Pups are due March 11th.

My sis in law's parents lived at home, but someone is there all the time to help. My sil has been staying Mon thru Fri goes home on the weekends, and they have someone from an agency that stays over the weekends. Her father has been admitted to a hospital local to the cemetary, he had fluid accumulated around his lungs. They had done a procedure to remove fluid last Friday, and again, yesterday, they removed 1.5 liters of fluid. No idea why that's happening, though. He doesn't seem to have much fight left in him right now. SIL wants to get him moved to the hospital that his regular doctors work out of, but her brothers don't want to move him right now.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

What a decision - moving can be difficult on his health, I suppose? Having his regular Drs attending to him would be good, though. I pray that they will be able to find out why the fluid is accumulating, and be able to resolve it!

lol Pups are due on my b-day!

Went out for a lovely walk - beautiful weather. I'll go out again before dinner.
Having lunch now, then will have a nap.

Fifteen times, omg no wonder you are a pro!
I've decided in the woodworking area Ihave commercial shelving and have box after box of painting patterns, doubtful I will go back to painting so like you that area needs to be cleaned up..will wait for spring and have Greg/Kyle come and I'll make trips to the dump then I'll finish the area.

Kyle just left, he will come tomorrow after work and spend weekend, loves Ziggy so I'm sure he will be one spoilt Kitty when I get home Monday. He is grooming trails both Saturday and Sunday night so says he will love the quietness here to sleep during the day..told him he'd better close the bedroom door. Lol

Told myself everything would be in the car for an early take off in the morning, didn't do a think except play with cutouts for the September quilt block

Need to get dressed and pick a few things up at grocery store, gave Kyle money to order pizza or meals rather than cooking while I'm away, didn't want to take it but I insisted.

Off to get bedding out of dryer and make the bed.

Big yawn

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Company is having a grand time. I made spaghetti today so my work is done. They are having a bit of luck on the ice so dinner tomorrow will be fish. No cooking for me, fish is hubby's do.Was about 48 today the little kids went out to play for quite a while. All came in rosy cheeks & wet clothes & starving.
Lorelei is doing just great she is up to 9 lbs. I got to hold her for all of about 10 minutes today, but I see her most days and can bide my time. Funny thing we just found out, All will have to remember if she ever gets appendicitis, her's is not located in the usual place, it's directly behind her navel.
It's warmer this week-end but still plenty of ice, it's nearly a foot thick. Kids were all promised they could go out ice fishing tomorrow and are excited. Amelia loves when cousins are here. I'm hoping she stays as close to hers as I am to mine. And the next two generations are all close too. Makes for a lot of fun and as always mysterious bangs & bumps upstairs on first night.

Is her appendix in a different location, due to her surgery.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Yes Linda it is. Dr didn't want to mess with things ant more than necessary so didn't poke around trying to rearrange. She's doing very well eating like a little pig and gaining at a good rate.

How truly lovely, Debbie! Betty sure did spoil you, and I love this pretty quilt - it's a lap quilt, isn't it?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like you over did it Betty, please be careful.
Love that quilt Debbie!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Hope this finds you resting Betty. You had a really busy weekend.
I got to get outside today!!!!! Norm took me out for a ride and then we went to Joanns so I could pick out some yarn. I want to make two sweaters for the two little ones next door. Dad has been keeping us and the cars shoveled out and I so appreciate that. He won't take anything but I don't think he would refuse something for his girls.
You sound a bit better Pat after getting some sleep. Sure hope it continues for you.
Keep up with your exercise Susan and you will be at church soon....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dropping in with a 'hi'
Left early morning yesterday, did some sightseeing, shopping, by 6pm I was too tired o stay out and have a nice meal,,just wanted to get into a bed..am sure I fell asleep right away, woke a few times and mom was doing word search..Drats, sad when you can't keep up with your mom....

Woke at midnight, pain'ing big time so let's hope the meds work and I will fall back asleep..plans are to go have breakfast, mom had a few things she wants to do, hoping to leave around 10 for home, would get me to mom's by noon, the to Sharon's for a visit, leave around 2 and home by 4..well laid plan, now let's hope.

Barb, glas you got out shopping, mix your weather was anything like it was here you would have enjoyed mega sunshine..we shopped without jackets.thought of spring, bought various lawn and grub supplies.

