Is There Ever Too Much of Luping's Basil?
Oh Dave and Jean,
I'm in heaven, I'm in heaven....................
BF texted me this morning as I didn't get to talk to him on messenger last night, and said there are 15 Puff Balls in the yard now!!! Yippieeeeeee
^_^
I guess I have to keep him now............LOL
I have managed to grow the stuff around here for years before I decided we should be formally introduced....sort of a plant empath...grin
Yea Kassy....it is sauted puffball for dinner....with pictures. Yummy
I texted him back and told him "PROTECT THEM FROM THE CHICKENS"!!!
Think he might have gotten the message?
Tradescantia...purple wandering jew http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1160/
Boy, footless won't be a super messenger if he eats your puffballs....grin he might need those fiery wheels....grin
Tradescantia pallida 'Purpurea'.
15 Puffballs! Wow! Now you just need to get your BF to eat them!
Thank you both! OK whats a puffball?
Giant Puffball Mushroom, Calvatia gigantea. One of the best eating mushrooms on the planet!
I prefer the morrels....sliced and deep fried with a very light breading....yummy...now you all made me hungry
LOL Dave, that will never happen!
All the more for me ^_^
Or do I need a new BF? Nahhhhh
A Good Recipe
The giant puffball lends itself to being cut into steaks, dipped in beaten egg covered in breadcrumbs and fried, especially in the pan juices after frying bacon. Try also grilling one side of a thick slice, then turning it over and grilling the other, adding cheese slices and seasoning.
GIANT'S OMELETTE
225g Giant Puff Ball - thinly sliced
80ml (4 tbsp) butter
60ml chopped fresh chives
60ml chopped fresh parsley
60ml heavy cream
6 eggs - lightly beaten
Salt and Black Pepper
Sauté the mushrooms in half the butter, until the liquid has almost evaporated. Add the herbs and set aside.
Melt the remaining butter in an omelette pan on a moderate heat. Blend the cream into the eggs and add salt and pepper, then pour into pan. When the egg mixture starts to set lift the edges, and tilt the pan so the remaining runny mixture can flow to the heat. When the mixture just stops flowing add the sautéed mushrooms to the omelette. When the omelette starts to turn golden brown at the bottom, fold in half and slide onto a plate.
Oh man, now I'm getting hungry!!!
Kassy your just plain mean doing that! now my tummy's rumbling!...LOL
OH man, Oh man, I have to tell you this one.............ROTFL
My son usually does not cut the lawn, my DIL does because she likes to do it.
She is gone now, so he is cutting it today. He came in and said "That sure doesn't feel like a selfpropelled lawn mower. Boy, am I getting a work out, especially going up hill!"
The next time he went out he found out there was another small handle on it that makes it selfpropelled............ROTFL!!!!
I'm dying laughing here!!!
Wish I had known those were edible..I'd tell you what happened but you'd just cry...and thats funny about the lawnmower!!!
Trina, that big one that I have my foot by I didn't get to soon enough.......
And I was never willing to try them, even though my BF had a friend that would come over to get them for eating.
After Dave and Jean ID'ed it for me, I ran out to get it. But it was too old by then :(
We have never had 15 in his yard! Usually 2 at the most each year.
BF and his daughter use to kick them around like scoccer balls..........Bet he won't do that any more ^_^
Not if he doesn't want to join Footless....grin

Thanks Moon!!! Sorry to be a pain guys
No problem Trina. have google; will search....grin
well this witch is still in the dark ages..LOL ...I did upgrade from a broom to a bike though!!! My step-son Austin rebuilt me a 1950's Schwinn with a few upgrades...we call it broomhilda...and a 3 wheeled one we call toadie
Oh, you bet Jean. Kicking those mushrooms around now will be grounds for sending him to the chicken coop ;-)
We skip dog house, we just go to chicken coop!
hhm bad man in the chicken coop with an angry footless chicken? We could sell tickets!
Well darn.....I now have mixed feelings about this website....I liked growing things and not knowing what they were...I never realized I had so many poisonous ones!!!
I don't know all of the names of my plants either. I see, I like, I buy. End of story. Sometimes I try to figure the rest out. Most of them I at least know the basic type, just not the exact variety. There's no shortage of poisonous plants. If you tried to grow just the safe ones you wouldn't have nearly as much fun. Keep putting plant pics on, love plant pics!
Kassy, that's the biggest mushroom I've ever seen. It's a feast! Also, I wanna buy tickets :)
Oh, forgot, baked alaska....mmmmmmm.....
Mushroom omelet....mmmmmm.....

15 Puff balls!!! yipppieeeeeeeeeee
Hello everyone.
Trina, your as bad with collecting plant's as I am;-)
Jean, I have never heard of "dorotheanthus mezoo trailing red Livingstone Daisy" I thought it was Aptenia cordifolia 'Variegata'.
Jim, how is it going with your veggie's and herb's that you recently planted?
Lynnie, hope you and your corn stalk are coming to term's with one another.
Hi Rachel, how was your day?
I squirted it with dish soap like Jim said, we'll see what happens. It smells good :)
