Best/Worse/What did I learn today?Chat with friends!

Afternoon everyone. Yes, I had Internet service this morning, but we had to be to the hospital at 6:30, so it was a very early day for us. My surgery was at 8:00, and I was back home my noon. As soon as I got home, I laid down for a nap, as I was so groggy form the meds. They took more xrays of my fingers, but I have to call tomorrow for those results. They only put steri strips on my knee, as the incision was so small to remove the cyst, and I am walking with no crutches or cane. So far there is not too much pain.

Shirley, please don't every feel sorry for posting here, and feel like your complaining! You need to unload somewhere, and that is what we all are for.
I for one, am glad to hear your standing up to them, for your sake and for Tubby! It is about time they are finally getting the hint!
Take care and stick to your guns.

Bev and Holly, your blooms are so pretty. Keep them coming please?
Dianne, please don't wait till Tuesday, call the local police department today, then get yourself to the ER or clinic please?

So glad LindaKay that everything went well and you've little to no pain, however as the meds wear off I'm sure if not pain you'll be feeling some discomfort! Let's hope the stays gives them more of an insight as to what's happening with the fingers..

ImGine, just walked in, bath is already filled aand calling my name, turned up the furnace so I'll be toasty after the bath so you know what kind of night I'll be having...this morning I had a bit of time to spare so cut out and did a bit of sewing on yet another block, imagine if I went downstairs for an hour I'd have yet another done..just have to find energy

Betty you have until AUGUST to get the blocks done!!!! I haven't even started due to the eye problem so slow down my dear - no rush-----
LK - so glad to hear the operation on your knee went okay. Rest up and please let us know what they say about the fingers!!!
Bev and Holly, thank you so much for the hints of springtime and warmth. Cold and rainy here today and for the rest of the week as well. The grands are on school vacation this week and I feel so bad for them...

Dianne, I hope this finds you feeling okay. A dog bite is nothing to mess with. If these people are that irresponsible as to let the dog run free then I would wonder also about registration and shots. I'd be at the health clinic and police station right away...Hope the situation improves greatly....Did I understand you say that the people who owned the dog just stood there? Wow----

On the way home today I remembered that there migh have been chicken fingers in the freezer, that and fries would be all I need for supper...No fingers, clean fridge,dishes in dishwasher put away and garbage by the roadside so guess Cathy dropped b today! I imagine the chicken fingers my have been freezer burnt. Now what?? Could get out of my jammies & order something from the restaurant ..who knows they just may deliver. ....lol

Wow,, I missed so much today... I was locked out of Daves for most of the day.. kept saying server problems.,..

Mary. I have no idea on the trees, They were from someone else at the RU and I will try to find out who. She gave me a ton of them so I shared!! They are for my neighbors yard. the one who I watch, mopw and collect his mail. He asked me if I could get him some ceders. I am pretty sure that is what they are. I will go look on the threads when my internet starts acting right. It is slow and boggy right now.

Shirley,, I really, really wish I was at your house right now. I would seriously kick some booty. They are really making me sooooo mad. How cruel and thoughtless can they be?? Never mind I know, I deal with it everytime I have to talk to my so called family. Please know that not one person here would begrudge you venting!! If it will help, then please vent away!!

Dianne,, here if you are bitten by a dog it has to be put in quanentine for 10 days after that they also have to pay for doctor bill and fines. If the dog attacks more than once, it is put down!!! I would have grabbed the biggest stick I could find and beat that dog to death,, sorry, but Goober was bitten last year by this little dog and they would not keep it fenced, two weeks later the darn dog attacked her again. I called the police and the dog pound, several hundreds of dollars later, they put the dog down, but not before it bit another kid in the area!!!.


Betty,, I cannot think of anything that you can do with that blue heron except bring it south with you and I will just have to take it off your hands and find somewhere to put it in my house. I offer this only as your friend, so that you will not have to fret over what to do with it..ROFLMWO..

As to all of your horder hubbys,,, well here at my house I am the horder. I keep saying I can use everything sooner or later and the piles just keep getting bigger,,, bad elf,,, very bad elf!!!

About the bog /lotus pond area, I am loving the new area we set up and will send more pics as it sets up better. I lost my GIANT EE's, and all my vines, and now today my passion fruit vine is dead!! Ralph is furious!! I just had to walk away. I have some starts of it on the back deck so at least I will be able to start over again. I swear I am going to get a motion activated camera and put it where they will be caught doing thier nasty little games!!

