Whoa .. is this a new page ?
I had posted pics, but, will re post ..
Came lookin for Betty .. next thing we know she'll be saying she is home :-)
These 2 pics are from my Aunt's bday 'do' today .. I'm the old white haired lady standing up LoL
My cousins beside me .. Jocelyn and David .. Anderson being held by Mom Meredith, Jocelyn is her Mom .. Seated, my Aunt Gladys and, family friend Pat ..
Best/Worse/What did I Learn Today?chat with friends new/old!
Betty - those are beautiful pictures! I envy you being able to travel to such lovely, interesting, and historical places. It's been about 17 years since Bob & I traveled to anywhere other than camping, just for the sheer joy of visiting other cities.
Today our Yard Sale was partially rained out. In the middle of it we had to tarp everything over but started up again after 1 1/2 hours.
Our helpers have gone home and Bob & I are about to have dinner. Not sure what, but maybe pancakes.
oh my....... Thunder... we were waiting until the rain stopped long enough to pack up, and Bob's off to Lowe's........ yikes!
My knees are really hurting, but I guess I'd better bust a move and get out there with boxes to pack up.......
Good to see you're almost home Betty.
That covered bridge is in the area where DH has family .. when they emigrated from Scotland in the late 1800s, the family settled in Quebec, some later moved west to TBay .. beautiful area in the fall with the leaves changing ..
Susan .. sorry to hear about the bad weather raining on your yard sale .. we have finally gotten awesome weather with temps in the mid 70s .. had dinner on the patio last night ..
Cemetery day today .. not only was it my Aunts 101st bday yesterday, but, 12 years since my brother, George, passed .. want to water the flowers at my parents plot and, Lorna wants to check on her 'pretties' ..
Going to be a gorgeous day
Enjoy
~M~
Wonderful trip Betty... The pictures are great.
Sorry about the rain Susan. Hope you didn't lose anything.
Getting out for a ride today. Been a long week inside from the heat.
Beautiful pictures Betty, looks like you are enjoying your trip.
Beautiful photos Betty, makes we want to do that drive again!
Sorry to hear you were rained out of part of your yard sale, Susan.
Hope you have a nice outing today, Barb!
Weather is perfect here this morning, low 70's and sunny! So many things to do, I don't know where to start.
Have a great day, ladies!!
not totally rained out - after about 1 1/2 hours we pulled the tarp off and started selling again.
Evening all, just home
Tired girl, will sleep better I'm sure in my own bed...
Welcome home Betty. Sweet dreams!
Welcome Home, Betty!
really nice job you're doing, Debbie! I"ll bet it's nice to get it done. It's looking beautiful
Welcome back Betty :-)
No place like home !
Debbie love the colour of the new floor (s) .. it's a big job, but, worth it .. I have 'heavily suggested' the project to DH, but, never got a positive vibe ..
HOT here again yesterday, headed for the same again today .. hopefully this bunch of heat will take off .. mind you, right now (6am) it's only 54F.
Sharon .. how are you doing, and Vern and the furries .?
Judy? Still landscaping ?
Dianne .. how's the back and the vertigo and the TH ?
Karen, when's the wedding ?
DS and DGS are coming over today to help with the wood ..
DGD is again AWOL with her boyfriend :-(
Hope y'all have a perfect week ..
~M~
Judy went to Sturgis. I don't know if she is back home or not.
Love the floors Debbie.
I'm not staying until the wedding Marilynne, it's not til the 24th of Sept. Then another DGD the following week. I'll be back for it though.
DGD here's surgery is Thurs. I'll probably head home early next week as I have company coming the next week-end. Don't see my self getting much sewing time in any time soon.
The shower was very nice and Em loved the tree skirt & ornaments.

Morning,
No doubt Karen that the bride to be loved your home crafted gift..will be an heirloom..lots of miles you will be putting on that new vehicle. Prayers for DGD, know you want to be there for her.
Hoping it's not too hot for Judy at Sturgis
Barb nice to hear weather is breaking so you can go out for outings..am sure you are looking forward to fall.
Deb, love your new floors..now that you are an expert you can come do mine..goal before end of year. Bet you are just sitting admiring them, big change for sure...could you not have resanded the existing ones, bet they too would have been spectacular
"m" it warms my hearts hear you speak of family togetherness, things are going good then? so sorry to hear hat the situation is still going on with our granddaughter..
