New bees chit chat thread...Seed Junkies welcome

Hi All

I'm working can't play. :(

Lollyjean: here's the lasagna bed thread: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1037637/ It's in the Beginner Flower forum if you get lost or the thread doesn't work.

Keep the ball rolling ladies. Will check in later. :)

OK, I made a thread for everyone to make a list of their seeds they HAVE available to trade on the seed forum. Go list them. ONLY what you have for trade-the things you WANT still go on the other thread.

Washington, IN(Zone 6a)

OK where's the link to it mekos? LOL

Washington, IN(Zone 6a)

OH forgot. I just talked to our neighbor lady and they have horses and I ask if we could buy the manure or just have it and she said we could have all we wanted Yahoo !!! I wasn't really wanting to have to buy all of it I needed, so now I don't haveta. I just might get to start me a Lasagna bed. and still have enough to put on our regular garden.

Great Flower. That will be a good one. I always heard the horse manure was the best one. Because horses only eat certain greens, It's better for the gardens.
I made the thread on the seed forum but (sorry) I don't know how to do that link stuff. It's over there by the one for list what you want here. Mine is list what you have here.

Great thread Mekos. Here's the link for it: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1038709/

I'll have to make up my list and post. I do have seeds I probably won't plant. Arejay already has half of them so I can spread them out to others. Good idea.

Can't let "them" get all the good trades. We can still get in there and be nice too. I'm trying to be nice you guys. I almost went and listed them all(200 or more) one at a time, each on a new thread. That would have been mean-ish. Oh well, I got a big bag here for arejay too, just waiting for a few more to add to it before sending it. We'll keep the auction going and next week, a couple days before time, I'll announce it at the TOP post of mine. Hehehe And we keep posting and keep it at the top od the list. I'm not dumb, just nice. More ways than one to skin a cat.(owww, sorry Cue) more ways than one to get er done.

Information on horse manure, while it is very good'' nutrients wise'' it will also add weed seeds (if not left to heat first) .If you can find someone with goats it is better , because they are ruminants it destroys weed seeds.

Ah ha, I filled mine with goat manure. Hehehe Have bunches of it since I have several goats. However with the scraps of food I threw in, I now have cantelopes, tomatoes and peppers all sprouting in there,Along with an earthworm snake, and my lasagna bed is for flowers. The earthworm snake was evicted, but the vegies keep coming back. Mostly tomatoes and jalepenyo peppers.(probably didn't spell that correct.) As soon as I get the 3-4 inches of top soil on there, I'm going to cover it with plastic to kill off any left over seeds or weeds or germs, until spring.

Washington, IN(Zone 6a)

Sounds like your trying to start a veggie garden mekos LOL

Those earthworm snakes look weird to me. I had never seen one until we went to the Nature Center at Spring Mill State Parks a few weeks ago.

I know Flower, I didn't think about the seeds of the scraps sprouting. I think when I cover it and the sun shines on the plastic it will heat up the pile so hot it will kill anything growing . So maybe that will help. I can't believe how quiet it is. Where is everyone?

Your veggies will grow great in the compost or lasagna bed!

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

Yeah - she's all recoverd and back, good as new!

Hi cue!

Palm Coast, FL(Zone 9a)

Hi loca :)

Evening all! How's the sprouts? (Do I need to ask?)

I'm sprouting away. Don't know about anyone else. Got some rain today. My puya is growing so good. I'm tickeled pink. Several little beauties out there.

How did you sprout the puya? I haven't started mine.

Put soil in a pot, sprinkled the seeds on top, sprayed with water bottle and set on heat mat with grow light on top. The key is warmth, not so much the light. I just kept inside where there wasn't much light so I needed the grow light. But they sprouted after a little over a week and growing great.

Washington, IN(Zone 6a)

Well I haven't sowed mine either ,but will now that mekos told us how. LOL

Going to hit the hay. Nite all.

Nite Flower. Thanks Mekos. I may put mine on to cook as well.

Night Flower. Don't cook em, Seray. I cooked some water lily pads, I was trying to get to grow a new one. But I finally got it figured out and got babies out there now. Did the vivap thing on my tropical Tina. Woo hoo. It worked. Now, just got to keep them over winter without freezing them to death. Man.

Well, I'm out of here tonight too. Talk to you tomorrow. Good night all.

Nite Mekos.

I sent you mail Seray, flower, and arejay. Night

Good morning all! Good to know that we are all busy! Spent all day hauling manure yesterday, so wasn't here much. But, today I will check in once in awhile, as now have to unload it and get some things planted. Have lots of work to get done outside, now that winter is so close! And still collecting seeds, of course, and will have to go thru them all and see what I can put together for a list of haves to trade too! Mekos, so glad your friend is doing well and home! And Mindy, so happy to hear the boys are doing much better too! Sending prayers for their Mom now! BBL

Washington, IN(Zone 6a)

GOOD MORNING ALL ! Won't have a lot of time on here today as will be going south to see GDs but will be here later tonight.

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Well!! I sure got my butt in a jam.....again. Must like to talk too much on the wrong threads. I guess I'm more of a chiit chatter than a trader but I like to do both. Thank you all for the Guidiance, Lord, knows I need it.

Sundance, WY(Zone 3b)

Well, you just chit chat all you want here with us! We like it, and don't mind a bit. LOL! Apparently, most of us do the same, which is why we all get along together so well. Too funny!

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

I know. Sometimes it is like "open mouth, insert foot" good thing I don't have big feet. :-) I know how to get in trouble,
sure don't need any help. I pop in and out of the house several times a day and when ever I do if I need a question
answered I just pop on here.

Sundance, WY(Zone 3b)

Well, I can't answer many questions, but I always have an opinion, (usually nobody wants it LOL!) and that always seems to get me in trouble too. TeeHee!

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Yep, that's what makes us so darn lovable. Sometimes I have to resort to D-mail
and if I can't talk or show enough I send folks to my E-mail. What's wrong with me???
But I know I am not the only one this silly. Just got to "grin and bear it" We are a tough
lot aren't we?

Washington, IN(Zone 6a)

Oh I have a very big problem with me opening mouth and insert foot too ! I am an very opinioned person and it sure gets me into a lot of trouble.

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

My trouble started with this little beauty. Got to go get anther picture with the leaves
showing and put it on plant ID. these are growing at edge of woods, not thick , just a plant here and there.

seray, got your pkge today thanks so much. I have to be a dummy and ask which is which,or are they both the same? One was a rooted which I know what that is but the other one cuttings?

Flower the cutting is the blue and white lisianthus. I sent it as a lark. I don't know if it'll root but it did have a seed pod on it. I figured if anyone could get it to root you could.

The other is the purple crepe myrtle. Hope it makes it. It's gorgeous when it's blooming. :) I wonder what I did with the plant tags I made to send with them. LOL

You're welcome!
