Best/Worse/What did I Learn Today?chat with friends new/old!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am thinking of coming to Michigan, but probably just for a few days? Not for sure when.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lindakay, long trip for just a few days..last time you visited it was late summer I think, then you took a few extra days to visit with us in frankenmuth which we so enjoyed.

Had company all morning, think it's the staying in jammies that bring them in.

Kyle dropped in, moving September 1st, house is 15 minutes away, he is looking forward to it..close the ski hills, central to his and her work, told him I'd miss him dropping in, he reminded me that he loves to drive, not to worry he would see me.

Greg dropped in, off golfing with Jeff and a few friends, got all caught up in family happenings..was nice.

Now that it's almost lunch is it worth getting dressed? Off to get a cup of neocitrin

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Last night I heard that a dear friend of ours passed away - had been married for 63 years.... her hubby will be lost without her. Walter is blind. Good think is that their grown daughters are in Calgary, one married with a daughter of her own. They have a lot of support too with Church & friends......
Mary cared so much for others, not the least of them are ourselves. Such a gentle soul......

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty it was mid October we met in Frankenmuth. I remember because it was hubby's cannon week-end.
Linda if you are going to Grand Rapids, it's only 2 1/2 hours from me.
Hugs Susan on the loss of your friend.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Thank you, Karen. She's going to be SO missed by the church, family & friends (and she had a lot of them, sweet gentle soul that she was).

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Been raining since about 4am .. stopped now .. we may scoot out for a bit ..

DGD is not home .. DS is getting frantic .. with the stress of his job, and this added stress I worry ..
I'd like to shake her so I would !

Love the Hallowe'en themed piece Betty .. favourite time of year :-)

LK, nice you're thinking of going north ...

PS Karen, how are you feeling?

Victoria Harbour, ON

We've got a heavy rain, thundering big time, hope Greg and Jeff are off the golf course..

Susan sorry to hear about your friend..always heartbreaking to lose a friend.

"m" heart goes out to you all..emotional roller coaster for sure. Starting to have as much Halloween decor as I do Christmas..told Kyle amd Brianna I'd go through Christmas decorations and give them some..she is allergic to pine so imitation it will be..think I will look for a small tree when they come out for sale and get them one, maybe I will see one on sale when I'm in Buffalo next month..

I dropped into a few stores while in Barrie yesterday, all fall/Halloween goodies are out.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Karen - are you feeling better?

Thank you, Betty - Mary was the heart & soul of Renfrew Church.......
A big piece of me has gone with her, but I have cherished memories of her, always.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Some people touch you that way..am sure she will be missed by many.

Karen, still thinking of heading home Monday?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear the loss of your friend Susan. Sending prayers for all.

Karen, I hope you are feeling better.

Betty, and Karen, I will let you know if I get to Michigan, It would be nice meeting up again.

We had rain last night, about an inch, and today the humidity is bad. Can hardly breathe outside.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Rain has stopped, some areas had tornado warnings, now called off so that is a good thing.

Mom called, said she was still feeling poorly, worse she has ever felt..goes Monday to get results of her tests.

Hacking like the dickens, better when I don't talk soooo one good thing about living alone lol

Let me know, when you make flight arrangements Lindakay

Was on west jet checking flights at Christmas..was just about to book then Kyle came in so now I have to start fresh..perhaps in the morning I'll sum up more energy and do it

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Feeling some better. Just having fat free broth every few hours. Looks like we will be heading up on Mon. but make it a two day trip.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Will be a long trip for you, taking 2 days will help...bet you are anxious to be home..you've done so much travelling this year even thoughyou've been unwell, perhaps it's time you rest a big, build up strength..worry about you...all the little ones home or do you still have young visitors?

