Welcome Flowers :)
Slugs
i have slugs
Men! they don't know nothin' ;)
just kidding Jim lol
JJ how you feeling? I just had a great workout :) extra sets & everything....
Cat I'll tell if you'll tell....
when I did "this little piggy" with the babies I changed the words to "this little piggy went to college and got a great job he loved...." etc...
Come on Guys...Rachel told...and I think you guys are snugged up at just about the same age as her....Besides, I have you all beat hands down,,,,remember, my oldest celebrated his 36th b'day this year....grin
Not by much my oldest is 35, youngest is 23 and one in between.
JJ that floor is gorgeous!
Moon if you had your first child at 14, you'd be 50 :) IF haha
Ok I'll spill, I'm 45! And no I can't believe it! How old is Rachel, I don't remember her telling. (gasp! I'm 45 and a HALF!)
oh my god, that woodwork is beautiful!
JJ's that is just absolutely exquisite...and to think it was carpeted over....shame shame. grin. The woodwork is very nice! Rachel said she was 43....and I was a bit older than 14...grin actually, I turned 58 in June. An Aquarius Lynnie?
Thanks Lynnie. I have the same floor in DR, LR and the kitchen. DH says kitchen floor is to warped to save but it is still under the linoleum ( not glued just laid and under baseboards.) I don't know if Rachel told but she looked young.
30 ish??
OK, Moon I just turned 35, Monday
OOPS Darn laptop 53
LOL. Sounds like several of us are only a year or so apart in ages!
JJ's I read 35 and just hooted....grin. happy Birthday . Welcome to the wine club....better with age. Grin The fifties was a good decade...grin
Thanks Moon, DH is handy to have around. We have been told that the DR and LR floors use to have a big star in the middle when house was built but it wasn't there when we uncovered them. Darn!!
Good thing I'm not one of those people at the fair who guess ages and weight, would be out of business in no time.
Well I have to get something done.
Later, Have a Great Day and those of you working don't work to hard.
... and I thought this thread was about slugs. Glad I have something to look forward to this decade, just hit the big one myself.
Caught that did ya LOL. DH laughs because I always ask if I can have senior discount. I'll take every discount I can get!!
Really gotta go.
Catch you later
It started about slugs mom343, but quickly morphed into about "everything"! :-)
Welcome
Welcome smileymom to the slugs and the 50's
The 50's are good years! I pretty much started a new life not long after I turned 50. They say you're only as old as you feel. Some days that's 90! LOL. But most days it's more like 20's or 30's. As long as we can keep our minds young, we'll be ok! :-)
Fortunately, the 50's have a little more to offer than just slugs...kinda like this thread. Grin
I am SO not happy right now...stepped out to carry in the trash bins and saw a noxious weed coming up in the day-lilies. Stepped into the bed to get a good grip and put my foot right in the middle of a blankety-blank aablippity-blip fire ant bed hidden under the mulch. If I have 1 bite, I have a hundred....ARRRGGGGHHHH. Thank goodness for windex. It neutralizes some of the formic acid in their bites....sitting here swallowing Benedryl and cussing to embarrass a sailor.
That effectively puts an end to today in the garden...I will not garden barefooted.
I've noticed the change in our lifestyle. We're pretty much homebodies, but oh, to go to a concert again! (Instead of spending the money on, say, school supplies. Or peanut butter..) Didn't realize how much I missed that!
We still have 1 at home, but she's 16. So we enjoy it while we can.
Oh, and I was teasing about the slugs. I've seen the thread morph, but finally had to chime in, all my coworkers are younger than I am.
Won't Jim be surprised!!
How long ago was 50 Cat?? Come on spill it.
My minds young so young I have to take notes. LOL
I agree Cat...somedays I feel like Methuselah's older sister, but most days am game for whatever falls.
Welcome Smileymom, come on in. Our threads tend to wander and intertwine, but gardens are a part of our lives and it is all part of who we are. Happy Birthday to you also on the big 50.....half a century down, half a century to go....grin
welcome smileymom :)
yes, Moon, an Aquarius, control freak :) but I'm... ah... mellowing with age
I started a new job last year, some people thought I was 28, 29 hahaha
eeew on the fire ants! I'd never go out if we got those!
