treadmill too and have ignored them both for far too long.
I am going to do some bacon in the oven rather than in a skillet.I bought some great tasting tomatoes at the market on Sat. I haven't had bacon in probably 4 - 5 years. Warren loved it so we had it often. Me it has to be really crispy with no sign of fat before I will put it in my mouth.
Perfect day tomorrow Betty or so the WLs say for your trip to Collingwood. It is such a pretty drive or at least it was for us when we went to Meaford.
Actually Dianne getting those appointments in a row put me in a real good mood, just the thought of waiting three months made me want to cry..
Yes, it will be a nice day Thursday, round 78, perfect fall day! I couldn’t believe just the difference in fall colours since Sunday. Bet you miss your meaford days..you know the lady with fabric dolls is still there..problem with that show is it rarely changes vendors. Drats on the snakes
I’m with you, minute I find a piece of fat in my mouth I gag..my bacon is always crisp as can be..I’ve turkey to finish off, decided to go cut grass, maybe 2 more cuttings then I can service the mower..I kept going around front tree cutting, I virtually could rake a bag of leaves..have to call Andrew to make sure I’m on his fall clean up lust.
Just called mom for her birthday, says she is in so much pain, shingles now up her back...not a nice way to celebrate a birthday!
That picture is so pretty! FANTASTIC luck! I once got to have a cyst removed the SAME day I called for an appointment! Had a cancelation just before I called in. Made it FAST so I couldn't fuss and worry bout it.
Kevin was able to have the partial cornea transplant so will be much quicker /shorter healing process.
Morning, dull day but nice ..
Pat, bet you did as I did, a little happy dance lol
Found a piece of fabric that has little red cardinals so I’m playing cut out this morning..might take a ride to midland or might wait until tomorrow and pick what I need in collingwood.
Mom’s neighbour sent me photo’s last night, she went to visit mom for her birthday and brought her cake..Lordy she is looking frail..when I call her she said they were tarting in other areas...
Kev saw the MD this morning, after less than 24 hours since surgery. MD said looking FABULOUS - is already healed to the 4 day mark! Kev says he can see out of it better already.
My goal for the bike is to ride it at least 2 miles a day, preferably everyday, when we have company it's more difficult because it's in the guest room.
Betty - VERY happy that you're getting your 2 appointments earlier than you expected - how wonderful! Yes, your mom is looking pretty frail, but she also looks good. Happy Birthday to your mom!
Pat - Wonderful that Kevin is healing so well 👌❤
I'm knitting little chair slippers (pattern says "booties" 😂) Have 2 done, and need to do 20. Working on the 3rd one - take about half hour to do each one
busy week this week - church meeting, senior's meeting, working at bowling lane, pre-bowling for league, crafting group, coffee group, cribbage, and running to town for all sorts of things. Every day this week it's either morning & afternoon, or afternoon & evening. Today I went to a church meeting, then to Crib, then back to town to pre-bowl because tomorrow is bowling, but I also have the senior's meeting so Bob will go bowling & I'll go to the meeting. A friend who lives in Three Hills will give me a ride to meet Bob. Oh yeah, on Tues am we had a table at a Farmer's Market, so after coffee Monday we were prepping our products - card games for me, and knitting scarves is what Bob was doing.
We've had so much going on this week that I can't seem to remember it all 🤣
I hope you did good for sales at your booth Susan.
Betty thinking about what a lovely drive you will have to Collingwood today. We always used to look for a little pink cottage that was on the road from Collingwood to Meaford. I guess that would be Georgian Bay the structures were facing. Every year 1 of the cottages had been torn down and a mega mansion was built. The last year we did Meaford I couldn't go but when DH got home he said the lone holdout the little pink cottage was gone. Are you OK with an MRI ? I have had so many I just go into the tube and put myself into a Zen state.
Yes Meaford has a very low turnover rate with artisans. The sales are so good every year nobody wants to give their spot up. We got our booth because the SG person who had done the show had died.
Pat 2 mi is good spin. I would prefer to ride a bicycle outside but with these vertigo attacks popping up I am afraid to do so. At least with the stationary bike it is beside the bed so I can just roll off of the bike onto the bed. I have made a promise to myself I would not make the bike a clothes horse and have been able to do that.
LK when do you go back to the heart specialist ? I am guessing your medication is doing well.
Susan I have to tell you since this move you sound the happiest I have ever heard you. It looks good on you.Bust too!!
Liz are you lurking ? The TH say "Hi". Chaos has decided he likes carting around a baby snake. He always drops it in the garden. You should see him when he runs flat out - tongue out, ears flapping and a huge ole smile on his face. I should try to get a video of it.
Deb how are things with you ? Missing your pups? How is your daughter doing ? Suicide of a loved one is so hard to handle.
Woo Hoo on Kevin's surgery. I have cataract surgery Oct 30 and Nov 12. I figured I would have a friend who drives into Ktown every M - F drop me off at the hospital then take a cab home. That's a no go... someone must accompany me when I sign in or they won't do the surgery. Plus they won't release me until a person comes to pick me up. Not having DH really throws a spanner into the works.
I've been up since 3 am so will feel like a nap later today. My get up and go has gone. I think this long drawn out drama over the last few months has taken its toll both physically and emotionally. I still find myself chewing on 1 side of my mouth like I have done for the last several months. With the temporary dentures I don't need to do that but old habits die hard.
LK are you affected like Houston with this latest storm ?
Carol I wouldn't know Newcastle now. I taught and worked in the Hampton/Bowmanville/Oshawa in the early 70's.
Stay safe and well.

Heart meds are doing pretty good. No Dr till January. No rain here for 3 months now. 100+ temps still. 103 today.
Liz, so good to see you posting. How are you doing?
Linda are you OK with all the flooding we are seeing?
