Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Pull up a chair and come chat with friends, new and old....

Karen, where are you on your Quilts of Valor projects? Are you connected with a new group there or taking a break? I saw a panel that was new to me and I really really liked it! They don't carry it in any of the Joanns within 100 miles of me unfortunately and I don't like ordering fabric. https://www.joann.com/novelty-cotton-fabric-panel-44in-pride/15562028.html

Betty, have a wonderful tip and be safe.

My garden is starting to bloom. In about a week it will be beautiful. The high winds last week made a mess of everything and I, again, need to clean all of the patio furniture.

I also have to connect some more drip lines and I cannot find my little tool I use to make a hole in the main line.

Pat, are you done with your remodel? It is that time of year, just about, that you should be able to si back and smell the roses.

Karen, you are just a sweet person, you probably cannot say no to anyone. How is your move going? Everything done. Summer is just around the corner and all of your grandchildren will travel through.

Susan, how are you doing with your remodel of your landscape.

Betty I saw all of your new pretties on Facebook. You are so amazing how much you can get done in a day.

I check in everyday but Vern has good days and bad days. And my sister was here for 5 days and we had crappy weather all of the time she was here. Housekeeper will be here tomorrow and I need to pick up our taxes.

Hugs to all of you.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh Pat we have 3 quilts finished and three tops made. I did have some other projects, a couple new baby quilts. I was working on a 12 month block a month project but found all the directions and went ahead and finished. That was also for QOV so I have blocks for 2 more quilts done. NOW I'm going to make myself a quilted bedspread. I've never made me one so now is the time. I found a pattern I really loved and ordered all the fabric. I want to make it right away in case I need more fabric I want it to be available.

Sharon, we are all moved in and fairly settled. We had a garden area plowed and got it fenced in today...to keep out the neighbor chickens. We will be planting this week. The neighbors did manage to get most of the chickens secured in their yard but there are still 7 running free. Three of those are roosters so I imagine they didn't want those penned in with the rest of the hens. I've seen a hummingbird at my feeders, excited about that.

Morning,

Ziggy is sitting here beside me on the couch wondering ‘what to heck is she doing this early in the morning having a coffee and wondering how to start her day? ‘
Been watching a movie since 2 o’clock no will not fall back to sleep so I might as well get up and start my day.

Are you also up Dianne? Maybe it’s the weather in our area that’s causing us to be restoess..no fun.

Darlene message me yesterday they were just north of Cincinnati heading home it’ll be nice to see her But it’s doubtful I’ll see you before I leave Wednesday.

Guess I’ll have a coffee and then go downstairs and tidy up my craft room might even get Sharon’s quote on the frame,Can see in early nap is in the offing...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Drats, winter wonderland out there, enough snow to shovel and plowing grrrr

Victoria Harbour, ON

Have to take a trip to Barrie today once they call me to say my vehicle is ready

Dianne amd Debbie what is the weather in your neck of the woods?

Lordy, you can get a lot done when you get up in the middle of the night..just put 2 more Laoensee pillow tops ready to sew and the last Lapensee pillow embroidering then I think I have enough fabric to move on the another family name..

Eyes getting heavy, might put curls in my hair then try and nap

Betty I was up also...... I know they say you need less sleep as you age but this is ridiculous.

Here in Verona we have been on quite the weather ride. Since Sat. night we have had continuous rain, wet snow a full blown T and L storm and lots of wind. The thunder was booming and shaking the house.

Karen I was doing a show once in Port Carling a lovely town in Muskoka - cottage country. A group of Mennonites had a huge booth selling baked goods and quilts. Their quilts started at $8,000. This was back in the 90's. I could hear people complaining about the high price until this 1 woman came along and openly said "These are well priced." The woman ended up buying 3 - the crowd around just gasped.

The TH and I walked a couple of times yesterday and it wasn't so bad. The rain was steady but not heavy. All sorts of bones of dead animals are showing up now the snow and ice are melting.. Of course the TH delight in either trying to devour what they can before I reach them or want to roll in it. Ewwww.

Debbie are you feeling better ?

Need to start cleaning out the drawers in the kitchen. That is my goal today. These drawers need to be emptied and washed out. I have a big box for things that will need to be thrown. I plan to be ruthless.... what does one need with 3 of an item?

Think I am finally ready for some breakfast . My tummy has been rolling the last few days and eating makes it worse. It will be something bland .... like milk and toast.I haven't had a coffee for months. I go through stages like that with no coffee for months at a time then start up again where coffee once again tastes delicious.

