Great weather..overcast here, high predicted of 77 today but right now only 61..nice though..want the rain to come, would really make things grow..did you get all your gardening done Susan?
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Come visit & chat
I'm waiting for all sorts of things....
temp is now 12c - moving quickly, so expect it will get warmer than expected.
Pretty much - but still need to do gardening at a friend's - same place I do every year. She has a yard as big as a small park.... maybe like yours, Betty?! lol
For doing her yard maintenance, they allow me space for a veggie garden.
that's a good trade off..don't know if you would call my gardens big gardens but must say it takes forever to maintain
Suzanne is gone shopping for an outfit/bathing suit and easy ware for her trip to Jamaica next week then when she gets back in I'll take a quick run and pick up my sewing machine..Michelle said if I paid cash she would give me 15% off..still would be $243 or so..went downstairs to bank machine and got cash, might as well save a few $$$..need a few things so am sure the money I saved she'll end up getting!
Betty I did the exact same thing as you are comtemplating and the flowers are thriving. I figured if it was wrong the plants would have died. If the new owners turn out to be gardeners you can offer to give them a slip back.
You would love Bidenstock Betty. It is a tall plant so goes nicely in the back row and has pretty little yellow flowers. Here they call it the German Bidenstock. The leaves are varigated and the flowers are tiny and very yellow. It spreads like wildfire so you have to be careful. Mine has actualy seeded itself in the driveway so am thinking it really is one of Debbie's Fleeds.
Betty, Biden is called Beggar Tick....I think your Tick Seed is Coreopsis...but they are both in the same family Asteraceae. I love Coreopsis, a truly cheery carefree plant. It reseeds freely and seems to have very few pests/problems. When GSJordan was little, he called it Cory-pops...and the name has kinda stuck here...grin
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coreopsis
ahhh, there you go..that's what they are.. know I have them in abundance, infact I've about 6 containers full of seed, was thinking that I might make dig a narrow length of land along the back of the property and just throw them in..what grows/grows
Those are beautiful plants!
My daughter just sent me an early Mother's Day email - a video
http://youtu.be/0QXW4l0auLg
and she also told me how much she loves me......
Now I'm all weepy.......
Awe, how sweet!
Dianne,
when you have seeds to share could you send me some and I shall do same with mine!!!
Susan, one year you will get to spend time with your daughter on MothersDay..
Just the thought of my boys making the effort in spending time with me warms my heart..the 'to do' list can be done at other times of the year but they insist so I don't put up a fight lol
Easy come easy go!!! Just like cars, you need to keep them tuned up, if you want then to run smoothly!
I guess..lucky they didn't say I needed a motor job..
Had lunch, bought a couple of carpet roses..lordy last year the ones I bought were in bloom from June till the snow fell, roses galore hope, had pink and yellow, these are scarlet..likely I'll put in front garden.
Carpet roses are so pretty!
What gives Betty, I was looking for the scarlet roses and only found the pink and yellow this year. Hummm,do we need to trade? LOL They are just fantastic growers here.
do you have any Lindakay? The tag said in 100sq ft so a 10x10 area if you had 17 plants it would be breathtaking...
What would your ultimate wish list for your back yard be??
I will start going to garage sales, trying to find a metal coffee table i.e. like a patio one so I can make this
live coffee table, that wouldn't be my ultimate addition to back yard..would have to think what it would be
How are you feeling Marion??? and your mom??? Do they grow well in your gardens or do you keep them potted? Actually almost all were scarlet..same as with Astilbe, they were scarlet red as well.
must be the year for reds
I am doing okay...some headaches still as my new glasses having come in so far. Mom is up and down, just getting over another UTI but as long as she is bed ridden she will have those. Managed to get all my workman lined up and starting the end of new week things here will be a mess until all work is completed. Then I am going to do the "happy dance" that I can finally start moving into my craft/guest bedroom area. Trying to pick colors now....mostly done but do want Kim to have some say as she lives here also and will be doing her crafts there.
Everything here seems to be more pastels so far. I am so hoping to get to the nurseries this weekend....still have to depend on someone to drive me. I HATE this being dependent on some one to take me place. Real pain in the a__!!!!!!!!!
You are putting a lot of thought into this craft room/bedroom, I'm sure the end result will be to your liking.
I've so much in my craft room that it almost makes it impossible to paint..I would like earth tones I think..soft color doesn't blend to creativity I find.
Its been a bit since you've ordered the glasses has it not? Sorry to hear your mom is still doing poorly. How has your weather been? What kind of plants are you in search of???
Betty, love that table! Good luck finding one! No I don't have any carpet roses here, I never see any when I go to the nurseries or stores. All I see are climbing roses, and tea roses. Oh and a few knock out roses!
