Betty we have bad weather warnings all over. And as of 2:00 are saying 60 mph winds until 8:00 or 9:00 tonight.

I have a turkey in the oven. Making full diner for "out laws" tonight.
It is 80* at 9:00 this morning.....going to be a hot one with oven on and even AC
full.

Victoria Harbour, ON

It was so black out earlier one would have thought it was night time, little storm blew through, looks like more rain though..hope it bypasses you Debbie.

Lordy you are making me hungry Debbie, what I wouldn't give for a turkey dinner, hmmm perhaps this weekend.

Pat finished her fall door hanger and we've decided to make a fall table topper, got to use up some fabrics in my stash..fall leaves, feel like it's coming.

Lyndonville, NY

It is darker out here now....than it was for the eclipse yesterday.
I didn't see much of any change with the sun/moon.

Verona, ON

Same here Betty and Debbie. Sheets of rain and lots of T and L. The wind has really kicked up too.

Oh Debbie you get to smell a turkey cooking. Yum !!

Lyndonville, NY

Just got warnings we are under tornado watch until 9:00 p.m.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Be safe Debbie.

Lyndonville, NY

Dianne is too! All the way up into Canada from Kingston to the East.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Be careful, inclement weather all around...hope no power loss while you are cooking Debbie.

Lyndonville, NY

I am lucky, I have a gas stove. I can light it with lighter or match. If electric stove at the outlaws....no chance. SO cooking all here and transporting.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - no hot tub usage. We were told in May that if we used it, it would be a $50 cost Per Month, because of the water, so now we have to get rid of our hot tub. No one's wanting to buy it and we had gotten a new lid too. siiiigh
Pat - we put skirting around the main part of our home within 6 weeks of moving here, as required. The skirting I'm referring to doing is around the addition. Bob even went under the back deck and skirted the underside of our addition on That side. He's outside now, prepping to paint the plywood skirting on the addition (that can be seen). Then he'll paint the top of the wall below the roof. I think I can do it, but he doesn't think so. It's only 14ft by (at most) 3ft tall. It's one of those sloped mobile roofs, so the outside edges are only 1 1/2 ft tall. If I can paint a 24ft x 8ft wall, and wallpaper the same size plus more, surely I can paint this little bit...... he doesn't like me being up on the ladder lol

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

YUM - turkey! reminds me - need to make turkey soup from the carcass from our "Christmas" dinner Aug 3rd. It's in the freezer.
And it's time to make lunch - I'm hungry now - thanks a lot, Debbie LOL Guess it's time to have lunch anyway, it's after lunchtime lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, rainy day here with a high of 68,say for upcoming week no rain so let's hope..Hope Dianne and Debbie didn't get hit too hard.

Kyle picked this week as vacation to go camping, not the best for he and Brianna but they are enjoying their new camper.

Laundry done and put away, will do floors in a bit then its play time..

Debbie did all get cooked? It was all for Paul's dad's house wasn't it? Hope you kept a meal or two for you..will look for turkey next time I'm in town..

Can't believe a year has passed since I had the chairlift put in, Acorn Chairlift came yesterday and serviced it as one year warrantee is now off..hasn't been used much but it's there should I need to.

Would be nice if you are all enjoying a sunshine day and doing something you enjoy.

What project shall I take on???

Verona, ON

Good afternoon everyone.

It is darker outside right now than yesterday. We had some very heavy rain this morning too. I have to have a light on to read and it is just after noon.

Betty I am glad you got the chairlift. I wrestled with that idea for awhile. Decided if I was going to put 1 in it should be outside down to the lake. Stairs were pressure washed down to the lake plus I had them put railings on both side of the stairs down to the lake. One year at Cottage Life the guy beside us was selling the lifts for both inside and.the outside the cottages.

Debbie I hope you saved some of that food yourself. Nothing beats the next day's turkey sandwich. Since you are considered NOT family it was very kind of you to even cook the dinner..

Susan when my parents lived in a Senior's Building they had to pay $50.00 a month extra for each room AC they had. I don't know how mom did it but she hid 1 of the window ACs . They used it during the winter/spring,fall months. Even with oxygen dad needed it some days in order to be comfortable.

Judy I hope you can find a minute and post some more pics of the baby. We all want to see them. Last night I opened a book and there was 1 of those bookmarks you sent me. Made me smile.

Fain has just kicked up again so I better get some windows closed.
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

We keep getting heavy diwnpours but doesn't last for long Dianne..we must be under same weather mass.

You've a lot of stairs to the lake Dianne? Glad you at least have rails to help navigate them.

Just got back from getting another perm/hair cut (last perm didn't last long-think due to meds) dropped into foodland for chicken dinner and coffee treats.

