Beatuful pics, Betty. I loved Gros Morne when we were there. The entire province is just amazing.
Glad Lilly is OK. Getting meds down these fur kids can sure be a struggle sometimes!
Lots of work ahead of you Susan, but it will sure be nice to get this move behind you!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Off to Doug's - Bob's got the car, so I'm walking. Only 4 blocks, with my walker. Not used to walking so far anymore, but I'll be fine.
Lightly raining, so I expect I'll be soaked by the time I get there........

Victoria Harbour, ON

Brrr talk about cold..almost envy you "M" it's low 50's but high winds

On our way to see the jellybean houses, supper and then to George street which is like Bourbon Street..I will behave myself..promise

Hated to leave Twillingate this morning, 2 bedroom home on the ocean, Lordy it was nice

The photos make me want to go back to Nfld .. loved it ..
Enjoy the ferry back, hope it isn't too chilly ..

We had a high of 37C = 104F .. DH and I spent the better part of the day in the city waiting for the dogs to be groomed .. thank heaven for AC in the car and stores!
Stopped by the cemetery on the way home with a lemonade for Lorna .. she had 2 of the neck coolers on that Betty had made her .. they are her life savers ..
Her truck is always close by, if she needs to rest and cool off she gets in and enjoys some cool down ..
Hoping this weather LEAVES us !!!

How is everyone doing? Sharon, Dianne, Karen, Judy,... just everyone :-)

Have a huge truck load of wood arriving today .. DH and DS and DGS are off to tour some WW II aircraft here on display .. this love of old planes runs in the genes of those 3 :-)

Enjoy your day

Love the pics, Betty. Newfoundland is such a beautiful place.

Really nice, M, that your son is back in touch and going out with his Dad! How is your DGD doing?

Orthopedic doc decided that arthroscopic surgery is the way to go for these meniscus tears. He said they remove the area of the tear, which I don't quite understand, why would you remove something that is protecting the joint, even if there is a tear. I'll ask more when I see him on Aug 16th, but I currently have the surgery scheduled for Aug 19th.

Deb

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. Coloring my hair right now, then off to pay a few bills.

Deb, here is some info on your knee that might help.

Sometimes they can go in and repair the meniscus.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - looks like you're really enjoying your trip. Thanks SO much for sharing pictures. It looks great. Wish I could join you :D

Thanks, LK - good information. I have torn meniscus in both knees, and can attest to the pain. Spurs & osteoarthritis, too. Hoping for knee surgery. Have lost 50% of what the Dr wanted me to lose weight-wise.

We're going to start trimming shrubs & digging them up today - hope to get them into the ground asap, but that calls for going to Torrington asap, too.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Beautiful photos Betty. I'm so looking forward to seeing the others too. You have given me a glimpse of my heritage and I thank you....

Good morning,

Finally have my computer back up and plugged in. DH & I have been putting a new floor in the home since last Thursday. Every inch of my body hurts, and I don't know how DH is standing. What a difference in the house, and no more splinters in my feet walking in house. Orig. floor in house since 1920s.

Betty, loved the pics, I would have loved seeing that Moose!!!
and all the wildlife.

Stay off the tables dancing! Thinking of Bourbon street and I hope the food is as good. Great memory.

Today is a painting day so I have to get moving.

Lorna's gardens are just beautiufl M- hope Lily is doing better.

Happy Birthday Sharon....

Susan, the time is moving fast...good luck

Waving to all.....

evening all,

Happy Birthday Sharon...hope today was special, filled with family and friends.how are you and Vern doing?

Deb, are they booking the operation?

"M" lordy that is hot..we froze a few days, today we are leaving it's around 80..if Lorna wears those out, more where they came from

Debbie, how are you feeling? been thinking about the possibility of you coming to visit late Sept/early Oct...excited Wow, a new floor, what kind?
Today we saw 2 moose by the side of the road, got great photo's

Susan, did you get your work done at the new place?

Barb, got to tell you, you come from an awesome area..would be hard pressed to find anything more beautiful..in Twillingate we were close to your area, just wish we would have had more time to visit and take photo's

LindaKay if "M" is having 104 temps what would you be having?

on ship, it just leaving port..no sooner went to look for recliners, didn't look to comfy, but because Suzanne needed a place for cpack they had cornered off 4 chairs..no sooner got there they called my name, yippee, got a handicap cabin (Suzanne-heart and linda knees)
tv and all..$220 but worth every cent. Won't be difficult trip as we can sleep most of the night and not have to wander around all night.

One of the restaurants has a buffet, list is 2 pages long

had fun in St. John's..looked forward to going to the entertainment on George St but because the regatta was on you couldn't move..george st. had entertainment galore, we went for supper, excellent meal and then walked part of the town...they wanted $35 each to enter the music area and bars (like Bourbon Street) but was quite cold so we decided we'd go back to the room and enjoy

Verona, ON

Happy Birthday Sharon. Wishing you health, happiness and peace.

Sure would like a piece of the cake LK posted for Sharon's BD. I went and routed through the freezer and found a piece of Sara Lee's chocolate (dark) pound cake. I go to a freezer outlet and if they have things on sale even more than they have marked down I load up. The Sara Lee's were wrapped in separate pieces.

106 in Texas today. I can't imagine it being that hot in Canada.
Debbie, can't wait to see your new floors.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

oh yeah, in Winnipeg we used to get that temp in the summer a lot. 104, 106..... very hot there. Balanced by Very Cold in the winter.
We're more temperate in Calgary, so it doesn't as cold OR as hot.

Verona, ON

Evening folks,

Just came in from walking the dog. It is still so warm that when I opened the door to go out very warm air hit me right in the face.