LK I found mine at Lowe's and Home Depot but earlier in the season....maybe late February.
Betty, a week today the glasses were ordered...not that odd for mine.
There really isn't expectations that mom will ever be any better...just a long decline is what we have been told to expect now. Our weather has been really nice for this time of year..on the cool, nice side. However, today it has gotten up into the mid 80 with higher predicated for tomorrow. Rain for the weekend!! Bummer.
Right now I am looking at coleus, impatiens (dearly love those for the shaded area) and mostly what ever I see I like. That is my problem, I see way to many things I like but then have to narrow my list for shade or semi-shade.
Yes, a lot of time and thought has gone into the craft room project. Not in the mood to have to redo as soon as it is completed. I do like earth tones/colors but don't use them in the house. Mostly done in grayed pastels along the blue, green and purple side.
Love all the pictures and flower, and my heavens you have all been busy today!
I had to go for my blood work, met DH for lunch, then back over to Orthopedic doc for my shoulder.
It is very inflamed, but they don't see any tears or such. Ultrasound showed where the areas where, and
they used that to "gently" guide the needle into the area.....and give me steroid shots. Right now doing the "ice on,
Ice off" routine.
Hope you are all doing well
Debbie
Sure hope those shots help you out Debbie!
Goodness Debbie you must be in a lot of pain, all that probing..how long before the shot works and how many of those shots can you have? i'm amazed they gave you shosts with all the medical issues you are going trough..how many hours do you have to add the ice?
first thing that came to mind when you said you were out to eat with Paul was ' I wonder if he ordered peppers and chocholate for desert' not nice of me right..
Lordy, I'm into stealing today and now I'm sassy about Paul, what is the world coming to?
Marion, likely that is the case re your mom..sad that she has to suffer so! Thing about your getting new glasses is you will see everything crystal clear, is that a good thing? Lol. I but my carpet roses at Walmart..because of Mothers Day they were on for reasonable amount. $13.49 (reasonable for here)...when would yu plant what we put in the ground in May, Feb/Mar? Grandma always had coleus, she could grow them so large..I put them in my topsy/turvey planter but it's too hot, should get a few and see how they do in the shade.
LindaKay, have one exactly like it that belongs to my set in the gazebo, if I knew it would turn out as nice maybe I could put the glass top n the shed and redesign it..it's always dusty so wouldn't be a loss lol
As for decor, no decorative theme really, few rooms are lt. blue green tones, some wallpaper, light yellow in a few bedrooms..sure needs a redo but not sure I am up to the job. Maybe I could have a painting party?
Sitting here scratching my head, put in an hour in the gardens, got black fly bites for sure.
Stopped into the nursery, yikes bought 2 types of sprays for ants, sure not cheap..had I not paid so much for my machine today I think I'd have bought a peony tree, tempted but it was $69.99 so talked myself into leaving real quick.
Get to work from home tomorrow, suppose to rain but if it doesn't I will have someone call so I can see how far in the gardens I can go so the telephone works and I can multi task..Friday's are always so might get a lot done.
Dianne, did you see Saturday/Sunday could include 'snow'
Say it isn't so
Dianne, know you are in our thoughts and prayers today!
Betty, it can take two weeks to "feel" the results of the shots. I had a couple in the bursa sack before my surgery in May, 2011.
It worked 100% with the surgery and no problems til I "maybe" went against docs rules thinking I was all better. (Carrying too many
groceries, playing "hard" frisbee, or maybe falling on the stairs and catching myself).
Thing thing is, if I end up having the back surgery, I need my arms strong and able to support my body to get around if I need too.
AND, Paul had a hot turkey sandwich for lunch, with mashed taters....NO PEPPERS! Ihave been a bit vocal!
Morning all,
It's heavy out there, can feel the rain coming..drats says tomorrow as well and Dianne, put your hands over your ears..also says possible snow! Yuk
Maybe I will not be getting outdoor projects done after all!
Well Debbie, when you are up doing things you shouldn't do come back and read your post..will remind you that you were 100% well until you lapsed and did what you should not have done.
Just finishing my coffee, will go organize my craft room/cupboards and now that I
Now have my janome back I can finish Mae's quilt and finish the top for Cindy, her wedding is next week..
What is the weather in your neighborhood , 47 here this morning.
Do you have anything planned for this weekend?
Hey, I did a Betty last night. I was up all night....slept maybe 2 hours! Down here on the computer playing a game trying to get sleepy at 3:30, til 5:45. Sound familiar!?
I shouldn't have pulled weed, planted flowers/fleeds....brought groceries in.....and maybe I shouldn't have played frisbee.
The tumble down the stairs...well, I really tried to stop! lol
Taking Izzy to the groomers. Have a good day!