I gotta actually go out now, kids ran out....
Mom343, you just have to tuck away the change everytime you buy things for the kids...like BOA does...grin. We put our change in a jar (I keep receipts and add it all up at the end of the week) and at the end of the month count out what is in the jar and we have a "date Night"....Movie, or dinner or pass this month and use two months' worth for a concert ofrsome place special...doesn't seem as overwhelming when there is a little prize at the end.
DHJim and I are on the second go around, our baby is 32, but our soon to be 15 y/o grandson Jordan has lived with us since he was a toddler...and I took SUCH good precautions not to be an "empty nest accident" mom....best laid plans.....yeah right. Grin
Lynnie, my mother, youngest brother and dear daughter, not to mention my marriage, are all Aquarians....know and love them well....grin
Sorry to hear you stepped in fire ants Moon. My brother lives in Texas ran into some at his house once. Luckily around here all you can step in is dog do.LOL
Smileymom, 16 and a girl. I remember that age. My mom wasn't enjoying. LOL (Sorry bout that now). Are you at work?
BTW folding laundry. Didn't want anyone to think I was loafing
OK Moon what is BOA?
sorry, bank of america...they run ads about putting your change from debit card purchases into a savings account....stole my idea......grin
Yeah, evil creatures....their bite stays with you for a few days unlike most garden meanies...grin
BOA - I knew that! JJ's- yes, I am at work. This is my home page. My husband (Is that a DH???) says he'd help with the gardening, but I say "DON'T TOUCH IT !!!" and he backs right off. I WILL let him water the pots, since that was HIS idea in the first place. We live in a small suburb where your neighbor is literally across the driveway, and he thought having potted plants up & down the drive would look nice. Yeah, right. High maintenance.
Moon - I have a box of rolled coin. Over $200 now. I never thought of using that for our concerts! Thanks for the bridge between those 2 brain thoughts. I throw all my change in a vase ( or vaaaz ) and when it's full I roll it and put it in this little ten-ton box.
I picked smiley as my login because it's a nickname that seems to find me on its own. Plus smiley faces are always happy. And sunshiney. Like I try to be (but aren't always successful) ^_^
more people should try to be sunshiney...weeded the area around the mailbox, hot as heck, came in for water...there are tons of ants there but not fire ants but I don't like them anyway!
Only a Vaaazz if it is holding orchids...grin. The monthly date night works for us....something to look forward to and a chance to finish a sentence....grin. Been at it for almost 38 years, three kids and a grandkid, and a mass of living under our belts....we still like each other and get a chance to show it and laugh and enjoy...helps keep the marriage young too.
Yup, DearHusband is DH, even when they aren't so "D"..grin
The secrets out, I'm a little slow, and yes DH is husband but I'll never tell how long that took me and when Chezca told me her SIL had a recipe I thought she meant to type SIS for sister. DUH LOL Put me on the list of people needing a list of abbreviations. LOL
My Dh helped me last year because I had surgery in March . My hibiscus did'nt come back. Caught him "helping" this year and found out he was pulling it, he thought it was a weed. Thanked him for trying but don't do it again.
It came back and bloomed yesterday, thouht for sure it was history.
I have a big water bottle we throw change in. Now if I could make it get the interest BOA gets!!
Yeah....the interest Boa gets, but doesn't give....grin. About 20 ripped out rudbeckias into his last weeding session I gave him pictures of what he could pull....literally. grin He thought if he goofed up he would get off...but NOOOOO, I will never willingly release free weeding....grin
I hear ya Moon, easier to train than to do it all yourself!
Literature for a good life available on the counter, DHJ...and no, I do not have too many Rudbeckia...dear.
Its a good life.....but not for the timid....
my husband mowed down my bulbs more than once.
mine likes to dig beds. " here ya go!" he says. oh great - now I have to amend it, pull out all those pesky perennial weeds, and what do I put in it? I stopped him from doing THAT anymore by saying "I'm off to the nursery".
When we first moved in our house (13 yrs ago) he mowed down the only flower, a puny rose bush, and I went out and bought one. So I can't complain about that - that's what got me into gardening.
The good ones always have that tiny streak of passive agressive oblivion in them....grin
