Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All !

Thunder gorgeous pictures ! I love sunny Florida.... (and miss sunny Florida !)
Marion (HUGS) Backaches are not pretty.... I only had a horrible one once and all I remember was I liked Celebrex which went off the market for a while...
Dianne... (Close your ears Debbie) can we shoot that varmint Beaver ? I dislike seeing trees go away..... (HUGS) To you too... baby steps... was going to offer to come babysit Diesel so you could traipse off to Betty's but glad you have company coming...Yes can't wait to get well so we can go off on more walks....
Deb... (HUGS) and hoping the girls have special plans for you for Mothers Day....
Oh Betty ! LOL.... U are too cute.... Can't wait to see you in August. When is your get together ?
Okay Moonie... just re-read and had missed that last line... I get it now.... I did send to DSD1 who is not in my good graces today.... after this day.

LK - I was thinking today I need DS to move out... he needs to grow up... will have to think hard about what to make him realize this.....certainly not living this easy life at Mom's house.... but I wouldn't want it to be an experience to make him go downhill....just an awakening....

Will touch base back in a bit....it was a difficult day... one of those "many small things" gone wrong day.... Yes Witchy tried to fuss at me this morning. She was quite out of practice... ineffective.. and just plain silly if you ask me....

HUGS
Mary

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Mary, how old is your son?

Baton Rouge, LA

Hey LK -

DS turned 21 March 10.... He works at a minimum wage job 38-40 hours a week. No plans for the future... failed out of BRCC...... I am proud of him in some ways but very very disappointed in others...He has a STELLAR Girlfriend... I LOVE her... but hoping she doesn't get tired of his ways...

HUGS

Mary - my b-day is March 11..... good days

Victoria Harbour, ON

Early morning 'hi'

Mind won't shut down so finally decided I might as well get up!

Thunder, bet you are counting the days before you are off and heading north to greet that new bundle of joy..quilts are ready for you to take with you? Love the gardens and the bottle tree is spectacular, will go in search later this morning in my files, had a project in mind using bottles in a slab of cement..will post photo...love the gardens..I see your topsy/ turvey planter is planted, I'm worried about getting lower temps yet so will wait a bit..see the nurseries have a good choice of potato vine so perhaps a good idea to get them before they are gone. What all is in yours? Enjoyed the photo of Soldier boy, don't you wish sometimes they stayed that young?

Mary, such a hard call trying to decide what is best for DS, damned if you do and damned if you don't..might not hurt him to get a glimpse of the real world.. How does Lance feel about it?

As for Witchypoo, am thinking maybe you are holding your own with her lol

My visitors are coming here for the week, arrive a week tomorrow..vacation in New Orleans is 1st weekend in August.

Susan, what were you busy at that kept you so busy?

And your day LindaKay??

Got to tell you, should have bought a riding lawnmower years ago, yes I need the weeder and self propelled lawnmower for a few areas but in no time my grass was done..did about 10 minutes of weeding and black flies were out so that put an end to weeding.

Wonder if I cozy up to the missy and listen to her purr I might get an hour or so of sleep

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, can you use some OFF or some sort of spray to keep the black flies away?
I was cleaning house yesterday, and getting the sheets from the bed washed. Still need to dust. Never ending story here. Dust one day, and can't tell it the next!

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, not much stops those suckers!

I dusted a bit this morning, really should have my drive paved, think that's the main cause of the dust inside. As for housework I was just telling Suzanne with me off to work all day, keeping ontop of housework, likely an hour a day there is not much housework to be done, just as well as I'm not fond of it..the no cooking thing is what saves me the most time.Do have to do a few closest though, calling for rain part of the weekend so I'll try and do it then. If it rains Saturday as they predict there is not sense the boys coming for a day of outside work so I'll ask for a rain check.