Lindakay, weather a bit cooler for you? How are the gardens doing, burnt??
When do your grandchildren go back to school, earlier than ours? Hard to think kids will be in school and summer over in next few weeks, almost over..not sure but think our exhibition starts this weekend.
Slept in till 8am, moving slowly, no work as mom had it all done for when I got home..have had the hose running though seeing gardens have taken a toll this past week re heat and no rain..sod I put under gazebo completely burnt ..not sure if one waters almost dead sod if it will come back??
Mom is staying until tomorrow, she is off to aunt Muriel's this morning liking over going to Buffalo this weekend, I booked a room but now because of price they are wondering if going late September/early October..almost hoping they say October as I've done so many miles that staying home wouldn't hurt my feelings.
Glad to hear you got a good nights sleep Betty. Yes gardens are pretty much done. Not much blooming in this heat, and no end in site for the 100+ temps.
Kids go back to school end of August.
Same time as ours
Sad, with so much effort put into the gardens that heat cut their flowering season to pretty much nil.
BIG HUGS welcome home Betty .. I hear you on the mileage factor ..I hope your Mom wants to wait as well.
Hmm .. I think some of the kids in the States are back already? I think Karen's DGs are in TN ..
All the back to school sales are on up this way
Murray and Austin and Austin's friend, Christopher.. came over,and, within 90 minutes the wood was stacked !!!
Was SO nice to see them all ..
Sadly, Brooklyn is still misbehaving, and, is not at home .. she is with her BF, and, as you can imagine we worry about all sorts :-(
Just want to SHAKE her !!
Betty, once sod goes down, it has to be soaked and soaked some more for several days .. I learned that from Lorna as the cemetery uses hundreds of pieces a year .. if its 'silvery', it's likely dead ..
High 80s with humidity here .. a slight breeze ..
TTFN
~M~
Welcome home Betty. Glad to read you got some rest. I imagine you are road weary now and will welcome being home for a while.
Floors look fantastic Debbie. I really like them.
Catching up with some neglected housework. When it is as hot as it has been, my energy goes right out the window. It has been a bit cooler the last couple of days but we are headed right back to the heat again.
Trying to get enough energy to go out and cut grass now that it's cooler..didn't do it before I left on trip so it's long.
Yes Barb, weary indeed, likely take me all week to recoup.. Housework can wait Barb..are you all organized now? How has norm found working in this heat?
Dianne, you ok??
Went out with mom this afternoon then bought Swiss chalet as take out for supper, just finished eating and chesterfield looks comfy..what to Suso what to do lol
Mom is going home in the morning, girls come tomorrow so I will be zonked by mid afternoon.
Betty .. I was wrong about the sod .. Lorna says just water it til it is soaked, and, water it again, and again ..
Night night :-)
~M~
Thanks "M" and Lorna, watered it off/on all day, gave it a good soaking..while out shopping I bough lawn food so with luck I'll save it. The sod near pond is doing wee so not a big thing if I end up replacing it.
Mom had the chills and went to bed so I went out and cut the grass , tomorrow I'll do the trimming, shouldn't have to do it again until the weekend
Deb how are the doggies doing? Still doing shows? Still hurting, any more doctor appointments
Haven't heard from Sharon for awhile, wonder how she and Vern are doing.
Know Susan is packing lol
Sharon is here, just been having a horrific time what's the worst sciatica I have ever had. I was doing so well after my back surgery that I got a little cocky. I was laying in bed and then getting out of bed I flipped my inner leg over my other leg to get out of bed. Big time pain and that was five weeks ago and I think it's finally started to heal.
Vern is doing well, His weight is down to 130 but he is eating well. He is 5'10" so you know at 130 he is skin and bones. He is getting up twice a day from the wheelchair and walking with the walker. That is not being done on his own, that with the encouragement from his wonderful wife. No reason he should be walking and I've given up waiting for him to try, I now have a whip.
We have had a very hot summer, High of 115 currently today's high was 107 and we will go down 1° a day until Friday and then go back up 107. I now remember why I left Vegas the first two weeks of August to go to San Diego to the beach. Tracy, My daughter come and her family are leaving Friday for a week at the beach at Newport.
She has brought dinner every night to get out of hospital which is about 41/2 months ago. So I am on my own for dinner for week but I think I can manage, Especially if the sciatic is taking a hike. We shall soon see.
