Hard when you have to be dependent on others to get projects done..coming together nicely though..

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Thank you, Betty - your kind words are appreciated re: our addition. Bob put in the side lights, while the contractor built the door frame & installed the door. Bob could have installed the door, but the frame was something he did not have the knowledge for and as the contractor was experience in all things "door", it only made sense for him to do it all. He took some "collector" vinyl LPs as payment. We had offered him a brad nailer as payment (Bob was going to sell it, otherwise), but when he saw the records, he asked for them instead. Yes, they were interesting ones. We'd been given them by Margaret but she'd given us 1000 or so, and we're not going to miss 10 records.

We got 16" of snow and now have the howling wind. Norm's appt was cancelled and will need to be rescheduled. He is going crazy with this not knowing what is happening and what will be done. Hope I can get a new appt ASAP!!!!!!
Meant to add that politics have no place in the show ring. Inuk was so much better behaved than the dog that won.

Barb - I hope that Norm gets an appointment quickly!!! I can well imagine that Norm's going crazy.
You're right - there is No room for politics in the show ring.

Happy Valentine's Day

going to have light snow then into high 30's-LOW 40's with sunshine..perfect travelling weather.p for mom and I this weekend.

Barb, how disappointing for Norm, maybe they will be quicker fitting him in seeing they did the cancellation..you both must be concerned, hugs

Girls come this morning, will be a treat, pat is bringing Don, he wants to work with the glass saw doing some maple leFs for his 150th anniversary project. Enjoy their visit, pat and don are likely one of the sweetest couples I've ever met.

Do any of you remember Jo, Roadrunner from DG? She passed away yesterday. Her heart stopped, and they could not revive her.

This is her facebook page.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Jo and my mom were great friends here on DG, and she wrote to me often after my mom died. Got to meet her at a couple of Dg Roundups in KY years ago. She will be missed.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

So sorry to hear of her passing. I did not know her, but she obviously lovingly touched a lot of lives as it shows on her FB page.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sorry to hear of her passing as well..did see her on a few threads..what was your mom's dg name Deb, know I should know it..put it off to memory loss right now

Lyndonville, NY

I am here, poking in. Happy Valentines Day!

I went over to town and picked up some chocolates for DH.....and got a box to share with all of you! Chocolate toffee and so good. Love the little shop there. She was bringing out chocolate covered strawberries.....I had to leave or I would have gotten them and ate every one!!!

Yes so sorry for Sharon & Inuks loss. BUT...he is a BIG winner in all ways in my book.

Yes Jo's death really hit me. Had just talked to her couple weeks ago she was having FB problems and her account hacked. She has had hard times since her fall a few months ago. She will be missed. Had to call my brother and break the news. Seems that is only time we talk any more.

We had about 6 inches snow...and then rain....and another day of snow....and now it is a mucky mess. Wind is picking up too.

Betty....is it possible I meet up with you on Saturday? My Sunday is not looking good.

MIL is home from hospital. DH stayed at his parents house Friday until Monday night helping his dad and bringing his Mom home. Won't lie...I so enjoyed the quiet...but still no sleep. My "fitbit" logged 3 hours last night....and 4 the night before.

Waving to all.....enjoy your day!! Barb...stay inside and be careful!!

Betty, my mom's name on here was DJM906, she died almost 10 years ago. It was right around the time you started this thread, or whatever you call it. I remember going back to the start, and I believe in your first Best/Worst thread, someone had posted that the worst was my mom's passing. Hard to believe it's been so long, but she and Jo were good friends.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just back from town, treated myself to Kentucky fried chicken did some groceries and body saying bedtime.

Debbie, not sure what time I'll get stateside Saturday lord willing but can kind of let you know early Saturday my estimated time of arrival. If you can't make it then another trip stateside we will.

Is the Fitbit telling you a fib like the steps we made when you were here? Lol
Sorry you aren't getting much sleep..I started back on gravol before bed and it mKes a remarkable difference.

Deb, must not have been on threads with her, at least I don't recall I was. Was she I'll for a long time?