I've been trying to limit the time the TH are outside due to the heat plus 2 of the 3 TH have been diagnosed with Lyme disease. They had a 30 days of antibiotics then about 5 weeks later had the blood tests sent off to Ottawa. *SIGH* Diesel's count had gone down but still needed another 30 days of meds. Poor little Duke's count is waaaaay up. I have to keep an eye on him for kidney failure. I am having a bit of a melt down, calmer now but still worried.

Haven't been out to the village for a few days - like a week probably but need to get a few groceries tomorrow.

Deb wishing your surgery will fix you up. How are your dogs doing with this heat? My 3 (black coats) want no part of being outside for too long.

Sweet dreams. I could do with Sharon's sleep angels tonight.

Dianne and her TH.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Dianne, I hope the sleep angels came to you .. some came to me, but, at 5am I was bright and alert :-(
DARK outside ..

Susan .. I have a good friend in Wpg who has, in the past, had break downs .. I have driven to care for her in a July heat wave as well as a January super freeze .. gawd awful both of them .. happily she is now married and I just chit chat with her on the phone .. at one point she lived right across from the Armouries on Minto .. loved to watch the goings on there :-)

Well .. it's 65F already .. so .. I guess the storm did NOT drive away the heat .. however .. there is a wind !!

Time to make breakfast

No rain here but still humid and very warm seeing it was in the 80's still. We have a heat warning in effect for today.

Got about 3 hours of deep sleep so I am a happy camper. Thank you Sharon !!

Safe travels Betty. We are waiting for your pics.

Duke gave me a bit of a scare around 6 ish - he just disappeared. Not sure he how he got out but got loose he did.He wouldn't come when I called him but came running back when I started up the Escape.

LK you still have my mouth watering with the cake you posted for Sharon. Think I might go to IGA this morning and get a Black Forest Cake. I'll slice it up and freeze some of the pieces.

Dianne and her TH

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

WOOT WOOT WOOT ... the humidity broke with the arrival of a north wind :-)
Waiting to put laundry out on the line ..
Kitchen window is wide open ..
Dogs are NOT panting ...
Life is good ..

Dianne .. yer making me want to bake a cake .. I have a recipe for one that I just might try ..
Has pineapple and maraschino cherries in it ... kind of an upside down cake.

Re DGD .. nothing is being said, and, I am not asking ..
Just happy DS, DGS and DH got together yesterday ..

Karen, how is your trip going ?

Laundry done .. off to the line

Glad to hear Duke came running back home. Jeesh, they gives such scares sometimes.
Glad to hear your not as hot today "M".

Susan, I know you are counting the days to get your new place set up.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Enjoying my time here, shower is tomorrow. Yesterday DGD & I bought not one but two sewing machines. One I had planned to get for my self when we came down. It's a newer brand on the market, has several features I wanted and price was reasonable. Dealer let me bring it back to test drive and let her know if I wanted to keep it...I do. The other I found on a yard sale site. Old Kenmore in a beautiful oak cabinet with drawers and other storage. Machine runs well, going to give it a good cleaning and oiling today.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like things are going well for you Karen. Enjoy your new machines.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

oh Dianne - that Duke!! But, he either likes car rides, or he can't stand to be separated from you!

Yes, counting the days - 2 fellas and a girl are here, helping us. Bob's at work, and the fellas are tearing down our deck. She's helping me pack, and we've all just eaten lunch.... it's a good day :-D

Beautiful flowers "M"!

Cleveland,GA/Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

I love that bike, Marilynne! Unfortunately no one delivers our wood. We tractor sections of fallen trees from the property and split by hand.

Betty, sounds like you're going to need a post-vacation vacation.

Susan, glad everything is going smoothly for your impending move.

Karen, you seem to squeeze the most out of life!

I've been busy in the garden and now canning season is starting. Also helping the kids out with DGS while his preschool is on break. He's just turned three and a very sweet, fun child though DD says I use up all his "perfect" and then hand him over to her. lol Meanwhile, not getting much done while tending the kiddo but did manage to can fig jam today. Sharing random pics and a "hi" to all.

M how many cords is that ? Oh M look at it this way - great exercise plus you don't have to do it all in 1 day.

Heat and humidity still hanging on. It just wooshs up in your face when you step out.

Barb I hope you are taking care of yourself .this weather must be hell for you.

Love the garden bike M. I saw 1 on a lawn near me and they had painted theirs lime green.

Purolater was just here delivering books. The TH go bananas..... this is a new driver. They won't even take a biscuit from him. I always especially this time of year have a cold pop or water for them. When this driver came the first time and I offered him a beverage he said the guys had told him that I would.lol

Didn't make it out to the village today so will go in the morning to IGA and the local farmer's market.

Going to go and look to see what books I ordered. Amazon have really upped their delivery - I ordered the books early yesterday.

Wonder where Betty is on her trip back ..

Happy Birthday to your aunt, Marilynne!

Thanks - it's supposed to be 70% chance of rain today........ hope it holds off for the Yard Sale!!

Verona, ON

Happy Birthday to Auntie Gladys M. Gladys must be a good strong name - my MIL was named Gladys and she live to 104.

Last night when I was watching the news there was a clip about a McDonalds in Wales. They tried as an experiment having a "walk through" lane for people who drank too much. It was from 2:20 - 4 am with selected items to purchase. It was such a success they plan on doing this on weekend nights Speaking from experience (never saw my Welsh uncles sober after 9 pm) it is a great idea

Rain passed over us last might and looks like it again today. *sigh*

Haven't ventured out to the village yet. Might leave it to tomorrow. The IGA and LCBO will be packed(they are in the same building) but never is at opening. I'll have to check and see if I have enough canned food to hide the pills from Diesel and Duke.

Hope your Yard Sale went well Susan.

Dianne and her TH.
