Betty I live in south central pa. Between Harrisburg and York. Just follow Interstate 83 from one city to the other and I am about half way down. Well maybe it isn't all that safe in my area. I did just think I am only about 5 miles from the nuclear plant TMI. LOL
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?Chat with friends!
Did check the map, put you in my contacts and it brought me to your neck of the woods..darts, I'm usually always travelling 1-75 way..do you have a pool?
((((((((Kris))))))))) Let's hope you don't need those meds - that $200 is a lot of $$ to spend, f'sure.... Not $200, but can you afford some of it? I suppose no insurance that direct bills?
Judy - my knee is almost back to normal, and most times I forget I even sprained it, so it's not an issue anymore, thank goodness lol
O where, o where is our Shirley?????
Well, I was able to rake up the dead leaves from last year, in my tiny gardens. That felt good, cuz underneath was some new growth - lillies and irises (I hope) and other similar stuff. Just low-growth right now, and it rained today a bit...... but it's supposed to snow a bit on Friday. Maybe just the kind that melts as soon as it touches the ground.
Hello To All ;
Yes - I'm a bit worried we've usually heard from Shirley by now. I'll think positive that finally everyone left her alone and she is getting some much needed and deserved rest.....
Holly - Wow - what a horrible story... I don't think I'd be able to get on one again but I'm a scaredy cat....Dad wanted a motorcycle all his life and Mom always said no. She was a nurse, once an ER nurse. They divorced at 29 years back in 1986?, and he remarried and just a couple years ago.... after Mom had passed... Dad and 2nd wife bought a trike took it out on a trip and got in a very bad accident. She was Very hurt and still recovering. And my Dad was the best driver I've ever known... drove 18 wheelers once too.... very strange....
Anyway... yes - should save a LOT of gas... and I know your DH will be extra careful.
(((HUGS))) Elf ! OMG... I have to agree with Betty - sell some of your art / crafts and get those meds ! Get those meds girl or I'll call Goober and sick her on you !!!!
Crissy - Prayers.... I am So glad you have that tornado shelter.... I remember you showing Tubby & all of us pics on here of it once... and when they installed it...
Judy - Yay - you and Breenie get to go Prom dress shopping ! Funny JC Penney's had some last week...and our prom was long gone.. April 1st... Love your idea of reading the book on tape...
Dianne... DEAL ! I love cuke recipes because I love Cukes and I know even with one plant I'll need ideas but I planted two of them this year... It's hard to find good cucumber recipes....
Betty - love your little friend the woodpecker.... I suppose if he drills a little hole there you can just hang a picture or some art/crafts.... Hm... concerned about your 'bad feeling' I know I get those sometimes... Kyle is awesome....
Thunder ((HUGS)) Yes Book to Judy... So exciting ! Sign that back page and maybe it will come back around when your son gets back....wouldn't that be neat if it travels around to a bunch of DGer's then back !
Susan... Waving to you and Bev and Barb and LK and others.... I hope to see you gals on here a bit later... I'll check in to see how you are all doing and hope Shirley has popped in...
((HUGS))
Mary
I am here. Betty, that block is so pretty!
Well, it is 85 degrees, at 9:30 at night. it reached 103 this afternoon. They said our area is the longest, and hottest drought we have had in 105 years! Sure hope th at is not a sign of what our summer will be!
Holly, so glad he knew how to handle that bike! Yikes, I would have had to go home and change my clothes after that scare! LOL!!!
Kris, talk to the pharmacy. Lots of times, they have programs to help out those that don't have insurance.
Wow - LK.... That's pretty warm ! What do you have growing? I know the drought / heat makes your gardening difficult... Like your idea for Kris... and also might not hurt to contact the Pharmaceutical Companies... they may have some programs as well...
Can you grow Brugs? I just passed over a blog while looking for info on Brugs and someone was looking for you... LOL
HUgs,
Mary
Yes,I grow brugs here! They are one of my favorite plants. I had 65 of them last year, but I can't get them to make it through the winter. So far this year I have about 20. My roses are doing really well right now! I have 5 different ones, and they smell so pretty! Who was looking for me?
Betty, If you come this way I would love to have you stay. Yes I do have a pool just an above ground but it is cooling and relaxing to sit by and play in. You can hang out in the Gazebo or the Hot Tub on the deck and old one not too fancy but it works great and we could sit under the stars with some wine and a snack and talk the night away. If you would like we could take my son's pontoon boat to the river for a ride. There is a State Park just a few miles away. We have plenty of parking space for your trailer and an extra bed if you don't mind sharing the room with all the Grans toys. LOL We can tour my garden with a shovel and you could take some plants. We are near Hershey, Gettysburg and Lancaster (Amish Quilts) so if you wanted to stay a few days and check out all the things in our area you would be very free to come and go. With or without me depending on what is happening. Any travel companions would be very welcome as well.