Been watching Godfather all day, think it's time to find something more interesting.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Dianne - that's a lot of $$ for a senior couple to kick in, for *each* ac? Wow - glad she hid one lol

Verona, ON

LK are you out of Storm's way ? Sure hope so ..... it sounds like it is going to hit land later today.

Noticed last night that it is dark by 8:00. Oh my the days are getting shorter.

Barb how are you and Norm doing ?

Susan that really is a steep price for the AC. You can't tell me that each ac unit burns $50 of power each month.

Yes Betty I do have stairs down to the lake. It is great having the railings in place.. The last few steps are very steep. We moved the dock up here from a fairly level spot as I refused to walk under the black/rat snakes hanging out of the trees. I will put some shingles on the very steep steps. It really helps one keep their balance.

So Debbie I spent the whole evening smelling turkey. Yum.!! Now I am going to check out turkey breasts at Foodland so I too can have the aroma of cooking turkey in my house.

I so need a haircut. Maybe when I go the next village to get my Rx I will stop to see if 1 of the ladies has an opening this morning....

The TH are marveling at the snake in their yard - it is just a bitty one but I guess they think they are protecting me.

Sharon how are you and Vern doing ? Will this storm arriving today (or so the Weather Liars say ) hit you ?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

We are not in the path of that storm Harvey, the those on the coast will be getting up to 20 inches of rain, and tornadoes. It looks bad for them.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon everyone,

Imagine, I've the heat on, high ogpf 63 here today buts its cold and damp in the house so want to get toasty..that time of year we aren't sure what to wear..best I get sweaters out amd fall clothing.

Glad lindakay you are out of harms way, looked at weather and seemed its going to hit New Orleans area and east coast of Texas, best you allkeepan eye on the storm...have you ever been flooded?

Omg Dianne you are braver with regards to snakes..big time yuk

Foodland here doesn't often have turkeybreast other than around thanksgiving/Christmas..will look for a frozen pre stuffed one, maybe it's time I have greg andmelover for supper...I mostly like the leftovers.

Aline and Suzanne are suppose to drop in, that ought to pass the day.
Called Dianne, Paul had a difficult week last week with chemo so specialist said there was new meds out so they will trythat..Dianne is holding her own trying to be brave for Paul.

That is about it for me,nothing too exciting, sometimes that is a good thing, othertimes not.

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, it is chilly here too! Can you believe I put socks on! I hate anything
on my feet and am a barefoot girl....so for me to put on socks in August!
Last night I got the plug for my little couch throw blanket to get the chill out.

Making a turkey casserole from leftover tonight. Diced turkey, can cream of chicken soup, small container sour cream, you can add veggies or mushrooms if you want.....I don't usually. AND top with the left over stuffing on top (or mashed taters) Bake it at 350 for about 30 minutes til bubbly. Will have left over green bean casserole on the side.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie you are making me so hungry..mouth watering..think you best come and visit so you can cook up a storm for me lol

Amen in the socks lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

WOW! Hard to believe you have to turn the heat on.
The storm Harvey has been upgraded to a cat 3 storm. News says once it hits land it will stall, and dump up to 20 inches of rain. Houston area floods all the time. Here we had a flood back in 1998, we had a foot of rain over night, and our clay soil does not soak it in too fast.
Praying it does not rain that much, or produce tornadoes.

Keeping Paul and family in pour prayers.

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, is this Paul your BIL we went to house? Or another Paul?

Verona, ON

Chilly here too.

Debbie I know it is chilly when both you and I are wearing socks. It's colder inside than out. Took a good look at my soles and I sure didn't soak them enough before I went to bed every night.

Had to go get an Rx this morning so off I go. Needed some heat in the Escape. From AC to heat in just 1 day.

Leftovers are my favourite part of a turkey meal. I have a recipe for a turkey loaf that includes using up leftover dressing. Oh my !!!

The TH have been quite calm... like over calm. Diesel and Duke were supposed to show signs of being overly tired when their diagnosis came in showing lyme.

LK so glad you are not in the line of fire.

On the News for Insomniacs they had several clips of people getting out early. Wonder if Sharon is ok? I need to get a map of the US so I can track these storms.I have a terrible sense of where people are geography. Debbie I know as we wave often over the lake. I am in like the apex of Debbie's and Betty's weather.
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Here is hoping you don't get much rain then LindaKay, having had a flood I worry anpbout possibility you all having one.

Debbie, no it's my girlfriend I always painted and went to seminars with, her hubby..sad state of affairs!

So you have meds to give the TH Dianne for lyme? Better when they are indoors for most of the winter.

Will enjoy my heated car seats this winter...hear they say not too much cold just extremely cold..like it that way..been thinking about Andrew my plowman, he is in Toronto hospital under treatment for bone marrow and new meds, likely I'll have to get his brother to do my yard this year. Cancer cancer cancer, all you hear these days, getting worse it seems, with all brilliant minds in the world you would have thought they would have an answer to beat it.