Thinking of having an early night..must check where my so I reader is..so many books loaded it not read.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne and "M" seewhere Oshawa got hit by a tornado (still needs to be confirmed)

Looking out the window it's so bright, a yellow/green, unusual

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Will have my cousin and some of his family next weekend. I always enjoy him coming.
The worst right now is the cold I picked up. Doing what I can to get my pancreas happy again. Just drinking fat free broth and water. A few days of that should fix me up.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Praying for all those in the path of the tornado.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Thank you, LK

Karen - glad to hear you're feeling somewhat better - hope you're better again, soon.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Hugs and prayers for everyone not feeling up to par ..
Add me to the list :-(
My arthritis in my neck is kicking up .. hard to do anything, just want to lay down ..
Doubtless this situation with Brooklyn is part and parcel .. she has simply dropped off the face of the earth ..
Left her ID, purse and car at home, and is gone ..
Told Murray today he should call the police .. he has a few friends on the force ..
Very disconcerting . ..

Oshawa ! Holy cow ! Have a friend who lives there .. don't hear from her often, will have to send her an email ..

Karen .. you will have to watching your diabetes closely with your pancreas acting up .. hope the trip home is a good one ..

Betty, were you booking a flight to florida? Hope you're feeling better as well ..

DH brought blueberries home with him, should get some dough mixed up and make a pie or two ..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

"M", I hope he calls the police soon, and she is found safe and sound.

Been raining here for a fee days now, and I love the cooler temps. Humidity is not too bad right now.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Hoping Murray calls the police too. I'm wondering though if they can do anything if she is found. Can they force her to go home? It's a heart breaking situation for all concerned.

I'm basically only having the broth now, drinking some every few hours. Water in between.

Victoria Harbour, ON

A must, urge Murray to call police asap..starting to be a dangerous situation..once they get off the grid, to trail to follow it makes it difficult..big sigh, such a worry for you all..sending prays along with warm hugs for you "M"

Sunshine today, still muggy but that is ok

Taking a neocitrin, must go to town and get meds as the ones I'm taking are taking long time to work, besides, Chinese. For supper sounds good.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

*Hugs* Marilynne, to you, Murray and the rest of the family.
Here's hoping the DGD comes home. I don't think they can force her to go home, if she's the age of majority...... but leaving all her ID and vehicle........ that's odd, for sure, and the police would be very leery of why she would do this, I'm sure. Murray needs to call the police.

The last of the stuff is being removed from our home, and it's being moved tomorrow!
Going to church this morning, and wondering what I will find when I get back home! Bob & 2 others are working on the outside :-)

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

A 'toasty' Sunday here .. almost 90F,predicted to be that tomorrow, and, higher.

Getting quite a bit of yard work done .. mulch to the base of a few trees,
pruning and the ever popular trimming ..

Hummingbirds are out in full force .. love to see that ..

Busy week on the way .. Lorna is 58 on Wednesday .. she'll take the day off and we'll have Chinese food and cake .. wracking my brain as to what to get her ..

DGD is still not home ..Murray is back to work tomorrow after a weeks holiday that he sorely needed and was spent worrying about her !!!

Hope your out buildings are down and you're ready to take flight tomorrow Susan ..

~M~

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

The out buildings aren't an issue - it's the additions that are attached that have to be removed from the mobile. The out buildings are our sheds, etc and can be demolished afterwards.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Cool morning, and, DARK .. just 53F ... BUT .. it'll go p into the 90s later today ..

Hope all goes well for you today Suan..no 'snafus' ..

How are you Betty and Karen .. Karen I also hope your trip home will be uneventful ..

Dianne, did you get any rain ?

Deb .. your surgery is this week ? All the best.. hope Bonnie got away to Florida.

Waving to everyone ..baking with Barb today :-)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

"m" you are on a cooking spree, likely nerves that is making you want to stay busy,,did you make the blueberry pies? Almost took mine out of the freezer but thought no, I'm putting weight on again and guess who would eat it all.

High of 81 with a feel like 91 here today, low chance of rain, can only hope...so sad about Baton Rouge, Mary said they were safe but wondering how LaDivina is faring?prayers go out for the safety of all, calling it worse that Katrina re damage.

Susan, today is the day, am sure you will be without internet for a few days but we will be waiting to hear how the move went..like "M" hoping their are no snafoo's

Deb will be glad to have this surgery behind her...Deb, how long do they say you will be off work?

