Thanks everyone, don't think he is the type to apologize..just have to not let it get the best of me!

Havent done much today, watching news, clock watching for going out, almost hoped they would have cancelled it.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - that's terrible! I thought the building inspectors weren't to say who filed a report anyway? You've been so supportive of him here, and obviously there (lending tools, allowing him water, etc) that he should have realized it wasn't you!
So sorry that you've lost the convenience of the bakery. I agree, most men from that part of the world wouldn't apologize, much less to a woman, so if I were you I wouldn't tie myself up in knots waiting - just let it be and find somewhere else to go. Don't waste your tears on someone that will attack you that way.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Went to Red Hatters luncheon today and really enjoyed the company & food - it was in the Innisfail Golf & Country Club. Afterwards Pat drove the other ladies to where they wanted to go, and she & I went to Joan's for tea. Joan also sells her raspberries - yum! I got 2 quarts of them, for $10. Joan also gave each of us a tomato fresh from the garden.

Morning all,

Sunshine day with nice breeze, turned off a/c and will enjoy the breeze.

Had a lovely meal with Batten's and friends last night, poor Don is failing even more, sleeps away most of the day and fights for thoughts the rest of the time.

Susan, sounds like you had a wonderful day, showing you have settled within the community.

Just had breakfast, housework done so must e something other than lay on the couch..maybe if I work on a project downstairs I'll be more apt to get my mo jo working.

Debbie, how are you doing today, know you are hurting..hugs

Waving to all others

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Oh my Debbie .. HUGE hugs re Dexter .. such a deep seated pain to the heart .. but, thank heavens for your humanity in allowing him to go on a journey that will see him healthy and well as he awaits your arrival ... many years from now.
Smokey has never left my kitchen, I see him almost everyday, and, after 18 months, I can now smile when I catch his shadow moving along the counter top getting down before I spot him ..
So so sorry for your loss

Just started to rain

Playing with Halloween cut outs, passing my day

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning everyone, no need for a/c, high of 68 and rain moving in this afternoon, everything feels we due to humidity..uggg

Today...... I am getting rid of boxes from unpacking. Now that we're in our den, we can unpack stuff like china (my teacup collection) and other stuff. It's a good feeling. And, as my surgery is coming up, we need to have more & more stuff out of the way.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I got the boys up this morning, got them washed and fed. Got the car packed up and met my ex daughter in law about an hour from here. We met at Applebee's, had a nice lunch. Got everything transferred to her car, and they went home. I got home about 3, and am tired.
Amazing how those two can put the food away. They went through a gallon of milk every day.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lindakay you will sleep well tonight, remember having 2 boys, ate us out of house/home and yes milk didn't last long. Your children go back to school earlier than ours, will they start on Monday?

Know about having to unpack boxes susan and wondering where to heck I'd put everything, heartwarming seeing yourteasures again. Won't be long before surgery..Suzanne has hers sept 1st.

Went to town in pouring rain, got everything I needed..guy tried to talk me out of the lawnmower wheel, said that wasntgow they connect but bought the wheel anyway, if it doesn't work I'll return it. As for Walmart, looked at their sheets and decided I'd go to Fabricland tomorrow and pick up proper fabric..

Having supper then I think it will be early to bed for me

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Back to school varies by county down here, some are already back to school. My Grandson starts end of August.

All our schools start after September long weekend

Good Morning,
Oh Betty my Betty, tight Armwraps...so very sorry about this big fallout with you store neighbors. Geesh, I sure hope he is man enough to acknowledge how wrong he was.

Well things are rolling right along...lol, I been calling Baby Lilyshu since I found out she was a girl and named Lily. Anyway she is just the light of my thoughts. One of these times she will be awake when I visit. Julia sends the family a Daily photo, and it just sends my soul to burst!
Well, heavy giggling, makes the chores a more fun...so we have a really good friend who celebrated his 71 birthday on Thursday. He is also, a veteran, this year marks 50 years when he joined the Army, I was Five...
We were trying to decide what to get him and I was telling Dh about my Friend Karen who makes quilts for veterans..maybe she has one ready? Hands on the hips roll eyeballs, I will make him a blanket myself Duh!! So agreed to buy all the material needed and let me do my thing ithout bugging me. So, I am proud to share this incredible gift of love and appreciation... Still in the making

Judy, that is so awesome. Did you give it to him yet? I know he will love it!

