New bees chit chat thread...Seed Junkies welcome

Middleton, TN(Zone 7a)

What would everybody think if we did a seed auction for Heirloom Veggie Seeds? This would be a good time to collect veggie seeds..

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

flower - those clematis are really pretty. One of us is bound to ID it - lol.

Sounds good to me but what if we don't have heirloom kind? couldn't it be any kind of vegie seeds? That way if you have heirloom bid them and if not any kind will do so all can get in on it, just a suggestion, but it's your call. It's your auction again this week. Just thinking about the newbies just starting out may not have those and might want to get included in the bids, and might be easier to get other seeds to bid.

Middleton, TN(Zone 7a)

Your Clematis is beautiful flower..

Washington, IN(Zone 6a)

Thanks. They are really more beautiful in living color. LOL

Well I am on here this morning TT . I watched the football games yesterday afternoon so I didn't see your want. Will send you some. Have to get out and collect them sometime today.
The bigger bulbs were asiatic lily bulbs, then there were a few small ones and then a few baby Glad bubulis.

Washington, IN(Zone 6a)

Hey does anyone on here know about gourds? I have about 5 huge ones hanging on my porch on a vine and I don't know when I am supposed to pick them or what ever. Can you help?

Litchfield, ME(Zone 5a)

Washington, IN(Zone 6a)

Will Do but will have to be later this afternoon, Got to go to town here in about 1/2 hr and wil be gone for awhile.

Sundance, WY(Zone 3b)

Good Morning! Sorry I missed visiting much yesterday. Had to work and then had a going away party to go to, and got to spend some time with DD, ,DSIL, and new baby! What a busy day! Lord, I even slept past 7 this morning! FF, those clems are beautiful! If you have extra seeds, I would love a couple, have never tried starting clems from seed, but think that it is a slow process. But I would love to try it anyway. I'll send cuttings back to you if I can get them to grow! LOL!
I wonder if gourds take a little cooler climate? I've never had any luck with them either Robin, but haven't tried them for years. Maybe next spring?
Debra, I have a blue MG today! First time I've had one, have no idea what it is, but it is huge! Twice the size of the others I have! Will have to try to collect seeds from that one for sure!
FF, have already received requests for passing forward some of the glads and lilies, when they get that big! How cool is that! Silly people are assuming I can get them to grow and stay alive! LOL!
Get to spend some time today working in the yard! Everyone have a great Day!!

Edited to say: Wow Mechelle! What a great day you had! And met new friends also! Doesn't get any better than that!

Flower, when I grow gourds, usually leave them till the vine starts to wither away, but if you want to pick them first, just watch for the stem to the gourd to start to turn yellowish color and pick, wait a week or so and break open for seeds, or leave the seeds in until you want to use them. They can dry inside the gourds. I only planted the little snake gourds this year, thought they might be pretty for fall decorations. Planted late and don't have any yet though.
Flower, Mechelle- your packages are going out today.
Flower, you are about to get d-mail.

Morning Everyone!

Nice morning in GA. NOT working today!!!!! Flower, Mekos and Robin you have goodies in the mail!

AL I'm looking for extra spring bulbs for you. :) I have a beautiful spider and babies. Watch for a package also.

Off with my shovel. The youngins' have inspired me. Will be leaving my heels at home though. LOL

Hornell, NY(Zone 5a)

Good Morning everybody! How is everyone today? It's been raining out since last night so I think I'm just going to get all my trades and packages done today and lay low. I'm so glad you guys liked the auction.. And where IS Cue? Hope she's feeling ok. Mekos let's take a break from the auction this week and I will do a veggie seed one starting next week. I will add surprises for every bid of Heirloom seeds. How's that sound? Starting Monday. So everyone, heads up, start collecting your firepower this week for bid wars next week! Have a good day my friends.. will ttyl I'm sure. Can't stay away for too long! I don't even hardly check my personal email anymore!

Florence, KY(Zone 6a)

I would love to try some spider babies Al. I've not had much luck with them but am willing to try it again.

Sounds great Mechelle. I'm busy packing boxes too. I think we all need a break from the auction to gather seeds. You really are a natural born auction doer. Loved it-even if i didn't win. (pouting) Do I get any sympathy? (maybe don't answer that-it might break my feelings.)
Al you got lots of friends.Jump in when you hear of something you want. We ALL share-Happy to. If I have anything, just tell me.