Has it been too hot for you to be out in the gardens, are the plants that grow mostly in heat in full bloom?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I was answering job ads, and because it was so windy out yesterday (50k winds - yikes! woke me up at 2:30am, and went back to bed at 7:30, then woke up at 1pm!), I went out and swept up my driveway and cleaned the garden. Tree-leavings were everywhere!
I cleared the front berm some more.........

Victoria Harbour, ON

That kept you out of mischief Susan..wow, that's a good sleep!

DS Sharon just e-mailed me, at the hospital with a friend..she wrote
"Rick is in the hospital dying…. He has pneumonia and they don’t think he’s coming home." Hard losing a friend.

Just waiting for a call from TimberMart..ordering some tumble stack stones so they will deliver them incase the boys come..want some work done to the small pond..they weren't sure of dimensions so I'd know what to order, if they didn't close so early I'd take measurements and go in and see colors and designs

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

I have not tried it, butttttt someone posted on face book that vicks vapo rub is good for keeping flies and mosquitoes away!!! put a dab here and there...

leaving early tues morn...6 or 7 days depending on how one counts!!! ^_^

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I'd only had 3 hours sleep before I woke up at 2:30, so guess I needed the daytime sleep......... but it's played havoc with my nighttime sleep - I got up at 1am today, and didn't go back until 3... but now I've been up since 6am and won't have a nap!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thunder bet you are anxious, glad you will be there for DIL, does it look good that your son will be home as well for the birth?

I will try the vick's..only around for a few more weeks then it's mosquito season, at least they don't bite as bad as black flies..annoying things.

Know what you mean Susan, I've been up since after 3am, for the life of me couldn't sleep so I feel like I've been up an entire day. Benefits of being home is you can have mini naps

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Thunder - you're going to be there for the birth? How awesome is that?!?! Too fabulous for words, I say!!! So happy for you all!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

don't know if son will be home ?? we are hoping.

yes going to be there!! well I will be home with Malena...If son is not home, the hubs will probably go to hospital to be with DIL, and again I will be home with Malena..she is having a c-section. scheduled for the 16th....unless the little bugger decides to come earlier...

[quote="barefootT"]scheduled for the 16th....unless the little bugger decides to come earlier...

lol well, ya never know, do ya?

Victoria Harbour, ON

More predictable Thunder when its a 'c' section..you'll be able to tell Malena all about her new sister coming home..Ryleigh I believe?? just not sure the spelling is correct?? how long will the drive for you be, 5 or 6 hrs?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, I have the raised bed in the front yard and it gets full sun, I have bougainvillea and sunflowers in it this year, it was too much sun for my angel trumpets, so I had to move them to the back yard. In the back yard, I have potted plants on the east side of the yard, they are shaded by the carport. They get sun till about 1 in the afternoon.
Susan, sure doesn't take much to get a sleeping pattern messed up!
Thunder, we will anxiously be waiting with you in Spirit, don't forget your camera!
What are tumble stack stones Betty? What will you do with them?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wondered how much heat angel trumpets could stand..can you take photo's, would love to see your gardens!

tumble stones are 6" in the back and 8" in the front and 4" high, I will be able to hide the waterfall bucket by making a circular stone covering..will Friday go into the quarry and buy a large slab of slate to go ontop then I can sit a flower pot ontop..left fairly early this morning and walked the garden center at my 1/2 point drive, thought I might come up with alternative to the plan I now have but didn't see anything.

They will likely deliver my order Friday morning..getting ready for a work weekend IF weather decides to co-operate

Victoria Harbour, ON

Think thunder while Joyce is here we might make 1 or 2 of these..now where will be get wine bottles?? might have to drink them lol

Judy, wouldn't this flower pot lady look grand in your garden?

I have a fallen tree trunk..looks identical to this one, am sure the boys would want me to call in a backhoe to get this project done, either that or they go home with sore backs..it's been laying on the ground for decades, might be lighter than we think

Morning, I am a lazy bump this morning.

