Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Pull up a chair and come chat with friends, new and old....

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Hope it's nothing serious with the car, Susan. Wonderful that you have a friend that was able to lend you her car!

Where is everyone?? Hope all is OK.

Our snow is all gone, but we've got heavy rain, we're supposed to have rain every day this week. The yard was all mud already. Yuk!

Had a good meeting with my Afghan Hound club yesterday. Our show is coming up in early June, and, even though I've only recently joined, I was appointed to get prizes for the winners. I bought big bath towels and had them embroidered with the club logo. I was so nervous for everyone to see them, my first responsibility with the club, I didn't want to screw it up. Thankfully everyone loved them! What a relief! Now anxious for the show!

Deb

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, I hope you car is an easy fix.

Anyone heard from Betty?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Haven't seen her here or FB. Hope she's OK.
Wasn't on much today had landscapers working on the yard and of course we had to sit on the porch and watch those hunky guys.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Yes, where's Betty?
My car - no charge for towing, and after it was done they said $250, then when I went to pay it was $212 lol
It was the battery - hidden in the trunk, under the spare tire, of all things!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, cool out there..

Haven’t been feeling well, can barely walk, feels like tractor trailers took turns running me over..girls come this morning, didn’t cancel as it’s only 2 hours then back to bed I go...

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty love, please don't ignore this. You might need help to fight this.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I agree. It never hurts to see the Dr. Maybe he missed something.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I got a lot of the chemicals done while I could yesterday. I would have loved to just SIT and read, do NOTHING but the urge to get something done was stronger I think!!
Saw the dermatologist Monday morning to check out some suspicious spots but he said they were all fine, no worries. Took pictures for reference just in case later if we suspect change.
I forgot to post my note!!… oh well...
I got the butterfly bush trimmed up, cut off a fair portion of the lower limbs and cut out some of the middle of the Knock Out rose, I took the load of old pallets etc to the dump. So I guess I don't have to feel like a complete slacker!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

THAT does not sound good Betty... a follow up with MD is in order.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

oh Betty - PLEASE take care, and don't overdo. I know, we keep telling you, but you're not listening. You're not 60, anymore........

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, please pop in and tell us you are ok.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

My thoughts exactly LindaK. I'm starting to get very worried.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

This is so not like Betty to be off here so long. I'll be joining the pacing in circles.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

I keep checking back to see if Betty's checked in. I'll join you ladies in your pacing.

Lyndonville, NY

I am messaging her sister.

Lyndonville, NY

OK Betty was on line, I talked to her directly.
She is so worn out and hurts like trucks ran over her.
Rita is coming tonight and staying over. She has been going non stop
and really needs to rest.

Other than that she SAYS she is OK.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Thanks for checking on her, Debbie!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the update Debbie.
Sending prayers she is feeling better soon.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Thanks Debbie, when one of us is MIA it is very concerning! NONE of us is getting any younger and we all are sporting our own unique health issues.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Thank you Debbie, been worrying all day

Lyndonville, NY

She said she will try post in morning.

Her Ipad was down also, so she tried to rest and not sit at computer. I think I need go visit with duct tape.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all..suppose to be sunshine days for next 2 days, perhaps that will help these old bones..not looking for 4 days of rain staring Monday though.

Thanks for your concern, not to worry!

Debbie not need to get duct tape to tie me down more like a fire cracker to get me up.

Had company come every day and SUZANNE and l8nda watching me closely..Rita,Suzanne,Linda and I went for supper thursday night, I moved ever so slightly and let out a scream from pain, scarred the bejewels out of them lol..ate a bit and took almost my entire meal home, was suppose to be supper last night but decided cereal would be enough..

Rita no sooner left yesterday morning that Darlene and John came, was so nice of them, some of the girls wanted to make quilt raddersfor Mother’s Day gifts, I included and I didn’t get lumber, cutting of rails and dowels so they picked and cut everything so girls wouldn’t be disappointed.

I’ve been up since 12:30am, sandman didn’t find me so decided to take meds, hot bath, hot chocolate and toast, once meds start working I’ll go back to bed.

Don and pat are coming this morning, mom had ordered in coldwater a set of hanging pots and I had ordered one as well, Pat picked them up amd said they would visit for a bit.