Dg must be having trouble again, doesn't show me there has been a post not the photo, at least the photo's do appear at least for now
Ziggy is fussy, Missy loved Kentucky fried chicken, he ate the chicken but left the skin.

Treated myself to nibs licorice so it's off for my bath, then comfy in bed, just hope I don't eat the entire bag.

I did my very best to avoid it but "IT" caught me any how. So achy, this is seriously going to cut into my sewing time. We didn't even bother to fix a dinner tonight. I just had some soup and snugged in my chair under a pile of blankets.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Awe, so sorry you got the bug. Please drink lots of fluids, and get to the Dr. if need be.

Morning all,

Sorry to hear Karen you are down with the flu, seems the longer you rest the less likely it comes back..quilting will always be there.

Drats, humming in my head so darn loud this morning and every bone in my body aches, would have slept it had iff you not wanted up...going have to learn to put him out and close the door so I can have a few more hours of sleep.

Guess we just have to plug along

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Going back to bed - didn't sleep well last night, and woke up with upset tummy

Verona, ON

Ended up doing the same thing Susan. It's a damp cold here and it plays havoc with my joints.

My Valentine's gift to myself was I let the fire go out .... so I didn't have to bring wood in.

Is Inuk on his way home? Did everyone see the clip of a beagle doing his agility run? I laughed and laughed it was so beagle.

The TH have been out making snow angels - what a blast they have.

Like Debbie we have a storm warning in effect for tomorrow. I have to get into Ktown to have a MRI in the morning.

Chaos is tap dancing so I had better get him out.
Stay safe and warm everyone.
Dianne and her TH

Victoria Harbour, ON

Seems this cold/damp weather is playing havoc with all of us..
Had company for a few hours this morning..she dropped into the bakery on her way home, got chicken Alfredo, just emailed me to say just how delicious it was.

Sharon is now home, settling in and keeping herself busy..
Never saw what snow angel dogs look like.

Could so doze off but going to fight it lol

Worked on the cat today. Got half way down the next page. I can see the chine starting to take shape. Then it will be back to background again for a bit.

We have a snow warning for tomorrow too. Not supposed to be too bad where I am but farther north will get belted again. My older brother lives up there and is very grateful for a crew of friends that make sure he is plowed and shoveled out.

They are saying we may have a fairly quiet weekend and maybe I will be able to get out. I need to get my birthday cards for the year and some yarn to make sweaters for the two little ones next door. It is their dad who has been keeping us shoveled out and I am so grateful.