Betty, doctors wore me out yesterday just sitting and waiting forever! I have two sheets of papers for allergy testing
and blood work, and prescription for Epi-pens. He doesn't like my reactions to the peppers and "it is a matter of
time before you have a serious one". Sigh. I can't cook anything with them in it....or seasonings.

Such a list he is checking for...including shrimp, peanuts....and chocolate!!!

Judy, hope you are feeling better today, gentle arm wraps.

Thunder, I know you can't wait to snuggle both girls. Happy times in life!!

Mary, you know I am here if you need to talk. It doesn't seem to help talking to them so much any more, but trying
to figure things out talked with DH helps a bit. I am going through the exact same thing with DS and find out
new heartbreaking facts every week. And...was told he would be coming "home" end of May...but find out it is
for a "mega party" for a friends graduation....and he will try and stop over. I also found out his best friend Sam,
whom he got in so much trouble with up here...has now moved to Denver with him. Sending hugs,

Well, need some breakfast...run the cleaner, and get the dog outside to brush her down. she is doing a bit better
meds are helping.

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

OH my Debbie, just what you needed was allergies..see all the items they are testing for and all seem to be things you enjoy, did they find anything that might be outside as it seemed to come when you started finding more time to play outside?

Sorry to hear about not so DS..has he no idea how much he's hurting you?? a mega party can wait, it's about time that boy grows up!!!! armwraps as Judy would say..

Spoke to both boys this morning, Jeff's truck is in for transmission work, Greg asked when I wanted him at the house and what time Jeff would be arriving for the weekend???? told him about Jeff's truck so he said if not ready he'll go pick him up, any excuse to use the 'spider' lol Told him to wait until Friday aft. before making any plans, no sense if it's pouring rain..said rain wouldn't melt them..not them but would me

Victoria Harbour, ON

You can tell I'm bored, went back into threads about same time as now..

Debby your wreigelia were in full bloom, how are they doing now?

I posted a photo mid May of a vase of lilacs..yikes, the trees barely have leaves on them this year

I'd say we are 2 or 3 weeks behind, are you all finding that?

Holly Springs, NC(Zone 7b)

Just got the JL Hudson supplemental seed catalog for the season. Of course I had to buy some new seeds!!! Now that almost everything is off of my starting racks I'll have space for some experimental stuff. I work at a University and graduation is this weekend. Our department does our own ceremony, which I am in charge of, so things here at work are busy, busy, busy. Lot's of little tasks; wrapping small gifts, printing programs, framing certificates, confirming orders for centerpieces, food, and rental tables. I love this time of year because everyone is on hand to celebrate the accomplishments of our graduates. Some bachelor's, a few master's, and one PhD. All my 'kids' are growing up...sniff, sniff.

And my bed of roses... I need to pull weeds!

Thumbnail by taters55
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

And the back yard, along the fence where I have my angel trumpets, I need to rake in there so bad...

Debbie, sorry to hear your going through so much testing, hope they figure things out soon for you!

It is hard to have a son running all over like that, but all you can do is let him go, and figure it out on his own. Not an easy task for a Mom to do, but I think most of us have been down that road!

Sound's like your pretty busy!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lanakila, sounds so interesting, you'll soon have time for yourself once this week has passed?? Bet you've become attached to a few kids who are like your own..as Recreational Co-Ordinator I had some favorites, to this day when I see them I get to be like a proud mamma and love how they made a fuss over me. congratulations on their achievements..
Aren't seed catalogues dangerous?? what did you purchase?

I received seed packets from various DG members these past few months, must get them out and start. I did purchase morning glory seeds, yowzers, $2.99 for a few seeds..wet a paper towel, put them in zip lock bag and set in the sun, really rooted, heard that we might get to freezing temps early next week so if I do plant them it best be in a pot that I keep in the house near a window for sunshine until it's time to plant.

