no rain here, but oh that wind! We did some sorting in the motorhome, prior to going camping on Tues, and will need to make some cornbread for tomorrow's senior BBQ
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends old/new, all welcome!
Thanks lindakay..
Melanie/greg wouldn't be gotten home till around midnight so don't know yet when viewing/funeral is yet..hoping not Friday as it's impossible to change travel plans, I'll call Greg later and hpget particulars.
Just got up, having breakfast then will do some quilting and it's spitting outside, good old rain.
Hope you all had a great weekend.
World' largest duck visit midland for 150th ...some of you will recognized the area as I took you for eats at the restaurant on this quay..
Scratch.... Oh.... know how that feels... wishing you a quick forgiveness & forgetfulness (which isn't always easy with it there to remind you!) Maybe I'd better stick with just forgiveness!
I have gotten several things done this weekend but on the whole felt like a lazy weekend. I don't take those very often! I even got a book read. I love to read but when I sew, I sew. When I read, read. I can't seem to find a happy balance in anything I do.
this is Monday and still my day off, those 10 hour days can be brutal but on Sundays and Mondays I am REALLY grateful for them!
Off to move my frog spitter to the opposite side of the pond so I can see him better, not have his back turned to me. Wish me luck, getting down on the ground and back up is NOT an easy task for me anymore. My knees and hips get very unhappy.
You deserve down time Pat, nothing like a good book. Hope you are sitting next to the pond listening to the frog spitting..lol
Raining here, been quilting a bit then remembered I needed to order flowers for Charlie so made the call. Viewing is Wednesday night 4-8 and funeral thursday, I'll go to the viewing, leave here about 2pm as it's a 2 hr. drive each way, hoping to be home by 10 pm
Could find my insurance slip for the car so called for them to have one ready just incase it's needed. So many little things to do and check before leaving on a trip, wether it be 2 days or 2 weeks.
I'm always a nasty crabby basket case before a trip. I need to apologize to my family in advance! On the other hand, IF they did more to get ready I wouldn't be so frazzled! LOL
We're getting ready to go to the BBQ this afternoon (Susan & I had a great time this morning - I did the baking & she read the destructions lol Her word, not mine).
Made some fudge brownies & cornbread. She doesn't cook/bake, so it's good that she lives with her DD & family LOL
Tomorrow - CAMPING! SO looking forward to it! We'll return on Mon the 31st. Susan's really really really looking forward to her first camping trip in many years.
Pat,tell them next time they get to prepare for the trip so you can mellow out..
Susan providing it not rain every dayyou will enjoy I'm sure..
Must to check long term weather forecast for my trip
Already in Jammie's, can see an early night ahead!
It's only supposed to rain on Friday, while we're away. That gives us 4 days of lovely weather.
Enjoy your trip Susan.
Betty, where are you going on your trip this year?
Pat, I'm missing my sewing time. It's hard watching a baby. I love her to pieces but......
I do my reading at night, I'm so undisciplined, that if I start during the day, I'd get lost for the whole time. At night it just puts me to sleep sooner.
My weekend wasn't at all quiet but that's OK most of them are and lonely too.
Morning all, sunshine so far, let's hope it last, would love getting the yard trimmed before I leave, we will see.
Karen, I smile as I read your post, you are only happy when entire family is visiting with you.lol you love a house full..
Susan, the monarch must have npbeen healthy then if he flew away, sad to say I don't see many butterflies this year but mega bees.
Lindakay, leave Friday,3 more sleeps
Girls come today for sewing, Sooo love having my sewing room back. Worked a bit on Sharon's wedding quilt, takes on a new beauty when it's quilted, she is anxious to get it back, had hoped to have it off frame by Friday but schedule is filling up and it's doubtful..have to do something on frame to stop Ziggy from pulling at roll of batting and laying on quilt top if I don't get it done.
Not much else going on, am excited to be going on holidays with the girls though..missing Linda and we've not yet left☹️
What states are you visiting Betty?
Betty - glad you see bees - they were having difficulty propulating, but apparently they're making a comeback.
Enjoy your trip!!
I hope you ladies have a stupendous day!