Morning everyone!
Betty is it 67 right now, and supposed to reach 91 today. Sorry to hear you may have snow in your forecast.
Debbie, your not supposed to be doing those things, you need to take it easy please?
Dianne, how are you doing today? Hope you got some sleep?
Hi
Thank you for the good thoughts, well wishes and Arm wraps!!
You've absolutely no idea how much I am in need at the moment.
Everything is fine here...But the @$$%%$%@!#$ phone went ringing from out of state, not a good call at all and i have been in an emotional uproar, torn as to what i should do, so far just praying hard for right decisions to be made.
Of course along with that, comes the anger and trust me, I am so mad, haven't been able to focus on too much.
I still coughing, still very, very sore and then to top everything, Richard opened the door and Skittle flew out!! She went around the house and flew next door, the neighbor came out and said she hit his window, sure enough Jacob came cradling her in his hands, her wing was all twisted. But then she tried to roll and straighten it back. It was horrifying to see our Baby, Jake was choked up, wouldn't even give her to me...Anyway jumped in the van literally zoomed to the vet! Breenie had called to say we were on the way, Disrupting their meeting...They were waiting at the counter. Thank God, she just rattled her brain, nothing broken...they gave her a shot of anti flam, vitamin and and antibiotic, kept her in an incubator and monitored her until 4. We are just to keep her quiet and warm for at least 24 hours. So far not even a problem. When i got her home, she just stayed put and relished my gentle strokes. I put her in her house and she went directly to her little sleeper muff. She did come out to eat and did groom, so thats good. This morning DH was chatting with her, so she is just going to be quiet today...And Poor Richard, when we left, they were leaving from lunch, I know both boys were in such turmoil...We are always, always cautioning anyone who enters, watch for bird, birds out...This time Breenie had taken birdie out, thought they were gone, Birdie landed on his shoulder, and he didn't know, Breenie yelled to him just as he was opened the door and she took to the wind, It was bound to happen I guess, and I will let him know, Im not mad at him.
We are all so relieved she will be ok.
So I am here, just being quiet.
Seeing All of the gardens have brightened my days, Wish i could work on mine, was doing great for a minute there. sigh, lost my Garden Party, (purple rose).
My great big gorgeous butterfly bush seems to be very late, and Im not sure, but i think, I killed all my hibiscus??!!!! For some reason, i cut the old stalks and now i can't remember if i did that last year, so now i guess i wait.
So, I have been over the top overwhelmed, working hard to calm my nerves!
Sending you all tight armwraps!
Betty have a blast with Sunshine/Joyce!! LOL don't wear them out too much, and Please give Armwraps!
P.S...I do just love that Pot gardener, think it would be great company for Jumangi!!
Judy... ((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))) for you!
Sorry there is so much going on for you, hope it all settles down soon! And you need to clip skittles wings so she does not fly off again! Your luck you got her back!
oh Judy - I feel for poor Skittles! Same thing happened when I was 7yo - our budgie flew out, but we never did find him, and there was a terrific summer storm that night.........
So happy u found ur Skittles! And glad the vet was able to find she was fine.......... !!!
Sure hope no one has snow anymore..........
Debbie, we'll have to make a lady of leisure out of you yet..make this weekend yours..feet up and enjoy..almost hope the rain does come so you won't be tempted to misbehave .. You must have a nap this morning
Judy, sorry there is so much drama / stress in your life!! I'm sure you will make the right decision as to what to do. How frightening for Skiddles, glad she is none the worse for her experience..Richard must me feeling terrible..hard when you are not used to watching out for a birdie trying to go AWOL..
You are likely sore just from coughing..
Hugs..know we are here should you need us!
Not sure of the temps here this morning but we are suppose to get in the upper 80s. Rain for the weekend...there goes my working outside plans. Betty, I paid 9.99 for my carpet roses at Lowes. Depends on the weather how early we can start planting but usually by March on many things. Coleus have been in the nurseries for quite a while this year.
Judy send hugs and hope everything works out to your satisfaction.
Debbie, take care....I can feel the shot!!! Reminded me of the ones I had in the knee not to long ago.
Have a great day all.
Nice temps Marion..
That is a good price for them..I find they are well worth it as you sure get a bang for your dollar. Upper 80's without humidity is perfect, hope you are out enjoying it.
Coleus will be my next purchase, think I will just do container gardening with them.
it's cold/damp and raining so I'm finishing Mae's tie quilt..
Know I complained about paying $$ for sewing machine repairs yesterday, but I'm thrilled, she's purring and talk about quiet..quilting stitches perfect..note to self..have it checked yearly!
Glad to hear your machine is purring nicely!
We're getting temps in the upper 70's and lower 80's
still get 30's and 40's overnight though......