Betty your trip wore me out just reading about it. I could not drive or ride that long. But I'm sure you had a great time with your friends and that's what it's all about. You need to hire somebody to mow your lawn, you are too old to be mowing lawn, you should be sitting on your veranda having a lemonade while somebody else mows your lawn.
Susan good luck with your move. Moving date is moving up on you quickly and I am looking forward to you being in your new area and happy.
Marilyn, I am so glad you're DS and GDS are back in your lives. Just puts a big smile on my face. Love the picture you posted on Facebook of yourself and you're relatives. You looked wonderful. Love your bike and your flowers.
Debbie, the difference in the floors was unbelievable and I am sure you are so happy with the new floors. How are you feeling. Miss seeing your smiling face on here, I do lurk just about every day that was not in the mood to post. Because I was sure you didn't want hear me bitch.
Karen your trip sounded wonderful and I can guarantee your granddaughter will treasure that tree skirt for the rest of her life and probably handed down to one of her daughters.
Barbara I am with you on the heat, it just never gives up. Here we have a dry heat the when it gets to be 115 I don't care how dry it is it is still hot ask Linda in Texas she knows about heat and that poor girl has the humidity.
Linda I need to send you some of my plants because they are still growing and blooming their heads up. I do use a lot of mulch but like my hearty hibiscus they bloom even if it's only for four or five hours, in the bloom wilts. The other day when it was rainy and overcast the hearty hibiscus blooms lasted all day. They have a new flower out now called summer snapdragon by
Proven winners and they have bloomed all summer in the open sun with no shade.
Just wanted you all to know I was still alive and I should be on here more now that we think my sciatic has calmed down. God bless pain pills. I will start weaning down tomorrow to to see if the pain is gone. Wish me luck.
Hugs to you all, sorry I missed someone, Sharon
Hi all - it's a challenge, packing when you're not really packing. Sounds odd, I know, but let me explain......
We are leaving non-breakables in the cupboards, jammed in, and either shrink wrapping, or taping the doors shut (dependent on if it's a free-standing cupboard and if we can secure the door with with a tie or not). We get to keep our furniture, appliances and one level of boxes in our home, for the move. Packed items in our china cabinet and laid the cabinet on its side.
Had a friend helping me "pack" today, and she really wanted to help, but was confirming and asking me, constantly..... I was bouncing up and down and running around all the time. Not good on the knees. I truly don't know how to pack this way - it's so strange.....
Ah well, Monday @ 8am the home mover will be here to take our home away, and tomorrow, the lads are coming to take down the rest of the deck, porch & den (when we get the porch & den cleared out....... siiiiigh)
Dogs are doing fine. Heading to Ohio on Thursday for shows. I will be meeting up with a friend of mine from Florida, who will take Bonnie back with her and show her for a while. I was told I'll not be running for a while, so this way she'll still get shown.
Arthroscopic surgery on my knee scheduled for Aug 19th, have an appt with the doc on the 16th to go over everything. It's really not hurting much now, but I was told that without the surgery arthritis will form in that area more quickly.
Next week at this time you'll be in your new place, Susan! A lot to get done in a short time, but it will be good to have this new start. So happy for you.
Sharon, so sorry to hear you hurt your back, I am sending prayers it has healed completely.
Your gardens are beautiful. I don't have any hibiscus. Yours are so pretty.
Susan, don't forget to get your utilities and water shut off before they move that home.
Bev, I hope your surgery goes well.
Our Hibiscus this year was so so .. I think I have a pic .. I think ... :-)
Anyway .. over the last 2 weeks, it seems ?something? has decided to devour both plants .. spraying them with soapy water to see if that helps any ..
We have a conundrum with our corn .. it's all tassled, the tassles are dark, but, the cobs are NOT filling out??
Anyone have any knowledge re this ?
Going to be a scorcher here today .. BUT .. the last one .. then the temps go back to the 70s :-)
Sharon, wishing you all the best with the pain .. sure is not pleasant living with chronic pain ..
Bev (who I have called Deb) I too wish you the best re your surgery .. hope Bonnie does well ..
Rest a bit Betty ..
Clothes to hang out
Toodles
~M~
Sharon & Everyone, thank you for the comments on floor.
Betty, we had a professional in, he said NO WAY can the floors be redone. The home built in 1920's and that is original floor, they were BAD. Upstairs just as bad.
