Wow, that is a lot of house sales, and moving.
Congrats to Ann for the twins on the way, will keep mom in our prayers for a safe pregnancy.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Come visit & chat
Betty, such wonderful and hopeful news you shared! Prayers for all!
Izzy is doing better, just came in from watering and she went after the hose/water for first time in two years. She wanted to play.
Long day, had Doctors for DD. Neurologist gave her a going over, checked meds and problems with them....said she is too complicated and Off too another specialist once that one looks at her reports/scans. Depending what she sees...we get an earlier appointment...or wait til Aug. 13!! My word!!!
Pressure behind right eye is off and he can't see behind her left...which he doesn't like at all.
DH grilled burgers outside for us. Saw a picture of my son....made me cry because I didn't recognize him at all.
Betty, rest up!
(HUGS) Debbie.... Watch that video Moonie posted.... it is uplifting or was to me tonight..... LOVE "FLEED".....
LK - (hugs) for your Dad... I suppose they know what to do.... How is the pup ?
Susan TV then $500.. I think we all know things (should ) come in 3's.... so what is next ? Job?
BEV - had one daylily bloom so far and you know I think of you when I see my daylilies....
Moonie will definitely try the cold ease
Moonie & Betty THANK YOU For the congrats on the ribbon... must be much harder next year I won't be an "amateur" any more...
Too funny Betty ... should have tried coughing on witchy... LOL.....We will see why she wants to meet with me tomorrow....
Katie - you had some words of wisdom to share with the group! I love the philosophy that a garden shares with oneself.... I've learned a lot. Have you seen "Life of Pi" ? I somehow think you would enjoy it....
Moonie...that video really spoke to me.... I don't understand just that last sentence but I 'saved' the link to send to the kids... it's something that DSD1 would especially like...
Hugs to all
Mary
ah Mary - had my "3"...... First I had a terrific sale at the church and made $165 (they put on a good lunch too!), then the TV, then $500
Tonight Bob & I went to a Volunteer Appreciation dinner put on by the senior's home where I volunteer once/month at a church service our pastor holds there - Margaret & I are the "choir", Ray & Peter are the musicians (banjo & harmonica), and Gary's our pastor. So, that's considered volunteering.
Anyway, it was a Mexican theme night with a Mariachi band (2 singers, man & woman, a keyboardist and a guitar player). We had a great time - tacos and wraps for dinner, margaritas and/or beer to drink, and I even got asked to dance by Peter! It's been a long time since I've waltzed, but a great time was had by all.
Temp got to 28c/82F today...... wow was it hot! And Sunny, too.
I got out in the garden and was pulling up the dead flowers and cutting back the honeysuckle and old rose bushes a bit (not too much, but there was a lot of dead wood that needed pruning).
they really should invent a longer garden glove.......those rose bushes are deadly!! I got one long scratch - it's fine now, but when it happened, yowch! lol
Mary - wow, you're a beautiful lady!
and what a gorgeous hibby! Two of you "match" :-)
YAAY Susan ! 3 strokes of luck ! Sounds like a wonderful night... lots of talent... dancing and fun... (HUGS)
Maybe using a jacket when you work on the roses.... next time... (HUGS)
It was too Hot for a jacket - nearly burned my b*(^ when I sat on the black supports for my flower berm.
Beautiful hibiscus Mary! I agree with Susan, your a beautiful lady!
Mary, are you still fighting that whooping cough?
Susan, lets hope for a 4th in that lucky streak, and you land one of those jobs you have applied for!
This message was edited May 6, 2013 10:40 PM
yes, a 4th would be very nice.....
SUSAN Back at you gal... YOU are a beautiful lady.. wish I could log in all the time to the church that you do....I am so envious of you.... Wish I could do the same yet tell myself I should not have any excuses not to.....
(HUGS) all
Mary
you? envious of me?........
I love my church, and frankly - it's something I know how to do, and they're happy for me to help.