I made a mistake - we're not leaving to go camping until tomorrow. Don't know where I got the idea we were going Tues, but it gives me another day to do "stuff" here. Pack more of the motorhome, paint some interior here, etc. Going to go do the bathroom door (inside - hall side's already been done) and also some ceiling spots where our tenants went past the wall to the ceiling. The colour won't be the same cuz this is new ceiling paint, and the old is about 14 years old.
Bob & Susan have gone to Olds to pick up some last minute stuff for camping (like a clip for the electrical door on our motorhome. It's getting old and falling apart.
Lots to do before camping susan!
Lindakay, leaving Friday morning and hoping to make Cincinnati, we will do a tour of Kentucky bourbon distillery so Suzanne can get her son a true bottle from dupistillery then we have to be in Nashville by 4pm for hillbilly our if city, spend evening listening to upcoming talent, Sunday we do general Jackson riverboat dinner cruise. We lthen leave for Montgomery Alabama in the morning and tour several venues in Montgomery. It's then on the next day to New Orleans with a stop in Biloxi Alabama ,
Then fun begins for 4 days in New Orleans, mailboat aligator tour, we never miss that, then plantation tour, shopping etc... then on to Memphis Tennessee for 2 days, lots planned there...on way home we have a few stops I.e. Loretta Lynn's dude Ranch, brainstree etc. So once again a fun filled trip!
Sounds like fun. are you stopping to see Mary at her restaurant?
Won't get as far as Baton Rouge, plantation as think its an hour away from Baton Rouge.

wow Betty - that sounds like great fun - a Riverboat cruise!! And an alligator tour? wow and yikes lol Enjoy!
Sounds like a fun trip Betty. Hope you accomplish all you have planned.
We have to go through Cinci when we go to TN, always the worst part of the trip. Been going over 20 years and don't believe there was ever a trip through Cinci without construction delays.
Hoping because we get there late we will miss the traffic, think we might branch off just before..
Girls getting ready listening to Cajun music
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ubSCPBkTyWY
Makes me want to get up and doa jig lol
That is a LOT planned!
Morning, looks like a sunshine day..
Yes, we have to keep to a schedule seeing as tickets have already been purchased, I always leave a little leeway so it's doable and again with 3 drivers it makes it easier and less stress on we 3 having to do all the driving on our own.
Greg and Mel dropped in last night just as I was heading to bed, greg had bought a suit and pants were too long, Lordy he is almost 6'2" and pants were 3" too long so I shortened them up. Melanie looked so tired, needs a rest. They are flying to Newfoundland and have to leave at 4:30a.m. Saturday then they can both have 2 weeks to semi rest!
I'll finish quilting Sharon's quilt today, leave around 2 or 3 for Meaford, by the time I get home there goes wednesday..
Susan, enjoy your camping, am sure susan will love it..don't work bob too hard.
In my opinion, the only thing Bob will have to do (if he wants to that is) is chop wood - no renovating in the woods!!! lol
We're all looking forward to getting away from it all!
Our neighbour/friend's hubby had his licence plate stolen. Next day the police called and said "he" was driving eratically in another town. When wife spoke to police she said "he wasn't there, he was at home". She went out and looked and sure enough - no licence plate..... This is apparently common in our area. Not only licence plates, but vehicles. It's rampant here.
Well, off to go pack food for the trip- cya later - late on the 31s!
You would have thought they would have pulled that driver over and given him a ticket. But calling the next day???
Beautiful quilt Betty.
Susan, enjoy your trip.
Have a wonderful time Susan. It will be a good time I'm sure.
When do you leave Betty? Sounds like a great trip but PLEASE take it easy in New Orleans!!! No table dances......
Beautiful, beautiful quilt Betty. Have a great trip. Come home safely.
All is well here in Las Vegas but there are thunderstorms and rain all around us but we have not had a drop. But we have had the humidity. We are so spoiled with our low humidity.
Vern's daughter arrived last night from Vancouver, Washington. She arrived here this morning at 10am. She spent the night with a girl friend. All went smoothly because I just smiled and stayed out of the way. No mention of turning me in to Senior Abuse. She leaves tomorrow about 2pm. It did make her Dad happy and she said she was amazed how much better he looked.