Linda, I don't think I told you how glad I am that you have gotten your knee taken care of. Hope it does well for you with little or no trouble. Mine is pretty good every so often it flares up but mostly it is just fine.
Hey LK - Well - it was someone from Texas they wanted you to dmail them and had something to send you... I just recognized your name in the subject line and was being nosy... You can probably find the post....
I'm seeing Brugs in both sun and shade and I'm wondering where you grow yours? We have some HUGE ones along the back fence line.... and they get big and very pretty (Peach/Pink) but I got some "Special" brugs in the Round Up and we planted them in an area with filtered sun and about 2 hours of full sun... so I'm hoping they do well with some shade.
Then I went on plantfiles and saw some folks have them planted with coleus and other shade plants ?
Oh Hey Holly ! We cross posted ! Well I don't know about Betty but "I'm In"... Sounds good to me LOL...
My sis heads up for the big Civil War Re-enactment in Gettysburg. More my speed would probably be Hersheys and the Hot Tub / Wine offer...
((HUGS))
Mary
Some of my brugs are on the East side of the property, and they only get sun from about 9 - 3. They get sahde the rest of the afternoon. They are all in pots.
The rest of the brugs are in the front yard in full sun, in the raised bed. They take a lot of water, but if you keep up with them, they do pretty good! Your best bet, is to keep them in pots, move them around the yard, to find their happy place. And don't forget the fertilizer. They like it several times a week, and I double the recipe. I use miracle grow. The blue granuels you mix with water. If you have some sort of animal manure, (cow, horse) very dried out it works too.
Thanks LK ! I can Definitely Miracle Gro them ! Just wrote in my calendar... I'll feed them 2 tblsp per week in gallon of water every week when I feed my hibbies... :)
:-( guess there's no Hot Tubbing for me this year, seeing as how my DH let ours freeze and it split a hole in the shell...... when the weather is warm enough and the ground is thawed, we can see how much it would cost to move the tub enough for them to get at the area that cracked... it's up against the deck and can't be reached now. It's likely more than we can afford, but I put in a call tonight to see how much it would cost....... OR maybe they can crawl under the deck and get at the access door that way.... we'll see! It's only about $50 to fix the crack (plus $70 to come out) so that's not much......
Holly - I may come out to join you in the hot tub LOL
Oh Susan! That's so sad... but not too much to fix....
I forgot where you will all be moving when you can.... close by ?
So Since we're the "Night Shift" and we're not sharing coffee and donuts... I'm picturing us all in Holly's Hot Tub with wine and my 7 layer Greek dip and pita chips....and Dianne's Cucumbers in Sour Cream... Yum ! Oh and Candles all around....
LOL......
Ok I made it back and we had a great camping trip.
Just waving and wishing everyone a great day.
Having computer issues and not sure how long before I loss connection.
Some bad storms maybe causing the problems.?????
Hugs to all and the coffee is on.
Morning, looks as thought we'll have a bit of sunshine this morning, rain later..I'll take what I can get...
Night shift was gabby and I'm running a tad late so will chat with you when I get to work..as my computer is not working I just might ask Paul if I can work from home tomorrow and maybe Friday if it hast been repaired..might give me a chance to have the work done on my vehicle.
Sure wish we.d hear from Shirley..if we don't today I'll place a call tonight.
Said I couldn't chat but can't resist, slap my keyboard fingers, just got to run for now!
Mary, Just ride on up when you sister comes, Gettysburg is less than an hours drive.
Linda, I love brugs but don't have any this year. I keep hearing about how easy they are to start and keep but I don't seem to have much luck keeping them going from one year to the next. I came home from a friends with cuttings last month and did get one to root but it died and the 5 other cuttings aren't rooting. I will say she had a nasty spider mite infection so that may have contributed to the problem of getting them going.
Susan, That was us a couple of years ago. Ric was doing some electrical work and must have flipped the breaker to the HT and by the time we noticed there were frozen lines. It was a mess had to take down part of the deck railing to move it and work on it. It was down for more than 6 months. Finally last fall they got it together and got it fixed. I told them I didn't want to go in to winter with it still broken.
