Best/Worse/What did I Learn Today?chat with friends new/old!
Morning all,
84 feeling like 95 today with chance of rain..muggy
Dianne and "M" my policy arrived yesterday, old one ends aug 31, increase of almost $78...should call to see what has changed, their mumble jumble is beyond me..house insurance ends at same time so am sure it will be here shortly and an increase as well..thought the boat was on with the car but maybe listed on house policy, best I check that out.
Karen, how you must feel violated after all these years of feeling safe and now having to rethink locking everything up. sure can't replace some oft..
Thoughts are with you today Deb..anxious to hear that the operation is over and you are on the road to recovery..
Susan, there are no words..perhaps they should have temporarily put 2x4's for support..hot tub, well easily dealt with but home buckling, oh my..what will you do now?
"m" big sigh..good you got it off your chest, wether or not she will listen to it is another thing.
Amazing Lindakay that you are not allergic to the dogs, blessing though..think Debbie is but endures it as to have her furries around her.
Thinking of travelling to cookstown this afternoon, want to see what is new in the line of quilting patterns at the fabric shop..wanted to take Linda out for belated birthday supper but she is not sure if she and Dave are off to the city for a visit with friends so I'll wait to hear from her.
Drats, Darlene was here visiting yesterday and I mentioned I had to go to staples for ink cartridges, she mentioned buying them at Walmart, Walmart brand, $50 + dollars and when out in copier it says I need to replace cartridges so maybe they aren't as compatible as they say Grrr
Breakfast time
Enjoy your day
Morning everyone. Itchies are doing good so far today.
Glad to hear you gave her the what for.
Betty, most printers require the brand of ink for your printer. Most generic brands will not work.
Still raining here. We have had almost 5 inches this past week. But temps are still in the mid 80's in the afternoon, A bit humid sometimes but not too bad.
Morning all.
Betty is there not a place that will refill your ink cartridges at a very low price..
Nice out there right now. It was 77* on the lake side deck at 11 pm. Rain is supposed to be in the cards.
Was so glad to see Mary post on FB that La Divina is open. Sure hope she has flood insurance.
Wow Betty your friend Darlene found a new paramour quickly. I am not throwing shade on her I am very happy for her. I think you and I had such terrific husbands there would be such big shoes to fill. Plus we are so damn independent and not afraid to tackle any job. Speaking of which I need to go see about a battery charged chain saw. I love my battery run trimmer and weed whacker.
Concerned about Chaos he is acting a little strange this morning . Doesn't want his breakfast, nor his milk bone biscuits. He's a Rottie they NEVER turn down food or treats.
Still no email access .... I might want to take the dreaded computer into Chad and let him have a look see. I have suck a love/hate relationship with mine.
M I am glad you left a message for your GD on her phone. Even if she doesn't listen to it she knows you care enough to call her. I feel bad for Murray within all of this.
I must look at the flyers and see if anyone has butter on sale. I had several blocks in the freezer and haven't bought any since before Warren died.Good to know butter will last a long time if frozen. I almost had a heart attack in the dairy aisle yesterday .... butter was $6.99.
Judy love the pictures. Looking forward to more. Now don't you tell me that at Sturgis you were 1 of those naughty girls that dance nearly nude on the bars. You don't want to give Betty any ideas !!!
BBL Dianne and her TH
Dianne, I sure hope Chaos is feeling better soon.
WOW! that is a lot of money for butter. It is about $3.00 here.
Dianne - how's Chaos now? I'm sure that rotties never turn down food!!
We slept in our own bed last night - cleared a path. Felt better for it. Went out and put some patio chairs & cushions up and that took some stuff out of the home. Feeling better about the clutter... we can move around now.
Bob's off to Olds, to get a water line coupler so we can fix the plumbing on the outside. The electrician never showed, so we're still relying on our neighbours for electricity. It's cool inside, but the sun is glorious.
Dianne, I had to use Google Earth to see just where you were, I'm curious that way.
Susan at least you are in the right place now. Hoping all falls into it's proper niche so you and Bob can settle down to some peach. I'd call another electrician if possible. I don't understand business people who are so careless of their customers.
Gosh Susan .. is the home safe to occupy?
Bcrfl ..
Karen .. Google Earth and me, NOT a match made in heaven LoL
I can find ME :
Phoned DGD again .. gave her another 'attitude adjustment' .. via her answering device ..