My washer pump went out on Sunday. Thank goodness my neighbors are in Cancun and allowed me to use their washer. A guy showed up today, on time, knew his product and did an amazing job. Fixed both washer and dryer, changed vent and fine tuned several items on each appliance. Charge was $320. LG wanted $275 per machine. This guy was on Yelp and had quite a few nice reviews. He will get mine tonight.
My garden helper was here today and I planned on going outside and doing some trimming but no clouds and it was just to hot in the direct sun. MAYBE TOMORROW.
Susan, have a wonderful camping trip. Be safe and laugh a lot.
Betty, Sharon's quilt is beautiful. Good job getting it done before your trip. One less thing to worry about. Your son sounds like my son bu I do not know how to sew but he would need it at the last minute and call me about what to do. Betty have you guys warned New Orleans you are coming back?
Karen, enjoy your summer and all of your grandchildren.
Barb, what is going on with your DH's unemployment?
Deb, where are you?
Hopefully in the next week or two I will figure out how to down loan photos from my I phone onto Dave's Garden. Maybe someone here can hold my hand and guide me.
I will return tomorrow. After step-daughter is on the plane.
Norm is still unemployed. He has been on several interviews but the jobs seem to entail more than he is capable of doing. He knows this before he goes but these are companies that call him based on his resume but when they see his age there always are reasons he isn't a "good fit for the job" etc, etc. But it shows the unemployment office that he is actively looking so I guess it isn't all bad. BUT he still has not received any benefits from them.. It will be a month tomorrow since he lost his job and nothing coming in. We don't know what to think......
We are hanging in there with the help of our children.
Still hanging in there. Charlotte, my puppy, goes every other day for cold laser treatments on her tail to help with healing. Yesterday is the first time it looks a bit better. Friday they re-evaluate and schedule next week.
Hope you have a great trip, Betty! Be sure to post lots of pictures.
So sorry to hear Norm isn't getting too far in his job search. You would think, from his resume and work history they would get an idea of his age. It's not always a bad thing, it shows that he is more experienced. We just brought in a software guy here that has to be mid-late 60's. I'm no longer the oldest one in my department!
So sorry Barb, Age discrimination is supposed to be illegal, but you know it's happening. They can tell just by the dates on your resume. There is no such thing as employer loyalty. Hubby's last he was approached by long time friends to work for them. He ran a company for them and did a great job. When he was at "that" age he was told to get a job as greeter at Walmart. They also accused him of stealing from them and called other companies to ask what they knew. Of course none did. Owners son on the other hand, had his fingers in a few pies and it seemed he made hubby the fall guy. Sad world out there.
Sharon, I'm not real savvy but the only way I can do that with photos is to download them to my computer and then to where ever I want to show them.
Evening everyone,
Busy doing odd/ends today, getting all in order as I leave around 11 tomorrow but Suzanne has to be far end of Toronto for an appointment at 9a.m. So we have to pick her up at 6:30 so won't be a late night, hoping not.
Mom got here at noon and Rita got here Wednesday afternoon so company to chat with..so funny mom wanted to go to Walmart for fingernail polish and such and I groceries, when I unoacked the pats I had 2 of almost everything, she bought groceries she liked and I bought her groceries I knew she would like thus 2 of everything..lol
Barb it's all so disappointing, it's getting USC benefits vs getting a job right now is what you need..did they not give Norm any indication that he would receive benefits?
Deb, hope no additional surgery s required..how is he doing, scratching/licking it?
Karen, that is dreadful..shame on them!
Sharon, not sure how you were civil to stepdaughter, you are kinder than I that is for sure..still expensive though for the repairs even though he was cheaper than other companies, guess not really if you had high end machines that aren't that old.
Well, bones are aching, just too damp
Going to have my bath and relax for an hour or so then calling it a day..when I wake up there will be no more sleeps..😜
Just want to wish you safe travels Betty and take the time to enjoy yourselves. Post when you can and I"ll be looking forward to pictures.....