At some point I want to go look at riding lawnmowers, won’t be long I’ll be needing it..I see both Home Depot and Canadian tire have sales this weekend.

Thought my iPad charging opening was broken, I had bought a new apple cord just last fall so couldn’t be that right, tried another 2 cords I had,not apple product and didn’t work. first time I felt good enough to go to town bought the apple cord and voila, not the metal insert of iPad but the cord..so now charging, wearing happy smile.

Ray and his crew came and got my yard done, once he fulfills his clients needs re yard work he will come back and but down all the limbs of the trees thatoverhang over the roof, says likely not for 3 weeks, then he will send someone to wash house..washing all the decks is on my mothers list of to do for the boys and yes Debbie, I’ll supervise cleaning if the pond, either boys do8ng it or I’ll hire someone.

Ziggy is crying for the door, I keep telling him there are bad critters out there but he wants out, sorry little one, not going out til dealbreaker, yet hours away.

Few weeks ago I finished my patio set of cushions, had so much fabric left that Darlene asked if I’d do her set..well I got done 3/4 of it done and running out of fabric, can’t buy more, might go downstairs and see just how much I’m shirt and come up with a plan..

Several days this past week I didn’t even go downstairs, that tells you how I’ve been feel8ng, big sigh

On the mend thought

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, you need to see the Dr. Somthing in you is changing. Maybe there are different meds or treatments available.
Glad to see you posting, but please see the Dr.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I vote for duct tape NOT firecracker!! Your body is screaming STOP!! and you are ignoring it. Please listen... we love you and are concerned for your health and well being.
Mother's day quilt ladders etc are NOT as important as your health. You want to be around for plenty of years more.
My office co-worker will be back next Wednesday. It's been nice to have my office all to myself. *sigh* so quiet and peaceful, very conductive to good paperwork.
We've hired 3 more people, more training, more shadowing, people being moved around. They have moved four people to our old conference room, ordered new desks and wall petitions to make 4 more cubicles. That leaves one of the men in an office alone. I wonder who will get stuck with him.... he is noisy and a huge distraction. he actually quieter now that he is alone, his office is adjacent to mine so quiet is GOOD.
Weather is good, got to get outside and get my "garden on".

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sunshine, managed to drill holes in the quilt racks, trying to decide if it’s too damp to go outside and get it done, walked around a little picking up branches, wet so no way I can burn..didn’t overdo, all of about a half hour twice since morning so no major cleanup, don’t know if black flies are out but few bites..just having lunch then go8ng to watch a movie.

Pat, sounds like working conditions are the best where you work..hard to focus with so much chatter and goings on..did you ever hear any more about boss writt8ng you up?

TV dinner ready off to eat and maybe a nap

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

No, and if they intended to write me up they should have by now. I had already taken the precaution of writing up the thing, saving as PDF and sending it to my office mate. I made a record of the whole time table etc and saved it so I could not be accused of altering any of the facts later. I'm just moving on.
Two years and 3 months and I'll be done there... if I make it that long! who knows, maybe I'll retire when I get to be eligible for Medicare, the health insurance is the biggest stumbling block for me. We'll see, trying not to worry about it and just continue my life of gardening and sewing, employment as needed...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, although they are calling for rain today it’s a lovely spring day..

Very smart of you Pat , no way would I have thought of doing that, smart lady you are. Now wouldn’t that be the life, the way time moves forward it will be here before you know it.

Greg droooed in, we are going to do Mother’s Day ‘to do’ week following mother’s day as Jeff is in Aruba and doesn’t get home til late Sunday and greg’s Workers are in the union and likely will be on strike as of last night so he will have enough problems of his own keeping up so a week Saturday it will be.

In the meantime Darlene said she would come and spend a few days helping me out in the garden, hate needing help...grrrrkniw I’m in no way having to have help, hired for large things but it does feel I’m losing a little of my independence..

Have the girls coming today, only a couple hours then hopefully if no rain I’ll pick a small area and work on it for an hour or so,,yep rest in between

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, my son has been helping us for years. Neither Todd or myself can what we could before, and we know it. Nothing wrong with asking for help.
Glad to see you posting again. We missed you.

Verona, ON

Good morning !

Woke to bright sunshine but like Betty rain is on it's way.