BF parents had the plates removed from his truck .. so .. she is now trying to get 'her' car back from Murray .. the one she rolled and he spent $1600. to have repaired !!
He is not budging, so, they are 'on foot' ? Who the heck knows .. quite worrisome ..
I am flabbergasted at her cheek !!! So NOT Brooklyn ..
Karen .. was anyone 'odd' seen around the area, like your ex tenants ?
Awful to lose heirlooms ..
Dianne, perhaps the heat has Chaos down .. our guys are not PERKY today ..
Butter at the Superstore here is $3.67 No Name Brand .. but, Lactantia butter is over $6. !!
LK .. good to hear the hives are doin okay ..
BBL
~M~
Glad to hear Murray put his foot down, and did not let them take the truck!
M I too am so happy that Murray put his foot down. Hopefully your DIL will not go behind Murray's back and say it is OK for Brooklyn to use the car. Hopefully your DS has hid the keys somewhere no one would think to look or better still on his body.
Karen I was chuckling about you looking for Verona on Google. We are a very small village although today when I was in the village it was very busy. Wooo Hooo our local stores sure need the business.
Thanks for your concern for Chaos. He just ate half a milk biscuit, normally he would have 4 or 5 in a day. He is limping favouring his right rear leg. Of course my mind is going bananas as limping is 1 of the signs of Lymes. he and Duke had quite a game of tussle this morning and I hadn't seen the limp till after their game was over.
Took Chaos with me and of course Diesel had to come too but Karen's talk of fishing gear reminded me of something down where we had our old dock. One of Warren's favourite lures (a hula popper) is still up in a tree where he cast it about 10 years ago. I thought I had heard the beavers working away and sure enough they are almost clear cutting a section down by the lake. The little devils unwrap the wire I have on the tree bases - there was wire fencing everywhere.
I'll post later on FB in a bit Karen but a friend of mine thought the great grands pic was my idea. I don't know if it was your idea but I think it is an excellent.
Nothing like sleeping in your own bed Susan. Glad you're moved.
Hot, stifling hot here. The TH have gone to their floor vent. Rather 2 of the 3 are laying over the vents. Duke put himself in his crate. He knew he was wrong and also knew I was quite angry with him.
Dianne and her TH
Sure hope Chaos is feeling better soon.
Other neighbors lost stuff too. There is one place between us and it's a weekly rental. That's where their suspicions lie. I don't know and it really doesn't matter stuff is gone.
Chaos ate about 1/2 of what he usually does for dinner. M might be right and it is the heat that is getting to him. We've spent most of the day inside.
Just saw a news clip showing that our hydro bill if you have central air and a fee hike will be very high. Aren't we lucky M and Betty ? I can't remember if I told you this but when we got the first bill for this house I was expecting it to be high but no where near what we were assessed. I said to Warren we can't live in this house if that is what hydro is going to be every month. I called them and they had assessed our new home as a cottage which has a much higher rate. I had already called them and spoke to someone who assured me that we would be assessed as a permanent home. I had to pay the bill and they would credit me for a couple of months.
Our local farmers are tearing their hair out. They haven't even got a second haying done as nothing is growing. Corn will be expensive as they are at about 50% of their normal height. Some of the beef farmers are selling off cows that they normally use to expand their herd. Most of the usual places they get their water from for the animals are dry. Plus farmers who usually have enough hay for their herd and sell off what is left will have to buy hay this year.
Well I am going to look in the fridge and see if something is calling my name.
Later folks,
Dianne and her TH
Just checking in before the next pain pill takes effect. I guess all went well, but it sure hurts right now. He removed the meniscus tears and shaved down a bone spur. Dogs are not happy that they can't sleep with me!
Deb
Deb sure hoping tomorrow is a better day, sleep well.
Sleep well Deb. Of course the dogs are not happy. How long will you be off work ?
Looking for Sharon's sleep angels tonight.
D
Deb - how long will you be off work? Glad to hear you've gotten procedure done.
Dianne - glad to hear Chaos is eating something. Maybe it is the heat, as was said.
Settling into the place - have more room to move around. Bob's gone to Calgary for 2 days, to clear out the other lot. I'm doing some settling in here, and finding "homes" for things. At least I know where things belong lol
We have electricity now (called another electrician who was more reliable....
Gas fitter and tv/phone reps will be here Monday, to set up.
For now, we have a microwave, internet and lights, so all's good.