Betty, I slept like a baby. We were in bed by 9 last night. Don't know where they get all that energy.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, no afternoon..rainy day grrr

Did go to Gravenhurst, 100 vendors, few things I'd have loved to have bought but know I'm purging so came home with just a few eats. Enjoyed visiting with my godson Paul and his wife Penny, he was busy with the chainsaw but took time to chat and of course Penny had to lead me to a few vendors to say 'this is Aunt Betty'. Sure make one feel important.

Stoooed at Fabricland, looked at tone on tone 108" fabric, well I need 2 yards for a wedding quilt, $32 a yard +tax is not what I will pay..need it for 3 Quilts so it's a wait for next visit to Joanns.

Judy I love the blanket, just think how thrilled he will be to get one made by YOU, you sure are doing a great job, are you designing as you go? Need to see finished project..

Saw photo of Lily, she is just too adorable.

Lindakay, can see you resting today, as much as we love having them we sure find it hard to keep up to them.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Really attractive layout, can't wait to see finished product!

Betty, I can only imagine how hurt you must have been. I do hope your neighbor can do what it takes to make it right. I hope his pride does not get in the way of apologizing and trying to mend that fence. Both you (bakery & you) will benefit from repairing the relationship although I agree, the first move should be his although it does not HAVE TO BE. He must have been shocked and hurt to think you had done it and not had time to process that you would not have done such a thing. He acted impulsively and was WAY wrong.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - it's not just unpacking of our own stuff, but when Margaret's home was demolished (from same Park we lived in, in Calgary) we got gifted a lot of "more" stuff, like 1000 or so LPs & 45s! She was a horder, for sure, and they are records we enjoy, too, without our record player there;s a reason to have them. We're finding homes for some of them but there's still a lot and some are classics.

Two more days and we'll have a solar eclipse. In Canada there's no where that it's total, but will still get about 80% in our area, being halfway between Vancouver & Regina. http://globalnews.ca/news/3548728/canada-solar-eclipse-august-21/

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Great link Susan .. thanks, I want to know how long it'll last ..

Judy. outstanding job young lady .. and, your Lily is just perfecto :-)

Lorna's bday was Thursday, celebrated it today .. it was in the mid 90s here !! Have a couple of pics, so wish her Mom could have been here, but, she shared on the phone .. she has no computer, so, no facetime ..

Just popping in .. so blessed and happy we have AC .. DH was at a gun show all day and is OUT for the count .. he really isn't feeling all that well .. knee replacement in 5 months after a 10 moth wait to see the surgeon .. having a cortisone shot to his knee this coming week.
I'm having 'ticker problems', just diagnosed last week .. NOT HAPPY ..
Lorna is Lorna, hard working and just a breath of fresh air :-)

Hugs all around ...

Beautiful cake for a beautiful lady. Hope your day was special Lorna.

Judy, you are doing such a wonderful job on that QOV. I'm sure he will treasure it always.

Morning all, suppose to hit 77 today thenain for several days. Quiet day here, really nothing to do, well that is not totally right, lots to do but don't feel like doing much. Maybe once the grass dries I'll go amd do a bit of yard work, clean some spent flowers, nothing too energetic lol

How are you doing Pat, feeling more yourself?

"M" sorry to hear that youhave health issues, heart is always worrisome...hubby will be glad to put the knee surgery behind him. Love the photo of Lorna, she looks so well, her days at cemetery will soon be over for another year..how is her mother doing?

Barb, how are you and Norm doing?

Here I was looking for the heart icon on FB Barb's post to Lorna. No wonder I couldn't find it.

That seems to be the way my day is going. I drove into the village to collect some parcels at the PO. Locked. Then when I passed 1 of the churches there was no parking - they have an amazing breakfast on Sat. am so figured they were very busy.
Dianne and her TH

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hate days like that, nothing like church breakfasts and luncheons..

Played downstairs, got all my blocks applique'd, cooking up corn then will play outside for s bit

Verona, ON

Have no idea why but I thought it was Sat.Totally embarrassed myself at Foodland when I asked why there was no market. The number of vendors has really gone down so wondered if they decided to close it completely. Cashier said it was there yesterday. I blurted out what day is it ? Wouldn't consider it a downside of living back here but coupled with being retired I often lose track of days. A friend came for lunch Wed. and after she was here for awhile she said I now can see why you rarely come out.