THANKS SERAY, I appreciate all you do. I had some puya to sprout and something that looks like grass. green things sticking up 1-2 inches tall. not sure what it is, forgot what I sowed. any ideas?

Middleton, TN(Zone 7a)

Yeah, 10 years in the wholesale auto auction business can do that to a girl!

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Hi All this to good..

'Dear Lord:

A man was sick and tired of going to work every day
while his wife stayed home.
He wanted her to see what he went through so he prayed:
'Dear Lord:
I go to work every day and put in 8 hours while my wife
merely stays at home.
I want her to know what I go through.
So, please allow her body to switch with mine for a day.
God, in his infinite wisdom,
granted the man's wish.
The next morning, sure enough, the man awoke as a woman...
He arose, cooked breakfast for his mate,
Awakened the kids,
Set out their school clothes,
Fed them breakfast,
Packed their lunches,
Drove them to school,
Came home and picked up the dry cleaning,
Took it to the cleaners
And stopped at the bank to make a deposit,
Went grocery shopping,
Then drove home to put away the groceries,
Paid the bills and balanced the check book.
He cleaned the cat's litter box and bathed the dog..
Then, it was already 1 P.M.
And he hurried to make the beds,
Do the laundry, vacuum,
Dust, And sweep and mop the kitchen floor.
Ran to the school to pick up the kids and got into an argument
with them on the way home.
Set out milk and cookies and got the kids organized to do their homework.
Then, set up the ironing board and watched TV while he did the ironing.
At 4:30 he began peeling potatoes and washing vegetables for salad,
breaded the pork chops and snapped fresh beans for supper.
After supper, He cleaned the kitchen,
Ran the dishwasher,
Folded laundry,
Bathed the kids, and put them to bed.
At 9 P.M. He was exhausted and, though his daily chores
weren't finished, he went to bed where he was expected to
make love, which he managed to get through without complaint.
The next morning, he awoke and immediately knelt by the bed and said: -
Lord, I don't know what I was thinking.
I was so wrong to envy my wife's being able to stay home all day.
Please, Oh! Please, let us trade back.. Amen!'
The Lord, in his infinite wisdom, replied:
'My son, I feel you have learned your lesson and
I will be happy to change things back to the way they were.
You'll just have to wait nine months, though.
You got pregnant last night.'

Monticello, KY(Zone 6b)

HI Everyone. Did some cleaning up in the flower beds this morning, cleaned house s little, was hoping to go to town and do the paperwork but it will be tomorrow afternoon before we go. His boss is back and already wearing him out.
Tubby I've had a few friends and sisters in law wish that last one on their husbands after they smarted off that being pregnant wasn't a big deal.
Need prayers for two little babies. Miles, 2 months has viral mengitis and Caleb 2 years has a bacterial infection and both are in the hospital right now. So far Miles seems to be doing well still waitinig to find out what kind of bacterial infection Caleb has but he was up and eating breakfast this morning. Both boys are great nephews of mine.

Mystery sprouts! Love those. Haven't a clue unless they are the Blue fescue I sent you. Haven't planted any seeds except Brugs. And you know how successful that has been so far. LOL

Natural Born Auctioneer! Mechelle :)

Sundance, WY(Zone 3b)

Mindy, of course our prayers are with your little ones! Praying for them everyday for a speedy and complete recovery. There is nothing worse, I don't think, than watching sick little ones. Makes you feel so helpless when you can't make them all better. Be sure and keep us posted as to how they are doing, please.

Mindy, so sorry about the boys, I was out packing up trades. I will be praying for them and hope they are well SOON!
No, Seray, didn't plant the fescue seeds yet. these should be something else. I planted several and moved the containers before getting the name stickers on them.-but does look like grass right now. My puya sprouted and SOoooooo many hibiscus seeds that Faye sent me and I can't remember her DG name to tell her her package is on it's way to her as well. BUT FAYE THEY ARE.
Flower, waiting for your list, so I don't forget half of them.
OH Seray, Almost forgot, the purple/blue cup flower seeds are sprouting. Very tiny green poking out.