I can't seem to get a paid job (at least not at the moment), so this is one way of verifying that I have worth. Otherwise I would sink into depression. The Church is my lifeline.....
LK - The Experience with the whooping cough made me a scared person..... when at any time I might start a cough that never stops?
It's scary... it changed my personality... to someone who is scared to cough at any time.....it's really really embarrassing....
Probably why I went to the Doc today....
SUSAN... I love how you spend time with your church... I will hope to have something like that one day....I am envious of you !
LK - you have such a great time with your kids... I hope i have that one day....
Mornimg
On the run, spend just after 9pm watching the news breaking story of the escape of the 3 girls escape in Cleveland , couldn't stop watching..imagine them saying 3 brothers were involved..those poor children, over 10 years in captivity and at least one having a child of her own..
See you at 8:30
Mary, I had a hard time with my boys when they were still teens at home, it was. not till they were out on thier own and married that we started getting along. There was a 4 year span that I did not speak to my oldest, as he was on drugs for awhile and stole a lot of money from me. That hurt really bad. But we all get along good now.
Sorry, you asked about Luna the other day, and I forgot to answer. She is doing really good now. Thanks or asking.
Betty, I just heard that story on the news, how sad for those women.
Susan (Tallulah) - "they" do make garden gloves for rose gardening. Years and years ago my DH gave me a pair for Christmas - heavy material in hand part and extending all the way almost to elbows - great for pruning and handling roses. I don't know where he got them, but surely rose companies or nurseries might have a clue. I use them only for pruning because they do not appear to be washable - so no weeding around the bushes with them.
hmmmmmmmmm rose gardening opera gloves lol I'll sing an aria to my roses and maybe they'll bloom more lol
I have a couple of places I know of that may sell them..... trying to think of the name of one - not a garden center but they have lots of "oddities" like this.
Just thought of the name - Lee Valley Tools
Mary - are these like yours?
http://www.leevalley.com/en/garden/page.aspx?cat=2,42407,33240&p=10264
I found them on page 119 of their catalogue (just in case it takes you to page 1 of the catalogue)
Good Morning
Mary, The last line is an addition of mine ...a comment on the last line in the lyrics. The Hibbie is gorgeous and the amaryllis too. Glad ya went to the doctor..sounds like a bit of infection rather than just a cold. Hope the meeting with witchy-poo is a productive one and not just a B&G session.
Susan, you sound much more like yourself....amazing what a little luck can do...hang in there...always believed there is a reason for everything, just sometimes we can't fathom it. This one is for you Dear.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWZ-pLUb9L8
Is this the glove you were talking about? The Mud gauntlet is great for nasty jobs, but it is latex and rose thorns will rip right through it.

Hope you all have a lovely day with warmth and sunshine
Jean
Proper morning to you all..
Lordy I sure can get engrossed in these news breaking stories...time to get back to reality.
Mary, that hibby is almost as gorgeous as you..got to tell you gals, her picture doesn't do her justice, she's a real looker!!! Glad the meds are helping you feel better.
Debbie, great that Izzy is doing better but not so great that you are off yet again to another appointment for Shannon..she must be at the end of her rope...I miss my hubby's b.b.q. cooking, will have to borrow Paul, he does wonders with food. Wipe your tears, perhaps Shane WILL be back to stay..I think he misses you too much to speak to you and avoids it when possible..he had BETTER call you Mothers' Day though.
Lindakay, sometimes through those hard times once you bond again it's the strongest and binds you for always, wonderful ending to hard times..
Stillwood, look at the cuttie..
drats, busy here this morning..boss and most of staff are off at end of next week so trying to fit everything in..will be back to gab in a bit..
Have to run to find containers for our mushroom class..yippee Joyce (Joycet) will arrive a week Thursday..oh happy days
Mary I am so glad you went to the doc. You get better so you can come with Diesel and I on 1 of our walks. I'll show you all the places the &^%#&* beaver has been at the trees. The dang thing is even taking ironwood down now. That is unheard of around here. There are about 6 large trees he got part way through and abandoned them. Now that really ticks me as in most cases he has got far enough through the tree won't live. Now having said that when 1 was left like that last spring I painted the exposed parts of the tree and it has buds on it so here's hoping.