Pat you must be exhausted

Yes Lindakay, am exhausted, bit more than I thought I would be..big sigh

Karen, you will have empty nest syndrome today, daily going home.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - hope you get some good, restful sleep
Barb - thank you. I am keeping up with my exercises and walking. I am feeling better all the time. I've been taking my iron because I believe I was getting low and therefore feeling very weak & shaky, and not sleeping. I'm getting better now.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Great news Susan..
Nope been watching tv, Lordy I miss Rogers, nothing to watch here, mostly listened to CNN all night, enough to keep one wake.
Mom stirred a few times but is having a great sleep..if it were I I'd be packed up and on the road

Anxious get home

What do you all have planned for today with it being Presidents Day?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

President's Day here only means that government, schools and post offices are closed. Norm is working. Stores are open with big sales. I am sitting and knitting today. I got the yarn I wanted yesterday and have started on one of the sweaters. I'll take a photo when it works up enough to show..... I need to split my time with Norm's cat as I refuse to put it aside. This will be a good thing as my hands need to move in different ways to keep them limber.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You are up early Barb..what sizes are the sweaters? Always nice to have different projects to work on..does norm keep checking how far the cat project is progressing?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

President's Day is about the same here Barb. Joann's sent me two 60%off coupons that are only good today. I'll go see if there is anything I can't live without. I can always get cutting blades or thread.

Betty two of the grandsons are staying this week as they have winter break. They are old enough to pretty much fend for themselves, and will listen to Gpa as to what they are allowed to do.

Lyndonville, NY

Good morning,

I tried going out for pictures yesterday and a wicked headache snuck up on me while out. I made it home....laid on the sofa and slept 4 hours. Didn't hear DH come home even. Woke up to him making dinner.....at...and back to sleep another couple hours!!! I made myself get up, walk the yard....which is a mud pit. AND...in bed by 11:30 and slept til 6:30 this morning....

SO thank you sleep angels!

Betty safe travels to you and Mama Fran today. I hope the border goes gentle and lets you back in. (wink)

My flowers are coming up on the south side of the house! Daffodils several varieties and I am not sure what else is poking up....sure hope it doesn't kill them when cold returns.

Barb, happy you got out yesterday! I can just see the joy on those girls faces receiving such a gift!

I was telling Betty my treasures you all made me.....really touch my heart. Never had handmade gifts until you all did such kindness to me....and they are my treasures. When I think of the doilies my Mom threw out that my grandma made...it breaks my heart. I loved washing and ironing them....and even embroidery scarfs mom and I used to do when I was young. She said they were "ratting" and tossed them!!! Aaaahhhh!!!

Enjoy your day....Hope is good for all
Debbie

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

the sweaters I'm doing are for really little ones. The oldest one is 19 month old and the new one is only 8 weeks!!!! So they should go up quickly.....

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Wow Debbie - you obviously needed the sleep!
Flowers! That's terrific :-) Wish I could see them

Family day is same here - places are closed today
I both am, and am not, looking forward to my walk today. I want to get out but am hurting.

Lyndonville, NY

Susan they are just popping through the earth.....I will watch them closely this week and see how much more they sprout. ALso....the Canadian geese have returned to the pond in town. I will be happy when the swans do!

Got home about an hour ago, couldn't see out of the car windows so stopped and got car wash,m's topped next door for chicken Alfredo, looks so good, took hot bath and decided Alfredo can wait until tomorrow, grabbed bag of licorice, a pop amd crawled into bed.

Karen, did you buy anything at Joanns? How far do you have to travel to get to one?? Will be nice for you having the boys.

Barb, that's a nice age to knitt for..they have such fun colors out there . Cardigans you are knitting right.

Debbie, there were only about 6 cars and 3 booths..young man asked the purpose of our visit, where we lived, did we have a nice time and that was it..didn't even ask about liquor..dropped mom,off then went,to,Sharon's..she wanted me to help her with part of her project, I said no, would show her how but if I help then she couldn't say she did it..I didn't realize just how bad her hands are, she can no longer hold a cup without spilling half, shaking so bad..she has been like that since a child but now she in almost incompacitated!

Debbie, sorry you ended up with a headache, remnant from your cold/flu I bet, bought, excedrin migraine, I'd have shared them had,I known.

You are more than welcome re blanket, enjoy giving to those, who, appreciate the art.

Plants here, might want to come, out but Lordy still, several, feet of snow

I got half a roll of Warm & Natural batting at 60% off. and three fabrics, two were on sale and used a coupon on third. Also picked up bolt of special order fabric that came in. Had a third coupon, cashier asked was I coming back today, I said no and she said oh I'll just throw this away then. I told her no I would take it back, then just handed it to person in line behind me. I do that whenever I have more coupons than I can use. Hopefully back to sewing tomorrow. Hubby is taking boys down to river for Steelhead fishing.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Good for you - why should it be thrown out, if a coupon can be used?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Nice hauls Karen and Betty!!! I was there too and got the yarns I needed and picked up Fons & Porter's latest magazine. Got a couple yards of a fabric I liked. It was great to get out.....

Afternoon

Is it bedtime yet?
Headache, just normal, nothing to get checked..did too much on the weekend..

