Safe trip home!

Wish I was at you for Loretta's! I just loved that stop and still have my chickens I purchased there. Hope her health is better after the stroke also. Relaxing area.

Weather is good here right now but might get a rain later on.

Love all the pictures everyone has put up. Susan that looks like a great salad!

Enjoying time with my DS being here a few days.
Debbie

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

VERY impressive Karen! Great when someone has such creative talent and can make a living from it!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Susan made it home safe & sound, spent some quality time with her DS & DD on Sunday, and back to work today. DGrands went back to school today.
As Susan & her DS work at the same place, it's rare for her to spend time with him - they both work weekends, and have different shifts.
I did some painting of a bookshelf at the library tonight, now need to get the paint off!!!
And time for beddy-byes.........

Victoria Harbour, ON

afternoon everyone,

got in around 7pm last night then gabbed for mom for a few hours..today I'm trying to play catch up and get laundry done, seems lots to do when you go away and same when you come home.

ipad giving up, called this morning to made an appointment for Saturday morning in the city with apple, guess if they can't fix it then it's buying a new one, can't do without as laptop of so bulky.

Karen, you've a very talented daughter..takes after her mom for sure!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Welcome back, Betty! Yes, lots to do when you return!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Glad you are home safe & sound.

I GOT LIGHT!!! hubby & friend installed 4 banks of florescent lights in the family room/sewing room. so much brighter can't wait to get in there and sew! I can take out lots of the extra lights I put everywhere trying to light up that bat cave. they don't look so great, they are hanging shop lights on chains but they get the job done. I can worry some other day about "pretty".

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hooray, Pat! Light is a GOOD thing! :-)

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Good lighting is essential to good sewing and I'm so happy for you. It just doesn't matter what it looks like.
Finally, Norm has started to receive his unemployment benefits. I can't believe the company held it up for a month. They tried to investigate about company policy regarding accidents and being fired. There was no policy in place so the company just didn't respond. Finally unemployment decided in Norm's favor. It isn't a lot of money but will keep us going until he finds another job. So far nothing..... Now I need my nerves to settle down and I need to function again. I thank you all for bearing with me.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, looks like a rain day..

Barb, Glad things settled with unemployment, one less worry for awhile...next will come a job he enjoys, just takes time.

Pat so happy you have lighting, you will feel more like sewing now, take time for you and sew, it is what makes you happy!

Headache day for me..will lay back down and see if it leaves..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone.
Glad to hear you are back home Betty. Listen to your body, and get some rest.
Barb, glad to hear he finally got his checks. Praying he finds a job quickly.
Susan, glad to hear your friend made it back home safely.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Thank goodness Barb, that has to be a relief.

Good idea to rest a bit after that trip Betty.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Took something and headache seems to be leaving, hurrah!

Lindakay, is the weather at a more reasonable temperature for you..what is keeping you busy seeing you are housebound?

just washed all the upper floors, think I'll dust, fold a load of laundry then I'm caught up and can play.

Have a wedding at end of August, going for my nephew and brother, the bride is my nephew's daughter (out of wedlock) so I've never met her but mom, I and my sister got invitations so best I go..was thinking of doing a quilt/throw for her, something to keep me busy as I'd have no idea what to buy and I so hate giving $$$

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hurrah, Betty - glad your headache has settled down and is leaving!
A wedding - how lovely. I love going to weddings, but that hasn't happened for quite a few years for us. Enjoy! Is it really August already? oh how time flies
Barb - SO glad that the unemployment has been settled in his favour! Surprised they didn't have anything in place for it already - that's strange.

Today is the day to work on the Library. Have all the books catalogued and now when they come in I just have to check to see if they're ones that have, or haven't been catalogued. Today though, it's more a case of decorating - painting, laminating some posters and put them up as well as the signs for the book areas. I've printed up some pretty neat signage.
I'd like to wallpaper the backs of the bookcases too. I have some leftover wallpaper that should do nicely.