Betty I am in the same boat as you .... it is against my nature to ask for help. But I have found there are some things I can no longer do. I am thankful for the things that I can still accomplish. I've learned as LK said there is nothing wrong with asking for help.

Deb when is your next show ? How many hours a week do you spend grooming your dogs ?

It's the seventh anniversary of my guy leaving me. While it is an especially difficult day for me to get through the TH and I will have an extra walk.Plus on one of our walks we will tosh up to Warren's favourite spot on the farm.

Black flies started yesterday so by today they will be in full force. I will start wearing my Bug Hat and bug cover up. I found a bug jacket at a $$$ store and it is great.

Need to organize myself and get this day started.

Stay safe and well.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Dianne. Those anniversaries are never easy to get through. My Mom will be gone 13 years, day after Mothers day. Not and easy holiday to get through.

Lyndonville, NY

Good morning

Big hugs to Dianne and also Linda Kay. I never understood it all til lived it.Yes, I hate these anniversary dates also. Had one yesterday as diagnosis date anniversary for DDs cancer. I relive it every year on 4th and 5th of May. and again on Mothers Day. From now til June 20, it is a roller coaster of emotions with moms passing and all through that month the drama we faced.

BETTY! BESSIE LOU!!! STAY OUT OF THE PONDS. OK I told her this in messages on FB....and here. You think it will work? Ummm.....good luck.

Sunshine here but still a bit nippy.

Hugs to all and stay safe and healthy

Trying to read but have my hands full and trying to get Huck back on his feet.

Debbie

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I have had to give in to needing help and now it's EASY and I feel good about it. My youngest son's employment and family situation is always precarious and he always needs extra money. At least I can hire him and feel good about giving him money.
I do NOT want to be an enabler and just hand out money. Why would anyone even try to be responsible if money is easy to get without work?? I work hard for my money and believe others should too!!
My oldest son makes more money than me and less education, I was teasing him about it and he smiled and said "I have SKILLS"! LOL... and he's right. He does computer analysis work and employment/schedule forecasting. PERFECT job for him, he hates physical labor and is a miracle worker with computers and numbers, not much patience with people.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hugs Dianne and to all who are dealing with anniversaries, they are difficult..anniversa4y if my dads deth was last week.

Girls left at noon and I went outside and sat on patio stones with knife In hand and dug out the growth between the rocks, not too stressful lol

Reese came a few years ago she brought me a beautiful big rock that had a drill hole in the middle and I sat it in a side garden next to the rocks, plugged in the motor was so sure I took them out of all the ponds and water features but I didn’t, rate for all of about 15 minutes then it started to rain, somebody put a curse on me.

Young man in town who does work on Lawnmower’s came to pick up mine for servicing, didn’t work last year because the next-door neighbour decided to help me fix it and I don’t think he knew anything about lawnmowers so I’m thinking I might need a new one although this is only two years old I like the self propelled lawnmower to get in corners that I can’t with my big one.

Do you knew of someone that might do a days work and will check with him, he said I guess you want it done now don’t you with the nice weather being here, Yep, needed done now was my answer lol..It’s free he’ll have them call me. What a great job for someone in the area who needs to work, there are many like me who need help with Odd Jobs and I’m sure they’d be kept busy. All these construction guys want to do major work not just odd side jobs.

My kids would gladly help but Lordy with working, their family, and things they do to entertain ourselves I just hate to ask so I’ll just do what I can do that’s all and know that I can’t do it all in one day.

Trying to decide if I have enough energy now that I’ve had a bath and in my jammies to get dressed again and go into Midland to pick up a new pump, Groceries in Chinese food. I really should do that

Hi Sunny, rain, sunny and now it looks like it just might rain again so I guess that’s all for today on the outside

Forgot photos of Sharon’s dog show last week in Texas, think it was Austin Texas

She has three moving companies coming give her an estimate on moving your north, less than 100 miles but they want anywhere from 4500 to 6000

Nice wins for Sharon! Inuk is still winning, at his age! That's incredible! It takes a well bred dog to do that! Is the bitch his daughter? Very pretty dogs!

Can't believe the cost of moving companies! Wow!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Beautiful dogs.
Moving isn't cheap anymore.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Inuk and Paris are related but only by 6-7 generations