Debbie, how are renovations going? I'm still hoping you will come end of September..if you want bring a friend for company..always room for one more.

Sharon, you and Vern are often in my thoughts..

Barb, what are you now working on? Won't be long before you get your quilt back from the quilters, bet it's stunning.

Lindakay, they say that the storm mass in Louisiana is also hitting parts of Texas, not in your area though? You were saying you are getting rain but not torrential? Finally able to get out in the gardens? Did you get your sewing machine out?

Still sniffling and sore throat, can't seem to get rid of this cold..headache today. I've taken it easy all weekend, well almost, I decided to make a kit of the 'my Canada' quilt..I've cut out 6 or 7 blocks, put them in packages..am sure one of the girls will want it, half the work will be done

Plans for today is do a few more blocks and router edges of the 4 wood panels as well as stain...that being said, the photo of the fall piece isn't route red so will have my breakfast and decide to router or not..

That is about it for me
Time for toast

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Raining here, but only a few inches. We were watching the flooding in Louisiana, so sad to see all the damage.
I still have my sewing machine on the table. I have have fabric to make the binding tool star quilt, but trying to find fabric to go for the background squares.
Sure hope you get rid of that cold soon Betty.
Susan, sending lots of good thoughts for your trip today.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I think you'll enjoy making the binding tool star quilt. I really like the one I made as a tree skirt and it' the one I'd like to make for myself.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I'm going to be working on a pillow for the daybed. It will coordinate with the quilt. My quilter isn't due back home until the end of the week so I imagine it will be another week after that before I look for the quilt. I want her to take her time with no pressure.
Started another X-stitch project so that I have some handwork. Must make a couple of hats this week too....

Victoria Harbour, ON

I also enjoyed the binding star..think I made several Xmas ones for table tops and a few Christmas tree skirts, which reminds me, need to start focusing on tree skirts as it soon will be Christmas..I know you say don't go there, just remember I reminded you in August that it was a coming. Lol

What cross stitch pattern are you doing Barb?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, have you thought about our Christmas project for this year?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Girls that come here beat you to it Lindakay...so few of us left didn't think we's do one...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Don't let the few that are left stop you Betty. I for one look forward to doing projects with you and the others.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well then I will have to get my thinking cap on Lindakay!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

:)

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Me too! Me too! Just because my Sean is too "grown up" to do crafts with Gram anymore doesn't mean I won"t!!!!! I'm still in :)

Victoria Harbour, ON

So pleased, this is what our 8th year..must go look

Ordered chicken fingers for supper, missy ate more chicken than I. Lol

I'm one block short. Of completing the 'My Canada' quilt, starting to only have scrappy scraps let over which is a good thing...by the time I finish these ill never want to see same blocks.

Evenings bring on fever so I've chills and bed looks good

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Good morning .. hope everyone slept well ..

I saw on FBook where Susan did hit a snafu .. buy I do think it got worked out, sure hope so.

Hating this weather .. up over 90 again yesterday, and today as well .. DH and I are heading out for groceries and shopping for Lorna for her bday tomorrow ..I haven't a clue :-(
I know she needs some dressy clothes, so, perhaps a gift cert to Penningtons .. Gord is getting her a certificate from Home Hardware so she can buy a 'thing' for her trimmer LoL

I'm tired

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Overloaded trailer, likelihood of it buckling so best Susan didn't take a chance and try and move it, just meant a lot more work with little to no manpower...overwhelming for them for sure.

Well 'M' at least you are getting shopping done early before heat of the day sets in..think best gift ever is vouchers for stores, that way Lorna can pick up what normally she wouldn't want to spend money on..penningtons, great store, maybe she can find an outfit for the wedding if she hasn't already done so..this summer has been a hard one on her, bet she is looking wora add to end of year, October isn't it?

Well it's raining here, oh happy days... a gentle rain, the kind that may last all day.

Girls will be here any time..I've a splitting headache so will join them but if need be off to bed I shall go.

Best I go clean up the mess I've made in the craft room before they get here

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Did I miss someone is getting married?