I have not spoken to them in 2 years,, you would think they would just leave me alone and ignore me too.Right??

Oh, well it will all turn out,, as Shirley says what goes around comes around.

Mary.. I am sure that Bunny had designs on you.. he looked a little mischivious!! lol

Well, they brought dear MIL back this morning. She handed Tubby the Easter card from the youngest girl. I guess they went into the sis's house in town where all the siblings are staying. You can bet I was the topic of conversation. The only thing it showed me was an a---- the whole group is. If the girls decide to come out there will be no hugs as I don't feel that closeness anymore. If they start in on anything I will tell them they need to leave and not to come back.

I just feel so numb all over and it's hard at night to make him comfortable when he's having a hard time. I just need to stay close to him. With the Lord's help we'll make it okay. Thank you all for the support and prayers, they mean alot.

I'll close for now and wishing all sweet dreams and get well wishes for all those that need it.

Thanks so much for all of your concern. It was more of a graze than a bite but I bled like a stuck pig because of meds that I have to take. I will be going to the Doc's for a tetnus shot today (I am sure I have told you dad had lockjaw in the early 1950's so I am super vigilent about being up to date). Plus I will report the dog to the Department of Health so someone will visit the dog's owners asking them to show proof of vaccinations. Have been soaking my hand in epsom salts and it looks good - no redness nor much swelling. And yes Barb you did read correctly the owners were standing in their yard and just watched.
Mary I will trade you the Cucs in Sour Cream recipe for the fabulous sounding dip you made Easter Sunday. Deal?
SHirley I know that you know but it doesn't hurt for you to hear repeatedly from us that we are all right behind you and only the key board away. Vent all you want sweetie - we are all good listeners and treasure the fact you trust us enough to share all of these events.
Dh made me a stout walking stick/club to use on my walks. It reminds me of the rods we used to use when we showed our cattle or were trying to get those cows to move where we wanted them and they didn't want to go!The stick has a loop of leather going through it so it wraps around my wrist. Of course I didn't see the dog yesterday - the couple were working and the 2 dogs were in their pen outside.

Betty we still have snow in the woods - ugh! But my Spring bulbs are slowly making their presence seen. Some gorgeous yellow and rosey coloured hyacinths up in 1 of the gardens.
Rain for the next 4 days, haven't turned Frankie on yet Betty what's he saying?
Need to get moving, BBL. And yes Betty I think you and are of an age where we did swim in those frigid waters on Victoria Day weekend and I don't know about you but I also swam my last of the season swim Thanksgiving weeked. Ya know what, I think we originated the Polar Bear Club? lol

LOL we did originate the polar bear club..not so sure I was as brave as you and swam Thanksgiving though unless it was in a heated pool..glad with tender love and care you gave the bite that no infection has set in...

Haven't watched the Frankie's yet as I've been playing downstairs..was trying to get the block that was sitting on the table done when I realized that I didn't have the center piece embroidered, have a few predone but done matched the color..the block will be gorgeous BUT not sure many put black/gold in their quilts..should have checked that out earlier but the pieces were already cut and I thought I'd use them up...me playing while machine is doing the work..wish I had one to do house cleaning lool

See my little friend, hope he doesn't think he's going to make a hole in my deck railing..hard to see but he's right next to the post as you descend the staircase..

Well, the nurse lied about the stri strip. When I removed the bandage to adjust it, I have 10 stitches down the center of my knee. Not real pretty, but not sore either! I Imagine it will be this afternoon sometime, before I can get an answer back about my fingers.
Shirley, maybe if you ignore the MIL, like you are the girls, she will get the hint, and not come back? When she goes to where tubby is trying to sleep, I would place myself between him and her, and say, DON'T GO IN THERE, HE IS SLEEPING!

Shirley, you have done NOTHING wrong. Keeping Tubby resting and with what he needs is your job. Unfortunately, part of this is playing "Good cop bad cop" and it falls on your shoulders as you are the ONLY one that has common sense right now it seems.

DO NOT feel badly....it is YOUR home. You and Tubby did the right thing allowing them to come visit....now it is time for them to leave until they are called again, for whatever reason you choose. AND they need to know this was TUBBYs wishes. Rest sweetheart, with your love of your life. I have been in your shoes....and it is the hardest place to be.

IF you need....call in Hospice services. They will help you out...and put "rules" in order. They did that for me also and fielded phone calls and the works.

