here is a hummer bathing in the sprinklers
***Sweet Interruptions*** Rm# 267
Morning everyone. Jaye those are really cheap seeds. Wonder if they will grow here.
Love that picture Kathy.
They most likely will grow. Celosias produce a lot of seeds. You could plant rows of plants from the seeds of one large seed head on one flower. And almost all of them seem to spout. :)
Jaye, I grow one peony here - 'Bowl of Beauty'. It has done well but tended to get a little leaf spot this year by the end of July or so. But it has gotten too shaded by some of other things and is planted not too far from the woods and there are all kinds of things going on back there. DH's cousin grew two gorgeous peonies, one white and one red (or maybe it was pink), at her house about 90 miles north of here in KY. Her father had planted them years and years ago and they were obviously very happy where they were planted.
What a sweet hummer shot, Kathy! Luv that. :)
Only shot of my peony this year that I could find.
That is good to know in case I ever get down there. I had to leave my peonies down state and I miss them so. I had planned to dig them up but the buyer surprised us one day by coming to the door several weeks after she had looked at the house and making a full price offer. She mentioned how she loved the peonies so I knew I was sunk.
Thanks for the heads up on the seeds Carole.
LK, I figured from those hundreds of seeds, I have greater chances of at least one taking off!! Lol! Moreover, the price is good.
That's a beautiful peony. The Sarah Bernhardt is a pink. I can only tolerate pinks in the garden.
One friend that grows them in W. Va. told me too that peonies don't like to be moved.
If you only knew the peonies would help with the sale eh Karen? I do hope the buyer still keeps them Karen.
My BFF sold her house easily for the same reason. She had antique roses, fruiting banana trees, a persimmon tree, lots of blooming gingers, an elephant ear reaching the roof and beautiful crepe myrtles lining the driveway. The buyer's wife fell in love with the landscape and convinced her DH to buy right away.
Well... last year, BFF returned to check on her old house, and her old garden's been razed. All to place a pool and concrete patio with an extra shelter/garage for a boat.
She regrets up to now not digging up her roses. The sad thing is those roses were gifted to her by a famous state rosarian.
Was overly busy today. Used electric carts wherever I shopped so my back isn't punished too much!
You all know your spouses well. Somehow, I surprised myself by insisting that he brings me to Myrtle Beach. Poor guy did a lot of talking on the phone before we left the house. I know on Monday afternoons, Murdock's time will be occupied with hospice nurses, not one but two.
It was just in time, as Kel admitted he needed to destress.
But he had to appease "her" by going over after he finished his supper. If not Tuesday will be hell day for him!
Thanks sistahs for the prayers. Angels you are.
We saw the buyer a few weeks ago, after two years she says she still loves the place so I guess all is well. My aunt still lives across the street so I can see my flowers on occasion. Sad part is so many were gifts from my kids.
You'll get new ones for your new home and you'd be getting hardier varieties, I'm sure!
And your grands would be wanting to add more to the collection. Good thing is, at least you'll have capable grands to help you with a new garden.
Morning everyone. Coffee is ready.
Makes one sad to see all your hard work pulled up like that Karen. Hopefully you will have a better garden in your new place.
Jaye so glad to hear that you and Kel got away for a bit.
Still sending lots of prayers for Kel and Murdock.
I have several peonies and I love them! I have two tree peonies and they are my favorites. The one that I had for the last two years gave me 18 blooms this year. I bought a new one, a yellow and it had two blooms. Have big hopes for both of them next year. I have it on good authority, that peonies will do best if moved the second week of September (or after) AND at night. Not sure if it has something to do with settling in without the hot day, or what, but since I have two to move, I'm going to heed this advice!
(((Kel))) Sounds like Kel needs some caramels.....