Barb we bare all here for you. I bet you and Norm gave a huge sigh of relief that Norm's UEI finally came through. If you need something let us know. I am a big believer in what goes around comes around.

Well I am battling another round of blistery rash on my face and left wrist. I think it might be poison Sumac. I finally Googled and saw some photos of poison ivy, sumac and oak. It looks like it should hurt but it is just very itchy. I rooted around and found a pair of my mom's "church" gloves. I'll wear them when I go to bed tonight - but I expect to see the TH wandering around with the gloves in their mouths.Had a wave of feeling when I found the gloves. Mom had church hats and gloves.and she kept every one of them. We got a new hat for Christmas and Easter.

Susan it sounds like you had a really good time with your friend.

How is your unpacking going ?

How is your girl's tail now Deb ?

Oh Judy I can see your smile all the way up here. More pics please.

Looks like rain so have to go out and bring in the lawn mower. Didn't want to cut the grass anyway.

Later
Dianne and her TH

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Dianne - so sorry to hear you're battling this rash on your face & hands. Are you putting any cream on it? I hope your TH don't slobber all over the gloves!
I remember getting new hat, gloves and a coat for Easter - a white boater, white gloves and a sky blue coat - felt like such a princess :-) Wonderful memories of your young church days, Dianne!

I'm off to the Library - need to make it pretty, now that it's functional!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sumacs can be nasty Dianne, here is hoping it's not that poisonous flower that looks a lot like wild carrot/queen ammsmlace..had some in my gardens, pulled it out hoping it wasn't the bad one, wasn't..

I too remember the new Easter outfit, church was a fashion plate at Easter, everyone in fancy garbs.

Is your construction project done?

I too need grass cut but it will have to wait until the weekend, don't have the energy, an excuse for sure, I'm just being lazy.

Susan, love the posters, I know you told me but I forgot, is the library the municipal library or is it omen your park?

Thought Judy would be back with more photo's of Lily..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear you have that nasty rash, I hope it goes away soon.

Betty, we don't do much in this heat, too hot to do anything outside, but jump in the pool to cool off.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning

Think I'll play in the craft room today, tired of being lazy..

What do you do inside to keep busy all day, day after day..must feel like a prisoner?

Maybe Deb is gone to a dog show?

Debbie, what are you up to, still in construction mode? Paul gone back to work?

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, the dining room is 90% done. He went back to work and now has this afternoon and tomorrow off for his cousins funeral.

DS is still here, driving to work from here and trying to find new living situation. The last house/apartment share was WAY to expensive. I have really enjoyed him being here. He has saved my sanity somewhat.

My dear aunt is in ICU in Virginia. Her family arrived there today to be with her, and I know I am not needed to get in the way. Just offering her prayers and all, she is like a Mom to me...was there day I was born. Just praying she pulls through, she has a new great granddaughter to love on for a bit....she hasn't seen her yet. Today will be first if they let her in ICU.

Waving to all....

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

The Library is a Community one, across the street from our Park, in the Arena.
Speaking of which, I left it in a terrible mess last night (too tired, and needed to come home), so I'd best go have breakfast then head out to the Library.
btw - it houses about 3k books (on the short side of that #) and we're getting more soon. We get about 50 each year, and they take away about 100! This year we're not wanting them to cull - we are, every time we see a damaged book, or a duplicate. There's just no room for duplicates, nor the need.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am going to start putting this together, I am going to make the points with bright batik fabrics, Not for sure what to do for the backing. Then I need to start on a Christmas quilt for my son and his family. My DIL has requested a green and red quilt, so I need to gather fabrics for that.

Prayers for your Aunt, difficult when you are not close to be near loved one when they are ill. Couldn't DS stay with you or is he too far from work, likely he is at an age that he wants to be on his own, here is hoping he can find a place not too far from you.

Is Paul a procrastinator or will he finish the other 10% of the reno right away and not leave it unfinished..are you pleased with the results.