Gab in a bit

Verona, ON

Well it is Spring here. How about you Betty ? Lots of mud here but I'm not fooled winter has not left us.

I went into Ktown this morning to run a few errands. It was crazy busy everywhere. I bought a package of work socks. When I was checking for washing instructions I just about fell over laughing. In big bold letters it said Do Not Iron. Who irons socks?

LK I loved your post on FB. You gave me a well needed reason to laugh. Initially I knew you had been ill so I thought you were trying to change up your diet. But then I was like Hey LK loves Bailey's Fudge.

Oh Debbie I love the quilt. it is so you !! What a lovely gift Betty especially knowing it was made with love.

You ladies who sew could probably get yourself a fine little business making pillow cases for body pillows. Just kidding as I know you all sew because you enjoy doing it. I bought 2 today but they really need to be a little bit wider and longer. Maybe it is not fitting as well as my body pillow is bamboo.

Oh Barb I am so glad you got out this weekend. I know I keep saying it but your Norm is a keeper. I started cleaning out a double closet in the den and found some yarn I had bought when Warren was ill. I thought I could crochet an afghan while we waited for appointments - never even started something. I know somewhere in that closet is a pattern for an afghan that I did years ago. It was fun to do and I really liked it when it was done. My sweet dad took it everywhere with him. He was always cold so he loved having some extra warmth.

Must in part be the weather Betty as I have a banger of a headache. And I think Debbie said she had a bad one on the weekend.

Chaos needs my undivided attention. NOW !! He is so darn cute I can't resist him asking to play.
Dianne and her TH

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

awwwww great big guy like Chaos, being cute! Yes, I can picture his eyes & face - begging "please play with me, ok? I know you waaaaaaaanna!!!"

Yes, Debbie had a headache, and now you Dianne & Betty? Physical stress is very (to coin a phrase) distressing. I do hope you two get rid of your headaches.

I'm very pleased today - came home from crafting, finding a message from the local hospital, with an appointment for 3pm tomorrow, for Physio! They had told me 1 to 2 more weeks and they'd call me, but now - starting tomorrow!! Now, to see how I manage. I'll take a painkiller 1 hour before I start. That should cover me :-) I'm so pleased!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

I morning...
Read your lovely post Dianne but can't respond right now, yep banger of a headache still, going to get up, feed Ziggy then back to bed

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

So sorry about the headaches. I very seldom get one but I can sympathize. I had my heart doc appointment yesterday. Did great - don't have to go back for 6 months!!! Then I saw the palliative doc and she said she would see me in 3 months so I must be doing something right with all this staying put in the house. I am thrilled as now it will be Norm's turn for some of the TLC he always gives me. My doc looked at his stress results (same hospital) and told him a catherization is in the cards. She also told him to start on a baby aspirin daily NOW..... His appointment is next Monday.
Got some knitting done and a bit on the cat yesterday. I'm trying to balance the time spent on the two of them..
Can't wait to see Brandon when he gets home this weekend for spring break. I really miss him.

I am a lurker from afar (lead a very quiet life), but was gone from DG for a while (life got crazy for a bit). I have been wondering about what has been happening to a lady on one of the General Discussion threads who cares for a HL (which I thought was a very fine thing to be doing - more courage than I have). But I do not know which thread she posts on. Does anyone know who I am remembering? Please excuse this intrusion. Thank you.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Hello stillwood,
I am terrible with initials - what is an HL? Happy you felt comfortable to pop in here. You are always welcomed.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone.
Welcome stillwood.
I sent you a Dmail. In the parking lot group, there are several that are taking care of Handicap Ladies. HL.

Verona, ON

That was Laura known as Kooger on DG. She posts on Coffee which you will find in The Parking Lot.

You didn't intrude I think I can say for everyone here don't be a stranger. I've seen your posts on HWYD also in The Parking Lot. It was moved from Pets so only members could access it. You have a problem with ticks if I remember correctly. 2 of my 3 have Lymes and have been having very expensive treatment to get rid of it. Chaos did not get Lymes but he had the shot.

Headache still banging away... I would love to blame the weather but I know it is just things going on around me.

Headache or not I need to get the garbage the mile up the lane to the township road. I have 10 bags of it and no more places to store it outside. In the winter I don't take it up every week.

Make sure you all do something nice for yourself today.
Dianne and her TH

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Welcome Stillwood. I remember you from awhile ago. Not from the Pets forum though. Yes, Laura is the HL you mentioned. Please don't be a stranger. Post how often & whatever you wish. It IS a General Discussion, after all. Never an intrusion.

So sorry you ladies are having such bad headaches. Hope you're looking after yourselves.

Looking forward to my physio starting today. Once a week.