Breenie gave me this calender with a variety of quilting projects, this is a second block i am trying and, to my delightful surprise, they are coming out to exact size!! lol, and i do have to be happy about that!!

I is here, lol, Paul tried to repair my work computer but it's just not working and I've been looking at LeeAnn's wedding photo's and film so been quite busy..did get a chance though to cut out month 8 of the Christmas quilt..total of 24 deer, 48 antlers and shortly I start on their ears...Paul was laughing..said it was wonderful to see me looking a lot better..

His birthday so he went with the girls for lunch..Suzanne is out of the office today so think seeing as I won't get out until 2pm for lunch I'll go over to chinese buffet and that way I can skip supper...

Judy, it does feel so wonderful to feel as though I want to be out creating, these past months have taken a tole on me..excited to be taking on projects and starting to get my creative juices flowing..

When at Greg's on sunday I was talking secondary pond...Kyle pipes up and says, 'grandma, wasn't I at your house last weekend and you were cleaning up your pond saying you were going to fill it in, too much work for you as your are getting older???' hmmm guess some kids do listen to what you say..lol

It will just hang Betty. Judy you were right. I am redoing the fish pond into just a waterfall and flowers. You are ok. I am the one with old timers LOL.

Had chinese and now I'm watching a movie 'End of the Affair' and reading Birds & Blooms ..just finished my cut outs..can't complain about this job can I? And to think they pay me for this...

Dianne I have the same problem with dogs running loose in our neighborhood, it's in the country and everyone who has a dog doesn't want to take care of it and expects the dogs' actions to be ok by everyone, and they're absolutely not. Dianne sounds like you need to make a dr visit if you haven't done so yet, wonder if you have high blood pressure.

I haven't fixed the leak in the ATV, I just know how to stop it by shutting off the fuel. I'm not sure what it is, but I think the floats in the carburetor are not seating after the motor is shut off and causing it to leak. (when a motor is shut off these things called floats inside the carburetor are supposed to fall down and block fuel "seating" from traveling through it and into the engine, I don't think this is happening.) To fix this you have to take the carb apart and clean the floats and the float needle and give it all new gaskets and I'm not willing to do that, I'll let someone else do that :)

My week has sucked, tornadoes and more tornadoes! Thankfully we didn't get any damage last night but I got put in the shelter twice, the first one went just north of us and the second one went directly over the house but it was just a funnel cloud and we got a 70mph whirlwind out of it for about 10 seconds, but there was a lot of damage in the state and 7 people have died, 4 in a town called Vilonia that was completely wiped out which is about an hour and a half from me. Hot Springs was hit and Hot Springs Village was hit, but I don't know where the other 3 deaths were from. They had us in a Potentially Dangerous Situation and guess what??? We get to be there again this evening into tonight and they're expecting the same weather over the same areas. I heard that one tornado was on the ground for 45 minutes then we lost power so I don't know how long it was on the ground or how far it tracked.

Crissy sorry to hear that tornado's are now in your neighborhood..nice to know though that with your shelter you are safe if at home...dreadful the amount of deaths that have occured and I think they were saying that May is the month for tornado's..think Mother Nature got mixed up..

Funny the atv is running well if the floats/gas had a problem..do you have someone who would come to the house to do the repairs..

Betty the Tornado season starts here in mid Feb and goes to mid May, but we can have tornadoes at any time of year, when I moved here we had a big outbreak in January. Some meteorologists say that tornadoes are most likely to happen in the spring and fall, moreso in the spring, but there is no actual tornado season because they can happen at any time. I want to move back to the west coast!

Betty, remember the tornado that went thru Kentucky when we were down there....all three of us were together when we passed the park it had hit the day before. And that was August.

Ric got his new Scooter running. He must go to DMV tomorrow to get it licensed and we will need learners permits. LOL Ric rode a Motorcycle from his teens into his thirties and never did have a license so he will have to get a learners permit. I ran one for a few years in my late 20's and never did get around to getting a license either so I must go tomorrow and get a permit, too. I took it out for a little tour around the neighborhood but I won't take it out on the main roads till he has a license plate on it. It sure is a lot easier to run than my old motorcycle electric start and automatic no kicking it to get it started or changing gears with your foot. LOL It should pay for it's self in gas savings.

Yes I do Debbie, we parked under the oveass so we would be protected..was high winds and did a bit of damage..when Crissy came to visit, my community didn't want her to get lonesome...major hit, lots of business and homes gone..was quite interesting having Crissy explain the highs/lows of the land explaining why it hit where it did..