Sharon has Vern been up to going outside for a bit ? Are you as hot temp wise as LK ? LK's 107* had me gasping.

TH are snoozing away. I might light a fire and joy them. I pulled out the sofa bed in case I needed to lay in front of the fire. I let the fire die out but it is so damp I need to boot it back up.So nap first then tackle the drawers.

Stay safe and well

Too warm here for fire and nap, but that does sound good!

OBVIOUSLY she thought the quilts were priced fairly if she bought 3 beginning at $8,000!!

I got the taxes finally done amid much groaning and growling. I'll be honest, I HATE and RESENT having to be the one that does all the book keeping and taxes, etc, etc. I know Ben can't, but I find it hard to not be resentful when he's blissfully reading a book while I am struggling with this stuff.

I have a haircut planned and the day doing who knows what with my sister. Hopefully that will give me an attitude adjustment.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I've always done our taxes so no biggie, I did go and get the free help available for seniors with the move and all. We came out of it OK. I asked one of "my sons" in MI who works for H& R Block to help with MI for the same reason. Came out there good too, sent him some Salmon from our fav. place in Alaska.

Our weather is nearly perfect, mid 70s, I know it will get much hotter but am enjoying this. Our garden is in, now let's see if we have it protected enough from the chickens. We can play with flowers and shrubs now too.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Most years I am very organized, get the taxes done much earlier. I gather all the needed paperwork as it comes in the mail. I thought I had it all and I didn't! Then between selling the Othello and other issues, I was so much more complicated than normal!
to add insult to injury, Ben would ask if we could out to eat etc, and I'd have to explain again, that I was working on the taxes, I HAD to get the taxes finished!! Not how I would like to spend my weekend. I was craving working outside, being with my sister, ANYTHING but working on taxes.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

wow Betty - winter wonderland INDEED!! I wonder Why it's still Winter for you!! (lol)
Hope that Ontario's weather improves for both you & Dianne! Enough already! (Is Mother Nature drunk?)

Verona, ON

Susan I think you might be onto something...... Mother Nature might have had too much of her own elixir.

Never did get to the drawers. I have this bad habit of tossing things into a box not putting them away. I got into 1 of the boxes which led to another so I got busy getting things put away. The next thing I know I was moving furniture. Please let the weather settle down so the TH and I can spend more time outside.

Stay safe and well.

Morning all, supposed to hit 50 today imagine snow yesterday warm him up today not a wonder everybody sick.

Not much going on in my life today, girls will be here just so this morning and another bunch this afternoon. Putting together garbage for the curb,, Think what I might do is get the paper and cardboard rather than putting it at the curb and setting a fire in the pit, doesn’t look like the wind is up so might be able to burn some of the brush before the girls get here.

Guess I should start getting a list together and do some packing as I leave tomorrow But not till later in the day ..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Almost an hour picking up branches, little nippy out there but much warmer and no wind, fire pit overload, some did burn but not much..wayyy too wet, need a few days of dry weather, not to be calling for rain most of the week..coffee in hand, need to put quilt on frame before girls come, it’s a modern piece, need to think of something different than the norm to quilt on it but what?

Lyndonville, NY

Morning,
Dianne, still not up to par and doc is scratching his head. Arm and joint pain in fingers and elbows thru the roof. Tried so much, nothing helps.

Betty, where are you off too on this trip? Travel safe and have fun!

Weather here was thunderstorms, no snow that stuck. It flurried a bit but turned into downpour. I am really shocked all the flowers up and ready to bloom. I NEVER have blooming tulips until mid May at the earliest. Mine are up and showing the blooms coming up already. Even my Lilac trees have little leaves.

Waving to all, stay safe!
Debbie

Sharon sold her home, needs the house inspection done but no problems there..she is going throw a rough time. It will be good to have her close.

Debbie, sorry you are still going through health issues..annoying when they cannot find root of the problem.

Dianne and Debbie tomorrow night we will spend it in Lewiston then early morning we will head to Castile to see Grand Canyon of the east then Amish country, Philadelphia then on to Atlantic city.

Girls were hard on me,tired tonight..
Every bone in my body is aching, hot bath and a date with Dr.Ho is in order.

Glad to hear she sold her home. Her new one is beautiful.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Has Sharon moved into the new house yet?

Verona, ON

Safe travels. Betty. Wagging my finger at you... enjoy your holidays but don't overdue it every day so you can't enjoy the next one. Listen to your body.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Have a great trip, we will be waiting for photos.

