Books won't become extinct and apparently neither will vinyl records! I saw a record store, with all the old records - remastered. And of course they are selling record players again - 45/33 1/3 & 78's!!!
Most of those I've met at the Library are those who come for crafting. Only have seen 2 men come in. Unless you count those who come for evening meetings (the Board for the Arena). I'm not part of their meetings, so I see them, but don't know them.

Betty - did I miss the picture of the bench? It sounds fabulous!
Deb - hope your aunt is doing better. Keeping her in my prayers. I'd never heard of sepsis.
I remember temps in Winnipeg of 104..... not easy to sleep in those temps! LK - I sure hope you have an ac so you can sleep!

Morning,
In the city, waiting to meet up with Sharon and give her her 2 Quilts, it's 67F and overcast, looked like rain when I left at 7am.

Got all my to do's done yesterday, was nice seeing my aunt and uncle's and got the computer tower fixed for $45, now to hook it up, I'm so useless with electronics, should have marked the cords.

Now if they can repair my iPad I'll be a happy camper, appt is at 9am with apple representative, would hate having to buy a new one.

Want to hit a few fabric shops

Pooh here is sharon,gab later

Home from Ohio, had a dog show yesterday, picked up Bonnie from her handler. One adult dog and three puppies with one person is too much! Spent more time rearranging dogs than anything. Had thought about staying one more night, but one night was enough! Poor Charlotte with the amputated tail still has her e collar on, and was having trouble fitting between beds and crates, and was just generally unhappy with the situation. Bonnie was unsure of the pups since she had never been with babies before, but she did OK. Glad to be home, though!

Glad your Aunt is improving, Debbie.

Deb

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty, most of the hook-ups on the back of the computer are different so will only go in the right place. The ones I mess up are the speakers, I just keep changing them until i get sound.
Another sewing day today.

Verona, ON

LOL Karen that is my plan of attack when faced with all those cords. One time I labelled them so I would know what went where. Didn't help. I just figure there is a certain way and I just keep on changing the cords eventually I will get it right.

Fall day here - cool and cloudy. Really loud T and L last night. Some actually felt the house was shaking. Chaos could care less but it got Duke's and Diesel's attention.

Duke and Chaos got all excited this morning - the baby snake was back to give them a visit. After a couple of pokes the TH just stood there and watched..

Deb do you use a flex collar or 1 of the rigid cones ? When Diesel had a growth removed on his front leg I broke down and bought a flex collar. It worked like magic for him. Poor little girl...

Dianne and her TH

Victoria Harbour, ON

Back home, productive day

Dianne haven't seen the flex collars, had a fought time with Ziggy and the hard plastic one.yikes on the snake..shivers down my arms just thinking about it!

Karen, hope that is the case re wires..how is your sewing going? Drats skitter followed me in, wants a bite, can you hear it buzzing lol

Deb with the dogs being of large size that would be a handful..how did you do at the show? Always nice to be home..was the show some distance? Glad Bonnie decided to enjoy the pups.

Debbie, how wonderful your aunt is doing better and that she got to hold her granddaughter, that's itself will give her a boost.

Susan it's a duplicate of this..I still have another bench poured but without the stained glass, might get the kids to set it near the arch so it has a home

Got my iPad repaired, $50.80, was happy with that. Dropped into Canadian tire and bought a battery trimmerth 2 batteries, hoping it's a lot lighter than the gas one. Thought I'd give it a whirl today but I was about 5 miles from home and there was a downpour so won't be today. Did hit 2 fabric shops and picked up a few things and registered for a quilt that you pick up kits 6 times, really nice, starts in November..not sure about the winter months but I'm sure they can mail them outf I can't get there.

Dang bought some fabric on a destashing sale site to use as a backing. Find it has a stain. Bummer doesn't want to come out. Siiiigh, look for more backing. Usually what I get from that site is nice, didn't check it over when I got it so my own dumb. Try to save as much as I can on fabrics.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - that is gorgeous! No wonder he had to have help lifting it onto the truck!
I have a cat collar & lead - the collar has soft plush stuff on it, and the lead is blue plastic (the plush stuff is about 1 1/2" thick - very nice). If you want it, I can send it to you.