Can't remember who I told or not but Norm's appointment has been re-scheduled for the 27th. He is so anxious to know what is going on with his heart and what can be done. He gets antsy with not knowing.

~~~ HI to all and keeping you all in my prayers....
Victoria Harbour, ON
Good news Barb to get an appointment so quickly, not as good as already having it done but not as bad as waiting a month or so.
You are a lot further than you thought you would be with Norm's kitty
Kiddies will be thrilled to get the sweaters and it's a nice way to repay the dad.
Just took Tylenol 3, put another on the night table just incase it's needed during the night.
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)
Hope you get a good night's sleep, Betty
Speaking of T3s - I'd tried for 2 days to Not take them, thinking they were messing up my system (very upset tummy & no washroom breaks), but then my tummy got a "different" type of upset - think it was going cold turkey not having pain meds at all, and I was having flu-like symptoms. I took one, and within 45 min was feeling better, more like myself. My pain is now manageable, but going cold turkey was too hard on my system. Before surgery, I was used to taking 2 before bedtime for pain (less than the Dr had prescribed) and that was fine.
Suffice to say, I know what my system is asking for, and I'm not going to take too much.
Went into the den doorway and sat there taking in the sunshine & fresh air for about an hour - felt great. Bob left the inside door open in case I needed him. Temp was 54F outside, so really a nice day but with all the melting/freezing it was too icy to walk, Bob said, so in the doorway was good.
Looking forward to the senior's lunch (pizza) at Silver Willows tomorrow @ noon. They do this once a month - have a lunch & meeting with the senior's group. This make 2 outings for me, in a week - good.
Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)
I spent most of today snugged in my recliner under a couple warm covers. I usually just use one but was fighting off a chill. Feeling a bit better this evening, hope a good nights sleep will help me kick this.
Company coming this week-end. Oldest DS & family and DGD with her family. They are all wanting to go ice fishing. Should be good not too cold but the ice is plenty safe. Had to laugh a couple days ago. I told our neighbor where the perch hole was and to set up his shanty there. Pretty soon people from across the lake brought their shanty out too. Every little bit they were moving closer and closer to our neighbor until they were practically on top of him. He finally just gave up and brought his shanty in. We had to have our truck towed in for repair. The fellow driving the tow truck said he used to ice fish here all the time. He said to hubby, you know you have the best place on the lake for fishing. Hubby told him we knew that but none of our kids believed it no matter how many nice bass had come from the end of our dock. They always go to the far end to fish. Grass is always greener syndrome I guess.
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Good morning, looks like everyone is sleeping in today.
I have been up most of the night, with my diverticulitis flaring up. Not fun at all.
Victoria Harbour, ON
Morning,
Sorry you aren't doing well Lindakay
Karen you any better?so laughing, much the same when we were on the lake, it was a big deal to go out in the boat to fish only to come back and those on dock had caught more than them..so miss those days.
Susan, sitting in the sunshine is bound to make you feel better, plus, enables you to keep an eye making sure bob is working hard 😜 How much longer before he is able to open it up so you have access from your present home?
What a glorious sunshine day..no sleeping in for me Lindakay, was up early puddling
Cutting some lanterns for Liz so I can mail stateside
Made a dolly dress for the quilt
Put away Valentine's Day and took out some st Patrick's day decor, Ziggy is eyeing the floral arrangement?
Decided to have lunch , sit in sunshine and do some cut outs for August block, who knows, maybe even a tap
Taking a break
I'm feeling much better Betty, Last night I really bundled up and sweated it out. Still snotty but don't feel bad at all. Lots of company coming again this week-end. I really had to button up my sewing area. Becca almost 3, is a very busy body. Believe I have every thing dangerous out of reach. Oh and just got the word that older grands are bringing a couple friends and sleeping bags.
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)
Glad to hear you're feeling better, Karen
Betty - we can access the den from inside, it just had a lot of construction items in it, and couldn't move anything into it because the floor's just plywood, not finished. Bob cleared it out and swept it so I could go sit out in it.
Today I went to our senior's center (Silver Willows) and had a pizza lunch & stayed for the meeting. Afterwards I took a nap, then did some knitting.
Then cabin fever really hit. I've been feeling weaker & shaky, and figured I Really needed to get some exercise, etc. Bob got my sitting walker out and I took a walk for a block, sat down and got my strength back, and walked back home again (in the Park). I've been going stir crazy not getting outside. Bob had chopped the ice up and now he's gotten some plywood over any remaining ice and melt water so I could walk out to the street. Felt SO good to get out. I'm going to go out every day now, weather permitting.
Victoria Harbour, ON
Morning everyone..
grey sky but weatherman says we will see sunshine, they have been known to fib haven't they..don't mind grey just as long as no snow for my trip to Buffalo tomorrow.
Susan, glad you were out yesterday, think many of us are in same boat,cabin fever..I'm wondering if I'll know how to behave this weekend in public lol