Sort of a bad day yesterday ... hard day actually .... a year ago yesterday I lost my babe to that dreaded cancer.Basically I hid - I unplugged the phone, had a long nap, worked raking and played with Diesel. Hopefully now my year of 'firsts' (as another wise lady told me I would experience the first year after losing Santa Warren) is over I can grab life with my usual delight and energy. I am determined to pull myself out of this pit of despair. Hear that Katie .... we can work at this together!!!
Made myself go into the village this morning to buy a new rake and also to mail a couple of important items that have been sitting addressed on my kitchen island for weeks. This afternoon I am going to tackle a large box of things that have come addressed to SW over this last year and sort through them. Just baby steps but that has to help. Gotta get out of this hole somehow.
Going outside for aawhile to enjoy that glorious sun. Weather Liards say rain is on the way for us Betty .
Hugs Dianne, baby steps/baby steps, even those are difficult but it helps the healing process.
I for one got through the first year difficult as it was but the minute the first anniversary came it hit me, there are no more firsts..yowzers..that was a shock but what it did was make me realize that life goes on and I had to decide how I wanted to live my life (did make some bad choices but they were choices)!
Found that the most difficult part was being with people, got comfortable in being with myself..some days I couldn't stand myself so kept away from friends/family, little by little I knew that the best things would be to be out with people..tremendous help..lost a few friends along the roadside during this progress but made a whole bunch more.
Such a confusing time...know Santa Warren would be so proud of you!
Does say rain for tomorrow so I'll cut grass tonight..Ann called to say no 'tv bingo' tonight so not sure if I will play just by myself..ooooh she's faving a male come for supper (more gossip) lol
Suzanne said both Darlene and Ann are open to new relationships (men) and I'm not, that is so, I'm quite content in my own little world...been there, done that!!!
Big Hugs for you Dianne. Please know you are in our thoughts and hearts today and everyday.
And so is your beloved Santa Warren
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-PNun-Pfb4
Dianne, yes the first year is the hardest and trust me, it does get better...slowly but surely. I have very little memories of my first year which does bother me some but have been told it is a way of healing. I still have "down" days but for the most part the beautiful memories take over.
Betty, you are not alone in being content. Besides I doubt there is another man on this earth that could balance my "odd ball personality" like Ross did. So doing my thing and being grandma is what I enjoy now.
We have the sun out finally. I hope it dries up some of the wetness so it doesn't smell so sour out.
Busy with workman coming in and out so will check back later...................
Are the workmen putting in your new A/C Marion??
Marion, just couldn't put energy at my age into 'step children' shaking my head 'no' big time!
Doesn't seem like a year ago I was planning the DG Sistah's Reunion and here I am planning another visit ..Joyce and 2 friends will arrive Thursday, she said they were energetic and never stop so this morning I'm sitting here planning their entire visit..let's see if they can keep up

Sending tight armwraps!!
In a ton of pain, back aches horribly, can't even think straight.
Judy/Judy/Judy, you are always shaking your finger that I do too much..seems to my your are in this fix doing too much (likely helping Steve)
Off to put your feet up!
(((Judy))) aw the dreaded back ache. Do you have something to take for it? Are you getting some heat on it? What about a rub to help lessen the pain - Voltaren is excellent. Now, what did you do to cause it? I know question after question .... my strategy is if I ask enough questions you might forget about your back. No, not working, eh?
Ah Betty , Marion and Jean thank you so much for your words of encouragement. I really appreciate it. Like you Marion and Betty I have no interest in meeting someone else - my goodness I get this terrible feeling in the pit of my stomach when I even mention it.