Verona, ON

Betty I got the flex collar from Amazon. It has velcro pieces so you can make it as large or small as you like. I knew Diesel would go ballistic with the hard e collar.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Had the flexible collar first, but with her long head and neck, we needed to use the hard collar, otherwise she could manage to reach her tail.
Only showed the puppies in a 4-6 month class, my boy was Best of Opposite Sex, Best of Breed puppy was a girl. I think he won by default, he was the only boy! But it was a good experience for them. Primarily went to pick up Bonnie, saved me having to go to Florida to pick her up. The show was near Cleveland Ohio, so about 350 miles. Pups did good on the drive.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, calling for sunshine and high of 75 today, good day to get caipught up with yard duty.

Deb, more points for them, that is good even if by default. That was a long drive but worth it having Bonnie back.

Dianne, will look for one should I ever need one for Ziggy again.

Thanks for the offer Susan but I have no need for harness.

Karen can you use it for smaller Quilts, bet you were ready to quilt and now you are at a standstill..never heard of a site like that, not cheap buying backing, sure would help.

Fabriclamd has 1/2 price on a cut of fabric today and tomorrow, want some 108" fabric but don't want to go to barrie today, maybe tomorrow..great to have the wide gabric for backs and I've about 5 Quilts that need quilting.

Need to put the weefpder together so I can use it, not sure how, might have to bring it todarlene's John to help me out. Find I'm gettuping worse at figuring out instructions..

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Site I use most often is called Sewits For Sale. Almost all of what I have bought has been in like new shape and a good bargain. A couple of the sellers also give me a nice discount for QOV fabric. Some are peoples own stashes, some are from fabric shops that have closed. BUT some are fabrics people have bought at estate sales and condition can be iffy. My fault for not opening and examining right away so I could return it. Seller should have been a bit more honest too. Lucked out and was able to remove the stain. Will be smarter about it next time.

Verona, ON

Good Morning everyone !!

Stellar day out there. But the TH doesn't want to stay out unless I am with them. I keep a chair out in their new enclosure for that reason. Once I sat in it earlier this morning I realized why they don't want to stay out there. There are a gazillion skeeters out. I looked down and my legs were just covered with them.Tried out the front but the same thing there. I've been watching for ticks but haven't really seen them but skeeters when they come inside. Not 1 or 2 per dog but at least 10 -12. Duke gets his chance to go out in the new room this morning. Sure hope he behaves and doesn't try to jump after a squirrel.

Sharon I hope you can hear me... your SLEEP ANGELS found me last night.. I am so ever grateful. Hope things are going well with you and Vern.

Barb I am sitting here listening to Ed Sheeran.

Oh Deb you must be proud of your pups. Don't tell your male pup he won as he was the only in his category. I thought you would have the flex collar. Diesel is a German Rotti so he has a thick neck and a block head Quite the handsome dude..

Betty I am just like you when it comes to putting things together. Warren always brought things to me to put together but now I find the instructions hard to follow. Sometimes I go to U tube. There is usually 1 or 2 posts there of what you are trying to do. The only problem is the people often don't speak English so you have to watch closely what they are doing.

Karen do you have your place listed this summer ? There are several waterfront places here but the boon has gone. Years ago we thought we had a portion sold - 2 docs from BC were going to buy our lot plus the local medical center in the village. That is when the boon really hit in the 90's. Everything was in place except they had to sell their house in BC. The week that the docs were here sales of properties in BC ground to a halt.

Later,
Dianne and her TH

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We just listed again Dianne. There is a young man who keeps insisting he wants to buy but doesn't talk to us unless we message him and then he repeats his interest. Says he has the financing but .....So we went ahead and excepted him for 10 days. Told him that but as usual no response. I so don't want to spend another winter here. Sales have been fairly good here so maybe this time.

Verona, ON

Oh Karen that is an awful position for you and your DH to be in.I hope you have a lawyer to check out whether he actually does have the financing.I'd be checking out thoroughly about this guy. Just doesn't sit well with me.

I so understand you not wanting to spend another winter where you are.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, never think of utube, brought it to John and he put it tipogether in secs..I thought 'dah' why did I think it was hard. Got all grass cut, battery trimmer works ok, not like my gas one but will have to do when I can't start the gas one..used up 2 batteries of course the trimming hadntbeendone since jeff did it when I was in the hospital so it was longamd wet, cantblame the batteries. I so need to get out and week and cut down spent flowers but skitters as you say are out in masses, besides I need a break..was going to put the rider away but want to clean it before I do..soon time for a new one.

