Please help me I'm drowning and its not from the dew....I guess I wished too hard. Now everyone else is getting rain and tomorrow, since it looks like today's showers aren't showing up as predicted, I have got to water...everything....Ach du leiber...
Is There Ever Too Much of Luping's Basil?
I do a raindance for you then moon
Thanks Trina...hasn't gotten terrible like it was in June/July....then the bottom dropped out and it rained everyday...careful what you ask for....grin. We got a couple showers Sunday...less than a 1/4 inch....I'm really just whining, Trina...grin
I know, there for awhile I felt like i was gonna grow webbed feet!!!! its truly sad when the average temp in Portland all summer was 20 degrees higher than our average temperature
I don't know I dance naked under the moon...don't usually have company for that, too afraid of scaring people off!
I believe it starts like this:
"To the East where the Sun rises.
To the North where the cold comes from.
To the South where the light comes from.
To the West where the Sun sets.
To the Father Sun.
To the Mother Earth."
Yes, the cold comes from up here :(
Metro where have you been all my life?.....LOL just kidding
To Sister moon we ask this gift.....
Dave, BF is on messenger and I copied and pasted in to him what you said about the palm...........we have smilies that roll on the floor laughing, and he put that one in after he read it.............LOL
Anyone have any suggestions on what plants I can stick in my bathroom...window is an west facing one...it's the only window (for now). need greenery to liven it up a bit
How long does it take the chives to come up Kassy? I figured as small as the seed were they would be up in three or four days.
Here you got Jim, I'm good at copy and pasting.....
If you want to start them from seed, toss a small handfull into a 3 inch by 3 inch square of your garden. Water well. In a week or so you’ll notice slightly thick, grass-like shoots. During its first summer, cut chives sparsely so most of its energy is put into growing a strong root system. Cover them with leaves or straw their first winter, although they probably will live without it.
They bloom in mid to late spring on erect stalks that hold the blooms above the rosette of leaves. Their light lavender flowers are actually many little flowers radiating out from a central point.
The flowers are edible. They have a rather strong onion taste, so pull the small, individual “flowers” off and toss them into spring salads.
there you go talking about food again
LOL sorry trina, but food is a part of my job too.
Really? What do you do?
I take care of the developmentally disabled. I work nights and most of the cooking is done then.
And we have a low sodium diet we have to follow. A very strict one. No more then 200mgs of sodium in any one food item...........
That sure leaves hotdogs, brats, lunch meat, and a lot of thinks out!
PS.. My mom was a dietary director of a nursing home. And the head cook before she was the dietary director.
She taught me well ;-)
I don't envy you!!!! I must have my salt and my butter..couldn't cook without them! That has to be somewhat a stressful job...at least emotionally
Good on you Kassy! Everyone needs a good diet to be healthy.
but I need my COOKIES....and lots of them and my French Silk Pie...and my Brownies...and doughnuts....and chocolate anything....Homemade Apple pie...and pumpkin bread and stawberry bread and cheesecake
Boy, no low sodium diet there!
I'm hoping someday to reach 110 pounds...I keep getting stuck at 104
Whoa, that's about what my client weighs, the one that is low sodium!
And yes, it can be an emotionally stressful job...... especially when you lose one of them suddenly :(
We were considered a part of his family.
Yeah but if I do anything that breaks a sweat I drop back down to 98...I'm probably the only person I know that throws a party when I gain weight!
I use to volunteer at a place like that in springfield, except it was mostly children, and it was sad because most of their parents brought them there and then just don't come back....every child needs to be loved
We have all adults. Some of ours have been in institutions and taken out to move in by us. We recenly got a really sweet lady in her 40's who was in a car accident and remembers nothing before the accident. She was at home for 4 years, but it was getting a little to stressful on the husband, so she came to us.
I really like her ^_^
And on the first night with me, by morning she remembered my name. She had a trick to remembering my name though. She has a neighbor with the same name!!!
Well that is awesome...what you do is a wonderful thing...I'm afraid cuz I know some day I will be in a place like that...I truly am living my worst nightmare somedays...But I am just too stubborn and have too much more to do to give in yet!
Hey, don't you think that way, like I said, most of ours were in institutions before they came to us.
The one on the low sodium diet has congestive heart falure, and Muscular dystrophy!
Are you a vegan Trina?
Working with special needs folks can be stressful; glad there are folks to give them help. Glad you are on the job Kassy!
not really....just not a big fan of most meat..prefer pastas with lots of fresh garlic and tomatoes
Kassy I have a very unusual medical condition...one you don't contract, one caused by repeated abuse as a child, If I laugh at it it's not so painful...well physically it is but not so much emotionally anymore...I have already waaaaay surpassed what any doctor ever expected I could do...so i figure I must be doing something right or I'm just too darn stubborn to live down to their expections and limitations!
Thanks Dave, I started doing this 5 years ago. Before that I took care of the elderly, and took care of my mom for 2 1/2 years too.
You go girl!!!
It's amazing what a person can do when they set their minds to it!
I use to wish I had a name for what was wrong...I'd wake up in so much pain I'd throw up, and on those days I'd get very frustrated cuz I couldn't do simple things like tie my shoes, or grip buttons, or zipper tabs...quite literally I'd feel like I got hit by a Mack truck and forgot to lay down and die...Then after alot of painful tests and MRI's they found the problem...Now I wish I didn't know. So I am on daily meds to try and control the pain and painkillers for the breakthrough pain
Hey, I am on daily meds too, and thank you for reminding me to take that last set of them.
Be right back!
We all have skeletons in the closet Trina, it is very healthy to deal with them.
I have dealt with them, but on days I really hurt..I have to laugh or I will cry....as for meds you're right I forgot mine too..I'll show you mine if you show me yours....LOL
Very true Dave!