Sorry to hear about Paul's cousin's death as well. Kyle dropped in for a visit, they are burying Charlie tomorrow..Noah's been staying with Jan since he died so it's giving her company. Melanie will spend the weekend in Meaford with her as well. Kyle has been listing some of his tools etc on craigslist for her, so glad the boys are helping out, they are young men now and know its a must.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sending prayers for your family Debbie. I hope she gets to see her Great Granddaughter.

Susan, sounds like you enjoy working at the library, getting it all sorted.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sending my prayers too Deb, It is so hard to be so far away. But I'm glad Shane is there with you.
Love the quilt LInda. That will be a fun one. I am doing a mystery quilt for my next granddaughter's high school graduation. It's going to be aqua and cream. She still has two years to go but I want it done and ready. Almost done with one for me and one for Sean's graduation too. He only has one more year to go! Then it's a break before the last two.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lindakay, that looks like a fun project and something you can use scraps for..yep, Christmas is coming, think I've enough stock, likely make a throw just to get into the mood lol

Nice when family members want the Quilts we make. Was thinking this year to make each of grandsons a non Christmas quilt.

Barb, hard to believe the kids are that old, Lordy remember them as tykes..glad you are feeling well enough to sew.

I just sewed binding on a wedding quilt and butterfly quilt that belongs to Sharon, tomorrow I'll work on something that belongs to me, maybe start something for end of august wedding.

Verona, ON

My prayers are on the way too Deb. Very happy Shane is there to comfort you Debbie.Plus I know he will cook up some great meals for you.

Don't believe I did this but I laid down to read around noon and didn't wake up until about 2:45. I only woke up because Duke stuck his face right onto mine as if to say "get up"

Woo hoo on the lights Pat.. Lighting can mean everything. It also reminds me I have several dozen table and swing lamps boxed away in 1 of the sheds. On the show circuit no one uses them now - fancy dancy ones are needed now. Hate to just toss them in the garbage though.

Too bad you live so far way Susan - I have hundreds of books boxed up to give away.

My rash seemed somewhat better when I got up this am but is very itchy now. Darn!!

LK are you still in 3 digits temp wise ? Is there even a cooling breeze ?

Sharon how are things in LV ?

The TH is fed and I think there is a watermelon out there calling Chaos and my name.

Duke and Chaos had quite the meeting with a snake in their yard. It was a teeny (about 18 in) black/rat snake. They poked it, smelled it and tried to get it to move. The TH knew they were beat so sat there just staring at it.

Sorry to hear about the passages of family members - at some point young people DO take responsibility. It's nice to hear about it.

Dianne - thanks for the kind offer, but we wouldn't have room for anymore books and we're getting 50 new ones anyway lol Our library is really a room, and with 6 bookcases and 4 spinners, plus the kitchen counter with sink and coffee area & the meeting table, we'd run out of space (did I mention that the spinners & bookcase bottoms are NOT used because people can't get that 'low'?).
Here's hoping that rash starts to improve - that itch would drive me wild!
Betty - you still make a quilt for each family member, each Christmas? WOW

Deb - prayers for you & yours

Time to get out to the garden - stuff needs to be harvested. I have green onions the size of double my fist - about the size of a large regular onion!
I may make some raspberry ice cream - have the whipping cream & the raspberries, I think........

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Dianne, yes we still have triple digits for heat, it was 102 this afternoon. We had a few days of short rain storms, and it was so humid. Not much of a breeze.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Don't know how you stand it LInda. I would be pulling my hair out with those temps.
Got the strips cut for the mystery quilt I am doing. Thank heaven for my friend Denise who was kind to come do it for me. Can't stand at the cutting table for more than two minutes at a time. She got all the strips cut so now I can do the sub cuts for the pieces.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning,

Looks like a sunshine day, should be out doing yard duty, we will see..habpve to make a trip to town at some point, need to drop of computer tower and see if it can be repaired, if not need a laptop, got to drop of janome 9000 for servicing, drop off gifts I picked up on my trip for Paul then to John and Darlene's, might drop in to see the elders, uncle Allan, aunt Exilda nad uncle Louis and there going Friday.