Need to cut up some smaller pieces of wood so they fit in the stove. But I think I will leave it until tomorrow. Need to get someone in to get an estimate on taking down and trimming trees around the house. One guy has a bucket truck plus he retired from Ont. Hydro Forest team. Its quite the sight to see this team come in - a few trucks and hunky men with large chainsaws. Debbie would be in seventh heaven.......must admit I had a few glances at them. They look like a SWAT team.

Deb how is your little girl's tail coming along ?

Pat I hope you are over your torpor.... But you sounded busy......

LK are you needed more rest after having the boys ? How wonderful that they were able to come and visit you.

Have a nice shot of the new room and chair.Just have to figure how to post it.

Thinking of you and sending positive thoughts Barb. (((Barb and Norm)))

Need to at least tidy up the place. How 1 person and 3 dogs can make such a mess is beyond me .....

Stay safe and cool everyone.
Dianne and her TH

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Hiya ..

LoL DIanne, I do think all of us have likely done the 'mixed up day' thing, I know I sure have, especially if it's after a long weekend ..

Lorna will work at the cemetery until mid October .. the 2 university students are done at the end of August .. after they leave Lorna will have the gardens to put to bed, as well as cutting the grass .. good thing she likes it.
Her Mom is having an awful time with the lawyer .. Lorna's brother accompanied her on Friday and things are a bit more on track .. sinful what these shysters will do to the elderly ..
We'll hopefully be driving down to see her in late October .. guess it all depends on my ticker ..

Good to see everyone busy .. it is about 90 here, and, HUMID !!

Toodles

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

I figure out what day it is Dianne but what happens in my life, ie girls come Tuesdayetc..easily to confuse. Days of the week, every day seems like a weekend..look forward to seeing photo..

"M" pardon me for asking but what is wrong with your heart. Let's hope it's a warm fall, wouldn't want to head this way with prospect of snow. You must be worried with Lorna working on her own come sept.
Lawyerscatch you at your most vulnerable.

Still a minor funk, but better.

My oldest getting an offer to move to Seattle. I am praying the offer from Spokane comes in before he accepts. The Seattle job sounds too risky. Only 4 month at a time contract, lots more money but too much uncertainty for my cautious soul
I have pants to alter for him today. He ordered new pants but they didn't fit and nothing here locally will work so Mom gets pressed into service. The pro is altering this jacket to fit.

My Dad seems a little better, not near as grouchy. More grateful for what others do for him instead of constantly complaining. Marie took him on an outing on Friday and he managed to catch his arm on the oxygen T and rip his forearm open. His skin is very fragile and we can't use ANY kind of adhesive on it. bandaging it, then using Corban to wrap.

Marie has found something to help with the pain and inflammation in the knee. I intend to buy some of the same stuff for Ben on Monday.

Ben's hip is worse and I'm having to lift his leg into bed at night. It's too painful for him to lift it.

I'm still getting a little sewing in. I will feel better about "playing" when my "work" is done. JoAnn's had notions 50% and I stocked up on fancy elastic and sewing machine needles. I'm using the colored fancy elastic for shoulder straps on "halter tops" and sun dresses and other doll clothes.

It's been a full year since #2 DS, Kevin, hurt his hip at work. L&I has been slow to approve tests etc, etc. He has been teaching the water aerobics from IN the pool due to hip problems. L&I finally sent him to consultant etc but still nothing definitive. Gym would not let him return to work after the consultation without a release from MD. MD wrote so many restrictions that gym won't let him come back. He is heart broken and I'm grateful it's not his full time job. . It is beginning to look like Kevin may have to have surgery to repair the hip and then file lawsuit against L&I.