Deb, I know you probably spent a fitful night .. be faithful to the pain meds today, and ice and elevate the knee.
What we all don't go through trying to heal ourselves ..
Hope you found something to eat Dianne .. like you I tend to head for the cereal ..
How's Chaos today?
Betty, how's the cold? Is your Mom feeling any better?
Susan .. what's the procedure for fixing the buckled walls? I keep hoping it's safe to be inside .. when I was a child, we had a garage with a buckled wall .. after a snowfall, and not a big one, it collapsed .. my Dad had nothing precious in there .. but still, it was sure a surprise !!
DUMP day today .. DH is at another gun show, here in the city .. he was gone by 7am for breakfast with the guys .. then the show starts at, I think 9am ..
Our local 'Fair' starts here in Murillo today, BUT, looks like we are going to have rain :-(
Enjoy your weekend
~M~
PS
I have 2 LARGE blade steaks, I am going to 'stack them' in the slow cooker, like a 'pretend roast' .. and sprinkle the Au Jus and Ranch drsg on top with butter ..
Is it 4 hours on LOW ??
Darned brain fog LoL
~M~
Morning all,
Sky is heavy this morning, calling for rain, humid, another stay inside kind of day.
Deb, thanks for posting, for sure you will be in mega pain over the next while then you will be running circles around those dogs.
Susan didn't see your reply about the buckling of the trailer..seeing you are working at finding a home for all your wares I'm thinking some repair is needed but you are able to live in it..lots of work ahead for you and Bob and just think, thanksgiving and Christmas will be special this year,in your own home.
Karen, you feeling better?
Dianne, think chao's is suffering from the heat..noticed a big change in Missy's eating habits. Haven't heard too much about how our farmers are faring but likely same as yours. Just got my hydro bill yesterday, consumption is about same as winter time, was $156 last month..not sure why gas was $58 when usually near $100 but I will take it. My Rogers package expires this month so I'd best call them today and see what they have to offer..yep, all utilities are going up and up, no fun.
Went to cookstown yesterday afternoon, picked up some fabric (batiques) bought a pattern kit of Canadian flag done with batiques, spectacular design, paid for it but they are on back order..LINDA said she would pick it up when it comes in..
Took Linda and Dave out for supper as a belated birthday gift for Linda, then headed to midland where I became very frustrated with Walmart..Grrr So full day, beat when I got home.
"M" just ran down to foodland and bought chicken breasts, roast and yellow beans, they had small roasts, portioned for one so bought a few..freezer is full or I'd have bought a few turkeys, 99 cents lb..said self, time to eat what is in the refrigerator freezer and small chest freezer before being more
Sending prayers for a speedy recovery Deb.
Still raining here. So far it is soaking in, but we had flood warnings for the low creek areas.
Home is safe to live in. Walls aren't so much buckled as drywall is cracked (hence the "buckled" comment). The tub surround separated from the wall, and will need to be replaced. None of the flooring, including the tile, is cracked. We were told that drywall, even in new homes will have damage simply because it's inflexible. Mobiles aren't made to be drywalled but people do, because they are staying awhile, as opposed to panelling which shifts more easily between the pieces.
The damage is repairable - just have to slit the drywall & re-patch. Wek'll get a new but surround, too. Tiles and such didn't break, but we're replacing some anyway- we have all the supplies for that.
Are you in a low creek area Lindakay..sure hope you don't get damage.
Susan, that is good news, then I'd say the move went well...can't expect an older unit to make such a move without some damage.
No sooner finished my last post did I get a call from Maurice, mpjanome machine I brought in for servicing Tuesday was ready for pick up, he and wife were going away for a few days so quick run into town.
Dropped in to reuse it centre and found 4 glass fixtures perfect for the glass birdfeeders I make, hopefully without then cracking..$1.00 each so not a big deal if they do
Will make a bit samdwhich for lunch then go play in craft room
sandwiches sound good lol
I'm going to have to get the griddle down and make bacon and eggs.
btw - one really good thing about the move - our home is More level here - we have a gravel pad, not dirt as they had in the last place (built in the '60's).
Talking to ADT about our acc't - removing rooms and homes is kinda strange to them and they're not sure what to do about us having moved our building lol
What is ADT Susan?
Been playing cut outs, relaxing, rain is holding out, great for all those having festivals today
We are pretty safe here Betty. No flooding yet.
Glad to hear your home is repairable Susan.
ADT is our home protection service - also known as Protectron / Reliance