When I dropped off at the nursery this morning the annuals for the topsy/turvy pots are $2.99 - $3.49 each..i.e. potato vine, lobellia, ivy - what do you pay.

Has anyone heart for Susan 101..I've been searching threads looking for her, I sure hope she is not unwell..

Crissy and Liz if you are lurking, a hi would be nice..been awhile since you've updated us on what is going on in your lives..mother hen here inquiring?????

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, are they your angel trumpet new growth in the containers??

Lyndonville, NY

I have had the allergies for some time, but they are getting worse. Before I just couldn't eat anything with peppers in it. Now I can't even
handle them or cook with them, my eyes swelled so badly from making tacos. The seasoning on the meat did me in. I can't make
stuffed peppers for DH anymore. Last time I ate peanuts I went into a major coughing fit. SO....he thinks my immune system has
something going on.

You know, he pulled out my chart and started asking me about "what inhaler are you on now?" and all my other meds. Told him I was no
longer taking/ using. He said "for how long? You need these!" I just sat there....trying not to cry. Not since my Mom died and I didn't have
to deal with her smoking. It hit me hard....how sick I was because of her smoking. I had 3 inhalers (one a rescue inhaler) , constant ear, sinus, respiratory infections....oral allergy meds.

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, I haven't heard from Crissy in some time either. Will email her today.

We had to pull the Wigelia out. I miss it so much, but was planted too close to the house, wasn't supposed to get as big as it did,
and was growing into the foundation causing issues. The inside was no longer growing leaves and it was looking shabby.
My lilacs are ready to pop.

Rochester Lilac Festival is this weekend, I want to go so badly but don't know if I can walk it with the crowds. DH's birthday is Saturday also.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yes Betty, that is new growth this year!

You better get those seeds in a pot, they will do good for you this year!

Victoria Harbour, ON

I cannot even imagine Debbie how overwhelming and frustrating it must be for you having your own health issues, those of Shannon and dealing with DS..It is no wonder you broke down and cried..can't blame you..does Paul's medical at work cover perscriptions???

I so wish there was something I could do..pack a bag and I'll pick you up at the border next week and you can spend the week with me, Joyce, I and the girls would spoil the heck out of you!!!

You don't have a veggie garden do you and a pepper plant got mixed up in it?

Know Crissy is working 2 jobs so difficult for her I'm sure..just want to make sure she is ok..

Oh Oh have 5 wreigelia's planted on the side of the house, perhaps I should not have done that??? think in total I have over 20 of them, must count them..different colors, so pretty when they bloom...ahhh can't believe you have lilac ready to bloom, will take a photo to show you leaves just opening??? I would imagine in a few weeks all my flowering crab trees should be in bloom..last year most of my spring flowering shrubs were over by now but then last year was a stellar spring.

Dianne, you out playing in the garden..

Saw a few tulips opening this morning, don't have a lot of them, should really plant more.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Got to figure out where to plant them though..not sure if pots are best or in the ground..guess I could plant them in pots and set them near the arches?? do you keep yours in pots?

Lyndonville, NY

We do have a veggie garden and I bet you DH plants 5 different peppers. He knows, and basically he just doesn't care. He thinks it is
funny to eat a meal of peppers...then give me a kiss. I know you adore him, but he honestly has a very "not nice" side to him.
He has a sarcasm that can be very cruel. I think this is why the kids are not close to him.

Yes, his medical covers most of the prescriptions....we have copays at certain levels. Could be $7, 20, 30, or 65....depending on what tier it is. When DD was on the Heperin shots....it was $650 for 12 shots!!! Thankfully we paid $65 for that one. We get the generic whenever we can.

I am leaving Monday for Cleveland again, so won't even be home to run away to see you and Joyce.

You might have a different type of wigelia than I did....maybe yours is a dwarf variety? LOL Mine got 7 foot tall....and just as wide!
They are so beautiful.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

All my morning glories are in pots sitting at the fence for them to grow on!
