Not sure where you get your information but the threads you are discussing are open to the public. I just logged out and logged in as a guest and had no problem reading the threads you mention. A troll is simply a term for people who post on forums mainly for the purpose of stirring up distent. And yes there are several here.

Don't kid yourself, this thread is being kept open for 2 reasons: the boost the number of hits the site receives and to limit damage control to one thread instead of throughout the forums.

We all know what a troll is. There's absolutely no reason for name calling just because someone offers an opinion you disagree with. It could be that several of the people here bashing IB and others are stirring up distent. But some of you seem to think the only ones stirring up distent are the ones who are not blind to Daves imperfections. We're not stirring up anything, only rebutting some of your claims here. Last I checked, this is America where we're allowed an opinion, even if you don't like it.

And speaking of boosting the number of hits the site receives, it seems to me that all this publicity has created more hits for the new site as well. Could that be the purpose for most of the posts here? It seems that all this is not necessarily to Dave's disadvantage.

Wrong there are no ads over there so the clicks have no meaning no one is making any money over there. I did not get anything for the articles I wrote-I wrote for the joy of writing.

Well, good for him, but it's a little late for that. That should have been his advice from the get-go.

No one may be making any money there YET, but the site is getting some recognition, which is what Dave wanted from the beginning. That's why he had his member profile here set up with the meta refresh tag taking people to his site. So now, out of curiosity, people are checking it out, thanks to all this publicity.

Don't get me wrong. I think he created a great site. As a programmer I think he's pretty ingenious. I just think he handled this entire situation wrong and I'm not the only one. I imagine he's lost as many followers as he's gained. But I have no doubt that if Cubits stays online, it will do well. It's easy to use and it's something people want.

In my mind, which may not be worth much, there is a distinct difference in people giving their opinions and what I would consider a "troll". A "troll" to me are the people that have been outright rude, offensive, condescending and nitpicking for the sake of an argument. Just my 2 cents for what it is worth.

And FYI-from the beginning Dave has supported people giving their opinions, but NEVER once has he condoned the type of behavior that has taken place in all of the thread pertaining to this matter. And by that I am talking about the type of behavior that I consider to be "trollish".

Stating your reasons for the way you feel about the situation is all fine and good-and I mean this for EVERYONE, not just those supporting one side. However, nitpicking on people's grammar or spelling, insinuating that others are not intelligent, name calling, being condescending to someone in regards to their opinion and so on is NOT just stating your feelings or opinions. It is mudslinging and a form of bullying at it's lowest. I did have a higher regard for the people here before this, but unfortunately this intolerant behavior is quite simply wrong.

How many times over history were people ostracized for their opinion by having things thrown at them, having their lives ruined by intimidation and things much worse? Are we really going to allow this to continue here? I hope not, but in reality it will most likely will go on even after these threads are closed.



With that being said I do support Dave. I, just like everyone here, know a limited amount about everything that is happening and have no control over the outcome. so I am stating my feelings and opinion. Whether someone agrees with me or not is besides the point, it will not change what I feel and think.

I do think it is funny that some of the people on these threads over the weekend exhibited the poor behavior I mentioned above and then recently changed their tones to the "poor me" posts instead of their previous rude behavior.


As I said in the beginning, just my 2 cents worth which is what this thread was intended for in the first place.

I for one can't understand why so many feel the need to question and smother the loyalty others have for Dave.

I was not one of the original DG crowd, but one of the first things I knew about DG was that it was a community, a strong one, one that had a helm, Dave. He created this place and it became a family for anyone who would welcome it. They celebrated together and cried together, they laughed together and they grew together.

This is a family that was was not wiling to be left behind without what might be viewed as the ties that bind, so they followed him/them. Now that home is being threatened.

These are strong bonds and when one is attacked or wronged, the rest will circle around and protect. I think it's admirable in this day and age when so many of us are too busy to care for much besides what is immediately in front of us.

So when those of you who don't necessarily seemed to be affected by any of this try to squash their feelings and reactions, as though it shouldn't matter to them because it doesn't matter to you, is belittling, absurd, and insulting.

If what's happening doesn't matter to you than stop watching and posting to the threads and stop trying to shut everyone else up, that's what creates all the defensiveness and ugliness...making folks feel like they have to justify such passion. They shouldn't have to justify it, not to you, not to anyone else. Let them speak their mind..... Without all the constant opposition from those they thought should understand.

I think that there has been enough BASHING of and by everyone. We have never been so bias, ugly, or opinionated on this site before and yet the threads are allowed to remain. This subject has been hashed over, people have gotten hurt feelings and every thing but cussed out. This is not what Dave would want. Many of us have been to Cubits and liked it and sorry when it was closed, but it's open again and hopefully will stay. I think DG is a wonderful site and meets the needs of many differ people. If you want to leave that is your choice, but who are you hurting? If you stay I personally don't believe you are supporting IB or rejecting Dave. Have we forgotten how to play nice? None of us can really know what IB and Dave know about their contracts, only what we have been told by both. It's time to put this to bed and go back the forums and try to enjoy what we have on both sites which are really different. My 2 cents. Elaine

I agree, and I think the best thing that could happen is for DG TO FREMOVE THIS THREAD all of it, and stop this nonsence once and for all.

This issue is obviously a very divisive one and has raised emotions all around. Unfortunately it has also severely damaged our environment of respect, which should be a fundamental principle that binds this community together.

I know that some will agree with the above statement and others will find irony in it.

Regardless, it is time to now return to an environment of respect. Therefore:

1) DG will not be used as a pseudo court of law, with members, all of whom lack a complete picture of the situation, guessing as to what is happening and making guilty/non-guilty accusations. There will no longer be debate on the subject. When we, in an official manner, have information to provide, we will.

2) If you are unhappy with what is taking place and therefore no longer want to be part of the DG community, that is your choice. You can act on that choice by simply not logging back in to DG.

3) If we (the admin team) find that people are being disrespectful to others because of a differing opinion around this issue, we will make the choice for you and show you the door.

We have, throughout this issue, been very respectful of the rights of members to voice their opinions. However, many of those opinions have now been stated clearly and much of the conversation has just turned into a dogfight. That, we will no longer tolerate.