Karen, know how you hate winters up there but keep thinking of all the family who come and enjoy the lake, how much they will miss it...won't be the same as grandma/grandpa's meeting place..am sure they agree though, time to move on.

That site sounds interesting, will have to check it out.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Ladies, if you have a bad skeeter problem, yuck a few dryer sheets in your pockets, or top of shirt, waistband. It is supposed to work good for repelling them.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Heard that but never tried, must tmr.
Already in bed, backside hurting like crazy, hoping there is a good movie on

Verona, ON

LK that doesn't work around here. Not just me everybody is being bit up.I have 1 of those mosquito pack run by a battery. It hooks onto onto your belt or waist band.. Yet when I had the Mustang I would put dryer sheets all over the inside of the car while it was put up for the winter.. It was to keep mice away. The bugs are so bad here everyone is talking about it no matter what store you go into the village. I had a chuckle yesterday when I was at Foodland. One of the older gents who farm around here was in the store. I asked him about his tan.... I have always teased him about his farmer's tan. His reply "too many damn skeeters"

Betty I love the battery operated weed whacker I have.. You are right it doesn't do the job of the gas powered but at least I don't have to start. it.Plus it is not as heavy to cart around. I really like my battery powered chain saw.

Betty what is the machine that Greg and Mel have ? The 3 wheeled one... I think is called a Spyder.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I saw a lot of Spyders out today, some in groups, some by themselves, on my way to church. I wonder if there's some kind of Spyder group thing going on? I don't usually see any, but I saw about 7 or 8 today

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yes, they are spiders, big thing around here, they have group rides, greg is in charge of a large group, they even go away weekends so likely same in your area,

I think I'll like it Dianne now that I can keep it up, yard looks so nice when it's all trimmed as well.

Skitters should soon die off shouldn't they?

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I had NO idea how lucky I am!! We have a mosquito control group that is run by the different counties and they spray to kill them off. Plus, they really work to educate the public to do their part of not having standing water like in old tires and other breeding place. That is why I broke down and bought gold fish to make sure my little pond was not a breeding ground for the nasties! During the day here, we don't have any problems with the skeeters and no where near what you have in our evenings. They sell bug spray repellent, is that not common in your areas? Or are you reluctant to use it because of the chemicals?

Our air quality has been so bad with the smoke from fires, near & far. Yesterday we had brisk wind and first clear blue day.

Still sewing doll clothes like crazy. I am really enjoying the new set up in my sewing area, the lighting and more accessible storage. It was too bad I had to take out the long flat desk drawer over the leg opening but I am sure grateful for the "right height" to sew on. I could never have kept the drawer and lowered the desk. I couldnt' have gotten my legs under the drawer!

I'm going to go buy more lights so we can install more in garage and the gaming area in the family room light is defective so it needs to be exchanged. Getting rid of the loveseat and moving the guys to that area of the family room for gaming was a gamble that paid off. My living room looks nice (without that banquet table with games/ miniatures in process of being painted/ other flotsam & jetsam that accumulates on any flat surface in this house!).

I have a recliner tentatively picked out but until I am certain whether Dad is coming here for a bit or not, I am NOT buying anything additional to put in the living room. Living room is where I would set up dad's hospital bed, his recliner etc so .....

My sister's knee has been slow healing and I worry about her. I know having Dad in the AFH is weighing on her mind.
Hugs to all,
Pat

Verona, ON

Pat they do sell bug spray but there are so many skeeters they don't work well..Lots of families are having bonfires at night just to try and keep the bugs away.

The TH and I came in around noon - they were exhausted so fell right to sleep. Me.... I want to have a nap but if I give in I will be up watching News for the Insominacs(sp??) You would think since I was one I should be able to spell it.

Trying to find a new spot to stack my wood near the house for winter is challenging.
I think the 1 area where I have flowers will do. I have to be careful what I plant there and when because that is the area where the snappers lay their eggs.

Stay safe and well.
Dianne and her TH

Pat - I hope your sister's knee heals well. I understand your worry, and will pray for her.
I hear you on the smoke. Last night we had so much smoke we could hardly see the trees a block away!

Today we're going to the Library to hang some signs from the ceiling :-)

Blessings to all here, and hugs & prayer to all as well

Sharon came to sew today but left at 2, early for her..since then I've been a couch potatoe. Feeling bad for my friend Dianne, her husband Paul just found out he has cancer throughout and it's terminal..tried to find words to ease her pain but had trouble finding them, maybe more of whtcan you say that will help.

