What if rylaff did decide to leave for ANY REASON AT ALL ( cuz you'll never know the real reason)? So what?

I love the people here, I have been here for many years. But I am not above boycotting something that I can no longer be supportive of. Call me silly because obviously one less member here is not going to mean a darn thing to them but I have to do what I gotta do. I have to live with myself.
IB knows that after a while the hub bub will die down, memberships will pick up, new people will come. Well, unless they run the site into the ground.
Once I have finished saying what I feel in my heart, I too will walk away. Somewhere out there is another gardening site. Maybe it wont be home like this, but who knows.

I do get it. I just don't want to see everyone leave DG...I don't see that as necessary. I guess I also hold each person responsible for their own actions and saying that, "My choices are a result of my belief and value system." isn't good enough for me.

I don't see why we have to destroy something beautiful to prove a point...and in MY point of view (yes, it is MINE and possibly mine ALONE) that's what this looks like to me. It looks like a bunch of children who are basically saying, "If I don't get what I want I'll throw a fit! If that doesn't work then I'll go live with Dad!"

Guys, IB doesn't care if you throw a fit. Nor do they care if you go live with Dad. IB won't miss you one teeny little bit...but I sure will. This has been a very long day, and I've not given in. I've been called some nasty stuff here and I never got mad. I've been taunted and I took it all. That's not like me. I'm naturally an angry person. I bit my tongue all day...because I will miss you all if you're gone.

...and now I'm crying...and that's a first through all of this...guys, please. Come on. It doesn't have to be this way.

As nurses , we advocate all the time. Patients, families, kids, dogs, cats, website administrators. Bring us your tired, your sick, your downtrodden. We want to fix and save the world. And even though we have seen some horrible things and desperate tragedies, many of us still try to put on those rose tinted glasses. And when the world isnt so rosey, we sure wanna fix it.

Sorry, but I was never here to support Dave & Trish. I never had communications with them. I didn't. I did have daily communications with my friends on DG tho. That's who and what I was and will be here to support.

IB doesn't need me in anyway, shape or form. They won't notice my clicks or my sub $....whether it's here or gone.

I'm not going to let IB defeat me, but I guess I'm looking at it from a different angle than you guys are. I want to keep DG what it is by keeping as many folks here as possible. I dunno, maybe it's just my skewed view of the world....

Heathr, you make a really good point. Its just that I am one of those crazy nuts that drives a hybrid so I leave less of a footprint on the world. I buy Dawn dish detergent because for every bottle you buy, they donate to cleaning up the poor animals that we mucked up with our oil (and right now, that is getting to be very important). And while, what I do doesnt make hardly any difference at all, it is what I gotta do. It makes a difference to me.
I think you are right that IB doesnt give a crap about us. We are nothing, a speck of sand. And that is sad. And I cant support what has been done and what I believe to be lies and untruths.

It would be worth the trip to meet Dave, Trish, and the kids. I have talked face to face with them on several occasions and know they are extremely intelligent, honest, hard-working, and loving. Their children are wonderful and just what I like for kids to be -- polite and respectful but full of energy and enthusiasm. Dave is a genius and writes code fast, so he's accused of stealing it. I don't have a mind like that, but I have seen my own son running his part of a major communications company from his cell phone and laptop in my living room. There are people who think fast and create fast and don't have to steal to make it happen. I really miss my little cubit and its snazzy little recipes database. I don't think DG has a recipes database yet, but Cubits had several.

Yea, I would love to meet em too. My daughter recently got a post-Doc position in San Antonio. When I go to visit her, I might just have to look him up.

what'll happen if in the end everyone finds out that IB is in the right?

I didn't back the "wrong team".... not matter what the outcome of the survival of either Web site.

That wasn't what I meant Aguane. I mean what if IB is correct in their accusations of Dave?

That's the test of your convictions ... based on the facts you have.
Are you talking about a legal decision?
The survival or success of the Web sites?
The moral character of Miguel or Dave?
Protection of your "property"
The definition of your "property"
The application of the law?
I align with my convictions, values and belief system. All I have.

I have always gone with my nurses intuition and have never been wrong. If I tell a doctor that the patient is going to code, then he better do something about it because the patient is going to code. And if I hear two sides of a story between a husband and his wife fighting, I am not wrong on that either. Same rule applies here.

Dave.Trish and family are wonderful people beyond compare. He is a true genius and Trish is no dummy herself! Since I am not a person to judge people, I am just going to keep loving them and everyone that I love here at DG and let the Lord sort this all out. I hope and pray this will all work itself out for the good of all concerned and we can go back to being friends again. Goodnight all. It is time for my bedtime prayers and I have plenty to pray about tonight.

I didn't know the real dave or how things use to be. I found this webpage looking for a plant online when I stumbled in so many people where so helpful and welcoming.....I wanted to be a part of that, and now it seems so many people are leaving. I am so saddened this is way outta hand we don't even know the real facts. Can everyone please just wate to leave and let the lawyers fight this out. We don't want to loose you and if you go that's when they really win.........stay and vent voice your opinion but don't leave something you all love so much.

My intention wasn't to say that the accusation are true, but just wondering how many folks had even considered it. I saw the first response to Miguels post was along the lines of, "Oh, no, I'll never believe that, you can't make me!" I also wonder if Miguel had any chance of being believed...no matter what his post read.

I will offer my answer to heathr question.

If it is proven that the allegations against dave are true and that he is, as accused...a liar, unscrupulous, a thief and a hacker.
I would be gone from anything that he is a part of, now or in the future! I would have to go back and find out where I went off the "deep end", supporting such a mess.
I would look inside myself to find out.... during years of being an active part of this site while hosting co-ops, round-ups, adding to the database, and making the "new" people feel welcome, how the wool was pulled over my eyes.
Dave would have to have been an evil, two faced, liar for all these years, Yet, have everyone convinced that he is a man of integrity and values.
Those two things usually cannot live in the same brain.

My beliefs are not tied to a person, they are internal. They are what lets me sleep good at night and be a happy person during the day.

As I already said to you, in the previous thread, MiguelIB, I do not see any altruism in the threat of IB to close down Cubits but yes in the Cubits initiative of Dave.So it is clear who is more just to continue on.

Even if IB does not want to reason with the heart and pursues its purpose to keep this beneficial community Cubits closed by force, like a Corporate Goliath, what I strongly do NOT recommend it to do, as it will never prove anything good with it, no doubt Dave still will have won the case in the hearts of the people.


I send my reasoning published earlier, to you which you can argue with:

I never trust BIG corporations! Their bottom line is always the $$$$! Certainly not people. They will say what you - the consumer - wants to hear. They have lawyers on their payroll who do the dirty work.

I do NOT believe that Dave would do any of the things that IB has accused him of.

I think two big companies got involved in a sale and bloodied their hands with those of innocent people/members here and on Cubits. Dave unfortunately got caught in the middle of it all because of his amazing coding abilities and foresight about internet communities!

The truth is very simple to me ...

Do I trust Dave who has built this amazing community here and on Cubits or do I trust a big corporation that is already being sued by another website?

Answer is pretty simple to me.