Karen, full house once again, eye know you aren't your best and they will do ebpverything right, you just have to sit and enjoy? Now is Lorelei?
Dianne, how are you feeling, is the warmer temps giving you a break re bringing in the wood and letting the TH out?
Deb how is the mommy to be, guess you can't plan going to any shows until the birth.
Lindakay and Debbie, how are you doing?
I will gather things I need to bring with me tomorrow morning, get them packed in the car so all I have to do in the morning is get dressed.
Sitting here having coffee, Ziggy was pawing and crying for me to pet him at 5am, got up, put him out and closed bedroom door and slept till almost 8am...he wasn't pleased!
Best I get a move on
Verona, ON
Oh Susan you have a keeper there with Bob. Glad you were able to get outside. I truly believe the outside air is good for you.
MRI went well. Lunch at Red Lobster - it was excellent.
Only thing on my agenda today is to get wood into the house. The TH will be excited as they can cavort in the snow. They have been lazy the last few days but so have I. Actually I have the energy of a slug - don't know why but I don't like the feeling.
LK are you feeling any better?
Oh Karen are you up for having company? Oh ya I forgot your company actually steps right up and helps. I was laughing about the ice huts. We have little villages spring up on the lake. Our bay looks like it should be excellent fishing but its not. The regulars have figured out they need to go across the lake by the A frame.
Stay safe and warm everyone or in LK's case cool.
Dianne and her TH
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Morning everyone, yes I am feeling much better.
Glad to hear everyone is doing better as well.
Betty, please be careful on your trip, no dancing on tables allowed! :)
northeast, IL(Zone 5a)
No dog shows until after the pups are born and have had their first two shots.
Been quiet here. Attended funeral for my sister in law's mother yesterday. Long day, and at the cemetary her father had a medical issue, had to call an ambulance for him. He stopped breathing, but paramedics got him stabilized and brought to a local hospital. He's in his mid 90's and not in the best of health, and his wife's death hit him hard. Haven't gotten an update on him, yet, this morning. Tomorrow I have a memorial service for my son in law's grandmother. Hope that's it for a while. I'm not good at these things.
They're saying it's supposed to be in the 60's here for the weekend. It will be nice to be able to open a few windows and get the house aired out!
Safe travels over the weekend, Betty. Enjoy your company, Karen. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
Hello Everyone!!
Oh my gosh, I am nearly complete with the great clean up!!
Sighing though because everything from Jake's room is now occupying each of those rooms...Finally his room is being gutted!
Oh my gosh, its almost 60 today! Beautiful Day for sure...
lets see, So Pegasus is in the great room across from the brat Flo. Whoa that little feather ball was so upset, just screaming and b(*&&&% up a storm, I had to remove her. Today she is fine...
...update, The General is in a Rehap facility, has been for a very long time...Alzheimer. Mrs. General moving to a Retirement Village.
You have to excuse me while I burst out Laughing. Shaking my head, she is moving to the same Village our Cuz' Joyce and Lynda live!!! Hahah, I warned Joyce when I talked to her. They sold their house in 3 days! The new family is young, 2 small children. They have not moved in yet but have been coming periodically.
so I'm going to post this and take a smoke break, lol yes a smoke break, outside!!
Glad everyone is on the mend..
Deb, seems that at that age when losing a spouse they just give up, let's hope he is doing better today. Does he live in a facility or at home? When again are the pups due? HVe to ask Sharon when here's will be born, close to same time as yours.
Dianne, did you find the MRI closterphobic? I said I'd rather go with the illness than do one again when entire body had to be scanned..no like..glad you are having great weather, excellent time to stock up on wood before the March storms arrive and they will but winter will soon be a thing of the past and we will all be talking about our gardens etc.
Judy, having visited you several times I can picture exactly where the photo's have been taken, yep,lots of work has been done..smoke break??? Shaking my finger.
Verona, ON
No Betty the MRI doesn't bother me at all. I just sort of go into a zen zone. The tech mentioned when it was all over "you've done this before haven't you ?" This was #15 MRI for me since 2009.
Chuckled about the birds Judy. They sure can make a racket. I need to clear out the boiler room. That is where W kept all his 'stuff'. Having to have service workers in there this last 2 weeks made me really look around. This is when I miss having a pick up. I will have to borrow one.
Betty - I shouldn't tell you this, but you DO know that there are 2 ways to behave, right? Well...... and Badly lol I ain't a-gonna tell you which one you should behave as - you're a big girl, you figure it out LMAO
I actually SLEPT last night! I propped my head up about the way the hospital beds do - halfway up, and propped my legs up, too. I think it's the position where I am held in one place and not moving freely around, so not twisting and waking myself up in pain. Anyway, I slept 5 1/2 hours, went back to sleep & slept a further 3 hours!! wow! Feeling much more like myself. I also took an iron supplement, as I tend to get low on my iron. Mid-Jan they told me to go off iron, that I was fine, but I think the surgery likely drained me. I know I get anemic - it's a medical fact.
Anyway, off for my walk :-D
Dianne - you're right, he's a keeper, for sure.