I am heading up to my parents this morning to take them shopping. Mom says we can do that ourselves, but Dad can't drive and that is a busy parking lot and high traffic area and Mom has really let her driving skills go. They need salt for their water softener 3 bags at 40lbs a piece. Dad's not to do any lifting for a month and Mom can't lift that by herself. I tell them it is no trouble for me to come up but Mom thinks she is keeping me from doing other more important or fun things. Really what is more important than spending time with loved ones.
Morning!
Sorry, I haven't checked in before now. Well, the siblings came out yesterday morning for a short visit. I stayed in the recliner next to Tubby's bed. I kknow the oldest one (the boss) wasn't happy, but I don't care. I'm not giving up my spot for them. I told his Mom to come in and set on the couch, but she stays at the dining room table. The kitchen, dining room and living room are open to each other. I won't beg anyone. The girls came out yesterday afternoon. I exchanged pleasantries with them and they gave me a hug and kiss. I would get up now and then, but I stayed in the recliner then also. They came and talked to their Dad, but I'm not moving. They both started crying and went downstairs. I told them good bye. The boss as I call her, called later to see how things went and get a report from his Mom. I just stayed in the chair and won't respond. I had to put a extra pain patch on Tubby as his back and hips were giving him more discomfort. He moans or hums while he is resting, his Mom asked me why he was doing that, I said because he wants to I guess. I will make it thru all of this with God's help and forgiveness and all of our dear friends. I thank the Lord for all. I have no idea what the day will bring. I just take it a bit at a time.
Happy Anniversary Kris and Ralph. We wish you 50 more.Do something special to remember the day.
LK glad to hear you are doing okay and hope the report tells the Dr. what she needs to know to make those fingers right.
Betty love the pictures, but if you spray a little WD40 on the railing that little friend will not be pecking a hole in the railing. You can wash it off in a few days, but they don't like it so they find a different spot. That's what I had to do to get the barn swallows to build their nest elsewhere.
My thoughts have been of Mike and Ann and worrying about how things were going. My prayers are with with them always.
Just wanted you all to know that we are still here and doing okay. I will check in later and update you all when I can. Our love to you all. Have a great day.
Shirley
Wow, lucky I could find the office, heavy duty fog..
So let's see...
BooHoo the night shift has much better treats/drinks then we do on the day shift..we'll have to remedy that..maybe bailey's in our coffee?
Holly, I was in Gettysburg a couple of years ago when I took all the granchildren to Washington D.C....we had so much fun..even stopped at the Hershey plant and they did the tour and all the fun things..i.e. packaging of chocolates and of course got to bring boxes and photo's home with them..well maybe the photo's, think they ate the chololates right away..the kids weren't into Amish Country finds though, could have gone and they'd have walked around with me but time again was at a premium..
Usually when I'm travelling Holly is a whirlwind trip with several girls..usually just get a few hours to visit in one place so I've keymarked your location and hope to visit one day..
Holly just after our talking about motorcycles/bikes etc. on the Buffalo news this morning they had a young war veteran on who had an accident on a major freeway, the film shows him driving between 2 cars, back car hit him, threw him into the traffic, the bike got smashed up between 2 cars and how he survived I have no idea ... sent shivers up my spine..Debbie did you see that clipse??
Thunder has your son heard anything about the job..surely if they are interviewing it means they need staff..hope your phone is ringing as I type saying 'come on in - your 1st shift..
Suzanne just came in and said 'do you know when I trip is booked we are right in the middle of tornado country' oh well, we'll pay attention and take proper precautions..won't worry about it now! One of the places we were going to visit for part of a day was St.Louis, they've already been hit badly..ohhhh if we had a few extra hours I'd be heading down to New Orleans just to walk the French Quarters..you just never know, might forgo sleep and do so..wouldn't that be a blast and a complete surprise to the girls..am sure no can do though...only have 5 days..lol unless I can get the boss to agree to 1 more day..highly unlikely..
I'm sure your parents will be thrilled that you will spend part of the day with..I've been calling my mom, have to find time somehow to get to the city and see her..it's been nice talking with her, almost her old self..guess it was the worry and the pain making her so miserable.
This morning I took a walk of the gardens, oh my, can't believe how much growth there is since last week when they were raked..few plants that usually grow 3 ft. high and difficult to divide are on my list of to do's this weekend..been looking all over for the box of seeds I set aside, think I can find them...NOT!
Laura, glad you are back and enjoyed yet another weekend of fun and sun..hope you get computer issues resolved, could be very well the storms causing it to act up..just think of the extra hours of sewing you will have that you normally play on computer..
Susan, is your hubby not a Mr. Fix-It, could he try??? Hate to see a hot tub sitting on a deck and not be able to use it..must be something you can do, if I were there, I'd try something..you know me Mrs. FixIt.