Pat, great you are enjoying your new sewing area and lighting is making the difference. Sorry to hear your sister isn't healing as well as she should, worrying about your dad and knowing you have so much on your plate isn't helping..be sure in all of this you look after yourself.

Dianne, do you already have your wood for the winter? Will you be able to use your new area come winter? Nothing like a wood stove..I have to contend with electric fireplaces, better than nothing. Yep, bug spray works but not with the masses of mosquito's we have.

Keep looking at the clock wondering is it bed time yet? Lol
Wouldn't take me much to get comfy in bed and watch tv from there.
Should get some knitting out to keep me awake

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - must be a very difficult time for Dianne and to find words to ease her worry & pain...... I can understand that would be tough for you, too.
Please know that my prayers join yours, for her & Paul

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sending prayers also.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

And mine as well for Dianne and Paul.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, suppose to be 73 today and sunny...

Thanks for prayers for Dianne and Paul, hard times are coming.

Girls are coming at 9am, haven't seen them in a few weeks so there will be a lot of chatting going on and little sewing.

Did garbage to curb and looked at front flower garden, sure needs a lot of work so maybe I'll spend the afternoon attaching the overgrowth and contemplating going to Barrie as Fabricland sale ends today and I need backing.

Had a nice visit with greg last night, he has little time on his hands after being away from work fir 3 weeks, with Charlie's death and vacation work has piled up so for him to take an hour to visit was greatly appreciated.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Quick hello this lovely morning..

You all went MIA yesterday, hope it's only because it was a sunshine day and not because of health or other issues.

Sunshine day here, high of 76, see rain for the weekend though..terrible for those working and wanting sunshine.

I go for eats tonight with the Battens, elderly couple I do meals with every month, haven't seen them for 2 so hopinghey fared well this summer.Don has Alzheimer's and the lastime he was here he spoke but a few words.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Enjoy your dinner.
I have my 2 grandsons here till Friday, so they keep me busy.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Not MIA, I was just reading and not posting. I was being Negative Nelda here so didn't want to poison the thread! LOL Nothing terribly wrong, just me being crabby and resentful. I'll get over it.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I was at sewing day at the VFW. Always fun to sew with a roomful.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Good to see you posting, Pat!
Tomorrow is the 1 yr anniversary of us moving here - hooray!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad to see you got out Karen, am sure you came back rejuvenated.

Susan, 1 year already, doesn't seem possible.

Sorry to hear you were having a bad day Pat, it's ok to have some of those..hope today is a better day for you.

Ohh lindakay, know how much you love having the grandsons with you, what do you have planned to entertain them.

I had a bit of an experience that had me crying most of the day..this morning I picked myself up and said 'enough'

You know how I'm always bragging about the bakery next door that makes daily meals and I'm taking advantage of them almost daily? Well yesterday I went in the store to buy lunch which would also do me for supper..the Greek owner came up to me and said 'I don't want you in my store anymore' I said 'pardon?' Thought he was joking but he wasn't. In shock I asked why, he said that he had been getting calls from building inspector and he told him his neighbor was complaining, then he said several visits from health department..i was agog! I've said nothing but nice things about his store, encourage people to go there, he keeps his property nice, not like my other neighbor, anyway he said by-law officer said it was me , me who let him have water from my property for months while he was in construction, me who lent him tools, me who helped cut design in wood for his pillars..i came home in tears, called municipality right away, got answering machine. This morning bylaw officer called and said he explained to him it was the fire dept guy who saw something and called it in..he promised he would go and speak with the owner and explain t certainly wasn't me. Doubtful he's the type of guy to apologize but even if he did I won't be going into his store..a loss for both of us.

This morning I'm telling myself I know I'm a good person and didn't do such a thing and try to get over the embarrassment.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

I'm so sorry, Betty. What an awful experience. Hoping the officer does explain to him that it wasn't you, and that he does apologize for his horrid behavior. With all you've done to help him, he should have realized it wasn't you!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

OH MY! That is horrible Betty. I do hope you get an apology.

We have a skateboard park next to the creek that goes through town, so we have been there several times, and when they get hot, they jump in the creek.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Awww so sorry Betty, he surely owes you an apology and free lunch at least. What a stinker. He might have made sure of his facts first.