So susan, the library in your park? You will get to know everyone coming in for books in no time.

I'm with barb lindakay, those temps are too high for me..when do you start getting older temps? We have the feel of fall here, it's in the air!

Barb, great to have a sewing friend like Denise, now the fun part begins.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Our temps will start to drop maybe late September, October some time.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

It's cooling off here already, never did get that warm. Bummer Summer.
Having a sew day today. DGS has the kids. Tons to get done.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Paul BIL just came to get the cement bench I made for him with stained glass on top, he needed 2 friends to help lift it into the truck, I had Bourbon and rye for him..he saw my little trailer that I never used, said I was going to sell it so he bought it..hurrah, one last thing in the yard to worry about, so I can scratch him off my list of visits today...

Must phone the sewing repairman and see if he is home today so I can drop machine off..

Clouding over, looks like rain..like you Karen we haven't had much of a summer although with dealing with concussion, several weeks in out of hospital and roadtrip I haven't been outside much. Glad you are getting to sew today..I'm deciding what I can get out that I started that I can finish before starting something new..know I have a Halloween kit I was doing for Melanie, that might keep me going for a tad.

Well soon you will wear a sweater outside lindakay do you ever get to wear a sweater? Have you started your new quilt yet?

Must be lunch, am hungry

Victoria Harbour, ON

Day is getting lighter, called Maurice the sewing machine repair guy, asked me to call next week as his wife is in the hospital..before you know it I'll have nothing to do today lol

Dianne are you and the TH enjoying the new sunroom and chair? Great place to nap. How is your weather..saw muskoka got hit last week with tornado, lots of problems getting hyfpdro back up and running.

Lyndonville, NY

Thank you all for thoughts and prayers,
The update this morning is they MIGHT move my aunt from ICU.
it is so hard to be Sepsis.....and I know prayers and being able to hold her new
GGBaby are what helped do it. First time she has seen her and Ava Joy is now 5 months old!!! Will not stop praying til she is home safe. She has been fighting Ovarian cancer for 5 years now.

Betty that bench was beautiful. I know Paul will enjoy it.

Be back Shane brought lunch.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

No, library is in the hamlet, not our Park. Park only has 28 lots - would be a tiny library indeed if it were. The Library is in the Arena, just across the street from the Park, so it's only 3 minutes walk from me :-D
I got some supplies from the lady (Una) who organized having the Library and the one who asked me to take over. Hooray - paint & laminated sheets, etc!!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Debbie .. good news, or, at least promising re your Aunt Mary .. I can well imagine that seeing Ava made her will a bit stronger ..
Sepsis is a horrible and insidious culprit .. my prayers continue.

Barb, Denise is a wonderful friend, I hope the quilt turns out beautifully .. how's the Kitter Puss coming along ?

LK .. best you're used to those temps .. I would melt ..
I wonder like Betty, do you ever have need of a sweater there ..?

Karen .. we certainly had a 'fallish ' morning, it was 50F, the back aluminum door fogged up !! HURRAY re your ability to have a sewing day .. how is Amelia doing with precious Loreli ??

Betty, the bench is freakin well gorgeous .. it'll outlive all of us .. a family treasure for sure.

Susan .. enjoy your booking around .. books will never go extinct ..

Dianne .. my wee crew has the itchies :-( basically the 2 gurls .. .. I don't like to take their collars off, but, for the sake of a nights sleep I may have to .. nothing worse than being in a dead sleep and one of them starts scratching .. ahh well, if it's itchy, scratch it I guess.

Sharon, how be you and your dear Vern, and, of course the pups and kitties .. oh .. and the owl(s).

Toodles

~M~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

LOL! I do wear a sweater for a few months, usually December and January, but I don't own a coat, as it doesn't get that cold long enough to buy one.

Debbie, please know we are keeping your Aunt in our prayers.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I have several piles of blocks all made so when I get some sewing time like today I can get a quilt top together.