Doubt I can grow Brugs here Linda Kay?? have you ever used the time release fertilizer??? more expensive but you just throw it in the gardens and guess when you water or it rains it does wonders..love to see photo's of your brugs...how's the knee and the fingers..you get the results today right? OMG, I was in all winter and now you are in all summer, those high temps must drain you..oh poor plants in this drought, how will they survive..guess you have to hand water right?
So glad you posted Shirley, go missing a few hours and we worry about you...glad you held your guns! Perhaps their visiting will be minimal..at least telephone calls you can say you have to 'go'
When I was walking the gardens this morning (just so happy that I can do that in the morning again) I could hear his tapping on tin, then I remembered the outhouse garden shed I built last fall, yep rapping/tapping on there, must say that he'll have a sore beak if he continues on the metal roofing..ouch/ouch
Will e-mail Ann and see how she's doing? I'd call but don't want to wake Mike up if he hasn't been sleeping well..
Betty, I have seen pictures of brugs growing in Canada. I believe they keep them inside during the winter, but they bloom very well up there. Brugs need a lot more fertilizer that the shake on kind. I use miracle grow, and I feed them twice a week, and I double the recipe. If it calls for 2 tbls, per gallon, I use 4 tbls.
As soon as mine start to bloom, I will post pictures.

Knee is a little sore today, but not bad. I just called the Dr.'s office again, and I am waiting to hear back.

Thanks for the link, just might try one, could set it on the back deck..they are absolutely gorgeous..didn't realize they were a 'tree'? or is that just one type?
Just know they are going to find something that needs tending to with the finger xrays Lindakay..know you don't want to hear that but they don't seem to be improving on their own!
Hey all,
Huggs to Tubby and Shirley,
Warm thoughts and huggs to Ann and Mike
Still in bad mood,, sorry. I do have insurance, however this is what my co-pays are, so not sure how to get them, Did talk to my pharmacists and he said he had applied every discount he could find for me already,,,sigh. I will be getting two of the 6 perscriptions today. One is a nitro jell ?? It is for pain and I have to go for xrays this week too. That is another $100.00,, geez, my insurance sucks... Going away with my terrible news and bad mood.
Good morning!
Wow, missed the hot tub and goodies last night!
LOL, that's what happened when one falls into bed at a normal hour...9:30P.M.
Glad to see you all had a great chat.
Susan so glad the knee is almost healed.
Shirley, whew glad to see you post. Good for you to stick to your terms. Hope the pain patches help give Tubby some comfort.
Ahh, Betty, We too are happy to see you feeling so much better! Woohoo, almost time to get out and play.
Raining again here today, so I am now working in the Shrine- soon to be the new office! Finish dusting where I couldn't reach and shift furniture to suit better...Have to find a new home for some items. and later while I rest finish up some blocks i started!
Linda Kay, gee sure hope you hear from the Dr. soon, and sure hoping you won't be needing surgery...So glad you are not in too much discomfort with knee...Wow and Wow on your Brug tree, truely stunning!!
Crissy, My poor lil sistah! Sorry your getting hit with the tornado's! So glad you have the shelter to keep you safe. Will be praying hard they move around you...Hope the week gets better for you!
Hi Laura, glad you had such a nice time camping, look forward to seeing your photos!
Kris, sending you some gentle Arm Wraps...sure hope they find out what it is and can get healed...just hate ins. companies!
Well, ok...You know the huge Job Steve did?? Well this is what he woke up to in his E-mail!! This is the place Jake and Helped with...the tiny bit we did...I am so very Proud of him, and so thankful to his Client!
I hope this works!! The video I'd love to share with you is # 13..(if it doesn't come up right.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wu4A6ZzZRw&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL
OK...I have to run for a little bit.
Have a great day.
Most brugs, will grow as a small bush, but every now and then, I see one as a tree!
There is ne in San Antonio, at the Alamo, and it is huge! Probably about 12 to 15 foot tall, and just as wide. But it never hurts to prune them in the fall, just before it freezes. Then you can have all the cuttings for next year.
Hey Kris, sorry to hear you need so many meds! Sending prayers your way.
Yay, that works!!
Should pop up to the renovation video!!
Wow Judy. That is a great make over! Nice job!
Judy , you have reason to be proud of Steve..lordy if he wasn't an artist in his own right he wouldn't get all the recommendations from previous clients...he does wonderful work..can't wait to see what he accomplishes this side of the border..lol
So what area are you making into an office???
Where your computer is??