It's our Barb's Norm's BD today. I wished him well on FB. I sure do miss Barb. Her last Santa Warren exchange she had my name. One of the things in the parcel was a winter vest. She knew I loved peppermints and in the pockets were peppermints. Being a softie I haven't had the heart to eat the peppermints. I just keep adding new ones. Yep I am a sentimental fool.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I too think of Barb often. She and Norm had a special marriage and I know it must be difficult for him without her.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, sunshine day here even though it’s a bit chilly, silly me I was out trying to wash the windows inside of my car, sprayed it and the spray froze, that’s what you get when you’re up early in the morning lol so I left it and have to go do that now and wipe away winter dust on dashboard before we leave. Washed it yesterday and didn’t go anywhere so should be clean..don’t you always do car clean up before going on a trip, don’t know why, needs a clean up when we return...

Been on the phone all morning, Sharon nerves are bad , so gabbed with her, trying to point out all the positives, not easy leaving your home. I will enjoy her living close by she’ll be moving here June 14 I believe so not that far away.

No sooner hung up that Darlene called and we must have gabbed for an hour, then Suzanne called.. I’m all talked out now.

Do miss our Barb as well, really sad losing friends. Tubby’ birthday is tomorrow, Loved opening DG as Tubby always had a joke of the day for us!

Will have my iPad with me so I will update

Off to clean inside car windows

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Miss Barb so very much. We have a post she started in the other house and kept her picture so every time we open it she's there.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty have an awesome and safe trip. Yes please don't over do so you can enjoy it all.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Settled in for the night..

Started to take winter covering off back deck, did a few panels, did something to my neck...ready for bed but need dr Ho treatments first lol

Verona, ON

Good morning.

When do you leave Betty ? I forgot the time. Safe travels.

Full moon tomorrow night and the wildlife is really making itself overheard overnight .Anxiously awaiting the sound of the peepers - they can actually lull me to sleep. The otters are being frisky and the loons are back. I heard my first loon yesterday... Love the sound and sure is a sign warmer weather is coming.

Guests for dinner tonight so instead of something fancy I'll just make scalloped potatoes, ham and an Italian Cauilflower/Olive salad. I am going to make a Limoncello cake. Had to borrow a bundt pan from neighbours as when I purged my baking utensils mine hit the throwaway pile.Never made this cake before so am looking forward to it.

What's everybody up to today ?

I think I might try for a nap right now been up for hours.

Stay safe and well everyone. If I don't get back Happy Easter everyone.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, just leaving buffalo for a leisurely day of sightseeing
Gab tonight

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I'm never heard of Limoncello cake. sounds interesting! Loons are amazing, lucky you!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Enjoyed the loons when we lived up north on the lake.

I'm stuck upstairs for the day. Night before last my foot hurt me all night. In the morning I could barely walk on it and needed my cane. I didn't do a thing to it as far as I know. Last evening it was still so bad that Jess took me to urgent care. Xrays show no damage at all, Dr. said must be muscular. Still bad today I don't think I want to risk the stairs. It's very frustrating to have so much pain and no discernible reason for it. Looks like our plans for the week-end are Kaput.

In memory of Tubby - here's one of his sayings that I kept:
Posting from Tubby in June 2009

LOL.. good advice.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Had a great day on Wed - we played cribbage in the afternoon, and I won 2nd place - $8, which meant that our playing and the 50/50 was free 😁
Then at night we went to the bowling tournament we were in, and I won Ladies Bowler of the Year for my 85 pins over average. I'll have my picture in the paper, and my name on a name plate that goes on a plaque that is on the wall at the Lanes.

I'm schedule to have my upper teeth taken out on May 31st, then my basic dentures (not implants) put in the same day. On April 22nd the denturist will take impressions. I'm getting a full upper, and partials on either side of my front teeth, on the bottom. Looking forward to having a nicer smile.

Can mature cotoneaster shrubs be transplanted?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just got into hotel in Philadelphia, not sure what supper plans are but I’d be ok,high 70 to low 80’s

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, sounds like you're going to have a sore mouth for a bit.
I don't know what cotoneaster shrubs are.

Betty, sounds like you are staying busy. I hope the quilt shops were open.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

some pictures of cotoneaster (sounds like ka-Tone-E-aster). I used to pronounce it cotton easter lol
https://www.gettyimages.ca/photos/cotoneaster?sort=mostpopular&mediatype=photography&phrase=cotoneaster&license=rf,rm&page=1&recency=anydate&suppressfamilycorrection=true
The ones I see don't usually have the big red berries - they're very prevalent throughout Alberta.
