Site Update 10/1/2025

Hello Dave's Gardeners!

A site update was released today to address several bugs.

The following has been fixed
1. "Tell Us" link on plantfiles now work as intended.
2. A "Set all details" link now appears below "gardener's notes" on all plantfiles to set multiple details at once.
3. Slashes will no longer appear when a contest entry description contains an apostrophe
4. 500 Errors when submitting a plantfile comment has been fixed.

I know I asked once but I guess I need to ask again. Why do I have to preview some of my posts? If I click on post reply I am expecting the it to post no to open a different page so I can click on post reply a second time.

Where are you seeing this behavior? I just posted this reply to your comment and it posted right away.

As before it has happened on a thread. It is the way I have lost a lot of posts. Here is one of the posts.

I would like to know if we now have to preview every post. Again I posted on Sunday 10/16 at around 8:53 AM. I did catch it a post it but it doesn't happen all the time. So for me this is new. I would like an answer please!

SO YOU HAVE MADE CHANGES AGAIN AND NO INFO ABOUT IT. SO HAS DG CHANGED TO HAVING TO PREVIEW POSTS???? I LOST ANOTHER LONG POST AND NOW I AM REALLY MAD ABOUT ABOUT THIS. JUST DID THE TEST ABOVE AND IT SAYS PREVIEW AND POST REPLY. SO IF I CAN DO EITHER WHY IS IT MAKING ME CHOOSE PREVIEW?

SO I HIT SUBMIT REPLY AND IT WORKED. THE TEST ABOVE DIDN'T SUBMIT THE REPLY IT HAD YET ANOTHER PLACE TO PREVIEW AND THEN EDIT AND THEN SUBMIT REPLY. WHAT IT THE WORLD IS GOING ON????

So how long do I have to wait for at least an attempt at a reply? Is there no one paying one bit of attention to DG? And you might want to do something about the spam right under this thread.

Again for the many years I have been here I have only had to preview when using photos. Other than that I didn't have to. Now I have no idea what in the world DG has done to continue to make my posts vanish.

Thank you so much for your reply to my questions. Who can answer the question about the need to preview a post? Why is it okay for my posts to vanish? And why am I paying for this subscription to be ignored by DG?

Very sorry I did not see your responses here. I have tested in the forum thread you provided and clicked on the "post reply" It posted immediately.

There has been no change. Are there circumstances were you are not seeing this button? If so, what are you using to browse the site? (mobile/desktop?) (safari/Chrome?)

What is happening is sometimes it will post, sometimes it doesn't. And then sometimes there is preview post and post reply. When I click on reply I assume it will reply. I have been doing this since I joined in 2002.

So now sometimes I think it has posted and I lose the post. Other times the post will still be there after I hit submit. At that time there is my post with options and then another box to deal with after I do an edit I guess.

You mentioned to me in an earlier post that I need to hit the right button so I took that as something had changed. And it is still happening and no one has fixed it.

In a dmail from August 2 you mentioned when I preview I have to hit the right button because there are two previews. I have not been using the preview button at all. I think the only time I have is to post a photo. So yes, something has changed and it makes no sense if you are telling me I have to hit the right button after I preview since I am not previewing.

This is just great - another long post on the parking lot forum has vanished. So please someone share with me what is happening. I clicked on post reply twice and now there is nothing there.

I do not have to preview when posting a picture, Elsie. I never have to preview, just click post reply and it goes where it is supposed to.

Elsie, what are you using to browse the site? (mobile/desktop) (browser)

Laptop with Windows 11.

I use Brave.

I just posted my reply and it didn't reply. I have two pictures that will show you what is on my screen

I want you to know that when I hit reply I could have closed the window and gone elsewhere and therefore lose my post.

Hi Elsie,

I have discovered the issue you are reporting is linked to the Brave browser. I have asked our tech team to look into the issue. In the meantime, using a different browser such as Chrome would be recommended.

I'll update you once I have more information.

I replied to your post but how surprising that is vanished. I have been using Brave for quite a while. This has been happening since August. Another big fail by DG to just ignore all of my questions. And added to this I also sent a DMail. But of course I don't know if there are any notifications from Dmail.

I have no idea if I need to preview and update this and then post - what a PIA!!!

And I guess you all think I am going to get another browser just to come here? I am so glad I pay for this subscription.

Hi Elsie,

I have found a workaround if you would still like to use the Brave browser. In the URL Bar, you click on the Brave logo and click "shields down for this site"

This will enable the "post reply" button to work properly.

I will try this.

I was looking for something and found so much spam on the site. Under Discussion - most recent and most active. I would have thought someone was checking these useless group of posts.

Is someone actually checking for spam on a daily basis? Someone just shared with me that she ran into spam.

It all appears to be Temu "codes" and from all parts of the world. Wish administration would get on it and delete them.

We do our best to remove the spam. It comes in big waves so sometimes it's difficult to manage.

Is someone checking the site for spam on a daily basis? It seems to be rampant so maybe someone should.