Put the engineered hardwood downstairs, and the vinyl snap laminate upstairs that looks just like hardwood but is vinyl.
Betty, the big fair is starting in Hamburg this coming week, might be the rise in rooms. Some other things coming around but can't remember what it is. My brain hurts.
Looking forward to DH going back to work tomorrow, he needs the rest. lol
LOL Debbie. I imagine Paul is ready to go back to work for sure.!!!!
Betty, Norm is able to be in and out of his AC van most of the time and if he has to enter a building, most of them have AC too. He says he doesn't mind the temps too much until they hit the mid 90s.
Been to the pulmonologist and back already this morning. 40 miles one way and I am happy to say I felt well enough to drive myself. Norm met me there as he is working in that area today. I always like him there as I tend to miss things the Dr. has to say. He is very soft-spoken and I'm getting really deaf!!!! Good check-up!
Today is clean up the quilt room/office/bedroom. Must start in one corner and make my way around the room!!! Needs things put away and dusting done.
~~~~ Waving hello to all and hoping you are staying comfortable....
My name is Deb, M. Not sure where the Bev came from. It's going to be hard leaving Bonnie, I'll really miss her, but not sure how soon I'll be good enough to show her, and there are some big shows coming up.
Deb, how wonderful you have someone who will take Bonnie and show her..special breed of people those show people are..am sure you would do same if someone was in same position. Takes a bit for you to get on your feet, nice you won't fret that Bonnie is missing out on points.
Debbie, fair but not the craft show right? Think it's the time of year..I booked weekend of September 17th mom's birthday to bring her. The upgrades are lovely..I have the vinyl such as you used upstairs in my craft room, easy to care for.
Barb, bet you are pleased you can now drive...nice to have an extra ear out for when doc's go over your file. I'm like you, I have a zillion things to ask and forget to ask 1/2 of them. Besides, likely Norm wants to make sure he knows exactly what you can and cannot do.
Lovely hibiscus "M' lost mine due to heat.. Won't get cooler here until next week and not much cooler..next 3 days it will hit 100 counting in humidex. Do you get breakfast television on cable, know Dianne does, they are suppose to have Frankie flowers talk about a new kind of grass (seed) that needs little water, have to watch that..to be one day this week.
Susan, not many more sleeps, soon it will be over, fresh start and well worth the hard work..you both must be exhausted.
Sharon, sciatic, mega painful..what tremendous amount of pain you must be living with. Glad it's subsided, doesn't take much does it for it to return? You must watch you don't aggravate it with lifting or moving wrong way. Too bad you couldn't get away,mguess it would be hard for Vern. Lordy, got to fatten Vern up.
As usual your flowers are spectacular..sad when I see my flowers, big sigh, perhaps next year they will be in bloom longer.
"M", corn doesn't grow well in high temps. After 100 degrees, it stops growing and gets deformed. Here in Texas it is grown and picked by July. If it is not too hot they can get a 2ND crop, but not too often.
Betty I bet you were sure glad to sleep in your own bed.. Love the photos.
Chaos had a midnight party but didn't invite Diesel and I. He had a blast if all the mess I saw when I got up. He got a pillow and ripped it to shreds.Plus I thought I had the newspapers up out of his reach. Nope they were all ripped like confetti Both Diesel and Chaos love cloth and paper to chew on.
Dianne
naughty Chaos....... living up to his name, eh? lol
LoL .. Lilly is our 'shredder' .. Kleenex and magazines only though hahahaha .. gotta love those puppers ..
Thanks for the hint re the corn LK .. Gord picked 2 cobs yesterday, WAY too early, so, we will just wait ..Temps are back down into the 70s now starting today ..
Off n running today ..
Enjoy your day
~M~
86 feeling like 97 today so I'm up and at it, going to water seeing watering day is even number of house...get what needs to be done outside done before the heat.
What a mess you had to clean Dianne, bet Chaos just sat and watched you knowing he had done wrong...are you on east or west side of Kingston? Did wave to you and Thea.
"m" I bought peaches and cream corn yesterday..was delicious...we sure are going to pay for fruit and veggies this winter
Worked on a bag yesterday, crazy way of making one, need handles and zipper so can't finish it today..Drats
Morning everyone. Going to be another scorching day, but they are predicting rain starting Sunday and for most of next week. I will believe it when I see it.