Wondering if I should go pick up bingo cards tonight, should play them even though I know that Ann will not be over...keep having this bad feeling today...

Rather than come in and lay on the couch I decided to head downstairs, finish the quilt block I was working on this morning and play with making pot holders then I remembered as I had taken out a thick pork chop which I had forgotten I had done I should at least cook it, chop it up ad have with rice tomorrow night, tha being said I thought as the last 2 meals I cooked I burnt to a crisp I had better stay upstairs until it's fully cooked..wouldn't want to pull a Debbie..lol

That's a beauty Holly..you'll so enjoy riding it... your yard and gardens look so nice ..lush green!

Be careful, not your riding expertise but the others I worry about who aren't watching while you are out driving.. Now that you are in the land of the employed I think you should have a 2nd one so you both can save on gas..

Betty, no that was when we were at Sharons that one happened...was horrible storm. Got back to her house and the power had gone out. I was out in the storm taking pictures.

When we were in...or near Memphis I gues with Crissy...a tornado had gone thru a ball park and ripped up the backstop and metal bleechers were twisted....along with trees mangled.

Yes, worried about our Shirley...but know she will post when she gets a rest. She needs to rest so much.

Did you get these storms today Betty, it has been horrible here. Shane is at a track meet 90 minutes south of here....and they have put the kids on the bus twice because of lightening and downpours. "Rule law" they have to wait until it clears for 15 minutes to resume....if takes longer than certain amount of time....they have to forfiet or reschedule.

Checking in, spent all day at the doctors, Came home just in time for Ralph to be going to work. So here I sit home alone and not wanting any food.
Had to take a gazillion tests today. Doc doesnot think I have RA. But does think I have something else, doe's not want to alarm me, but says something is seriously wrong with my skin and joints. Took a biopsy of my skin too. Also perscribed 4 new perscriptions, for what I donot know..These Docs, think I am made of money I think, Insurance will not pay for the meds and splints he ordered for my hands. They want over $200.00 for everything. We have not got that in bank so will not be filling those ..sigh,,


I told Ralph nothing about any of this. Will wait til test results come back.

Yikes, Kris, you absolutely need those meds..do you have a few plants or crafts you could sell to help out??? Let's hope results come back and it's simply a matter of what you are eating and meds...

Ann called, could tell she'd been crying..I asked if Mike was worse, she said he's doing poorly so she'll not risk going out for an hour..cannot blame her..

Kyle dropped in for an hour and just left so as he was leaving I debated should I or should I not go and get bingo cards next door..Kyle said I can't win if I don't play..that kid is much too smart for his age..lol

Reminded me to make it a quick outing for the cards because pork shop will soon be cooked..

So best I go upstairs and win some $$$..wouldn't that be nice..a new riding lawnmower would just fit the bill

Elf, I am so sorry what a terrible day. How scary that must be not knowing. You would think they would explain a little to you at least what they are testing for. Sending hugs and healing thoughts your way.

We never had tornadoes in our area when I was a kid. I remember that there was one once that was 60 miles away. Now we have a couple of them every year. Not huge ones like they do out in the Midwest but smaller ones and they can really do some serious damage. We don't have much in the way of earthquakes either. There is some flooding issues but even that isn't like other areas. Most of the small towns and cities along the river are above flood stage and unless you live along one of the creeks you are pretty safe.

Oh I know all about other people not watching or seeing. That is why Ric gave up his last motorcycle 30 years ago. He was in the passing lane on the expressway. A woman pulled out in the lane in front of him. So close that he hit her bumper with his tire. They were on an expressway doing at least 60. She was so surprised when she felt the bump that she hit the brakes and he hit her again. Then she looked in the rear view mirror saw him and her reaction was to hit the brakes again. He was so lucky to be able to keep the bike upright and not go down. He was ready for her the third time and had gotten enough space between them to get around her on the inside lane. Big thing was that the vehicle behind Ric was an 18 wheeler. If he had gone down the truck would never been able to stop and it near creamed the back end of the ladies car when she hit the brakes the third time. He sold his bike after that and told me he wanted to live long enough to see his son grown up. I think this little scooter will be just fine for us now. We will be watching those other drivers.

Lordy Holly, after that experience I doubt I'd ever get on a bike! Gee whiz Louise, almost like he had a sign saying 'hit me/hit me". Must go look exactly where in PA you are on the map to be out of harms way re weather...