The weather is finally cooler here and soon we will be into the crazy part of the year when you want heater at night and air conditioner during the afternoon!

well... that's the news from here. I go to work. Come home, help Ben etc. go bed and do it all over again. The weekend comes, I see my Dad, run errands, laundry, and play catch up, squeeze some sewing and time with Sis in!! .

hugs to all!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

my day....... went to church with my friend Pat, then showed her where we buy farm eggs. Bob got all the skirting done (plywood) and we're going to paint it grey. Hopefully we can now buy all the siding we need for the addition.
Hard to believe it's been 1 year since we moved here!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, sunshine day, 81 with a feel like 95, wow glad I have a/c

Pat I don't know how you do everything you do and add work to the schedule, you are truly amazing. It's not a wonder you have down times..sounds like you got a lot of goodies for your dolls..I've another envelop of decorative items to send to you for your doll clothes, must remember to package it up for next time I'm stateside, likely in a few weeks.

Susan, you've done so much to your home, bet you can't wait for the siding which will make people all the difference in makingt the home you've akqways wanted..have you been using your hot tub?

Barb how is the quilting coming along?

Deb is Bonnie adjusting?

Not sure why I'm feeling at odds with myself lately, can't seem to settle down..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like things are finally coming together for you Susan.
Here in Texas, all mobile homes must have sheet metal for skirting. The termites destroy wood.
Betty, it sounds like you are still upset over the restaurant telling you not to come back. I pray that gets settled soon.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Could be lindakay, just wrestless, trying to force myself to do things..still have painting to do in basement but think I will hire someone to do it.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Susan, I can imagine how excited you must be! With the siding on & skirting painted it will look SO GOOD! In the park we lived in at Boise, the park manager would have hounded us to death. I am so glad we have moved away from there.

He hated my lawn art and I think he was getting Alzheimer because he would rag on me about the "pond" that was NOT there! The hole in the ground was there when we got there & I filled it etc within a month of getting there and he was STILL ragging on me when I left 3 years later. he was a rotten tempered grouchy man.

In our area of the country wood would NOT last. For house financing etc, you can not have any portion of the wood touching ground anywhere, metal or cement only.

I am EXCITED! My oldest told me there is an ASB plug in thing that you can use to import the photos from digital camera chip directly to computer!!!! when my old computer went down, that is why I have not been able to post pictures since! My old laptop had a chip plug in directly into.

Lots to do and some of it I actually WANT to do...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well it's a good day for you for sure Pat if you feel like doing them.

Are any of you in path of the eclipse?

Been watching it on CNN

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

We had a half hour "eclipse party" at work. The company provided glasses and we all stood around outside looking up. It is very cloudy here, but could still see the eclipse, except when the cloud cover got very heavy. I was expecting it to get a bit darker here, since we were supposed to get 87% coverage, but, with the clouds it is dark anyway, and didn't seem to get any darker.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Nice ofyourcompany..

CNN was saying some areas peoplecame from all over the world andcloud/rain prevented them from seeing the 'awe' moment

Lyndonville, NY

I am back....took forever to catch up.

Doing better, but dang.....the heart is aching. I am feeling such guilt for so much.
Now my little buddy Huck is mourning Dexters loss too.

So much happening here, and I am ready to go to Canada and kick somebody next to Betty in the Arse!!!! Oooh that man! And you never did anything but sing high praises to ME about them also.

I am making scalloped potatoes and ham, and used the crockpot. DH won't be happy but I had a craving. AND Tomorrow I am making a full turkey dinner for
his Dad and BIL. I do REFUSE to go to the family picnic /reunion on Saturday after what happened few months ago....I am not family. I am an inlaw or spouse. BITE ME. (sorry)

Hugs to all, will try and keep up
Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well debbie, you can come and visit anytime without going next door..was mid October when you came last year..we did Meaford applefest craftshow..time for another trip!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I watched the eclipse on the tv. It was only 67% here, and it was also cloudy.

Verona, ON

Can't sleep - watching News for Insomniacs. Also trolling Amazon looking for a clock that shows the date as well as the time. Think I have found one.

Lots of wild critters wandering about tonight. The TH are barking their heads off. Sure glad all the cottagers have gone home. Not that anyone is near me but sounds on the lake really carry.

Oh boy those scalloped taters and ham sound really good Debbie.

Cruised through Amazon and found a digital clock that also shows the day as well as the time.

Deb a wise business having the time out for the eclipse. They probably knew everyone would watch it anyway.
Dianne and her TH

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, hasn't started to rain yet but the boom bang has started.

Girls come today, not sure what everyone is working on, always interesting.

Glad you found your clock Dianne, I got one that tells temp, time and date, think it was from radio shack..

Best I go make a pot of coffee for the girls