Verona, ON

The meds were from the year they were on them(2016/17). In the end after over $3000.00 in meds that ended up doing nothing of note. I was going to say to the vet in April no more pills but she surprised me There is a new vaccine out for lyme so for both around $300.00 they are covered for a year.

I need someone to disconnect the Amazon button on my computer.. I've tried to convince myself that I am stocking up on books for the winter. lol

Sending positive thoughts and prayers for Andrew. When I was at PMH there was a fellow whose had a weird kind of cancer. They couldn't find the primary cancer because the cancer he had would keep morphing different types of cancer.
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

That is a big difference from $3,000 to $300..here is hoping needles work.
Justmultiplyhowmany books you read a week by number of inhouse weeks, perhaps you've a lot more to order.

Was hearing onnews that Ottawa is now the most dangerous city in Canada re crime, should go see where toronto is on the list..think winnipeg came 2nd Dianne.

Andrew is just a young man with young children, so hope the bone marrow helps

Bored, should go do something..need new dress shoes in black for Saturday wedding, could go shoe shopping but think I'll do that when grocery shopping tomorrow.

Both Suzanne and Aline wh were tohave visited didn't make it yet, hope itsnot anevening visit lol

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - Winnipeg used to be #1 for car thefts, in Canada. Seems that the communities and small towns around here are getting hit with car thefts - either the car, or parts (like license plates.....) accessibility is the key (pun intended).

Verona, ON

We used to do a show in Winnipeg. Warren mentioned each year when he got home that security was really beefed up in comparison to Toronto or Ottawa.

Barb how are doing ?

OK need to go make a tomato sandwich. Yum.
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Omg you travelled that far to do stained glass show Dianne?
Think all major cities are much alike.

Not patting Canadians on the back but noticing more and more how kinder we seem to be getting out in general public..apologetic, helpful or is it just me?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Cold here last night, I was bundled in my blanket and the furnace came on but I still kept waking up cold. We are having an open house Sat. Hope someone just comes and scoops it up....A girl can dream can't she?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - Susan told me when she got home how nice & kind & polite Canadians are, and how rude people are around where she lives (Atlanta GA). She really wants to come back to visit, but if she does 3 wk vacation at once, she'll have to wait until next Summer. As Bob said it's much cheaper, for air fare, to come once in the year.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sending prayers forall in need and special ones for those in Texas.
Norm and I are doing okay. We got help from Dept of Health & Human Services only to have it stopped when Norm started to get his unemployment. But we will be okay.
I have decided I'm not going to pay another medical bill until he gets a job. I figure housing, utilities and food come first. Followed by gas for the car so he can get to interviews. Anything else can wait.
I am so grateful I bought all I would need to do Norm's cat way back last year. It is the one thing that is keeping me focused right now. I did finish the quilt top for my bed but won't spend the money on having it quilted yet. I may just try to hand quilt it. We'll see.
Thanking you all for your prayers and kind thoughts - very much appreciated.

Morning all,

Susan, you enjoy Susan's visits but they are short, 3 weeks would be grand.

Lindakay, keep checking weather updates, keep safe

Barb sorry to hear that things haven't improved, wish there was some recourse re the firing of Norm due to accident, just isn't fair.

Lazy kind of day, still laying on he couch..

Sunshine day, high of 68 but with the wind it feels much colder.

Mom is coming this afternoon as we have a wedding tomorrow so will go in search of shoes and out for supper, fill in the evening.

Best I get a move on or rather move off this couch... see the crab tree is hanging heavy with apples, maybe I'll fill again and make applesauce for Ruby's applesauce cake, you knew Ruby passed on right?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Found out one of our new neighbour's names - Linda lol have to lol cuz our property mgr's names are Bill & Linda, and neighbours that moved from same Park are Garth & Linda lol I forget what his name is, but not Bill or Garth thank goodness lol
As it is, when Susan visits, there are 2 Susans lol
And only 26 homes at the moment in the Park - room for 2 more (Like the name Linda - means Pretty Girl - but think we have enough here, doncha think?).

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Keeping you in our prayers Barb.
Susan, funny how so many in a close area can have the same name.
Betty, enjoy your night with your Mom.
Our news said if this storm hits like they are predicting, some areas may be without power for up to 3 weeks.
Please say your prayers that it does not hit as hard as they think it will.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Linda so hopingthey downgrade the storm, imagine being without power for that length..are you seeing signs of the storm near you?

Just got back from town, had Chinese after shopping..bought myself a casual outfit (3/4" sleeves) as temps are cooler..nobody told me I might have to mortgage my house to buy dressier shoes..been years since I bought a pair so was shocked at the prices.

Just got Jammie's on, tired

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan you will have to say Bill's Linda or Garth's Linda lol