My sweet kit Sassy has something wrong - I am thinking toothache since she is drooling so badly. She won't let me near her mouth so will have to take her to the vet tomorrow. Tried to get her in today but the whole office is shut down - 1 of the vet techs was killed in an accident last week and the funeral is today. Did get a time for tomorrow though. Sassy doesn't seem to be in pain and is still eating her kibble so I guess I will have to just wait and see. I have no plants in the house for her to eat so that can't be it. She does chase the ants as they scurry across the floor so maybe an ant or a spider bit her. Poor little thing. I think because I get so upset about anything pertaining to my teeth I am projecting my worries onto her..
Think I will go for a nap.
Dianne
Sorry to hear your back hurtd so much Judy, get those feet up, and apply some heat or ice on it.
Dianne, sorry to hear about kitty not feeling well, hope the vets can figure out what it is.
Betty, are you taking those days off of work? Sounds like your going to be busy for sure!
Oh Betty you are taking the ladies to some of my favourite places in TO. I remember the first tme I saw Kensington Market - I was blown away. I thought it was going to be like our little farmers' market at home. Wrong!! Of course this was back in the 60's when regulations were not as stringent and the shop keepers ept live chickens in crates right out on the street. I had never eaten Halvah before plus, plus I could go on forever. They will have a blast there. And CasaLoma, wow they will love that. Can you imagine being wealthy enough to be able to live in that as just a family with lots of servants. It sounds like a fun packed week Betty. They are going to be plum tuckered out when they leave.
As to taking the week off???
They will arrive late on Thursday night as I'm sure they'll do stop stopping along the way..Friday I work from home so I'll send Joyce and the girls on a mission to pick up hypertuffa supplies, Friday night we'll do something..Saturday / Sunday / Monday I'm off (Monday is Victoria Day weekend) and the rest of the week everyone will be in Jamaica and I'll be at home answering calls .
I went to look for hypertufa molds, should have taken some measurements, think I have the small muschroom figured out..will measure tonight and then see what I can do from there..it would be much better if the 8 girls could do project together, that way we'd have more time together for playing so we'll have to see how that turns out soooo it was lucky that the timing worked out.
Think Dianne there are 96 rooms in CasaLoma, hopefully the grounds will be in their glory. what amazes me is how far from the waterfront, long trip in those days to trek up the hill to the castle.
When Crissy was here we went to CN Tower for lunch, one of the attendants serving tables was someone I knew so we got an extra treat, we did go to CasaLoma but the last tour had closed..I'm hoping if I plan it right and the girls are early risers that we could go to Kensington before CasaLoma, if not then it will be a late/late night at Kensington. They say it's quite something, can you believe I've never been so am really excited about that part.
As for Wasaga Beach, if weather co-operates we'll sit for a bit and enjoy..each season they have over 2 million people who visit, hopefully they will not all be there for May long weekend lol While Judy and Steve were waiting for everyone to arrive at the gathering they biked over to Wasaga and sat in the fun..they sure enjoyed it. Just as good as being in the islands, much cheaper..
Dianne, sorry to hear about the kitty and the vet's assistant..how tragic!
Oh my wish I was in the group coming to see you Betty. I remember the "hike" up to CasaLoma...it was snowing as we were there in December. What a wonderful day that was.
you'd just have to fly to Joyce's in Cincinatti and hitch a ride
come on over...lol
always nice getting company, I get to see my own area which normally I never take the time to do
Dianne, how far are you from Betty's place? Time for a nice drive and join them?
Too far right now LK. While I haven't had any dizzies for quite awhile I am not ready for a drive. Also I have company coming right at the same time. Warren's niece is coming for a visit and I haven't seen her for a few years so we have lots of catching up to do.
Enjoy your visit Dianne, maybe someday you and Betty can meet up?
We will LindaKay, one of these days Dianne and I will meet up.
Dianne, glad you are having company on the long weekend!
Well, birds are singing, leaves are almost fully open on the trees, going to go see if I can cut grass..here is hoping the black flies aren't out
Debbie, where are you girl??
